Unexpected Obsessions
Chapter 3: An Unexpected Offer
The next three weeks went by very quickly. Hermione was getting settled in, and Severus was enjoying his new found friend. Neither one brought up her first night at Hogwarts, for fear the other one regretted what happened. They both were glad they were interrupted. Although it seemed like the right thing to do at the moment, they knew they wanted to wait until they were sure about their relationship. Hermione had had one failure after another since she'd graduated, and Severus hadn't been in a relationship for a very long time. Neither one was ready to get hurt, so they slowed their actions down considerably. She helped him prepare the potions for Poppy, and he helped her catalogue the newest purchases for the library. Each evening, Severus would bring her a fresh bouquet of flowers after supper. They then would walk around the lake discussing their day, and Hermione had even convinced Severus to get his feet wet as well. They were beginning to fall in love, and everyone took notice.
Albus was especially cheerful. Maybe even more so than they were. He was delighted to see Severus finally happy, and it couldn't please him more that it was Hermione that had brought him out of his depression. She was truly a remarkable witch, he knew they were well suited for each other.
On her third Saturday evening, they were sitting in her parlor drinking tea when a ministry owl deposited a letter into her lap. It was from Molly Weasley, wife of Minister Arthur Weasley. They were having an engagement party for Fred and Angelina the following Saturday. It was a formal affair held at the Majestic, a very luxurious hotel and reception hall. Harry and Ginny had gotten married there. She was supposed to wear an evening gown and bring a date. A ministry car would be picking her up at 6:00, and she had a suite reserved in her name. She wanted to ask Severus, but she didn't know if he was ready for their relationship to be made public yet. She also didn't know how everyone would feel about her dating Severus, so she decided she would invite Sirius. Remus wouldn't mind him g wit with her. She had often used Sirius as a date over the past four years. Her options were limited to using a gay werewolf, or the lover of a gay werewolf. She really had to get out more. But, she always had fun with Sirius. He always was a gentleman, and he was a really good dancer. She decided if Severus asked, she would tell him that she'd asked Sirius a while back. And that this was just a letter confirming the arrangements.
"Fred and Angelina are getting married."
"Really? I didn't think anyone would ever marry the Weasley twins. They are a handful."
"Yes they are. Their engagement party is next Saturday evening." Severus knew she was going to ask him, and he would regretfully decline. He wanted to go with her, but he didn't want to draw any unwanted attention to her. He didn't care what others thought about her relationship with him, but he didn't want her to get hurt. He'd just tell her he already had plans if she asked. The idea of her taking someone else twisted his stomach into knots, but he didn't want to hurt her or worse, embarrass her by being with a former death eater, old enough to be her father.
"I hope you weren't counting on me going. I have prior engagements that will detain me all day and evening I am afraid." She felt a lump settle in her throat, and feared she was beginning to cry. She knew he probably didn't want to go with her, but she never guessed he would be so quick to reject her. Even before she asked him to go. Finding it hard to speak, she managed to tell him that she'd already asked Sirius a month ago. She felt a little bit ill, so she asked him if he cared to leave so she could rest.
"Do you need something Hermione? I can make you a potion if you'd like." He knew she was upset by his statement, but he didn't want her to get hurt. It was better in the long run this way. He kissed her goodnight, and left for his dungeons.
Sunday morning at breakfast, Hermione asked Minerva if she would like to go to Hogsmeade and help her buy a dress for the party. They agreed they would leave after lunch. Hermione went to several different dress shops before she found the perfect dress. It was a stunning floor-length gown. It was strapless, and the gold material really brought out Hermione's eyes, and the highlights in her hair. It had an empire waistline, and it emphasized her chest. She really did look beautiful, as Minerva said. She found a pair of open-toed heels, that were the exact color of her gown. All she was missing were a pair of gloves which Minerva promised to transfigure for her once they were back to Hogwarts. They decided they would put her hair up, and Minerva agreed to help her. On their way back to Hogwarts, they ran into Severus and Hagrid heading off to the Hogs Head for a drink. Hermione thought that this was odd, and Minerva only confirmed her suspicions.
"Severus must have had a terrible day to be going to the Hogs Head."
"Why is that? Doesn't he usually go there?"
"Only when he is brooding. Something must have gone wrong with his potions. And he is with Hagrid, so I dare say don't wait up for him." Minerva was making her more and more curious about why he was going there. She hadn't spend any time with him all day, and she didn't know of any complicated potions he was working on. She thought it must be about her offering to take Sirius to the engagement party.
"I won't. Thanks for the tip Minerva."
"You're welcome my dear. Now, tell me again why Severus isn't going with you, and Sirius is?"
Hermione really couldn't explain. "I guess it's really because he is embarrassed that he is dating a former student. And me of all students. He said he had a prior engagement, so it works out for the best." Hermione sounded a bit sad, and Minerva picked up on it.
"Hermione, I am sure I don't have to tell you that dating Severus will no doubt be difficult at times. But, the good shall outweigh the bad. He is a very talented wizard, and very charming indeed. You only have to get to know him before you will see how wonderful a person he is. If only I were forty years younger. And knowing Severus as well as I do, I know it is not because he is embarrassed he's dating you. He is very proud. But maybe he is worried about your feelings getting hurt. Maybe he doesn't want others to ridicule you for dating him." Minerva made Hermione realize that it was because of this and not his embarrassment of her. She didn't give a damn about what the others thought, and she would tell him as soon as he returned from Hogsmeade. She didn't care how long she'd have to wait.
"Thank you Minerva. You have made me realize something very important. I shall wait for him to return from Hogsmeade, and then I will make him understand that it doesn't matter what others think about our relationship. There are far more scandalous than ours."
"Yes there are dear. If you are ever tired of dealing with the public, go and see Remus and Sirius. Those two are pro's at dealing with scrutiny."
"I suppose they are, aren't they?" They shared a few laughs, and found themselves at the entrance to the castle. Hermione wanted to owl Sirius and make sure he didn't have plans, in case her plan fell through with Severus. Then she wanted to hang up her dress, and take a swim before bedtime. It was unbearably hot, and she needed to cool off. She sent her owl to Sirius, and headed down to the lake. Outside, she ran into Albus, who had just returned from a swim himself.
"The squid is very calm today. It makes for a nice swim. Enjoy yourself dear."
"I will, thank you Albus." She remembered her plan to surprise Severus when he returned, so she asked Albus if he could help her get past his wards. He willingly agreed, and told her how to remove the wards, then replace them as if they weren't bothered. All she would have to do was a mimicking charm so they would appear to be his. She enjoyed her swim, and returned to the castle just before dusk.
She returned to her room, showered and dressed, and grabbed a few books before heading down to the dungeons. She wore her favorite nightgown, the one she had on when they came so very close to making love. If that didn't get his attention, she didn't know what would. She wrapped her warmest robe around her, and headed to his quarters. The wards weren't easy to remove, nor replace. She was sure she'd gotten them right, and tried to make herself comfortable in front of the fire. However, his armchairs were very uncomfortable. No doubt to make his unwanted company eager to leave. She thought he wouldn't mind her occupying his bed, so she lit a fire in there, and snuggled deep under the covers.
Although it was very humid outside, the castle stayed somewhat cool, and the dungeons were even colder. There was hardly any temperature change from winter to summer. She found them very relaxing, though. She started to read a book of sonnets she'd received in the shipment from Flourish and Blotts. However, her swim and shopping day had worn her out considerably. She was woke a few hours later, by Severus removing his clothes and stumbling into bed. He hadn't even noticed the fire in his room, nor did he light any candles. He must be used to crawling into bed in the dark. She thought to herself as she felt his side of the bed sink. It wasn't until he tried to sleep in the middle did he notice her.
"What the hell?" He said, although it was considerably slurred.
"Severus, relax it's me." She reached over and placed her hand on his head. He was burning up. No doubt from whatever concoction he had drank at the Hogs Head.
"What are you doing in here? Better yet, how did you get past my wards?" He tried to straighten up his speech, but he failed miserably.
"Albus told me how to get past them. And I really wanted to talk to you, so I waited here for you, but I fell asleep. I'm sorry. I can go if you want me too." She hoped he wouldn't say yes. She really wanted to stay here. His bed was so comfortable, and the heat radiating from his body made her want to stay that much longer. She really could get used to sleeping with him. She hoped she would have many opportunities.
"You don't have to leave. It is way too late. I wouldn't mind you getting something from the medicine cabinet for me though. A little sobering potion. It is on the top shelf, and has a green stopper."
She went to the bathroom and retrieved his potion. Much to her surprise, he drank the entire contents of the phial, and instantly his speech cleared up. "Thank you. I lost to Hagrid tonight. Had to drink half of what he did. I didn't know I was capable of drinking so much in one evening."
"Well, why did you feel you had to drink yourself into an oblivion anyway?" She had learned to be direct when approaching Severus. He was direct with her, so she would be with him.
"I am sorry, but I cannot tell you that. It is personal."
"Can you tell me I wasn't any part of your reason?"
"No, I cannot. I am sorry."
"Well, you better get off of it and tell me damnit. I want to know. I have something to tell you, and I don't care if you don't want to hear it. You're going to." She had suddenly gotten angry at him and she didn't know why.
"I didn't say I didn't want to hear it. You may go ahead." His voice remained calm, where hers had gotten loud and she was barely below yelling.
"I came here tonight to tell you that if you made up your excuse of having plans next Saturday to save me from embarrassment or to protect my feelings, you better forget it. I could care less what others may say. Nothing is going to change the way I feel about you. Not anything they may tell me, nor how they may treat me. I want to be with you, and I don't give a damn about the outside world."
He was very impressed by her perception, however he acted as if she was wrong. "I don't have the faintest idea of what you're talking about. I have plans that evening. And besides, you're taking Black, remember?" She knew he was jealous, because he never referred to him as Black unless he was pissed at him. She wasn't going to let up though.
"So, tell me why you went with Hagrid then?"
"I told you it wasn't any of your business. I often drink with Hagrid, however not as much as I did tonight."
"Well, I don't believe you that you have plans next Saturday, but if you aren't willing to tell me the truth, I must accept your excuse, and take Sirius with me. I do hope he plans on staying out though. The Majestic has a hot tub in each suite, and I bet we could have a lot of fun in there." She knew she was treading on thin ice, and that it was cracking by the second. She hoped this would bring Severus around, but it didn't. He didn't fall for the bait. Damn him! She thought as he responded.
"I hope you two have a lovely time. You probably will have a lot of fun." Take that. I bet you never saw that one coming. He thought to himself as he rolled over on his side to face her. He could feel her temperature rising, unfortunately it was because of anger, and not arousal.
"Severus, I don't care what people think about us. It doesn't matter to me. All I know is that I am happier than I have ever been in my entire life, and if they damn me for being happy, then everyone can go to Hell." She placed a stray strand of hair behind his ear. He agreed with her, he was happier than he had ever been, and he also didn't care what others thought. But, something in him told him not to let her know, and that if she was going with Sirius, it was for the best.
"As much as I would like to accompany you, I can't. Now, can we please enjoy being together, or are we going to go at it all night?" She didn't want him to break it off, so she cooled down, and let it rest. Maybe she was making a big deal out of nothing.
"Okay you win."
"I have already won." Hermione was overwhelmed with love as she realized that he meant he'd won by being with her. She felt so warm inside, and she leaned forward to snuggle into him. He placed an arm behind her back, pulling her chest to his side. He placed a few kisses on her forehead, and she put her arm around his waist. All that separated their flesh was the flimsy material of his boxers and her nightgown. She suddenly felt overdressed, and pulled her nightgown over her head. He was dumbfounded. That was the last thing he'd expected her to do.
"Hermione, what are you doing?"
"Gods Severus, I took off my nightgown. Why must I be up to something? I just wanted to feel my body pressed against yours. That is all." She really was only planning on this, snuggling up closely, falling asleep in his arms. She had no intentions of making love to him however, he had intentions of pleasing her to no end. He rolled her over on her back, and began kissing lightly along her chest and stomach. It was the first time he'd seen her fully naked, and he was captivated by her beauty. Her breasts were a bit larger than her small frame, but they were very nice. Her skin was silky soft. She wasn't too skinny, but perfectly shaped. She had womanly hips, and a flat tummy, and Severus' half erect penis woke fully at the realization of her not wearing any panties.
"You didn't have this planned did you, eh? Why no panties then?" He said while running his hands up and down her thighs. She really had forgotten to put them on after her shower, and it was an honest mistake.
"I guess I forgot to put a pair on when I got out of the shower. I must have been preoccupied." He glanced at her womanhood, a nicely shaped mound of brown curls covered the heart of her pleasure. He pressed his lips gently to her navel, while his hand found it's way down to her satiny folds. She unconsciously opened her legs, giving him better access to her. He trailed kisses down her stomach to her sex, and probed his tongue deeper searching for her sensitive nub. She gasped in pleasure, and couldn't wait for more. He gently licked and sucked on her, while pressing one finger deep inside her. He thrust his finger in and out of her, and her hips bucked at the pleasures it brought her. She was sweating and her whole body felt as if it would explode.
Her moans increased with every brush of his lips against her nub, and his own erection was crying out to be released. He inserted another finger and she ground her hips down begging for more. She knew she wouldn't last long. She had never been on the receiving end of oral sex, and her body rejoiced in this new found pleasure. His tongue was silky soft, and his mouth was moist and warm. She felt her orgasm building and she moved her hips fiercely as he licked harder and faster. Within a few moments she was crying out his name, releasing all that had built up over the past few weeks. He pressed his mouth to her entrance, devouring her. She hadn't ever had an orgasm that felt half as good as this, nor last half as long. For the past few years, her orgasms were self induced and it was wonderful to be able to feel someone else touching her, making her climax. She could only imagine how her orgasm would feel when he made love to her. She nearly sent herself over the edge again imagining him penetrating deep within her.
"Oh, Gods Severus. I've never— I mean—I had no idea it felt this good—" She was barely coherent. He pulled himself up to her chest, pressing his demanding erection against her thigh. No matter how much he wanted to release himself deep inside her, he wouldn't. Not tonight. This was about her, and how much he wanted her. He could wait, but he didn't know for how long. He had no idea she'd never indulged in these pleasures before, and vowed to devour her sex every chance he got. She tasted so sweet, so innocent.
"You've never-before?"
"No, I haven't. This was a first. An earth shattering, mind-blowing first." She pressed her mouth to his, tasting herself on his lips.
"Well, I am glad it was me that showed you the wonders of oral pleasure."
"Me too. Now, what are we going to do about that throbbing in your shorts?"
"Nothing. This was about you. I did this just for you. It can wait." He wanted her so bad, but no matter what she said, he wouldn't make love to her tonight.
"Severus, that's not fair."
"Why isn't it? It's my choice, and I wanted to pleasure you. I can wait. Honestly."
"Severus, would it be inappropriate for me to tell you I am falling in love with you? I know it has only been three weeks, but they have been three of the happiest weeks in my life. I have been miserable ever since I left Hogwarts, and I am so happy I returned. You are responsible for my happiness and I want to thank you."
"It wouldn't be inappropriate. And I am falling in love with you as well. It has been a very long time since I felt this way about anyone, if I've ever before. You are everything I want in life. And pleasing you, making you happy is now my goal. I don't ever want to lose you. Yes, it has been a very short three weeks, but I don't care. I've been alone far too long and it feels so damn good to hold you in my arms." He still felt bad about lying to her, but he wasn't going to change his mind. He wanted her to enjoy herself, and no matter what she claimed, she would be bothered by unwanted comments and ridicule. He had an idea of how to make it up to her, but just as he was about to ask, he heard the beautiful sounds she made when sleeping. It took him a few more minutes to calm down, and he too succumbed to the night. It was the best sleep either one had had in a very long time.
Around eleven thirty the following morning, Severus received a visitor, waking him and Hermione both from their peacefulness. He insisted she stayed in bed and he would return as soon as possible. She had no complaints. She snuggled deeper within the covers, and fell back to sleep immediately. Prongs, Remus' owl, had been trying to deliver Sirius' reply to Hermione and had flown to the Great Hall. Albus removed the letter from him, allowing him to return home. He'd tried to deliver it himself, but couldn't find Hermione. He'd mentioned to Minerva that Hermione wasn't in her chambers, and she suggested he check the dungeons. Since they were the only staff members not present at breakfast, Albus agreed they must be together. They discussed the budding relationship between the two, and neither one of them could be more pleased.
He made his way to the dungeons, only to find himself knocking for at least fifteen minutes before Severus answered wearing a thin dressing robe. He was tickled to see Severus so unkempt. His hair was a mess, and he smelled as bad as Hagrid. He no doubt had an eventful evening.
"Albus. Why did you feel compelled to nearly break down my door?"
"Good afternoon to you too Severus. I have a letter for Hermione delivered by Remus' owl. He was rather frazzled that he couldn't deliver it to her. I assume she is here?"
"You assume correct. She is still sleeping though. You can give it to me, and I will see that she gets it."
"Very well."
"Would you care to come in for a minute. I have something I want to ask you about." Albus stepped into the room, and Severus made them a pot of tea. They sat at the table in his parlor, and Albus summoned some crumpets and eclairs from the kitchens. When they finished eating, Severus put his plan into action.
"Albus, I will be leaving next Monday for my manor. I was wondering if you had any plans for Hermione during July? I would like her to accompany me home very much, and didn't want to ask her if you've already got something in store for her."
"That is a wonderful idea, Severus. No, I do not have anything planned for her. However, she will have to place her order by August 1st in order for it to arrive before the start of term. I'm sure she can do that from your place though. Have you reconsidered your position on going with her this Saturday? I am told it will be a lovely affair."
"I do not wish to discuss that right now. We had a good row last night about it."
"Your first fight, eh? And she is still here? I must say that even I am impressed Severus." He scoffed at the old wizard, knowing what he was implying.
"Minerva told me their shopping details and I must say I am very anxious to see her this Saturday. She no doubt will be even more beautiful than ever." Severus felt a bit of jealousy, but he knew that was what Albus was trying to do to him. Make him so jealous that he gave in and took her. But it didn't work.
"Quit baiting me Albus. Hermione could be wearing an ordinary work robe and still be beautiful. She needs clothes, nor makeup to show her true beauty." Albus knew Severus was in love with her, there was no question.
"Just make sure you don’t do anything you will regret later. I'd hate for you two to lose the happiness you've longed for, for so long. You both deserve each other, and I as well as every other staff member think it is wonderful you're falling in love. A person can live only so long without love, and companionship. I know you will be together for a very long time. Just call it my intuition."
"Thank you Albus. It means a lot to me to have your blessing."
"Think nothing of it. Now, I must insist you return to your bedchambers with a little early lunch for your love. She no doubt will be hungry when she wakes." He summoned a wonderful tray of fruits and sandwiches, a pitcher of pumpkin juice, and a few more eclairs for Severus and Hermione to share. He left him alone, and after a quick shower and shave, Severus returned to find Hermione sleeping peacefully. He didn't want to wake her, but he knew she must be starving as his own stomach was growling fiercely.
"Hermione, wake up. I have something for you." She woke, only to find Severus sitting in bed holding a deliciously looking tray of food. She was starving and he knew exactly what she liked. She had no clue that it was Albus that had sent for the food, and he wasn't about to tell her. A little white lie couldn't hurt.
"You've gotten my favorite sandwiches. And those eclairs, their my favorite too. I guess you do pay attention to what I eat, don't you?" He watched her devour her food and he remembered the letter from Remus or Sirius. He couldn't tell by the scrawl on the envelope. Shockingly, they both were very good writers.
"I pay far more attention to you than you know. Here, this came for you. Albus delivered it to me after searching for you. It came from Remus' owl." He bit into a sandwich and took a drink of juice as she read the letter.
Hermione,
I do not have any plans for Saturday and I would love to go with you. Remus needs to discuss some things with Albus, and he will be coming with me. We should be there around 5:00. Thanks for the invitation. I always look forward to seeing you, Harry and Ron. And don't apologize for the short notice. It's fine. I only have one question though, why aren't you going with Severus? No doubt you are the best thing that has ever happened to him. If it's none of my business that's fine. I was just curious though. I shall see you in the Great Hall at 5:45.
Sirius
Hermione was glad he accepted and she now had everything settled. She asked Severus if he minded her taking a shower in his bathroom, and he was more than willing to let her. She summoned some clothes and a robe, and headed of the the bathroom. He was tidying up when he noticed the opened letter on the tray. He couldn't help but notice what Sirius had written and was flabbergasted that she had lied to him. She hadn't already asked Sirius like she said she had. But, he couldn't be mad at her because he lied to her as well. He dressed and headed out into the parlor to wait for her. He wanted to ask her if she'd like to stay with him, and he was a bit nervous about it. Severus Snape nervous over a woman. I never thought it would ever happen, he told himself.
She returned from her shower and joined him in the parlor. "Hermione, I have something to ask you about. You can say no, and I will not be offended in any way. I just wanted to ask you though. I think you will have a good time, and there is plenty to occupy your time, and—" he was rambling on, and had to stop himself. The smile on her face indicated to him that she was enjoying this.
"What is it Severus? I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Would you like to stay at my manor with me during July? There is plenty of room, and you will have your own space. I just thought you might like staying with me."
"Hmmm. I have a few questions and demands if you want me to accept your offer."
"Agreed. Whatever they are, I can have them done by the end of the week. We'll be leaving next Monday."
"Okay, first of all, I don't want my own room, I want to share with you."
"Agreed. What else?"
"I want you to promise me you'll not ignore your own needs and desires."
"Done."
"Thank you. Thirdly, I would like you to go with me to Harry's twenty-third birthday party. Ginny is having a surprise party for him at Godric's Hollow out in the courtyard."
"It is the 31st correct?"
"Yes it is."
"We'll be returning then so there's not a problem."
"Good, and finally, I want a repeat of last night every time we get the opportunity." Her face was flushed just thinking about it. He himself was nearly fully aroused at the memories of her crying out his name in ecstasy.
"That may be difficult, but I think I can handle it." She went over and sat down on his lap, giving him a very passionate kiss.
"If I'm expected to be ready to leave by Monday, I will need to get a few things done. I need to go shopping and stock up on my cosmetics and such, and I will need to go to Gringott's and withdraw some money. Would you like to go to Diagon Alley today?"
"I can't Hermione. I need to prepare a few complicated potions for St. Mungo's and then I need to catalogue my newest ingredients. Some expire after time and I need to date those as well. But, you don't need any money. This is all on me."
"No it isn't Severus. I will not be mooching off of you for an entire month."
"Really Hermione, you're my guest and I insist."
"Well, if you insist. By the way, where is your house located?"
"You'll see. But bring a variety of clothing. And definitely a bathing suit. I have a gorgeous pool that I know you'll love."
"Okay. Anything else?"
"Yes, bring a formal gown as well. And we may be visited by my mother and sister. I am just warning you there. They are complete opposites and they drive me mad when they're together. We can discuss them later though. Have a good day shopping and I will see you at dinner." He kissed her goodbye as she exited the dungeons. She was so excited that she'd finally found someone that she didn't even notice when she walked straight into Harry.
"Har- Harry! What are you doing down here in the dungeons?"
