Freud and His Friends 3 Session 2
A/N:
Brittany
I'm glad you find it interesting! :-) And I'm glad that you enjoy this
different look on Draco's personality he is more than a dark, love (and sex)
sick Slytherin, after all.
Moi A nice guess, but he's not -
because he has this problem for close to six months already, so it would have
showed by now and they would know.
Cas If you
found it confusing till now, it will probably still be so for the next few
chapters. I know where I'm headed, but it will take them time to find the
reason. I hope you will still find it interesting to read though. :-)
Aldebaran1977 Wow! Two reviews! I'm touched! And thanks for the
complement! I agree about the sex part, but at the same time I know people who
swear it doesn't happen to them no matter how long they have been together. I
can only be happy for them and say that there are always miracles in the world.
However, time is not the reason for Draco's problem. He has more hang-ups than
that, that's why things got so extreme.
Fefs I'm so glad you like it! :-)
I'll do my very very best to make it a happy ending
I just hate bad ones. It might not be the classical happy ending, but it won't
be a bad/sad one. There will be joy in both their lives. About Harry there will
be some but not too much. Draco is the star of this show
If I wrote both
perspectives the realism of one person trying to figure out what is happening
with him would be dampened. When we have problems we can't usually see all
the perspectives. In a way I'm taking you for a ride with Draco, having to deal
with it the way he has to.
----------------------------------------
Now, I have a question: would you like Harry to join one of the
sessions? And what do you think of the therapist? :-)
----------------------------------------
Draco was 5 minutes early. He knocked on the office door hoping his
therapist would already be there he didn't fancy waiting in the hallway, or in
the empty waiting room. Luckily his shrink was there. He wandered for a moment
if it was o.k. to call him "shrink" in his
mind, it was derogatory, and what is the point of putting down the services he
used. But at the same time the name was shorter and snappier, nonchalant, it
made him feel like going to therapy wasn't a big deal, more like a joke really.
So he stuck to "shrink."
The door opened and his "shrink" stepped out.
"Ah, hello, Mr. Malfoy. Come in, make
yourself comfortable." The man was as welcoming as before.
"I'm a little early." Draco stepped in not knowing whether he
should sit and begin talking right away or wait till it was eleven o'clock
sharp.
"It's fine, don't worry about it. Would you like some tea or
coffee? I was just about to make me some."
"Tea. Thank you." Draco finally sat
down.
"Sugar? Lemon?"
"Sugar, one." The therapist spelled
two cups and handed one to Draco, settling down in his chair. Draco noted that
he drank coffee. The atmosphere seemed much less formal than in his first
meeting.
"So, how have you been doing?"
"Good." He took a sip of the well prepared tea.
"I'm glad." His shrink tasted his coffee, taking his time. "And
how is the relationship? Did you try doing what we talked about?"
"Yes. I didn't use a potion, and we only did it once this
week."
"Were you the one who wanted to do it?"
"Yes."
"How was it without the potion?"
"Not bad. Not as simple, but it was good. I did as you suggested
took control and led."
"And? Was it as boring?"
"No. Definitely not as boring as before.
And I was turned on as I was doing it."
"Good! Did you still want to do something in addition to do it?"
"Some of the time, but then I caught myself and turned my attention
to doing something to him, so it turned out o.k."
"Do you think that could be a kind of solution?"
"I don't know. I'm glad I have something I can do to get things
better, but I don't want to be the one to always do all the work. I just don't
think it's
fair, I guess." Draco thought he sounded silly, but he had no
other words to express what he was thinking. "I want reciprocation and
just as much attention too. And I want to be able to enjoy it."
"We'll work on that. I didn't mean that we were done now. How is
the relationship apart from the sexual part? Any fights?"
"Yes. Twice."
"Is that more or less than before?"
"Less, but not by much. He still annoyed
me."
"At any specific time?"
"Well, he didn't annoy me as much the day after the sex, but apart
from that all the time. Actually, since I started paying extra attention to it
he aggravated me even more."
"Then why did you fight less?"
"I tried to control it."
"Did you notice the reasons for the fights?"
Draco pulled out a small notebook from his pocked. He didn't really need
it but he felt more comfortable reading from it.
"He didn't return home on time, and the second time was when he
didn't want to go with me to my friends. We fought, he went, but it wasn't good
anyway. We almost fought again that evening."
"Why wasn't it good?"
"I don't know. He just got in the way at first, and he wouldn't
dance with me he doesn't dance. But I mean, who doesn't ever dance? And I
know he does dance, he danced with me at our graduation party and once before
that. He doesn't like to I don't know why but he used to do it just for me.
With me he would dance. And now all of a sudden he doesn't."
"That offended you?"
"Of course!"
"And how did you act then?"
"I sulked. And got him a few more drinks so that he would unwind
enough to dance with me."
"And did he?"
"Yes. But to a fast song. And then he did
the most annoying thing for the evening!"
"?"
"He stayed on the dance floor. He fucking stayed and danced without
me for an hour while I was sitting alone, watching him do it. Doesn't dance my arse! He wouldn't leave it when I asked him to sit with
me."
"I see."
"I wanted some affection, and he turned our dance after I worked
to get it into something insignificant, and when I wanted to just sit with
him, cuddle, I don't know, but he stayed there having the time of his life with
my friends! Do I have to fucking beg to be with
him?"
"I can see how that would be hurtful."
"Yes "
"How did it all end?"
"I left him there and went to lie down in one of the rooms
there."
"And he stayed there?"
"Yes. He came in to the room once and asked me if I wanted to go
dance, but I didn't not as a part of that herd to that fast music I just
wanted to touch him and be one on one which doesn't work well with fast beat.
I offered him to stay in the room, but he just said I should go back out and
enjoy myself, and he left! He fucking preferred dancing to
fooling around in a room with me!"
"Did you explain these things to him?"
"More or less. When we
got home. He just didn't get it. He apologized and all, but he didn't
get it. He would probably do it again." Draco reached for his cup
indignantly, only to notice that he had drained it already, so he put it back
down.
"Would you like more tea?"
"No, it's fine."
The therapist smiled in acceptance. Draco felt himself calm down a bit
thanks to the break in the conversation.
"If we were to measure it in percents, how much of the time this
week you were annoyed with him, and how much of the time you felt that you
wanted to be with him?"
"Mmm
About 70% of the time I was
annoyed, and about 40% of the time I wanted to be with him."
"They overlap?"
"Yes."
"So 60% of the time you wanted nothing to do with him, and part of
the time when you wanted him near, you were also displeased with him?"
"Yes."
"You realize that that is a lot of time to be irritated and
distanced from your partner."
"I know."
"So whatever problems you have in bed, I'd say you have even more
serious issues outside of it."
"
Yes." He hung his head looking down. He never realized
things were this bad.
"I suggest we try and trace the origins of this problem. We'll need
to see where things changed, since we do know that it was better, right?"
"It was."
"Okay
Another thing is
you understand I'm not a marriage
counselor. My prime objective is not to make sure the relationship holds, but
to make sure that you are as happy and at peace with yourself, as
possible. You are my client, not both of you. I wonder why you didnt turn to
couples therapy and chose to do it without your partner. You are both involved in
this problem."
"I just thought that the problem was mainly in me."
"It seems to be. But from what I heard, Mr. Potter contributes his
fair share. It is a problem between the two of you. Would you like to try and
have a double meeting? You and Mr. Potter?"
"I don't know. He's usually busy and I'm not sure I'm ready to
I
don't think I could talk as openly when he is here. And I'm not sure if
"
He tried to be as honest as he could. "If you would still see things the
way I see them when we are both here."
"I understand. That's perfectly fine as well. Then we will proceed
with one on one sessions. If at some point you do feel
comfortable with bringing him in, just tell me." The therapist leaned in a
little. "But do remember, you are my client. When and if Mr. Potter joins
a session, I will still be your therapist I am and will be still interested
in your well being more than anything else. I am here for you and I am on your
side doing what I can to bring peace to your life."
"Alright." That clarification made
him feel much better. He was already feeling guilty about being so terrible and
unreasonable, he didn't think people would see his
behavior as more than a unprovoked aggression towards his near-perfect lover.
He was glad that someone took him seriously and wouldn't ever, by definition,
dismiss what he felt.
"Then we will proceed next time. Try and refrain from using too
much potions, and as I said before don't do anything you don't really want to
do."
"Thank you, Mr. Carring."
"You're welcome. And you can call me Frank." The man shook his
hand with an earnest smile.
"Frank. Thank you."
Draco left feeling better than he had in months. It was great to be listened
to and heard, knowing that the person listening was on your side. He decided
that therapy was a wonderful invention.
TBC.

A/N: Well, I hope you liked it. Please tell me what you think of the
therapist, if you like how he is leading the sessions. And if
you want Harry to join one of the sessions.
As always the more reviews I get the faster I'll update.
