Chapter
3 : New Powers

It
was the night before his birthday and Harry was feeling very
unsettled. He ached all over and was starting to feel very warm and
jumpy. � I wonder if this is just my majority powers coming in
or an I getting sick.� He glanced at the clock,� almost
midnight, well I�ll soon know I guess.�

As
the clock struck twelve Harry felt an unbelieveable power surge
through his body. The windows and doors started to rattle and all
the lights in the house flickered on and off. The Dursleys awoke
with a start and Uncle Vernon stormed down the hall to Harry�s
room. He threw open the door charging into the room prepared to yell
at the boy but stopped dead in his tracks. Harry was hovering a foot
off his bed and was glowing with a blinding light. Vernon yelped and
scurried back to his bedroom locked the door firmly behind him.

*****Meanwhile
at 12 Grimmauld Place********

Remus
was just about to get ready for bed when Albus Dumbledore�s
head popped up in his fireplace. Remus jumped. �Albus you
scared me half to death, what is the matter? �

�The
wards at Privet Drive are going crazy. There is a massive power
source there. It could be a problem or it could just be Harry
reaching his majority powers. I need you to check it out. I will
send word to Tonks as well but please hurry. �

Remus
ran down the stairs and out the front door until he was outside the
anti- apparation wards and disparated with a pop. He appeared in an
alley close to 4 Privet Drive and ran to the house. He could see no
sign of anyone around but the sight of the house lights flickering on
and off made him gasp. � Surely that can not be Harry causing
that �. He rushed to the door and pounded on it. When no-one
answered he magically unlocked the door and rushed up the stairs. He
found the Dursleys cowering in the hallway.

�MAKE
THAT FREAK STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!� Vernon bellowed.

Remus
ignored them and made his way to Harry�s room. He opened the
door and stared.

� Sweet Merlin! �

Just
then he heard a crash downstairs and Tonks came running up the stairs

Vernon
started yelling again. � MORE OF YOU FREAKS! DON�T JUST
STAND THERE MAKE HIM STOP!!! �

�We
can�t make it stop, it�s his true powers coming in. It
should stop soon, � Remus stated never taking his eyes of
Harry. Tonks just stood there wide -eyed. Suddenly there was a
blinding flash of light that made everyone cover their eyes then
darkness. Remus rushed to Harry�s side

�Harry,
Harry speak to me. Are you all right? �

Harry
moaned and cracked an eye open. �I feel like a herd, no make
that two herds of hippogriffs just ran over me.�

Remus
laughed.

�Sure
laugh. You may feel some discomfort when your powers come in. What a
load of bull, that bloody hurt! �

�Normally
reaching your majority is not that big a deal. I have never seen
anything like this before. � Remus paused thinking what to
say. � We knew you would be a powerful wizard , we just had no
idea how truly powerful. Are you still in pain? �

� No
I feel fine now.�

� WHAT
IS GOING ON HERE? WHY ARE YOU FREAKS STILL HERE? � roared
Uncle Vernon from the doorway. �WHAT WILL THE NEIGHBORS THINK,
WITH ALL THIS LIGHTS FLASHING AND SUCH ...�

�SHUT
UP! � Harry yelled and Vernon�s lips kept moving but no
sound came out. Vernon grasped his throat and began to panic. He
started to charge at Harry but when Harry said � get out �
he went sailing out the door, which slammed shut after him .

Remus
and Tonks just stood there in shocked silence. Finally Remus snapped
out of it and looked to Harry. Harry for his part looked just as
dumbfounded as them.

� Harry
h-how , w-w-what did you do? � Remus sputtered.

� I
don�t know. I just wished he would shut up and leave and he
did � , Harry replied wide-eyed. � I could do some
minor wandless magic before but nothing like this. I didn�t
even use a spell, wow.�

� Wotcher
Harry, � exclaimed Tonks, � that was bloody brilliant! Wait until
Dumbledore hears about this.�

� NO! You can�t tell him about this.
It's none of his
business, he�ll just try to use this in some way and I refuse
to be use as his pawn anymore. �

� But
Harry ...�

� No
Tonks. If you were ever my friend and care about me at all you will
keep this to yourself �, Harry said franticly. � I will
reveal this at my own time, on my own terms. �

� Ok
Harry. I don�t understand why but I will respect your wishes.
�

Harry
hugged her, � Thanks. �

� Well
Remus we should be going, Dumbledore is probably wondering what is
going on. �

Harry
cast a pleading look towards Remus. � I think I will stay
here to make sure that there is no more problems with Harry adjusting
to his new powers. Besides I suppose I should return the muggle back
to normal. �

Tonks
laughed. � Ok see you back at headquarters tomorrow. � With that she
left the room, passing the silencely blustering Vernon
in the hallway and made her way out of the house and apparated away.

Remus
silencely appraised Harry before speaking. � Why did you want
me to stay? �

� I
guess I�m a little bit freaked out about this whole thing and
since we were going to meet up in the morning anyway I hoped you
wouldn�t mind staying . �

� No
problem. You get back in bed. I�ll just go and try to fix
your uncle, I�ll be back shortly. � Harry crawled under
the covers. Remus transfigured Harry�s desk chair into another
bed and turning of the light left the room.

Twenty
minutes later after dealing with the irate muggles Remus returned to
the room to find Harry fast asleep.

� God
he looks like an angel when he sleeps � thought Remus. �
I�m a terrible person I know for wanting him but I can�t
help it .� Remus sighed and settled down to sleep. Tomorrow
was going to be a stressful day.
