Chapter Three: How Different Life Would Be
It was a week since the party and Tom hadn\'t left Harry alone for the whole time. For once, Harry was happy to be at the Dursely\'s just to be away from Tom and his strange gaze. Harry didn\'t know what he meant by his examination and he wasn\'t sure he wanted to. He thought he was safe from Tom until he walked down the stairs one morning to hear the very object of his fears and his uncle talking.
\"I won\'t give you my land! Please I know you\'re a reasonable leader, you can\'t do this to me!\"
\"Baron Dursley-Vernon, may I call you Vernon? Vernon, you haven\'t paid your taxes to their full amount, and not only that you are buying lavish luxuries for your family all the time. . .\" Tom mentioned in an authoritative voice with a hidden smirk..
\"What can I do? Anything you want!\"
\"I don\'t know . . . well, I am in need of a good slave . . . or . . .\"
\"NO! I\'m far too old and my wife far too fragile! AND I WON\'T degrade my SON by making him soil his delicate hands with . . . with . . . labor!\" hissed a very scandalized Vernon.
\"Well then I could . . .\" Tom stroked his chin in mock-thought \". . . marry your nephew?\"
\"What!? Why would you? Never mind . . . it doesn\'t matter, I can\'t.\"
\"WHAT? WHY NOT?!. . . Oh, I mean, what . . . what is the problem?\" \"It\'s not my right. Only his god father-who\'s off in god knows where- can marry him off, but I could sell him to you.\"
\"Ohh, well that would be fine, so him for your debt?\" \"Judging by your previous behavior I think you would be willing to pay.\" \"*sigh* fine name your price.\" \"20 chests of gold!\" \"WHAT I COULD BUY THIRTY SLAVES WITH THAT MUCH GOLD!\" \"But you don\'t want thirty slaves you want the boy.\" sneered Vernon. \"Fine. Fifteen chests!\" \"Eighteen!\"
You\'d think that someone would just die or be so upset at being sold, but Harry found the situation just very surreal. It really didn\'t sink in till he got in the carriage to go to the Riddle castle that his uncle and the prince (almost King) of the country had haggled with him as the prize. However once he got in the carriage he realized how different his life would be
