Hello, welcome to all. The Third Chapter is finally up!
Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing from five o’clock to six o’clock in the morning.
It’s time for bed now, hard work earns a good night of rest… or day, whichever floats your boat in saying.

An hour or two had passed and they had finally arrived at Hogwarts, ‘least by the looks of it – kids were getting off the train in front of them. Stephanie had lightly tapped Adrianna whom fell asleep. They both took turns taking a small nap, the other staying up just in case they made it to Hogwarts, didn’t want to miss getting off, now did they? Then again, why were they going in the first place when they knew it was dangerous to begin with – 1994 – that was when the goblet of fire occurred? Goodness, this was going to be a rough year.
Adrianna merely yawned and peered over at Stephanie, giving a lazy nod as she brought her hands up to rub at her eyes before speaking, “Stephie… you brought your wand, didn’t you? I forgot to ask, it didn’t seem like you were holding it… or had it… you brought the book… but…” she trailed off picking her wand up out of her cloaks inner pocket. “I have mine. Also, I’m glad we both dressed before we got off the train, I totally had forgotten that we would need to change if we were in normal clothes…”
Stephanie’s lips curled up into a slight smile. I knew I forgot to check for something. Great, what if I don’t have it? Goodness, I’m a wizard without a wand, lovely – I feel like an idiot! “Uhm… well, I didn’t check,” she felt around on her person to see if the other ‘her’ had left it in a pocket or something of the sort.
She then opened the cloak up to reveal all the pockets instead, making it easier… “Oh… yep, here. I totally didn’t notice it…” She plucked the wand from the pocket and held it up, looking at it curiously. “Wonder what it’s made up of and…” a little piece of paper was now in her lap – seemed to be crumpled up and small. She set the wand down and opened the paper.
“Mine is made of willow, springy and it’s 12” with two Unicorn Hair,” Adrianna boasted, well at least it sounded like that to Stephanie’s ears as she read the paper in her hands.
“…Uhm well this paper, guess it came along with it – says it’s hornbeam, rigid – the length is 7 ½ ” and the core is two dragonheart strings.” Wonder what all this means…. Stephanie looked over at Adrianna who had a thoughtful expression, but it was quickly wiped off as students bustled past the car they were sitting in, alerting them to get up and go.
“Oi, I hope we can figure out what the heck the wand means or can do… ya know Oddy?” Stephanie was getting up, retrieving her things and moving along with the crowd, Adrianna close by as she spoke. “I mean, seriously – don’t they have a meaning?” Stephanie zigzagged through the crowd as carefully as she could without losing Adrianna as they then ended up on the platform, outside of the train.
“Well of course they have meaning, guess we need to ask, you know?” Adrianna stated as she patted Stephanie on the shoulder, “but this isn’t the time to worry. I thought you looked up things like this recently – I mean with your new fondness of a certain trio of Slytherin.”
“U…Uh, yeah but... the only thing I can remember is size somewhat correlates to height but I can’t remem – Oh crud! Rigid is the hardest to use and Dragonheart string is mainly used for brute strength type spells. I think Unicorn hair, you know I guess has to do with healing type things and good stuff – it’s a Unicorn after all. I have… no clue what the wood means, ‘least not off the top of my head and the cores are just educated guesses...” Stephanie went silent in her explanation as a voice boomed over the crowd – Hagrid.
“You ‘ere lot, listen up. When we be get’n to Hogwarts don’t wander off. Sortin’ will go on once we ‘ere arrive,” Hagrid spoke as he then ushered the students forward towards carriages.
Stephanie and Adrianna quickly followed, getting in a carriage of their own with six others as it then set off towards the castle. Not much time later they were finally there, everyone walking up stairs – stopping at the top where the doors to the Great Hall were. McGonagall stood there calmly, waiting for the students to all arrive so she could speak. Adrianna and Stephanie were the lucky two at the front, closest to the door as they waited in curiosity.
“Alright. Students, please be quiet now… The sorting ceremony will begin shortly and you will be placed into your houses. These houses will be like your family. You will gain points to win the House Cup at the end of the year. Points are rewarded to those who are good and respectable in their behavior and taken away for rule breaking. Now, if you all will kindly follow me so we may begin.” McGonagall motioned the kids to follow as she walked towards the doors.
“Holy…” Stephanie looked around in amazement as she saw all the students. Her eyes immediately roamed over to the Gryffindor and Slytherin tables. She gave a slight chuckle when she noticed the young Malfoy watching the first years intently, his eyes roaming to her once before settling on another person.
“Yeah... this is the year of the tournament isn’t it, Stephanie?” Adrianna whispered in her ear as they finally were at a stop in front of the podium where Dumbledore was currently standing, giving the same speech McGonagall had given.
“Hm… Yeah, it is. I dunno if I should think of it as a good or bad thing, it’s my favorite movie – but I don’t know if I want to live it out, including if my name somehow is put into the Goblet of Fire,” Stephanie admitted softly, glancing up at Dumbledore every now and then to act like she was paying attention – yet her eyes roamed over to Severus here and there. I swear it’s hormones, I’m eleven here but eighteen really, goodness this is going to be hard – including when there’s two out of the three guys that I like here.
“Alright, students. When your name is called, please come up and sit – you will be sorted into your house once I place the hat on your head,” McGonagall said in almost a monotone voice – must’ve been from all the times she’d repeated herself over the years.
Names went by that neither of them knew and it had dwindled down to the last five, the other three obviously being called before them, what luck they had. Stephanie groaned, they were the center of attention this way, people tended to always remember the last – at least in writing and things, the last was always more impressionable then the beginning.
“Miss Adrianna Marino, please step up.” McGonagall held the hat in one hand, parchment in the other as she waited until Adrianna sat down – then placing the hat on her head, waited for the response.
“Hmmm… very intelligent, very wise… yes. You’d work best there I believe, but you are loyal too and extremely hard working. Difficult… Hm. The best place for you: RAVENCLAW,” the hat bellowed the last words throughout the hall, the Ravenclaw table cheering for its new housemate as Adrianna shakily got up from the seat – stealing a glance at Stephanie and mouthing ‘Good Luck Steph’ before sitting down at the table.
“Miss Stephanie Kirchner, you are the last one, please come up.”
Stephanie was in the chair seconds later with the hat placed on her head, her eyes closed tightly. She hated being in any sort of attention, it bothered her – everyone could probably see the blush adorning her cheeks from embarrassment. She jumped slightly when the hat began to talk, including since there was a moment of silence.
“You are… extremely difficult to place. You hold qualities of all houses, yet some more-so then the others, but your less prominent qualities still stick out.” It stated as she could only mentally sigh – she knew this would happen, she knew she’d have to pick Slytherin in front of the school. This wasn’t good, they’d think her loyalties were with the dark. “Well in light of all this, I’d have to say: SLYTHERIN!”
“Sl…slytherin?” Stephanie softly whispered, she never really knew that it felt this way to be placed Slytherin. Sure she’d told herself that she was one, but… but still – to be placed there. Her heart was thumping wildly as she then got up from her chair. She’d completely drowned out the sounds of Slytherin’s cheering as she wobbled over to the table, sitting as far away from anyone as possible. She looked stressed out, the realization – the real thing… it… it felt different then…
From there on the other two schools had arrived and the Tri-Wizard Tournament with the Goblet of Fire had been explained. After the moans and the groans on the age restriction and the complete detail of the event over with – the Great Hall flourished with food. Stephanie hadn’t even acknowledged, much less noticed the odd stares she was receiving from her housemates – including a very curious Malfoy.
So this is how it feels to be Slytherin?
The last thought flowed through her mind as she then blacked out.
