“Finally” Draco thought as he lowered himself into the bath. The session with his father had only lasted perhaps all of half an hour but it had drained him. So the mud…Granger and been right. Old magic. He frowned and turned his thoughts to that one subject he’d been avoiding. Hermione Granger…he thought about the wand sitting on the dresser and smiled then frowned. True she’d be frantic looking for it but after what he had witnessed last night she didn’t need it, and that emblem on her pillow looked akin to the mark he had placed behind her ear. All pureblood families possessed them. Draco sighed he’d catch a couple of hours sleep and go to the library. All the family marks and crests were shown there. He smiled at her response and hardened in arousal immediately. He groaned and shook his head. “Granger” he said out loud. The house elf appeared. “Go away!” Draco snapped. Friggin’ house elves. He made a mental note to not vocalise his frustration. He still didn’t know how Lucius had managed to demand the Malfoy house elves accompany them. He admired that about his father. Lucius had an ability to negotiate from a position of power, even when he had none.
Lucius sat for a while deep in thought. Such magic was centuries old. He’d find out, he always did. At the moment he had more pressing issues. Now if Hogwarts was rebuilt then they must be planning classes and as much as it pained him there was nothing to it. He’d have to go before that Weasley cretin and put his son’s case forward. He would never plead ,no Malfoy ever would. Weasley getting in was no surprise but the appointment of that filthy mudblood and Hogwarts prompt reconstruction had been. How low would the wizarding world go. Disgraceful. No, if Hogwarts was up and running than Draco would be there.
Lucius heard a familiar pop and the Daily Prophet dropped onto the desk. Sent from the Ministry. They had lost their owl privileges but Lucius considered it a temporary set back as was this whole scenario. It wasn’t that the gravity of the situation escaped him but Arthur Weasley himself that gave Lucius hope. Despite the intense hatred between the families Lucius knew that Arthur was not a cold blooded killer. The trick now would be not to rile up the red headed git. A pleasure lost, he conceded, but Lucius would do whatever he could to restore the natural order of things. Malfoys on top, and everyone else under their feet.
Narcissa entered and he smiled “Come to me my love” Narcissa obligingly come to him. “My darling husband” He rose and embraced her and after a short pause he spoke “I’ll make this right.” She looked at him, their love still strong after all this time, “No my darling, we all will…”
Draco got out of the bath and was frustrated to find he was no longer tired. Ah well it was probably a good thing he figured to himself. He would go into the library before breakfast and see if it was a pureblood emblem he saw and if so which family. There was no doubt that the pillow could have been given to her by any of the guests at the Weasley housewarming, but it was that non wand stuff. If he remembered correctly only the most powerful wizards were given the gift and none of them had been anything less than pure. Mudbloods couldn’t get the gift… which meant…Malfoy shuddered, had he really locked horns with such a powerful family. Perhaps there was a traditional feud for he had hated her on sight although, on second thought, that could be the whole Potter/ Weasel thing. Perhaps…. He shook his head he was jumping to conclusions and that one thing a Malfoy never did. He was so busy with his own thoughts that he didn’t see the house elf and he nearly tripped. “You again!” he scowled menacingly. The house elf cowered “So so-so sorry master…” He shut the elf up with a swift kick ”Next time watch where you’re going” Draco smiled as he strode down the hall to the Library he always enjoyed terrorising the elves.
The huge double oak doors opened on his approach revealing a grand Library, not quite as grand as the one at Malfoy Manor but not many where. A few tapestries hung on the wall in between were the crests. He mentally kicked himself he had been surrounded by this stuff for 18 years and hadn’t taken too much note. With a flick of his wand the ladder came him. When he reached the appropriate rung he flicked his wand again and the ladder started to slowly move around the wall. He viewed the family crests displayed on the wall scrutinising each one, he sniggered at some of them. -“Nolite mentiri, Nolite decipere, Nolite furari”, read one Draco quickly translated it in his head and laughed. Don't lie; Don't cheat; Don't steal” He couldn’t see the fun in that.
“Stop” he halted the ladder. Here it was. The phoenix with the golden lion. “Wilson” The crest for all intents and purposes was hidden; for as the ladder moved toward one of the tapestries it had folded revealing the very prestigious looking crest. -“Ut phoenix, ex cineribus resurgam”. Draco smiled no real surprises there "Like a phoenix, I will rise from the ashes" He descended the ladder and sent it back to it original location. What he needed was in Malfoy Manor, damn the Ministry “Draco” the soft voice of his mother instantly soothed him. She was so graceful he hardly ever heard her. “Your father would like you to join us for an early breakfast.” Draco nodded and walked beside Narcissa Malfoy. “Mother?” he asked as the Library doors closed behind them. Narcissa smiled “What is it my son?” He stopped and turned to face her “Is there any way to tell if someone is pureblood, discreetly?” She raised an eyebrow. “There are certain items such as my wand” Narcissa produced her sapphire encrusted wand “ Only a pureblood can hold it, it will reject all others.” She summoned a house elf and Draco recognised it ,a smirk immediately formed. Seemed like it’s day was going to even get worse. Fear was written all across it’s features . “Take this” it looked like the elf was going to faint and instinctively it started to shake it’s head but one look at it’s misses halted it in it’s tracks and it reluctantly stretched out it’s hand. Narcissa dropped her wand. As soon as the wand touched the house-elf’s skin a loud bang emanated from it and the elf was thrown into the wall so hard that several paintings fell and smashed. The creature’s unfortunate predicament brought a laugh from both Narcissa and her son. She chanted a couple of lines and with one flick everything was repaired. “The spell…” she seemed lost and Draco touched her arm. “It’s okay mother I just wondered” Narcissa smiled and handed Draco her wand. He took it without hesitation. “I’ll get it back as soon…”
“I know and if I remember the spell…” Draco frowned he didn’t like to see her confused. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and quietly uttered “Thanks mum” Informality wasn’t really tolerated in Malfoy household which is why the last days had been extremely distasteful for the family. Malfoy Manor had been disgraced by the filth of Voldemort’s various creatures and the chaos they had caused. However informality in this case was strictly between Mother and son and always made Narcissa smile “Time for breakfast” Draco escorted his mother to the dining hall door, which instantly opened. He gave a slight bow as they entered “Father”
“Son” They took their seats. Lucius spoke “After breakfast we are going to the Ministry” He assessed his son’s appearance with displeasure “You’ll need to get ready” Draco felt his foot move in annoyance but remained quiet, their was nothing wrong with his appearance but he knew better than to argue. After all he had to go back to his room anyway to retrieve Granger’s wand.
Hermione had been awake for a little over half an hour. She awoke with a guilty blush. Last night she had the most erotic dream ever. It had felt so real and ….well she could think of no other word for it…yummy. She smiled guiltily and sat up. As she did the mattress formed to become a chair akin to a banana lounge. It raised to a height and angle where Hermione found herself at the optimum level for both comfort and observation. The view from the Burrow rooftop was breathtaking. She noted the dozen or so wizard tents erected in the Weasley’s yard and smiled. It had been a great night.
Hermione glimpse something out of the corner of her eye caught in her hair. She disentangled it and frowned ever so slightly as she looked at the small black feather in her hand, and instantly remembered the crow. She giggled. Poor Ronald. She reflected on the events of yesterday. What a day it had been. The Ministry! She had a job. Yea! At Hogwarts no less. She wasn’t kidding she really was looking forward to all those books! She knew the first thing she’d being looking into; the Wilson’s. She didn’t know how to feel about that. All these years of being called a mudblood had made Hermione determined to prove herself. She had done it better than most and the hard way. Now she didn’t know what to think about it. The thought of belonging to the elitist pureblood…she frowned and chided herself. The Weasley’s were pureblood and could hardly be described as elitist. Hermione gave a quiet reprimand to herself. Afterall Mr Weasley was right and the high ground was the only ground to take.
Then she allowed that other thing that had been bothering her to surface. That wand thing. The levitation to the roof, the bag and the bedding didn’t trouble her as such, but raised heaps of questions. Her Aunt had said that the family hailed from as far back as any other and further than most. All pure bloods. “Reckon we could trace it back to old Noah if we had to” Hermione smiled she liked her Aunt. There was something about her that gave Hermione confidence. She suddenly had an epiphany. She was going to embrace her heritage but not advertise it. Whatever was happening to her felt safe and natural. And why not enjoy it. The seat was divine and so was that mattress and pillow. She turned and saw that the emblem now appeared on the chair just above Hermione’s shoulders. Underneath it read -“Ut phoenix, ex cineribus resurgam” Hermione read it out loud translating it her mind. Like a Phoenix I will rise from the ashes. Suddenly Hermione felt a warmth envelop her and instinctively she knew that by uttering those words she was now, some how, different. From what she could see her hair was a little less haywire and her skin felt electric. She’d have to check it out in the mirror.
Hermione stretched and allowed herself to get lost a little in her thoughts. It was obviously a family crest. The phoenix and the lion; the Order and Griffyndor. In Australia her Aunt had spoke a little to her before she had sent her home with “Go… your friends are worried”. She had learnt that her family line had merged with Francisca Gryffindor sister of Godric Gryffindor one of the four founders of Hogwarts. The lion on the crest faced forward, and the phoenix was to the left facing the Lion. Hermione had to admit it looked pretty cool and the gold on the black background seemed to shimmer. She absentmindedly wandered what material it was. ‘Silk’ seemed to be the answer given. She couldn’t wait to see her Aunt again. Colleen had promised to seek her out once she had cleaned up a “few loose ends” and being bound by both Gryffindor and the order, Hermione had no doubt she’d keep her word.
Around this time the Weasley household sprang or rather rumbled to life. Hermione hadn’t felt so happy in a long time. ‘Ah well time to pack this up and get ready.’ Hermione started to stand. She wished she didn’t need to contend with the crowd but she really needed to clean herself up. She loved the Weasley’s but things like bathroom privileges were limited even with the installation of the extra bathroom. Hermione’s line of thought stopped right away when she realised she was now on the ground, dressed and ready. She noticed the gold trim on her cloak and mentally baulked. Instantly the cloak transformed into Hermione’s ordinary one, she chuckled and doubted whether anything associated with her would be ordinary again.
“Hermione!” Harry made his way to her with Ginny by his side. A common occurrence these days and Hermione smiled. “Morning all” Ginny looked at her friend approvingly. She looked like for the first time in months really happy and healthy. “Dad’s looking for you…” Right on cue Arthur Weasley appeared “There she is, ready for your first day?” Hermione nodded enthusiastically.
“I can’t wait” Arthur looked at her for a moment. “I don’t mean stare but you look” he paused. “…absolutely gorgeous.” His comment opened a flood gate. Harry had noticed it so had Ginny , then Mrs Weasley emerged from the Burrow and said the same. “Would you like some breakfast dear?” Hermione did feel somewhat hungry but was too excited to eat and she said as much. “I might make my way to the Ministry if that’s okay?”
“No problem at all but you’ll need this” He handed her a key tag. Hermione red the tag. For your new digs. She grinned. “Thank you Mr Weasley” She turned to Harry “I ‘spose Ronald is still asleep” Both Ginny and Harry nodded “Well tell him I said ‘morning and we’ll catch up.” She hugged Mr Weasley and took him by surprise. “Thanks again…see you at work!” and with that she was gone.
Hermione apparated into the entrance foyer of the Ministry. She glanced at her keytag. Wait here it now told her. She felt a warm glow “Hermione” She squealed at the familiar voice and turned around “A…Colleen!” She gave her Aunt an embrace that lasted for a minute. She felt somehow safe. Both witches let each other go at the same time. “A real pleasure to see you again Hermione…Happy Birthday.” Hermione was confused but took the small gift box. It was black with gold trim. “I wrapped it myself” her Aunt winked “Go on open it” She gasped when she saw it. It was the very same time piece that McGonnagall had given her all those years ago. “I’m told you understand how it works”. Hermione nodded. “It belonged to your mother. We made them together as a school project in our senior year at Hogwarts. Blew us out when they actually worked so we ended up making self maintenance plants the night before it was due.” She gave a wink “we wanted to keep them” Hermione giggled, no wonder, they were brilliant. “Come let’s check out your new digs” Hermione nodded enthusiastically still stunned by the present. “Here we are” she opened the door the old fashioned way to reveal what by all intents and purposes was an apartment.
Hermione took it all in and gasped “a computer? But how”
“It’s a biosphere letting just enough of the muggle world in so we can connect.”
“It’s online?”
“Sure is, no point other wise” Hermione shook her head “Did you do this?” Her Aunt nodded. “Amazing” that brought a smile from the older witch. “Hermione I’ve gotta go for a few minutes but before I do I’d like to get you started on something”
“Sure..any…” Her Aunt put up her hand and said very gently “Don’t ever agree to that Hermione I was caught out terribly once.” She took the younger woman’s hands in hers and looked into her eyes “I want to teach everything I can so that you can get the most out of your gifts. If you chose to remain under the radar I not only understand but will support you. If you chose to embrace your heritage openly then I’d be chuffed, but one battle at a time and first things first. You’ll need linen, clothes and food to say the least” Hermione inwardly groaned she was skint “So let me show you how you go about it” She sat at the computer and went to the favourites menu. Hermione saw the folder named shopping. Her Aunt selected food. Up came a site and she ordered coffee, sugar, milk and some biscuits. She pressed enter then confirmed her purchase with a click and instantly they arrived placing themselves on her dining table. “We’re rich so don’t mind the expense” Hermione looked up quizzically “Oh I’m talking Billions” Hermione gasped “Far more than you and I will spend in a life time. So knock yourself out. I’ll be back in a few minutes” Her Aunt halted at the door and turned “I took the liberty of ordering a kettle so I’ll have mine black and two no extra cold water” And with that she was gone. Hermione jumped up and down in excitement. She couldn’t believe it she actually felt lucky and yet this time last week she wasn’t certain if she’d ever know happiness again. Yesterday, last night (the mere though of it still made her blush), now this. Life was good. She made her way to the kitchen. It was a good size. The kettle sat there with a note “cleaned and ready to go”. She checked the water level and turned it on. She then realised she had no crockery or cutlery and smiled, back to the computer. She ordered and was pleased with her selection. She went for her wand to perform the cleaning charm, just in case and realised it was missing. “Accio” Damn!Hermione thought where is it? She summoned it again and frowned. Maybe she didn’t need but she wanted it. Well it has to be somewhere. “Alright if you won’t come to me..” a faint glow appeared and Hermione shimmered disappearing into the nether.
Draco Malfoy walked into his room just in time to see her wand heading for the window and a great rate of knots. He reacted quickly sealing the windows. The wand hit the pane so hard it cracked “repairo”. Unbelievable then it took off again but he had already cast a bubble around it to contain it. He could see the bubble membrane almost to breaking point and shook his head. He knew she was summoning it from London and couldn’t believe how powerful she’d suddenly become. “A new heiress” the whisper caught him offguard and he reacted instinctively. Hermione found herself in front of an old dresser. The reflection in it showed a huge room and large bed. The colours and décor told her it was a Slytherinn room. Serpents were everywhere. “This room currently belongs to another”
“I know” she answered softly “I only want what’s mine.” She glanced down and spotted her wand. She picked it up in relief. “How did it?…” She then noticed the cat. It was sitting on the bed and was a beautiful jet black with grey eyes…? “Malfoy” He was quick and leapt toward you snatching her wand out of her hand. “Give it back!” Her mind was racing “the crow?” she said softly and looked at him. He smiled “Sleep well” Her answer surprised him. “Very well” Damn she was blushing. “Come on Malfoy you’ve had your fun.” He shrugged and handed over Narcissa’s wand. Hermione looked at it and handed it back “You know that’s not mine” She said with what could be described as a venomous tone. She had no time for games. He watched her “Come and get it” He taunted and she spat it. “Accio” he didn’t even try to stop it. She looked at his immaculate presentation and smiled. He looked worried and then poof! A huge quantity of flour fell on him the mist covering everything. She took it all in. He looked absolutely mortified and lunged for her but his shock had given her plenty of time to apparate. He looked into the mirror and cringed, damn her. The cleansing charm hurt but it was all he could do. “House elf!”. The creature appeared with what was an obvious broken arm. It’s eyes opening up in horror. “This had better be spotless by the time I get back and you’re not to use magic!” He sneered at the crestfallen look and left. Making he way down the stairs Malfoy smiled and chuckled quietly to himself. There was no way that elf was going to be able to clean all that up by the time he got back. That stuff, whatever it was, had gotten absolutely everywhere. He looked forward to the kick in he would give it on his return.
Hermione was still chuckling when she apparated into her ‘apartment’ to hear the kettle click off. I wonder where they are and with that a globe showing the world appeared. She looked at it and a cross appeared. It was marking an island off Ireland. “Ut phoenix, ex cineribus resurgam” Hermione turned with a smile “Our family motto “
“Want to know why all this weird stuff is happening?”
“Yes please”
“Well how’s that cuppa?” The two witches settled down at the table. “I’m not going to talk about our family line..” Hermione looked crestfallen and her Aunt quickly produced a white thin leather bound book. On the front it simply stated my family. “Everything the magical world knows about us can be found in there, you just have to know the right questions to ask. To demonstrate” She opened the book “Mother” and immediately a moving picture of an Angelina(formerly Guiliani) appeared. “My mum and your grandmother” Hermione nodded. “Now you hold it” Instantly the picture disappeared and two blank pages appeared each titled Colleen Wilson with the words underneath. Disappeared on their 18thBirthday and Hermione gasped puzzled Her Aunt took a deep breath. “ Your mother and I were twins…” Hermione frowned “Oh of course…it’s only what magic knows..” Her Aunt smiled “So put that away…no need to look crestfallen, it’s yours to keep.” Hermione’s eyes lit up “ I can always make another one. I want to tell you what that book can’t” Hermione frowned” Oh, but I’ve got to…”
“It’s alright Hermione , I’ve cleared with your boss, we’ll ease into today and besides it’s only 7.30” Hermione blushed so much had happened in such a short time. “Go on spill Hermione, my story can wait, we’ll have dinner tonight, say 6.30?” Hermione nodded and let the floodgates open. A range of emotions flashed across her Aunt’s face and when Hermione had finished her Aunt said simply “He was testing you. That’s Narcissa’s wand, only a pureblood can hold it. She cast the spell over all her things to stop half bloods and the like touching them. She caught Tom Riddle out with it after I told her his father was muggleborn. And she used to like setting the so called mudbloods up” She stopped when she saw Hermione flinch “I’m sorry Hermione but that’s how we all spoke and how I still speak. You may have found out already we are painfully honest, but I will tell you, and I really hope you believe me, that I do not, and never have believed magic is the domain of only purebloods, no way! Magic is everywhere but being pureblood does give you extra oomph! Please remember that I mean absolutely no malice. Okay?” Her Aunt asked and although her tone was always warm and loving , it had softened even more. Hermione nodded, extra oomph was putting it mildly. She had apparated several times today and had no tell take aches and pains at all. ”So as I was saying, young Malfoy knows, if not in the very least suspects, the truth. Just try not to react…hmmm easier said then done?” Hermione nodded“He’s always pushed my buttons, he was the first to torment me about being a mudblood” Her Aunt grinned “Well if he does work it out he’ll be worried, our family is on par if not more powerful than the Malfoys. While they embrace the dark we embrace the light. Our family would take their family” the atrocious Italian accent made both witches laugh “Alright then Hermione. We’ll have some breakfast and talk some more” Hermione frowned “It’s okay I won’t dock your wages”
“You, I’m working with you!” she could hardly contain her joy. “Well I have lived pretty much as a muggle for as long as you have so between us we should be right” Her Aunt went to the computer “Oh by the way you can shut it down if you like but it’s not running on electricity per say so there should be no surges just turn the screen off”
“Yum” Hermione looked at the website, instantmealsforyou.wz.com and smiled how brilliant was this. “What will you have Hermione?”
“Oh Bacon and eggs will be fine”
“Now you’ll notice that certain things will form in different locations” She waved her hand and set the table for two. Pressing enter she confirmed the order and two meals appeared on the table. She then went to the beverages folder and ordered a cappuccino which appeared with the sugar, saucer and spoon next to one of the meals. Hermione chose the orange juice. “You know I feel like I did when I first found out about magic. This is awesome” She was so happy.
“All part of the plan, making magic magical again” She seemed genuinely happy and Hermione couldn’t believe her mum had turned her back on this family. As if reading her thoughts. “Now why did Faith become plain Jane and why were you eighteen yesterday” Hermione nodded and waited
“To make a long story short Tom Riddle, oh I know he changed his name to Lord whatever but he was never any more than a prat with a hateful jealous personality. He first pursued your mother but then she started dating Geoffrey Ravenclaw, your father. Eventually she bore his mark, as he did hers…”
“Mark?”
“ When two purebloods, and I don’t know why it’s only purebloods,” she quickly added as Hermione grimaced at the term. She just had to get used to it. “ but when two unattached purebloods have a passionate encounter, and they are both of marrying age” Hermione felt a fist clench inside her stomach, didn’t her Aunt say she had turned 18 yesterday, well she knew Draco had just turned 18 . She had a feeling this did not bode well. “They will unthinkingly mark the other. The mark usually forms just once, unless your extremely passionate like Lucius and Narcissa… Malfoy.” She could tell the last name was added as an after thought. Extremely passionate is not what Hermione associated with those two. Draco…yes. "Oi" her Aunt broke her reverie Hermione was so embarrassed “I’m sorry it’s just I don’t see them two as that. Although I have noticed how they are perfectly in sync with each other” Her Aunt agreed “Exactly. The mark gives the person who creates it dibs so to speak as well as…”Her Aunt hesitated and took a deep breath. Hermione’s eyes opened wide “the ability to send through all the physical pleasure or pain you’ve given each other. It works on the relationship between the two purebloods. You have to be within 50 metres or so, give or take although on rare occasions it can be so strong it reaches across the globe.” Hermione looked absolutely mortified. “Come on, out with it, you’ll feel better once it’s off your chest.”
“Well” Hermione began. Once she began it came out pretty easily and her Aunt frowned. “Did he…”
“No, oh Merlin no, he stopped himself but I was so…” she blushed
“Would you like me to check?”
“Yes please” She waved her hand and a small circle appeared behind her left ear. “There’s no easy way to say this but you have the Malfoy mark. It’s a subconscious thing. He’s marked you as suitable for marriage or rather the passion of the moment has. “ Her Aunt studied her “You don’t seem all that worried”
“Well” Hermione began thoughtfully “he didn’t use it when I retrieved my wand”
“Hermione” suddenly the tone was very serious “you are and have always been a very powerful witch. You can take him and with Harry and Ron in tow however the marks are old magic…look I have so much I want to teach you but you and I will be extremely busy. I’m going to get you started on the muggle studies and Professor McGonagall and I will be finalising the new curriculum at Hogwarts, then presenting it to the families. It’s going to be hard convincing some that they are safe to return and some others that change is needed” Hermione looked shocked “Purebloods are extremely stubborn…take us. That’s why I understand the need for you to keep you’re your muggle or should I say mudblood identity but remember this you are entrenched in old magic because your family is. However, you have achieved everything without any backing from the wizarding world. You have learnt and achieved, well excelled from all reports in the muggle way. I have such respect for you. If Draco tries to use it against you and it gets to much, call out for me and I’ll be there so quick he’s head will spin. The only way to defend yourself is to keep your distance and don’t let him bait you. Or we could just set Harry and Ron onto him” Hermione smiled, they’d kick his ass. “Speaking of which I’m informed you’ll need an hour off for lunch at 1.”
“An hour?” Hermione queried
“You’ll need at least that. Are you going to tell them?”
“For sure. They’re my best friends” Her Aunt nodded “Keep them close to you because love, strength, loyalty…all those things are old magic and will protect you as long as you don’t give a dark wizard any extra power” Hermione seemed confused and her Aunt explained “Defend yourself by all means but if you had that argument before, don’t go there again. Be a little snotty but as soon as you say “Well I’ve agreed to disagree” Walk away. Be civil.” She sat Hermione down on the couch that had materialised. She sounded incredibly sad “I’m talking from experience. Tom Riddle became obsessed with me and I did all the wrong things”
“You mean Volde…”Her Aunt cut her off with a soft “No. I mean Tom Riddle. Using anything else gives power to the legend. Thus empowering the dark magic it conjured.” She gave Hermione a few seconds to digest this “Hermione I’m going to be teaching a few things at Hogwarts so hopefully I can tell you about it but that’s history and I can always catch you up. The present is the most important thing. Now back to this mark. The one you carry is just the Malfoy crest not a combination of the two. It means that until he changes his mind no other wizard can claim you for marriage. In the muggle sense you can wed, though. It’s old magic and a two way street. Do you know if you marked him” She though about it
“No I don’t think I did.” The memory made her blush “He’ll lose interest eventually. At least now I know and can deal with it”
“And you must have been willing on some level…he must be hot” Hermione screwed up her nose and nodded “I’ll let you know if it becomes a problem.” she promised and something jerked at her memory. “Oh you haven’t heard the best bit” She relayed the flour incident. “I’d like to see him get that cleaned up…”
“Oh Hermione it won’t be him that does it”
“Oh! No! Those poor house elves I didn’t think” Hermione jumped up, her Aunt did the same “Whoa stop!” Hermione looked at her all flustered. “Be smart about this ‘cause if Draco walks in to his room and sees it’s suddenly clean that poor creature will cop a caning.” Hermione had to agree. Her Aunt suddenly smiled. Those who knew either witch would know by the look on her face that she had a plan. She made a swirling motion and Draco’s room appeared. It was a mess and she could help but admire her niece. They could see the poor house elf with what appeared to be a broken arm. Both witches felt instant sorrow for the creature who looked absolutely frantic. Hermione healed it and looked up her Aunt expectantly. She concentrated and clap her hands together suddenly the house elf was making quick progress. Instead of smearing it every where, now as soon as he touched a spot with a cloth it seemed to disappear. She concentrated again and click her fingers and the slowed down ever so slightly but to a more realistic pace. “The Malfoys are due at 1 this afternoon when they arrive just check back and do the final finishing touches . Gotta hand it to you, would have been heaps funny but ‘cause if his anything like Lucius he’d need to be immaculate.” Hermione couldn’t stop the smile You’re right there’s never a hair out of place except ..”she burst into a fit of giggles “ahem” she composed herself. “you should have seen it.” When she finally composed herself Hermione asked something that had bothered her ever since she went and retrieved her wand. “How’s is it that I could get through security?” She had met no resistance whatsoever. “ ‘Ut phoenix, ex cineribus resurgam’ once a Wilson turns 18 as part of embracing the family you utter those words. I felt you do it, it’s old magic” What do you think would have happened if you hadn’t?” Hermione pondered her Aunt’s question “Well I guess I would have been seeing it everywhere”
“Exactly” She was impressed, Hermione was clever and possessed every quality admired by both Gryfinndor and the Order.
“So to answer your question it use to be our family ‘holiday’ home,” her Aunt rolled her eyes and then asked a little breathlessly “Did it speak to you?” Hermione gasped and nodded. Her Aunt got up “Tell you what , how about we finish this conversation at dinner tonight and go see Mr Weasley.” Hermione nodded “Time to clean up” Her Aunt stated as she lifted her plate and simply stated “return” doing the same with her cup. “Come on Hermione” she said with a laugh “you could at least do your own dishes”
