Hello everybody. Sorry about the month wait. I lost my archive of ideas with my computer crash so I’ve been rebuilding it. Glad to see the hits keep climbing. I hope you all enjoy this next chapter.

@ unneeded: I have a plan for that pesky little Horcrux. Not going to reveal too much, but let’s just say Gabrielle does NOT like sharing, not at all.

@ wapiti: Oh yes, there will be more.

Weasley House and surrounding area, 2 days before the wedding

Gabrielle and Harry walked side by side back towards the house, enjoying a brief moment of quiet between them as the sun rose over the horizon, his arm around her lower back while she held his other hand in both of hers. They would have been able to enjoy a peaceful walk back, but considering Harry’s luck, things never were peaceful for long. For they were walking back just as Ginny decided to come back home from her flight to calm down. And as she looked down and saw that VEELA in Harry’s arms, she lost all the calm she worked for the previous night. Her heart sank and filled with rage that Harry had ‘broken up’ with her, but happily spent time with a girl he met only once before. She angled her broom down and flew as fast as she could towards Gabrielle’s head.

As they walked, Harry heard what sounded like a broom rushing towards them. With instincts honed from being a seeker for six years, he spun Gabrielle in front of him just as Ginny would have crashed into her. “Ginny! Watch it! You almost hit us!”

Ginny turned her broom around and hovered in front of Harry and Ginny, looking back and forth with nothing but contempt on her face. She brought the broomstick down and dismounted it, marching right up to the two of them, her eyes red from tears the previous night. “HOW COULD YOU HARRY!? I LOVE YOU! I have since you saved me in the Chamber! And when we finally could be together, you broke up with me for your stupid quest!! Then SHE COMES and you instantly fall for her?!” Ginny then turned to Gabrielle. “AND YOU!! I know all about how Veela can seduce men. That’s what you’re doing to Harry, isn’t it?!? That’s illegal you know!! You can’t MAKE someone love you simply because you want to!!”

Gabrielle was shocked at the way Ginny was treating them both. From what Harry had told her last night, she was always calm and level-headed. And while Harry had told her about the way he had felt towards Ginny and her reciprocation, she sensed it wasn’t going to be an issue. But now, with Ginny accusing her of seducing Harry, she realized she would need to ensure Ginny knew that not only was the feeling between her and Harry real, but Harry was no longer ‘available’. Trying to stay calm, Gabrielle stepped between them, looking Ginny in the eyes. “Ginny, I’m sorry. But I’m not seducing Harry. What we feel towards each other is beyond anything we can say to you. We’re both sorry it happened like this, but please understand that there isn’t a way to undo what’s started. We just hope…”

Ginny’s anger was rising with every word Gabrielle said. Suddenly, without realizing it, she had pulled out her wand and sent a spell at the Veela that stood between her and the boy she loved. Looking from the tip of her wand to them, she tried to figure out what she was going to do. She had just attacked someone. But she did it out of love. But it wasn’t right. But maybe if she showed Harry she was stronger then Gabrielle, he’d want to be with her instead.

Harry gasped as someone he considered his friend just hexed HIS Gabrielle. As he helped her up, he glared at Ginny. “WHY did you do that Ginny?! It’s not Gabrielle’s fault. Or mine. It just happened. But rather than be supportive, you HEX her?! What’s wrong with you.” He reached to his pocket to pull out his wand, but realized that Hermione still had it from yesterday. So he did what he could, taking his shirt and ripping off a chunk of it to wipe the blood from Gabrielle’s lip. As he did this though, he saw something in her eyes, a fire building within her.

Gently pushing Harry away, Gabrielle stood up, looking at Ginny with malice in her eyes. “Where I come from, it’s a crime to hex a wizard or witch for no reason. But self-defense…is heavily taught…” She pulled her own wand out and sent a far more powerful spell at Ginny, breaking through her shield and sending the red-head flipping backwards and landing in a puddle. She watched her opponent like a hawk, waiting for her next opening.

Ginny stood up slowly, spitting water out of her mouth, wiping a trickle of blood from her own lip. What have I gotten myself into? It doesn’t matter, I’m GOING to win! With new-found determination, she raised her wand and sent another spell, and another; using everything she could think of to prove to Harry she was better than some random Veela.

Harry watched as the two girls fought. Well, as Ginny fought. But Gabrielle…her dueling style was more like a dance then an attack. Every move she made to avoid a spell or counter it was graceful, never moving more than necessary or exposing any weakness. She was truly skilled at defense. For some reason, he kind of felt sorry for Ginny. Deep down, he knew that she lost, even before it started. This was her last effort, but the part of him that was bonding with Gabrielle more and more knew that Gabrielle would win.

Gabrielle blocked another spell then sent a powerful Expelliarmis towards Ginny, disarming her. “Accio Wand!” As she caught the ‘forfeited’ wand, she stared at her opponent, smiling angelically. “Ginny, I had hoped we could be friends. Harry told me all about the two of you. I was going to try and let him still be friends with you. I didn’t feel threatened that you’d be his friend. But now, after you attacking me, I don’t EVER want you near him or me EVER AGAIN!” She looked back at Harry, waiting to see what he said but knowing that he’d agree.

Harry looked down at Ginny, frowning. “I thought I knew you, but I was wrong. Goodbye, Ginny.” He then took Ginny’s wand from Gabrielle and walked with her back towards the house, leaving Ginny there, soaking wet, humiliated and defeated. There was rustling and Remus and Tonks appeared between Harry and Gabrielle and the house, their wands raised. “You two are a little past curfew, where were you?” Remus asked, looking between them, his eyebrows raised at the fact that not only was Gabrielle sporting a slightly bloody lip, but Harry had a wand other than his own. Harry shrugged. “Gabrielle and I spent the night talking about a bunch of stuff. And on our way back, Ginny decided to attack her. They fought and Gabrielle won.” Harry handed Ginny’s wand to Remus. “This is Ginny’s; you can give it back to her when she calms down.” And with that, the two finally got back in the house.

This was a bit shorter of a chapter, I know. But I wanted it to be just the fight, the defeat of Ginny’s ‘dream’ to be with Harry. And Gabrielle certainly did that. Hope I did a satisfactory job, since I am not really able to fully detail a duel. Let me assure you all though, that chapter four we WILL see the mates consummate their bond. *Smiles* And perhaps a little more…..fighting.
