Chapter 3

The next night after dinner I went over the cabin again eager to spend more time with the three men. I knew that I was wrong for me to want to spend time with these strangers. I didn’t know who they really were only what I read in books. Yet something kept telling me that they were safe. Something told me to go and talk with them to learn who they were. I went to the back porch knocking again only to realize they were about to sit down to eat.

“Sorry I didn’t realizes that you were about to eat, I’ll come back later” I apologized quickly turning again.

“No, Mandy join us.” I heard Lucius say “Severus has made more then enough for the three of us.”

“This is the last time I’ll cook for you then.” I heard the person in context mutter sourly under his breath. I chuckled and came in.

“No thank you I just ate.” I politely refused but sat down next to Remus anyways. Soon everyone began to eat and a light conversation rose. I listened quietly not wanting to interrupt their calm dinner and taking this time to observe and learn more about these mystery men. Severus I found was acting as if he was mad at Lucius for his comments about dinner which seemed to have been going on for most of the night. Yet I could see a bit of laughter and contentment in his eyes as he listened to the teasing. Remus was laughing quietly at my side watching them too with an indescribable look in his eyes. They all seemed comfortable in each others presence as if they were friends for a long time. There were slight unconscious touches that were exchanged through out the dinner as they passed around the food and a constant presence of laughter. Something I never would have associated with the two Death Eaters.

“Mandy… Mandy” I heard one of them call as I slowly came out of my daze.

“Huh… Oh sorry I wasn’t listening.” I apologized.

“That is alright, will you tell us about Harry’s second year?” asked Remus.

“Oh of course but can we go inside I’m getting cold.” I responded as I got up go inside taking some of the dishes with me.

“Don’t worry about those we will get them later. Would you like some tea?” Severus asked.

“Yes, thank you.” He went to start the water and I began to wonder if they used any magic here at all. I knew it was a Muggle place, but in the cabin no one would know if they were wizards or not. Maybe it is me that they won’t do magic around. He comes back with tea while I was in my own world once again and I slowly come out from my daze to hear chuckling.

“What is going on in your brain that has you daze off two times this night?” Lucius inquired.

Blushing is respond, “You three, during dinner I was watching you interact and observing trying to learn as much as I can about you. Then just now I was wondering if you did any magic around here or if it was because I was in the room. I don’t know anything about you, yet I feel very comfortable in your presents.”

“We don’t do a lot of magic here it is a Muggle area. If you want to know about use just ask.” Remus responded my unasked question.

“But it’s not cause I’m here is it?” I responded a bit worried. I never wanted them to change who they were because I was in the cabin.

“Yes and No, we are not allowed to do magic in front of you since you are a Muggle but something tells me your more than just a Muggle since you could feel our magic, maybe you’re a Squib.” Said Severus

“I don’t think I have anything to do with your world I never knew it was real until last night. Anyways Harry’s second year?” I waited for everyone to settle down again for the story. “Humm this book is called the Chamber of Secrets. I’ll start off at the Dursley’s when Vernon is having the Masons over for dessert. Harry is to be in his room and not make a sound. Unfortunately Dobby a house elf has different ideas for him. He comes with a warning for Harry Potter to not return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year. Harry refuses and Dobby causes the pudding cake to fall on Mrs. Masons head. Harry is then locked up in his room for the reminder of the summer. Ron comes with Fred and George to free Harry on his birthday by using his father’s flying car and Harry spends the rest of the summer at The Borrow.” I paused then as I realized I was tell two death eaters about Harry and some inside information. What if Remus wasn’t really good and I was giving out information to get Harry and Ron killed. I froze and looked at each of the three men trying to tell if they had any ill intent.

“Mandy, is something wrong?” Severus asked.

“Yes as a mater of fact. I don’t know anything about you three. From what I know Lucius is The Dark Lords right hand man and you are…” I paused again what if Lucius didn’t know about Severus being a spy.

“A spy.” Severus finished for me.

“Yes a spy how can I know that the information that I am saying isn’t something that will cause someone to be killed. You obviously didn’t know anything about what really happened with the Stone so how do I know that you aren’t going to give this information to Voldemort.”

“You are right I am the right hand man to Voldemort but you have the wrong picture of who Voldemort is. The book obviously makes Dumbledore the hero and good guy. Many people thought that until a few years ago. We will not use the information to get anyone killed I promise you that.” Lucius said.

“How do I know that you are not lying. No I think this story is done.” I said as I got up to leave.

“Wait Mandy what can we do to prove to you that we mean not harm?” Remus asked quickly.

“I don’t know” I said uncertain of what I should do. I wanted to trust them I liked them. I wanted to tell them the story and to become their friends I wanted it all so much but I didn’t want anyone to die in the process.

“I Remus John Lupin promise on my magic and life that no one will be harmed by the given information. So mot it be.” I felt a flare of magic around him everyone stood there in shocked silence.

Then Lucius said “I Lucius Abraxas Malfoy promise on my magic and life that no one will be harmed by the given information. So mot it be.”

“I Severus Tobias Snape promise on my magic and life that no one will be harmed by the given information. So mot it be.”

I stood there silent and in shock. Why would the do that? They don’t know who I am but they are making wizarding oaths to hear a story that they could easily go and buy on there own and read. Why would they care if I was there I’m only a nineteen year old girl and most likely a brat in there minds why would they want me around.

“Why did you do that? What is this story to you?”

“I don’t want you to leave this house and never come back. I like you Mandy and want you to trust me. The story is interesting and I want to hear the end.” Said Remus

“They why don’t you go and buy the book?”

“Because I have you here to tell it to me instead.”

“Oh.” I stopped again not know what to say and looked at the other three once again before sitting down and starting the story again. “The Hogwarts letters came and they meet in Diagon Alley. Harry ends up in Knockturn Alley when he tries the floo. They meet up with this year Defenses Against the Dark arts professor and Lucius Malfoy and Draco, Lucius insults the Weasleys and puts a book into Ginny’s caldron and they leave. Then it skips to trying to get on the train but the barrier was blocked. They go to the flying car and fly to school landing in the Whopping Willow. Life went normally they were not expelled to the displeasure of Professor Snape the new Defense Professor was a waste and didn’t know anything.

“This all changed when one during detention with Professor Lockhart’s Harry heard a voice that said blood I smell blood, kill, kill, kill. He leaves detention and meets up with Ron and Hermione they follow the voice to the third floor where they see Miss. Nores petrified with the words the chamber of secrets has been open enemy’s of the heir beware written in blood. Others come and Draco repeats the words and said you’ll be next Mudbloods. Dumbledore comes and sends everyone to the room and clears up that the three of them didn’t have anything to do with the incident.

“They try to figure out about the chambers and find out that there were four founders Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowaven Ravenclaw, three of the founders strived harmoniously one of them did not. Salazar Slytherin wanted to be more selective about the students that were emitted into Hogwarts. When he couldn’t persuade the others he left the school but before doing so made a chamber that rumor says is the home of a monster that only Slytherin himself can control. He locked it until the time comes when his own true heir would come and open it again. Unleashing the horror that lived in there and by doing so delimiting all those in Slytherin’s eyes were not fit to study magic. Muggleborns.

“The three of them make Polyjuice Potion to sneak into the Slytherin common room to talk to Draco to see if he knows anything about the chambers of secrets and what’s going on. He didn’t only that his father told him this the last time the chamber was open a Mudblood died.

“During a Quidditch match Harry gets a rouge bludger and is in the hospital wing over night. During which he gets another visit from Dobby telling him once again to leave Hogwarts and the history is repeating it’s self. Collin Creeve got petrified which caused a dueling club to start. During which Draco and Harry duel each other Draco sends out a snake and Harry speaks Parsaltoung to it and tells it to not attack Justin. Now the whole school thinks that he is the heir of Slytherin since the ability is the mark of a evil wizard and Salazar was a Parsalmouth. An attack happens to Justin and then Hermione.

“They find Tom Marvolo Riddle’s diary in the girl’s bathroom but it is blank. Harry writes in it one night and finds out that someone is in the diary and finds out the Hagrid ‘opened’ the chambers. They go to visit Hagrid and he says to follow the spiders before he is sent off to Azkaban and Dumbledore is given a leave of suspension. They meet up with Aragon which is a bug spider and finds out that the creature is something the spiders fear most. They barely get out alive after Aragon’s children try to eat them.

“During a visit to see Hermione they find a piece of paper in her hand which talks about a Basilisk. It’s the king of snakes that kills people by looking it in the eyes, spiders flee before it, and the cry of a rooster is fatal. Ron asked why no one died yet, the answer no one looked at it in the eye. Collin saw it through his camera, Hermione with a mirror, Nearly Headless Nick is dead can’t die again, Justin through Nearly Headless Nick, and Miss. Nores there was water on the floor she only saw it’s reflecting. That night one of the students was taken into the chamber Ginny Weasley.

“Lockhart is going to try to get into the chambers and the boys go and try to tell him what they know only to find that he is leaving. They all go to the third floor bathroom because Moaning Myrtle is there. She died 50 years ago the same time that the chambers was open before. Harry opens the chambers and down they go they meet up the a long snake skin and Lockhart fake faints then grabs Ron’s broken wand which broke when he crashed into the tree. He then does Obliviate but the wand backfires and he is Obliviated instead the power of the spell caused the cave to begin to collapse blocking the entrance to the chambers.

“Harry goes on alone. Finds the chambers and see Ginny. Meets but with Tom who tells him that he is Voldemort and the heir to Slytherin. Calls forth the Basilisk and it chases Harry until he pulls Gryffindor’s sword out of the sorting hat oh yeah Fawkes blinded the Basilisk. He stabs the Basilisk through his brain but it bit him as well. He kills the memory of Tom which was preserved in the diary by put the fang through the book. Ginny wakes up and explains everything. Fawkes comes and heals him. They get Ron and Lockhart and fly away. Dumbledore talks to Harry about the sword and Tom and then Harry takes the Diary buts a sock in it and gives it to Lucius which then throws it to Dobby. Dobby is freed. That’s about it. For the second year. How much of it was correct?”

“Only a little bit. I regret to say that I did give Ginny Weasley the Diary but not in the way that you say. I did that through Draco he was the one that got Ginny the diary at school. At this time I was wrapped up in Voldemort’s ideal that I didn’t see the faults to them. I didn’t see that wiping out Muggleborns wouldn’t do any good.” Said Lucius. “Harry did go to the Burrow since Draco was on a vacation at the time. Ron and Draco talked about it. The Malfoy Manor was also too risky since Death Eaters could have come at any time.”

“Draco doesn’t say Mudblood he had a crush on Hermione maybe not in his second year but he had a lot of respect for her and liked her then. I’m sure that they didn’t sneak into the Slytherin Common room since Draco was trying to help them find out about the chambers. However I do remember them using the Pologies potions to get into the teachers lounge to listen in on our conversations.” Said Severus.

“Everything else was the same Draco was in the medical wing with Hermione when they went to the Chambers he didn’t know that Ginny was taken until after it all. He was very mad at that and me when he found out what the Diary was. It took Harry, Ron and Hermione almost a whole year to forgive him and trust him again.” Lucius finished the real version of what happened.

“I don’t want to tell about his third year tonight I’m getting tired can you tell me a bit about you three?” I asked yawning curling up into a tighter ball trying to leave room for others to sit and rested my head on the back of the sofa.

“Certainly, if I remember correctly you know that James bullied Severus.” Said Remus I nodded and he continues “I never went along with it I just kept quiet and tended to read sometimes I tried to stop them. I liked Severus through out Hogwarts. Lucius and Severus were both Slytherins and friends. It wasn’t until after school that the three of us became friends.”

“That seems so hard for me to believe, the Severus I learned about holds a lot of grudges. I can’t imagine him forgiving you even if you weren’t directly involved.”

“I didn’t that’s why it took so long for us to become friends. It was Lucius that became Remus’ friend first I was forced to be around him and began to like him.” Severus replied.

“The books say you like Lily is that true?” I said turning to Severus

“Ah, that was one of the mistakes that many people made about us. We were good friends I saw her as the little sister I never had and me her big brother. There were very little secrets between us. I didn’t like her marriage to Potter because of what he did to me not because I loved her.”

“You mentioned that you regret giving Ginny the Diary because you don’t agree with Voldemort ways that you don’t want to kill Muggleborns. Yet you are the right hand man to him why?”

“To make a long story short, Harry joined Voldemort and made him see some of his ideas were wrong or whorped. He and Voldemort had an alliance or agreement then, now Harry and Tom share power and running the world. I am his right hand man because I now fully agree with their ideals.” Responded Lucius.

“What are their ideals?” I asked

“They don’t want to kill off Muggles or Muggleborns but they want to make sure that the wizarding world remains a secret we are doing that by making a law that says that all Muggleborns have to spend at least five years in the wizarding world and work. We find that during this time the Muggles will create a life and not want to leave. This is not a fool proof plan but it works for the most part. We have no problem with teach Muggleborns but the family must take an oath to not say anything about the school or the wizarding word before their child can go to school. If they don’t then we Obliviate and bound them and they can be a normal Muggle child. We want to teach the students about our world, the traditions, the laws, and ways of life. That is a mandatory class for all Muggleborn students. That is the basics about what we believe.”

“That makes sense but you might want to add some introductory classes for the Muggleborns. From what I could figure out the wizard born students have some prior knowledge to how magic works and basic spells and enchantments. The Muggleborns would be lost if the teachers taught to the wizard born or the wizard born would be bored if they taught to the Muggleborns. They could even start magic school one year early to learn some of these basic skills. It’s only a suggestion if your not doing it already.” I piped in.

“That was one of the first things that were changed. They learn about our world at the same time.” Remus said.

“So I learned about Lucius but what about you Remus. If you don’t mind me asking how did you become a werewolf? What is it like? Is Wolfbane real? Did you strategically place this vacation when there was no full moon? Or are all of the Muggle versions of werewolves false? What …”

“Mandy, one question at a time, I was bit when I was just a child at 5. I was out on a full moon and wondered into the woods near my house that was where the wolf attacked me as pay back from an argument it had with my dad. It was revenge in his eyes. I’m not going to go into any details about what it’s like. Yes Wolfbane is real and Severus makes it for me every month. Before you ask it has an inhibitor that blocks some of the instincts of the wolf and allows me to keep my own mind.”

“Does it do anything for the pain? Is there any times when the wolf overpowers it? Can it become immune to the potion?” I interrupted.

“So far I have not become immune to it I don’t want to think about what would happen if the wolf took over when I was on it or if I did be come immune. No it doesn’t stop the pain of transformation. Severus is trying to come up with an updated version that does that.”

“We did plan the vacation to not be on the full moon and surprising some of the information that Muggles have is correct. We will try to kill out best friend and with out the wolfbane we are a deadly creature. There is only one exception to this is the wolf’s mate. The wolf can not hurt, bite, or harm its mate. It will protect them even when I’m on the potion and something tried to hurt my mate the wolf would take over to protect them. Yes I have a mate more than one actually; Severus and Lucius are my mates.”

“Do werewolves often have more than one mate?”

“No but some of them are lucky enough to find more than one.”

“Congratulations.” I said with a smile. They all nodded and Remus continued the story.

“A werewolf actually looks just like a regular wolf just a bit bigger. More like the size of a lion. Muggles seem to have a vision of a large animal some times you portray us completely wrong.”

“Fascinating really, Severus what about you?”

“It is getting late. Why don’t we save my story for tomorrow?” Severus said. I looked at my watch and saw that it was close to 10:30. My parents would be wondering were I was.
