After breakfast everyone either went to their common rooms or the library. Only Severus and Remus were in the hallways making their ways back to the Gryffindor common room, Remus was carrying the Slytherins book bag after fighting with him for it for near an hour. There was a silence so thick that one could barely breath and neither really knew what to say to the other, mainly because Remus knew that Severus heard what Lily had said and he also knew that he was too afraid to say anything, but something needed to be said.

“Severus…” He started.

“You were the one who…” Severus said “You…with me…in the hall”

“I don’t know why” Remus started but noted that Severus unknowingly moved closer, now his arm was brushing against his own.

“Yeah” Severus said almost nastily “Big mistake, huh?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Remus stopped and grabbed the other boys arm swinging him around to stop in front of him “What do you mean by mistake…help me god but I don’t regret anything I did last night”

“Even…” Snape looked around as if hoping the words would be written on a wall somewhere “Even…”

“Giving you a hand job?” Remus offered making the pale boys face turn bright red.

“Yes” He hissed.

“No, I don’t” Lupin spoke with more calm confidence than he felt at the moment “I don’t know what’s going on and maybe it’s just because of the darkness all around the castle but for once I’m allowing myself to feel the things I’ve felt for a while and to act on them”

“So…” Severus looked pained for a minute “You’ve wanted to…with me…for a while?”

“Not that specific action” Remus told him “But…I don’t know…maybe I’ve been interested in you for a while”

“Why?” Severus breathed as if this thought was extremely hard to understand.

“I don’t know” Was his answer “At first I thought it was because I felt guilty for not helping you when you were picked on, then I thought that maybe I was feeling bad for you”

“And now?”

“I don’t know” Remus ran a hand through his blond hair “Can’t we just…see what happens?”

“And what happens after the storm is over” Snape shot at him “What happens when the monster is gone and I am no longer in your dorm?”

“I don’t know!” Remus growled at him “I don’t know…merlins beard Severus I have no bloody idea what I’m doing or feeling and at points even thinking. I have you who I want to touch and protect all the time and then there’s Lily who is all over me each time the lights go out or we’re relatively alone and my friends. James wants Lily, I don’t know what Lily wants and Sirius wants me smother you with my pillow while you sleep. PLEASE can you just…let things happen however their supposed to for a while?”

“I-I guess” Severus said nervously “B-but what do you expect to happen?”

“With what?” Remus started walking again causing Snape to have to keep up with him.

“Us” The answer was whispered but it sounded like a shouted answer to Remus.

“I don’t know” He stopped and looked at the Slytherin “What do you want?”

“I…” He started.

“Mr. Lupin, Mr. Snape” The headmasters voice startled the two boys and caused them to jump apart “Whatever are you doing in the hallways and not safely in the common rooms or the library?”

“Professor Dumbledore” Remus greeted “If it is okay with you, sir. Severus was going to stay in the Gryffindor common room”

“I don’t usually allow that to happen” Dumbledore answered looking sternly at them “Is there a reason that you are allowing him in the common room and just where is he going to be sleeping?”

“The others in my house, sir” Severus said, walking slightly behind Remus’s tall form as if to hide himself “They lock me out of the common room, but please don’t be angry with them. I sleep in Remus’s bed with him…he doesn’t seem to mind”

“I will allow it” Albus said after a minute of silence his eyes were twinkling madly “Be good you two and please get to the common room and stay there, your magic is far too important to be stolen”

“What of you, sir?” Remus asked “Your magic is much more important than ours…I could walk you back they won’t bother me”

“You are very lucky, Mr. Snape” Dumbledore looked over his half-moon spectacles at the two boys “Mr. Lupin is strong and brave and very loyal. You have a very good man here”

“He’s…not mine sir” Severus’s face was almost purple with embarrassment.

“Oh” The headmaster looked surprised and amused “I was under the impression that you two were dating. I apologize. And no Mr. Lupin I am very capable of taking care of myself against unseen forces, have a good night you two”

“Good night, Sir” They said in unison.

“Oh and ten points to both Slytherin and Gryffindor for unity” He said as he walked away further down the hallway, Severus and Remus continued on the way to the portrait of the fat lady.

“Gillywig” Remus said, he waited but she was glaring at Severus.

“Dear” She said leaning forward to him “There’s a Slytherin right behind you”

“I know that” Remus said “He has permission to be in the common room from the headmaster”

“Okay” She swung forward “But I’m checking with him”

“Go ahead” He snapped as they went in.

Sirius, James, and Peter were crowded around a table working on DADA homework. They looked up and smiled at him and smirked at Severus none of them said anything merely watching their progression through the common room and then up the stairs to the dorm room.

“It took them an hour to come back from the dungeons?” Sirius asked “That’s a little suspicious”

“And what do you think they were doing?” James asked “Shagging?”

“I don’t know…” He trailed off but their attention was diverted back to the stairs.

“The salamander blood goes in after unicorn horn?” Remus was asking Severus, they were both holding their book bags and going through a potions book together.

“Not if you want to live” Severus answered “Unicorn horn cut in to long strips, stirred clockwise for three minutes and then the salamander blood or else it will explode”

“I hate potions” Remus groaned, sitting heavily in the chair at the table next to his three friends “I’m dreadful at it”

“You just need patience” Severus assured “I’ll help you…if you like”

“That would be nice” Remus muttered.

His friends went back to their homework assignments and tried not to pay much attention to those two. Under the table Remus moved his foot closer to Severus’s and waited for him to answer but there was nothing so he lightly kicked the side of his foot again and waited for the answer. There was a sigh and then an answering kick (a little bit harder than needed) came his way and Severus looked at him and raised an eyebrow at him and within minutes their heads were rather close together, whispering about all the different classes they were taking and all the homework that they had. Under the table their feet were rubbing against each other, Remus’s left hand and Severus’s right was under the table not doing anything naughty just running their hands over each-others and smiling, blushing at each other. Then a note slid Remus’s way from Lily who was sitting at the other end of the table.

LE: Remus, this is going to sound weird but are you and Sev dating?

RL: No, why do you ask that?!

LE: Because I’ve been watching you guys for a while and…you look really cute.

RL: Cute? How do you mean?

LE: Looking at each other, playing footsies, touching each-others hands… it’s sweet really.

RL: Did you just want to ask that?

LE: I want you to meet me tonight.

RL: Where?

LE: A classroom or ROR?

RL: No, I don’t you leaving the common room it’s too dangerous. Why are we meeting at all?

LE: I still want to pay you back for getting Severus.

RL: And what about him?

LE: Bring him.

RL: Fine. I’ll ask him.

There was a moment of the two talking quietly and then the paper moved back to Lily.

RL: Severus said he’ll come along but we want to sleep at some point. What time would you like to meet?

LE: Two. That is the perfect time.

RL: Okay, see you then.

~~~10pm~~~

There was to actually be Quidditch practice the next day at around ten in the morning so Sirius and James went to bed earlier than normal and complained at Remus until he and Severus too agreed to go to bed. With Severus’s help Remus was all caught up in every class and he would be able to calm his nerves a little more and not worry so much. Remus and Severus walked out of the bathroom and made their way to the shared bed and sat down, Remus stood and left the room for a minute saying he would be back soon, Severus watched the other boys throw stuff around and talk about the “monster” and if they should try to capture it.

“What about you, Snivellous?” Sirius asked “You want to be our bait?”

“N-no” Severus looked at his hands that were in his lap.

“Oh come on, Snape” James said “We’d only let it suck a little magic out of you”

“W-where’s Remus?” Severus asked noting that his only ally in the Gryffindor house was still missing.

“He’s out right now” Sirius moved on to the bed next to Severus “He’ll be back in like… an hour, maybe two”

“Where’d he go?” Severus asked.

Before he was able to get up or even ask another question Sirius had him slammed down on the bed on his stomach shoving his face deep in to the pillow to muffle his screams of shocked rage. He heard him say something to someone else and then felt his hands being tied together and then his ankles were tied together so tight that he couldn’t move anything. Then he was lifted and started to move only to stop right away, the lack of air from before made his head spin and he could hear yelling but he wasn’t sure from what or who.

“What the hell are you doing?” Remus asked from the doorway as he noticed his friends were carrying something to the door and then he realized that the bundle of blankets they were holding had legs…Severus’s legs.

“We’re just playing” Sirius said, shuffling his feet under the scrutiny of his best friend “He was in on it”

“Oh it looks like it” Remus pointed to the ropes holding his limbs together “Let him go”

“Oh come on, Remus” Peter squeaked

“LET HIM GO!” Remus screamed making all three boys jump back.

“Fine” Sirius snapped and then just let Snape go so that he landed heavily on the floor. Remus glared at them and ran over to him to see if he was okay which he was just a little upset and in pain.

Remus picked him up and unceremoniously dropped him in the bed (he was heavier than he looked) once they both were safely in bed and the lights were out Remus turned to Severus and pulled him closer pressing small kisses to his neck and shoulders, trying everything that he could think of to make him feel better and to forget about what they just tried to do to him. It was a few drawn out minutes (that were filled with whispers from the other boys) before Severus turned and looked at him smiling shyly before burying his face in his naked chest and hoping the other boy didn’t realize there were dried tears on his cheeks. Remus did in fact notice that he had been crying however he decided that saying something about it would do more damage than good so he left it alone and just held him. Remus had had big plans about what would happen that night, something with a lot of touching, maybe a little kissing…really just seeing how far Snape would let him go and a way to establish his dominance but after what he’d just been through…no it wouldn’t due to molest him now. At one thirty Remus opened his eyes and was looking right in to Severus’s black ones, before he could ask what was happening he pointed at the clock and whispered.

“Time to see Lily for your repayment”
