It was dark. Harry couldn't think of any other word to describe the total lack of sensory input he was currently experiencing. The loss of touch and sound was disconcerting, but it was the complete lack of any light or vision that was truly worrying him. He had never liked being stuck in the dark. "Hello?" he attempted to speak, but to his horror, heard and felt nothing. Not so much as a squeak emerged from his tight throat. Attempts to move his arms and legs resulted in more of the same, it was like they no longer even existed. Not even death had been this strange.

Draco was fuming. Again. All he had wanted was to try and speak with Potter, and now this! Of all the indignities. He had managed to sneak up behind Scarhead and just as he grabbed his shoulder hoping to startle Potter, Potter, and therefor himself, was hit with an electric blue jet of light. That was the last thing Draco could recall. Now he seemed to be stuck in a strange form of sensory deprivation spell that he could never recall hearing of before. "Merlin's Balls! This is uncomfortable! Damn that stupid Potter and his stupid propensity for trouble! I never should have bloody tried to talk to him in the first place!" Or at least Draco thought that's what he said, but he couldn't tell if anything had actually come out at all. However, Draco knew that he had to talk to Potter no matter what. Potter was the only one who could possibly understand what he had gone through during those last days of the war. If only Draco could get through to Potter, perhaps they could... But no, it would never work out like that. All he had left at Hogwarts was Severus.

"Where is that boy!?" Severus muttered under his breath while stalking back towards his rooms from the Slytherin dormitories. It was 5 past 10 o'clock and Draco still hadn't returned to his house. It wasn't like Draco to be breaking curfew, or at least without a very good reason, amended Severus. When he reached his rooms, he dropped into the very comfortable leather chair before the fire and steepled his hands before his face to think. The last he had seen of Draco was this morning as he slithered out of the Great Hall. No doubt he was perusing Harry Potter. Severus snorted, "Bloody hell, the boy thinks no one has noticed his recent fixation." Then again, perhaps they haven't. Severus was so in-tuned to both boys, that it was likely he was the only person in Hogwarts to have noticed the strange behaviors both Draco and Potter were exhibiting. Severus was roused from his contemplations as the fire turned green and the Headmistress' head appeared.

"Severus, have you accounted for all of your students?" Minerva asked politely. She observed the slight pause before Severus answered her question with an "Of course, Headmistress." Narrowing her eyes on him, she said, "Severus, now is not the time to be covering for any of your wayward snakes. Harry Potter is missing."

The news was like an ice cube slipping down his spine. Straightening and giving his full attention to the head in his fire, Severus dumbly repeated, "Missing?"

"Yes, Severus. Gone, not a trace of him in the castle or grounds, nor has he been seen in Hogsmeade all day. The last reliable sighting was at breakfast." Minerva sighed. That boy was forever getting into trouble. Hopefully, it wasn't serious this time.

Severus' mind was racing at this information. Draco was gone too. Had something happened to them? Should he inform the Headmistress? Protocol and caution were warring inside of him. If he told her Draco was gone also, would she automatically assume the worst of him? Or if there was actually something dreadfully wrong, would his withholding crucial information prove to be deadly for one if not both of the students? At the word students ringing through his brain, Severus knew what he had to do. It was his duty to protect the students, and the best way to do that was full disclosure with the Headmistress.

"Draco is missing as well." was Severus' abrupt statement half startling Minerva out of her morbid contemplations. "Oh, dear." was her only thought.
