***Chapter Three
Hermione didn’t know how the take down went so wrong! One minute she was speaking to Nott and the next she was running through the streets of Boston, hot on his trail. What was worse was that she was doing so with blood dripping down her face from her nose that was now broken thanks in large part to that ass punching her.
She ran after him as if she were the Furies themselves, relentlessly and without a drop of mercy. Hermione ended up jumping onto the hood of a car breaking in the middle of the street to avoid hitting the fool she was after and took down Nott with a flying tackle.
She was yanking him off of the ground, snarling, “You couldn’t just give me the answers, could you?”
“Weigh enough, don’t you, Granger?” Nott sneered, only to have her ram her knee up as she yanked his head down to meet it.
Having knocked him out, she muttered a curse as she picked up his arms and began to yank him out of the street. One minute she was struggling and the next she was getting help in the form of a tall Texan. He pushed her gently aside and yanked him up off of the ground, throwing the unconscious man over his shoulder.
He turned and looked over to her. “Where do you want him?”
She stared at him a moment. “My van is this way.” She motioned with her thumb back from where they had come from. They walked in silence a minute before she asked, “To what do I owe this company?”
“You jumped onto the hood of my car and dove from it to tackle this guy,” he said, grinning. “Nice move.”
“Thank you,” she murmured.
“He got you good,” he told her, looking at her nose. “Is it broken?”
“I haven’t a clue,” she admitted. “Once I get him back to where we need to go, I’ll worry about that then.”
“Here,” he said, handing her a handkerchief. “You can get the blood at least.”
“Thank you,” she replied, taking it and making quick work of cleaning herself up. “Did that whatever you guys were doing work out?”
His eyes flicked over to her, but he said nothing.
“I’ll take that as it’s either not any of my business or it’s not finished yet.” She paused with a grin. “Or both.”
That had the corner of his mouth going up in a small grin. “Maybe.”
They got to a minivan and she opened up the side door, allowing Eliot to drop Nott into the back. He closed the door, looking over to her watching him.
“I just wanted to thank you,” he told her. “For that info. You didn’t have to do that.”
She nodded, saying, “Sometimes there is unaccounted for information, especially when you don’t know all the players involved. It usually takes a person outside of the action to see it for what it is.”
He nodded slowly to this.
She went to the driver’s side of the car, letting herself into it. “Thank you for your assistance. I don’t think I could have gotten him over here on my own.” Starting the car, she said, “I’ll find a way to get your handkerchief back over to you.”
“Don’t worry about that,” he said, watching her putting on her safety belt. “Get that nose looked at.”
She nodded and drove off, watching him getting smaller in the rearview mirror. Absently she wondered if he realized just whose van it was she was driving. A small smile came to her face, as she drove into the garage of the building they were using as a base of operations. She wasn’t planning on keeping it, she reasoned with herself. And it wasn’t as if she thought she would literally run across Eliot Spencer or any of the others that day. She started laughing and kept on doing so until the doors to the garage were completely shut and she was forced to go back to work. Yeah, some days were just so unreal.

“Lucille is missing!” Hardison exclaimed for what felt to the others the hundredth time. “Where is my van?!” Lifting his hands and looking skyward. “Oh Lord! Why have you forsaken me?”
This only had Parker looking over to Nate, who in turn rolled his eyes as he asked, “Did you check for the…”
“Of course I checked for the satellite detection! It’s like my poor little baby fell off of the map!” Sniffling he went over to the computer and began looking for it yet again.
“You do know you’re talking about a van, right?” Parker asked him.
This only gained her a glare from Hardison, as he kept working. Sophie walked over to him, rubbing his shoulders.
“Being upset like this isn’t helping you at all,” she told him calmly.
He stopped typing and whispered, “It’s my baby. It’s hit me hard.” Taking a deep breath, he looked over to her. “I don’t know what I’ll do if she’s gone.”
“Sure you do,” she murmured. “You’re going to mourn, buy a new van, name it Lucille the second and live for a bigger brighter tomorrow.” She looked out as if to a new day. “I can see it, can’t you?”
Stepping up next to her, Parker looked out to what she thought the other woman was looking at and said, “Nope. Not a thing.” When Sophie looked at her disbelieving, she offered up her opened cereal box that she had been eating from. “Want some?”
“No thank you,” she said, looking back over to Hardison. “You have to relax, Alec.”
Hardison let his head drop onto his folded arms, trying as he might to pull himself back together again. He was still like that five minutes later when Eliot came into the office.
Frowning at Hardison, he asked Nate, “What’s with him?”
“Someone stole the van,” Parker told him. “And Sophie is seeing things that aren’t there.”
“I was attempting to help him with positive visualization!” she told her. Looking over to him, she asked, “So where have you been, Eliot? We were expecting you a half an hour ago.”
“I ran across that mystery lady.” This had all of them looking over to him. “Or I should say she ran across me.” He told them what happened. “Excellent dive.” He looked over to Nate. “I would never have thought a little thing like her would have had that much punch, but there you go.”
Hardison got up and went over to him. “You mean to say that you helped her carry an unconscious man over to a van? What kind was it?”
“Econoline,” he told him.
Lips pinched, he pointed over to Eliot as he looked over to Nate. “I bet you she’s the one that took it!”
“It didn’t even look like yours,” he said, knowing he might be lying, as he didn’t even take notice of the van at all. Eliot then looked over to Nate. “And we now have something we didn’t have before.”
“What’s that?” Nate asked.
“A last name to go along with that first name we got from the diner.”
