Chapter 3
Sirius was apprehensive as he walked to the park across the street from Grimmauld Place. The plan was to meet PJ again, something he assumed was for another romp in bed. However, this time it wasn't in neutral territory. PJ had sent a family Portkey to the home he was staying in. The only ones that tended to have those were the old Pureblood families. And they were the really old ones with long family lines. Though the man assured him he was safe and it wasn't a trap, that didn't mean Sirius wasn't slightly worried. He could defend himself just fine, so he was going to go for it. The lure of that nice tight arse was too good to turn down.
Stepping into a part of the park that was slightly hidden, he looked down at the Portkey, shaking his head. Thinking it over again quickly, he then stiffened his spine and activated it, feeling the familiar tug behind his navel and was taken away.Landing in the front room of a house, Sirius looked around, brow furrowed. The place looked abandoned. Everything here, from the furnishings to the curtains, looked heavily worn and damaged from years of exposure to the elements. Not to mention there was about an inch thick layer of dust and dirt on everything. That had his danger signals going off. However, he was quickly distracted by a voice saying his name.Seated on the edge of an ancient, damaged cabinet of some kind, PJ grinned at his godfather then said, folding his arms over his chest, “Nothing to worry about, Sirius. I swear on my magic. This is one of the homes I was willed from my father. The front room was designed to look like this so if anyone does stumble across it and gets through the wards they'll think it's long abandoned.” Standing up, he said, “Come on, I'll get you through the wards to the main part of the house. I promise, I'm the only person here.”Nodding at that, Sirius now understood. That was a standard protection many put on older homes, something like Hogwarts did for Muggles. “Good. Was getting worried there,” Sirius admitted, stepping closer to PJ and taking the elbow the man offered when he stood.“Nothing to worry about, I swear,” PJ told him, leading him through the false wall that took them into the main part of the house. Gesturing to a chair, he offered him a beer.Taking a seat, Sirius nodded to that then took the good German dark beer the man handed him. Cracking it open, he took a sip then sighed. PJ, apparently, had good taste in beer because this was a great one. Leaning back, he waited to see what was going on as PJ took a seat across the coffee table from him.Looking at his godfather, PJ grinned but wasn't sure where to start. He was apprehensive because of what happened a couple of days before. However, he was going to press on. Quietly, he said, “I want you to know something up front.” Seeing Sirius look wary, he shook his head then said, “Nothing horrible, I promise. It's not related to this damned war or anything like that.” When Sirius nodded, he said, quietly, “We know each other, Sirius. And have for years. What happened the other night—well, damn, it didn't go as planned. What I intended to do was tell you who I was when we got to my room. Then you pinned me to the wall and my lower head started thinking for me instead of the upper one. I'm sorry for that. I should have stopped it and don't know why I didn't.”Taking in how PJ looked, Sirius shook his head, not sure what to make of this. Quietly, he said, keeping an eye on PJ, “I don't recognize you.” This—he wasn't sure what to do now or how this could affect him.“The looks are a glamour, at least slightly, and the eye color is color changing contacts,” PJ explained. Lifting his wand, he removed the glamour and changed the contacts to his true eye color. Looking at his godfather, he grinned, saying, “That better?” Then he waited to see if Sirius recognized him.Though something was starting to jog loose, and not in a bad way, Sirius shook his head. “Sorry, it's not clicking.” Along with that, he was getting more wary than he was before. Something was off here and he wasn't sure if it was a trap.Chuckling and looking up at the ceiling, PJ shook his head. “I guess Toonie was right; I don't look like I used to at all. If you don't recognize me, I must have really changed over the years.” Holding up a hand, he said, “Give me a minute. I'll get something to give you a hint. Nothing bad, I promise.” Seeing Sirius give a wary nod, PJ stood to go get Hedwig. The name Toonie—something about it was familiar as well. He just couldn't place where he knew it from. On edge, something telling him to get out of there, Sirius ignored it as his danger instincts weren't going off. Besides, he wanted to know who the hell this was! It was niggling him, hard, and he had to know or it would make him barmy trying to figure it out.Coming back in with Hedwig on his arm, Poe was flying behind repeating Lenore over and over. Chuckling at the raven and his crush on his oldest friend, he sat back down, stroking Hedwig's back as Poe perched on the back of his chair. Looking at Sirius, he asked, “Recognize her, Sirius?”Relaxing again as there didn't seem to be anything off now, Sirius looked at the owl. Something was starting to click, but nothing was sliding fully into place. Shaking his head, he told PJ, “No, sorry. Something is familiar here, but I don't know what.”Laughing, PJ said, “Bloody hell! This is great! I guess I am safe back here, even without the glamour!” Shaking his head, still grinning, he said, “Sirius, focus on my eyes and her,” gesturing to Hedwig. He now wondered how long it would take his godfather to get who he was.Looking at those green eyes then glancing to the owl before looking back, Sirius started getting flashes that didn't seem related. They were of the year he escaped from Azkaban and Harry. Then, slowly, the gears began to grind as more images of his godson from that year played out. Then the one of Harry getting on the Night Bus holding an owl cage played out. Eyes widening as he focused on the distinctive snow owl, his mouth dropped open. Then he whispered, “Harry?”“Finally! He gets it,” PJ laughed, nodding. “Yeah, Sirius, it's me.”Up and out of his chair, Sirius put his beer down then dragged his godson out of his chair and into a bear hug. Holding him close, grinning, eyes stinging with tears, he muttered, “Bloody hell, Harry, I missed you! You don't even look remotely like you used to!”Holding Sirius close, PJ told him, “I missed you too!”Breaking the hug off, Sirius held him at arm's length, looking at him. “You look fantastic! You've definitely changed!” Glancing at his forehead, he asked, “Where is the scar?”“Long gone. It was surgically removed the year I left,” PJ told him.“How? It's a curse scar! They can't do that,” Sirius said, puzzled.“They tell you that here, yeah. Other countries aren't the same way,” PJ explained. “They used a combination of Muggle and Wizarding plastic surgery to do it.”Then, slowly, the encounter a couple of days before began to play out along with the reason he was here. Groaning, Sirius clutched his hair in both hands. “Shite! Oh, bloody hell! Why didn't you say something the other night!”“I planned to,” PJ told him honestly, shaking his head and looking at the floor. “I just wasn't going to in the bar. First of all, everyone knows who your godson is. There was no way in hell I was going to mention that to you there. Plus, you probably wouldn't have believed me, what with how different I look. So, I planned to tell you when I got you to the hotel room. Then, well, shite—Sirius, no one, ever, since I discovered sex, has done that to me. I'm a bit too dominant for anyone to even try it. It's my fault, I admit it. I should have stopped it when you gave me the chance.” Looking at his obviously stressed godfather, he added, quietly, “Don't beat yourself up over it. I was in that place for the same reason you were. No judgments from this end, I swear.”
“Shite!” Sirius muttered, horrified at what happened. Firmly, he stated, “We're forgetting that ever happened and moving on!”“Easier said than done,” PJ mumbled, shaking his head. Sighing, he said, “We just press on. It happened, it's over and done, so we go from there.”“We are never even mentioning it again,” Sirius told him, walking back over and flopping in his chair. Taking a drink of his beer, he changed topics, not even wanting to ponder what happened. Grinning, he asked, “You finally going to give up where you were, Harry?”“I'll tell you,” PJ told him, sitting back down and petting Hedwig, who was perched on the arm of his chair, glaring at the yammering Poe. Quietly, he said, “You need to call me, PJ though. That's my name now and I don't want it to slip out who I really am.”“Your mum and dad, both, picked out that name for you,” Sirius told him quietly.“I'm named after both of them, Sirius,” PJ told him with a smile. “PJ comes from Potter, James and my middle name is Evan. Aunt Toonie picked it so I was named after both of them. She wanted to honor them, and their sacrifice, with my name.”Smiling at that, Sirius nodded. “I get it now. Good.” Brow furrowed, he said, “Aunt Toonie?”“Aunt Petunia,” PJ explained. “She's the reason I got to have a normal life. How about we get into that later. I promise, I have something that will explain all of it. It's something I want you to see anyway.”Mind working over that, Sirius shook his head then said, “Everyone talked to your aunt and uncle after you vanished.”“No, they talked to Uncle Vernon,” PJ grinned. “Aunt Toonie let him do all the talking so nothing slipped and she didn't have to lie. Uncle Vernon has no idea where I am or what happened to me. She did everything behind his back.”Thinking back over the encounters with Harry's aunt and uncle, Sirius realized Harry was right. It was Vernon they all tried to interrogate over it. Petunia said nothing. Grinning, he said, “She did a damned good job there! No one got anything out of them!”“Aunt Toonie is smarter than anyone gives her credit for,” PJ told him with a nod.“She hated you, Harry,” Sirius told him, brow furrowed. They all knew how Harry's relatives treated him, so he didn't understand that.“PJ,” PJ corrected softly. “No, she doesn't, Sirius. She loves me. I swear. She just had a front to put on for everyone. That's all it was. I swear, that'll be explained later too.”“PJ,” Sirius corrected himself with a nod, making a mental note to remember that because he completely understood why his godson needed him not to say his real name. “Where were you? Albus, and everyone else, looked all over the place!”“Rio,” PJ told him, grinning again. “I went to Bruxaria. He was not going to get anything out of Madam Marie, no matter what he tried. She would have hexed him into oblivion if he even started questioning her, after she beat him mercilessly with any handy paperwork on her desk! Besides, I was legally PJ Broadmoor by then. As I was a minor, the name change was sealed. It was done by my legal guardian, so it never came out. I lived there year round with plenty of others. It was great, Sirius. I learned more there than I ever would have at Hogwarts because the curriculum was different. We not only learned magic, but the basic skills taught in Muggle schools as well. When I graduated, I went on to uni at UC Berkeley. Now, I have a job I adore and do something else that I love even more. I lived in the states up until now. As big as it is there, no one was going to find me.”“Good! You're happy! I knew that from the letters, but it's great to hear that you are doing something you like,” Sirius grinned. “What kind of job do you have?”
“Just so we're clear here, though I already know you won't say anything to anyone, this can't go anywhere beyond these walls. I don't want it out, Sirius,” PJ told him softly.
“Of course not,” Sirius assured him firmly, understanding that. “Like always. The only one I talk to about it is Remus, as I've told you before. He keeps it to himself as well.”Nodding at that, PJ pressed on, “I'm a writer, believe it or not.”Grinning hugely, Sirius said, “Bloody hell! I would never have guessed! What do you write and would I have heard of you?”“You've heard of me, you just didn't realize it,” PJ laughed. “I write novels under my real name, actually. I do alright there, but it's just starting. I have two out. They did okay. I have a third coming out in a few weeks. That's not the main source of income though.”“Let me go grab the article and other bits on it. I'll let you read it then will explain the best I can.” Seeing Sirius nod, PJ got up to retrieve the article.
Running both hands through his hair then scrubbing one over his mouth, Sirius looked at the mass of papers spread out on the coffee table. Shaking his head, he didn't even know where to start. Looking at his godson, he finally asked, “Are you sure all of what's here is true?”
“It is,” PJ confirmed with a firm nod of his head. “I did most of the research for the chunk where it deals with me. I did a bit on Dumbledore, but not a lot as I didn't want to draw his attention. The rest of the Order and the Death Eaters, Du Bois did or the research department came up with it. All of it's factual. I even have the documentation to back it up, as you saw, when it comes to the Horcrux and Prophecy part. Same with some of the others.” Grinning a bit and chuckling, he added, “And if all you lot thought Hermione was good at research in school, I can safely say I leave her in the dust now. I had to take classes to learn to do it at uni. So, trust me, I know what I'm doing.”Chuckling at that and nodding, Sirius reached out then picked up the two papers with the Horcrux part and Prophecy. Smoothing down his goatee, he shook his head as he read them. “You are sure this is why Albus is still looking for you?”“Positive,” PJ told him firmly. “I'm damned sure he knows I was a Horcrux and is following that prophecy. Nowhere in that damned thing does it say I have to face that madman and I won't. I refuse to get drawn into this mess, Sirius. If he's that manipulative, he's hiding too much. I'm not putting myself into the hands of someone that can't tell me the whole truth. No chance. I'm not the little boy I was when I left. And I refuse to play these games with people anymore. Harry Potter is gone forever. I want that out there and as clear as I can get it. He's not coming back and won't help in this war.”“Understood,” Sirius sighed, shaking his head as he looked around at all the documents again. Rubbing the fingers of one hand with the other, Sirius didn't know what to say as he looked at some of what was there. Lifting his eyes to his godson, he asked, quietly, “Why did you do this?”“Because it's time,” PJ sighed, scrubbing a hand through his hair. “I doubt it's going to stop Dumbledore from looking for me, but others will. It's also laying to rest so many of the theories of what happened to me. Many deserve to know I'm not dead. That and I want them to understand things weren't always what they seemed, like with Aunt Toonie. There's also the fact that I want it clear that I won't get pulled in. Nothing anyone can do will manage that. If they want this coming war to end, they need to do it. Harry Potter won't step in. That means everyone else needs to get their heads out of their arses and do what needs done. With this war coming, something we all know is almost a sure-fire bet, other than the deniers and Ministry, I know how bad it will get if what happened to Harry Potter is still a mystery. Especially because of that prophecy. So, it needed put out there to lay it to rest.”Staring at PJ, Sirius thought that over then gave a slow nod. “I get it. Are you sure you're going to be safe, Ha-PJ? I mean, that no one can trace you? I know they haven't managed to this point, but when this comes out plenty are going to try.”“I'll be fine,” PJ soothed. “No one will manage as so many of the records about this are sealed. Du Bois is someone I know well. He was my mentor when I started as a reporter. One of the things he made sure of was that nothing went in that will give away anything about my identity or where I’m going. On top of that, Switzerland is safe. Then there's the fact that I know how to protect and defend myself. It's nothing to worry about. This article isn't going to hit until I let them know I'm in Switzerland and safe. That we worked out. It's just more protection.”“The bloke that wrote this article better watch his back,” Sirius observed, still rubbing his fingers as he glanced at the papers again. “Not only is Albus going to try to find him to get information, what he found on the Death Eaters is going to have that faction focused on him.”“Du Bois can handle himself, trust me there,” Harry grinned. “He hasn't managed to do what he has over the years by being defenseless. Besides, he lives in the states. They would have to go there to try anything. Then there's the fact the laws in the states are very different than here when it comes to things you can do to defend yourself. They can use the Killing Curse and so many others if they are in a life-threatening situation. So, he's fine.”Sighing, Sirius shook his head then asked, “You're alone with all this? I mean, you don't have anyone close that's going to help keep an eye on you?”“I am, but it's nothing to worry about. I can take care of myself, Sirius,” PJ assured him. “I excelled at Defense in school, though where I went it was called Standard Skills. Don't worry about me.”“I can't help it,” Sirius sighed. “Every Death Eater out there is going to try to find you once this hits. You-Know-Who won't be deterred by you claiming you want to stay out of the mess. He wants you dead. That prophecy is what he's following as well. And since you're giving up the whole thing, it might make it worse. That's putting you in serious danger if you're alone all the time. Albus won't hurt you, but others will.” Looking up, he gazed at his godson and told him, “I would feel better if you had someone around to protect you.”“I'm fine,” PJ reiterated. “Nothing to worry about, Sirius. I make damned sure I stay safe because I have a self-preservation streak now. The time of me blindly running into something without thinking is long over. The same with doing something reckless because I think I can help. No, I keep a wary eye out and think things through before doing them. Besides, I'm making sure my home is as fortified as I can get it.”Reaching up and rubbing his eyes then smoothing down his goatee again, Sirius said, “I want you with me, PJ. That way I can keep an eye on you. Shite, this is going to end up a nightmare and you need someone watching your back for people who might manage to find you.”“Sirius, I'm good. I swear it,” PJ told him again. “Switzerland isn't the UK. It's safer there. Besides, no one knows where I'll be. There's nothing to worry about.”Thinking that over, Sirius wasn't convinced. On top of that, he wanted PJ around to get to know him. The letters were great over the years, but he wanted to get to know the man across from him because he wasn't anything like the godson he remembered. Looking at PJ, he said, “Come stay with me. I'll protect you. Remus lives there as well. Between the two of us, we can make sure you're safe.”Chuckling and grinning, PJ shook his head, “Sirius, your home is the Order headquarters!” He knew that from letters from his godfather. “Bloody hell, that's like dropping me directly in the middle of the mess! Not to mention you're going to have a bitch of time explaining who I am and why you moved me in. Just trust me when I say I'll be safe and you don't to worry about it.”The more he thought about it, the more he liked that idea. Galvanized, sure it could work, his mind started racing over the problems that needed figured out. Straightening up, scrubbing his hands through his hair, he said, “We can get around that. Just—let me think!”“Sirius, honestly, I don't need protecting! I am very capable of defending myself,” PJ told him firmly.“I don't think you realize what this will unleash! You might be able to take on one or two of them, but not the numbers that might come after you,” Sirius shot back, looking at him. “Just—please, PJ. For once, let me protect you. That's my job and what your parents wanted me to do. I'll make damned sure no one but Remus knows who you are and we'll have a believable reason for you living there, one that won't give away who you are.”“Sirius--” PJ started, looking at him and shaking his head, “it's not going to work. And it's unneeded. I have all this worked out. Just leave it and let it play out. If it comes to the point that I need help protecting myself, I'll let you know. I've been in plenty of dangerous situations covering stories since I started. This won't be any worse than that. Especially since they won't even know where to start looking for me. That'll probably be the states anyway, if they think they know something. Let them look there. It's huge and they won't even know where to start.”“Please! All these years I've not asked anything of you other than to see you. I always got why you didn't do that until now. Now I understand it even more. This once let me do something! We'll manage,” Sirius said, looking at him intently. Lowering his voice, he added, “Please, PJ. For me. As a favor. Let me do this.”Sighing, looking down, PJ thought that over. There were very few people in his life that he would even consider something like this from. In fact, there were only two; Sirius and Aunt Toonie. In fact, it was hard to turn down. “Sirius--”he said, shaking his head.“Please! I swear, we'll find something as a good reason you're there.” Sirius almost begged.“Sirius—bloody hell! I'm a reporter that's going to help cover this mess. Dropping me in Order headquarters where I'll end up hearing a shite-load of information isn't something anyone needs. Especially if I can get a good story out of it,” PJ told him, exasperated. “That's a monumentally bad idea.”“I'll make it clear you want nothing to do with the Order and no one will try to recruit you,” Sirius told him firmly, mind working on the myriad of problems to overcome so they could make this work. “You stay away from all of it and you don't get information. That is easy enough.”Shaking his head and folding him arms over his chest, leaning back, he asked, “And how are you even going to explain my presence without raising eyebrows?”Scrubbing both hands through his hair, Sirius thought about that then blurted out, “We'll tell them you're my lover.”“Oh, that's nicely ironic, Sirius,” PJ chuckled, grinning from ear to ear.
Groaning, Sirius muttered, “Don't even mention that! We aren't ever going to discuss it again. It'll work though! Everyone knows I like both sexes. As good-looking as you are, they'll get it. Remus can back it up. Hell, we can say part of the truth; we both have known you since you were young. That will help with suspicion.”“No, it won't. It's just going to get people trying to figure out who the bloody hell I really am!” PJ shot back.“We give up the truth there with you being a novelist. You have the books to prove it! We can also give up the truth of you were educated abroad. Plenty are anymore,” Sirius told him, firming up in his mind that this was workable. Mind racing, he added, “You can just make it clear to anyone that asks too many questions that it's none of their business. I'm sure you don't have a problem doing that or knowing what to pass along that's the truth to get them off track.”“I would, yes,” PJ admitted as he had to do that plenty of times over the years to hide who he really was. “Sirius, this is going to draw me into this nightmare. Aunt Toonie did all she could to get me out of it. There is no chance I want dropped back in.”“You won't be,” Sirius told him firmly, looking at him. “I'll keep you out. I swear I will.”“Sirius—please don't do this. It won't work,” PJ sighed, looking at his godfather.“Please!” Sirius said emphatically. “I screwed up all those years ago. I should have gone to get you rather going after Peter. I want to protect you now. This is the only way I can do that.” Softening his tone, he added, “I want to get to know you because I never had that chance. First it was because I had to hide after escaping. Then you vanished. You're back in my life and I want to finally have the chance to get to know you. I can't do that if you go to Switzerland. Please, PJ! I'll beg if I have to.”Looking at his godfather, PJ sighed then shut his eyes. This was hard to turn down for many reasons. Not only was Sirius asking something of him that he understood, but he wanted to get to know his godfather as well. Shaking his head after several minutes of thinking it over, he said, tone having a heavy sigh to it, “Alright. How are we going to work this? All my stuff is here as the house isn't ready just yet. The two elves I have can move it. They come with of course.”“Let me go back and have Remus expand my room then put up every protection he can come up with on it. I'll give him the story to feed to everyone. Once we get there we'll explain who you really are and he'll get what I want him to do. When I get back here, the elves can start moving everything. We'll just bring along what you don't want them to move and the birds.” Glancing at the dozing Hedwig, he said, distractedly, “And find a way to keep everyone from seeing Hedwig.”“That's not a problem,” Harry said, looking at his girl with a small smile. “She sleeps almost all the time anymore. She's an old lady now. I found out that she was older when Hagrid bought her for me from a vet. By now, she's really old by bird standards. I feed her rather than her going out hunting. Plus, she doesn't seem to want to go out anyway.”“Good,” Sirius told him with a vigorous nod. “We can do this. You'll be in my room but with a partition and your own bed. That way it doesn't appear off to anyone. We can make damned sure no one can get into that room but the three of us.”Looking at his godfather, wondering what he just got himself into, PJ nodded. “Go do that end and I'll get started on this one.” Giving the coordinates to Apparate back into, PJ stood to get started packing and getting the birds ready.Pulling his godson into a tight hug, Sirius gave him a hearty clap on the back as he grinned from ear to ear. There were problems with this, but they would find a way around them.
Remus didn't like this situation, not at all, as he looked at the man carrying the birdcage in with him. Glancing down at the covered cage, hearing a veritable chorus of the words nevermore, rapping and tapping, he didn't know what to think. All he knew by this point was that Sirius was moving someone in. He said that he would explain it when they got there. However, he was to pass along to the rest of the Order that the man was his lover. That was beyond strange anyway and had him wondering just what was going on. Sirius wasn't known for having a steady lover, just wanting to have some fun.
Looking at the person introduced as PJ, Remus was on edge. Quietly, he said, “I have your room fortified with all I could think of, Sirius. And expanded. I'll let you take it from there.”“Good,” Sirius said with a vigorous nod. Looking down at the cage he was holding, grinning a bit as he knew it was Hedwig, he said, “PJ's elves will handle most of the moving. We gave them instructions on what to do and where to go. So, I imagine they are hard at it. On the upside, we have two competent elves to take over everything in the house.” Looking at PJ he said, “Alright, follow me. Just keep your voice down around the painting, as I explained.” Looking at Remus, who didn't appear to be at all happy with the situation, he jerked his head towards the stairs. “Follow us. I promise, I'll explain everything and you'll get it.”Sighing, Remus began to trail along as the two moved. “You better, Sirius. I've already sent word out that you have someone moving in. I doubt anyone is happy.” Eying PJ as he walked up the stairs, he added, lowering his voice, “And this better be good because I do not want dragged into the middle of a nightmare.”“Just trust me. All you have to do,” Sirius told him.Shaking his head and sighing again, Remus followed, apprehensive.
Pleased with what he saw of the room and how the elves already had plenty there, including perches for the birds and a big bed for his godson, Sirius watched as PJ pulled Poe out of the cage then had him move to the perch. Looking at the wary Remus, who was glancing at PJ then back to him, he just grinned at his friend. “Give me a minute to get some extra wards up then we'll start explaining.”
Flopping in a chair to wait, Remus kept looking between PJ, who was pulling objects out of a satchel and backpack, to Sirius. This was beyond strange. He could understand what Sirius saw in the man, of course. That was obvious, as PJ was quite good-looking. However, he knew that Sirius had no steady lover. This PJ he had mentioned once just a few days ago, though he didn't give details about anything there. That he didn't like.Getting the wards up, Sirius relaxed and looked at PJ, grinning. This was great! Glancing at Remus, he grinned bigger. “Alright, time to let you in on a secret, Remus. And it's a big one. As I said, you have to keep it to yourself.” Seeing his old friend give a stiff nod, he looked at PJ, who was holding Hedwig's cage, getting ready to take her out, he said, “Get her settled and remove the glamour.”Chuckling at the look on Remus' face, PJ coaxed Hedwig out and got her settled on the perch then removed the glamour and made his contacts clear. Looking at Remus, he waited.“Look at him,” Sirius grinned. “We both know him and have for years.”Staring at PJ, Remus shook his head. He didn't recognize him. Eyes sliding to the owl, he thought there was something about her he did recall. “Sorry. I don't recognize him, Sirius.”Cackling, Sirius told PJ, “I think you need to give him a hint.”
Grinning a little, PJ said, “Professor Lupin, you spent a lot of time with me the year you taught at Hogwarts, teaching me a particular spell to use.”Eyes widening slightly, Remus glanced between the two, something starting to gel in his mind. Stammering, he asked, “What kind of spell?”“We used a boggart for it,” PJ told him, grinning bigger. “I don't have a stag for that anymore because of my wand change, but I learned it from you. And you had the best chocolate.”Stammering, eyes about to fall out of his head, Remus stood as it clicked then uttered a squeaky, “Harry? Is that you?”“Yeah, it's me,” PJ told him with a grin.
Rushing over, Remus hugged him tightly, muttering, “Oh, Merlin! It's great to see you, Harry!”Hugging him back, PJ told him, “Great to see you too!”Pulling back after breaking off the hug, still smiling, Remus held him at arm's length and looked him up and down. “Merlin! You don't even look like Harry anymore.”“I grew up,” PJ chuckled. “Adolescence was good to me, all I can say.” Quietly, he added, “And it's PJ now. I need you to call me that because I don't want anyone knowing I'm back.”Nodding vigorously, Sirius said, “You do. He's PJ, my lover. That's the story we need to give. We can't call him Harry.”“Understood,” Remus said firmly, unable to wipe the smile off his face. “This is wonderful! We knew you were alright because of the letters, but this is even better!”“You're going to love some of this when we explain,” Sirius told him with a chuckle. Sobering up, he added, “And there is a ton to fill you in on so you have fair warning.”
“Go ahead. We have all the time in the world,” Remus said, sitting back down, unable to pull his eyes off Harry. This was a wonderful surprise!
Giving a weary sigh as he looked over the mass of paperwork spread out after PJ explained everything to him, Remus then looked over to where the other two were. PJ had what he called his mobile phone out. From what he understood, PJ had enlarged it and was showing Sirius pictures of himself over the years. Seeing a huge grin on his old friend's face, he couldn't help but smile. This was great though there were going to be plenty of issues about it.
Settling back and sipping at the butterbeer an elf delivered, Remus said, “Alright, we have the story down to feed everyone. You know several are going to be over tomorrow to check out PJ and find out just what's going on. We should be able to handle this.”Sitting down in a chair he conjured, with PJ taking a seat right by him, Sirius gave a firm nod. “We'll manage. PJ is used to deflecting questions because of what he had to hide all these years. We'll make it look good. The story about what he does is true. We have proof with the books. So, that's what we go with when it comes to what he does for a living. The rest—we'll work it out as we go along. We just have to make sure we don't slip and call him Harry is all.”“I'll make sure to watch for that when it comes to myself,” Remus said with a firm nod. Sighing, he looked back at the mass of papers then gestured to them, “And we need to prepare for this. It's going to set off a huge chain of events.”“We do, I know,” Sirius conceded. “However, we all know hiding in plain sight works. That's what we're going for with this. As long as we're vigilant, we're good. If you and I didn't recognize him without the glamour, others won't either. With the glamour on, it's even better.”“Can you two pull off acting like lovers?” He asked, looking between the two.Snickering, PJ nodded, “We'll manage there.”Giving an internal groan at the memory from a couple of days ago, Sirius also nodded. “We will. We're not going to do the overt displays of affection, of course, but we'll act it well enough no one will think anything is off. You can confirm it if anyone asks. That should be all it'll take.”“I will,” Remus told him firmly with a bit of a smile. “I'll also make sure to mention I've known him for a long time. That will help.”“We need to get with Albus so we know when Order meetings are. That way PJ can be out of the house when they happen. He wants no part of that and doesn't want to know what goes on.”
“I'll come up with stories another way. I don't want the temptation of that or to hear anything about them,” PJ told them both, looking between them. “I'll find something to do elsewhere at the time, like go to the gym or something. For now, I have plenty to do when it comes to arrangements for various things. After that—I'll manage.”Giving another internal groan at the thought of PJ working out and how good his body looked, Sirius gave himself a mental slap upside the head to get back on track. He needed to stop those visions, that's for sure! “We'll find something to work with this, don't worry. It's just going to take some time is all.”“How are you going to deal with your old friends? They are around quite a lot now because of the Order.” Remus asked, looking at PJ.Sighing, PJ said, shaking his head, “I'll manage. I know to watch what I say because of an ingrained habit I developed over the years. After the first couple of times of seeing them, I'll have a better feel for what I have to do with it.”Nodding, Remus then smiled a little before saying, tone of amusement weaving through his voice, “Ginny is going to fall even more in love with you, though she doesn't know who you are. Any good-looking man that comes around she tries with. Though she swears she's saving herself for when Harry comes back.”“I'll handle Ginny, don't worry,” Sirius grinned. “She'll back off when I make it clear he's mine.”From research that was done on known Order members for the article, something he saw, PJ knew just what Ginny was like. It saddened him somewhat that the little sister of the boy that used to be his best friend was now well-known for chasing men and having probably more notches on her belt than he had. Quietly, he said, “I'll make it clear she has nothing I'm interested in. Me being gay should put her off, hopefully.”“Oh, I'll make damned sure she knows you're mine. If I have to tell her that every time I see her for a while, I'll do that,” Sirius told him firmly.
“I think we can manage this,” Remus nodded. “Just expect a bombardment of people over the next few days. Albus is going to want every bit of information he can get on PJ. And Hermione will start to dig.”“Let her. She won't find anything to trace me to Harry Potter,” PJ told him with a bit of a grin. “Those records are sealed in Brazil. She'll get nowhere trying to find anything there. Even the Bruxaria won't confirm I went there. That's standard for them as plenty send their kids there to keep them safe. The closest she could trace would be to Berkeley. Let her do that. It's on the blurbs of my novels. They won't confirm my majors, just that I went. And if she pushes, she'll find out that I can trace better than she can. That should shut her up quickly. It has everyone else I've done it to.”Chuckling at that, Sirius said, “It may come to it. Have at it if you have to. That should back everyone off.” Looking around, he sighed, “Alright, let's get settled. I'm tired. We'll work with what's tossed at us tomorrow.” Seeing nods from the other two, he stood to rearrange as much as he could to get comfortable in a now slightly cramped room. It would take time for the elves to work on it, so they were going to be in close quarters for a little while. He'd work with it. After all, he could put up with just about anything to have Harry back in his life. As that's what he had, he'd press on.
Sitting on the edge of his bed at about midnight, Sirius was sipping a glass of water as he gazed across the room to where PJ was sprawled in his bed, soundly sleeping. He adored this, more than he would admit to anyone. Harry was back and he could now protect him like he promised all those years ago.
Eyes crawling down that wonderful body, he gave an internal sigh. Oh, that was great still! PJ was in nothing but sleep shorts, so he could see plenty. And what he saw was something he adored. Shaking his head, he tried to rid himself of those thoughts. This was Harry, not PJ. He didn't need to be thinking about that! That romp—it didn't happen and he refused to think about it. He would just have to bring up younger images of his godson every time he pondered it.Downing the last of his water, he gave a soft sigh. Looking at PJ once more, he smiled then lay back down. He definitely needed rest as the following day was bound to be stressful. Shutting his eyes, he made it a point to think about all the things he could now do with his godson to make up for all the years they couldn't be together. That he was looking forward to.
