Loki had Heimdall send him to Remus’s house where he was intending to talk to the werewolf. He could hear the fighting that was happening between Tonks and Remus the minute he landed, he had only ever spent a little time with the two but it appeared all they did was fight. Remus had to know that she was not the woman that he was meant to be with his whole life. He stood there for a minute before walking to the door, he was getting ready to knock when the door was pulled open. He was standing face to face with a very angry Remus, there was hope that lit his expression upon seeing the god.
“I’ll help you” Loki said “But you have to promise me something”
“Anything” Remus said eagerly.
“When we get this to work” Loki said “When you can take that potion and no longer turn in to the monster, I want you gone”
“Gone?” Remus repeated.
“Go away” Loki said “Go to a different country and start over again. Get a new life, new wife whatever else you want...just stay away from my family”
“But Hermione’s my best friend...” Remus said “I love her, she’s been there for me...”
“I know” Loki told him “But I will give you a new life, the ability to hold a full time job and the possibility to get married again and have a family, one that loves you and respects you”
“But I would have to give up my best friend” Remus said again “What would Hermione say?”
“She would never have to know” Loki snapped “Tell her you got a job or something but never tell her the truth”
“You’re jealous of our relationship” Remus guessed.
“This is the only offer you’re getting from me” Loki told him “Take it or leave it” Remus watched him for a minute, all his thoughts of Hermione warred with his want for a normal life, finally he took a deep breath.
“I’ll take it” He told him “Once the potion is perfect and I am able to take it and be a relatively normal person I will leave and you will never hear from me again”
“Deal” Loki held out his hand and shook Remus’s.

Remus stood in Hermione’s potions lab looking at the potion in her hand. It was slightly golden which was different than how Wolfsbane normally was. He had been taking the normal potion all week and tonight, the night of the full moon he would be taking the newly made potion that would keep him human. He was nervous and he was even a little saddened because if this worked then he would be leaving and he would never see Hermione, Levi or Lidia ever again.
“This will work, right?” He asked.
“I have worked the potion perfectly” Hermione said “I made sure that it will change with your body and then change it back to what it used to be...okay?”
“Yes” He answered.
“Nervous?” She asked.
“Very” He answered “Here it goes”
Hermione and Loki both took deep breaths as he raised the phial to his lips and quickly drained it. He made a face as the taste hit his taste-buds then he looked at them, they all waited as the moon slowly crept up and bathed Remus in its light. He screamed and dropped down to the ground, Hermione was confused, it should have been a quick and painless change that was what made it so perfect. Suddenly, the wolf stood before them and it lunged immediately at Loki, sinking its teeth in to his shoulder again. It quickly let go and there stood a naked Remus, however it wasn’t the Remus was that she recognized. This was a younger and healthier version, his hair was no longer greying, skin was tanner, healthier, his body was more filled out.
“Oh my god” Hermione said walking up to him “You look to be about nineteen”
“I do?” He asked looking at himself in the mirror and then studying the man that looked back at him “The potion didn’t work” He reminded them.
“Think about it” Loki said “What was the difference this time?” He was sitting on the floor drinking different potions that Hermione had given him and slowly healing.
“I don’t know” Remus said.
“Hermione made changes to the potion” Loki said “We will give you the potion and a phial of my blood so you can change back”
“Will that work?” Hermione asked.
“He will still have his wits about him” Loki reminded her “Just take it when you’ve changed”
“Okay” Remus said “It should work. I hope the school doesn’t mind”
“School?” Hermione asked.
“I was accepted to a teaching position in America” Remus told her “I’ll be leaving within a few weeks, I can send you money for the potions and blood, is that okay?”
“Yes” Loki said quickly but Hermione frowned obviously not liking this new change that was coming.

Hermione was lying in bed later that night when Loki came in to the bedroom. She looked at him and smiled softly but it wasn’t a completely happy smile, she was troubled and he expected her to be. He took care of his bathroom needs and climbed on to the bed with her, kissing her shoulders and neck, trying to get her in the mood but he found her unresponsive. He sat back against the wall and watched her as she read the chapter that she had written earlier in the day.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
“Hmm?” She looked at him “Oh, yes. Yes, I’m fine why do you ask?”
“You’ve been quiet since Remus told us about his job offer in America” Loki pointed out.
“I’m just worried about him, you know?” She smiled.
“America isn’t so bad” Loki told her “New York’s nice. Though, I was rather busy when I was there last”
“Please don’t remind me” Hermione begged, she gave up working on what she was doing and laid down “Lidia adores him”
“I know” Loki sighed “But she needs to make friends her own age”
“Just think” Hermione mused “In a few years they’ll be nearly the same age, if he doesn’t age or if he ages slowly”
“It doesn’t matter” Loki told her firmly “She’ll make new friends as will you”
“Maybe” She said flopping on the bed “Maybe not”
Loki felt bad but he was doing this for his family...and for his own selfish needs. He didn’t like how close Remus and Hermione were but he also hated that his daughter clung to the werewolf as if he were a lifeline. Like he told Hermione, Lidia really would find new friends and they would all be her age which suited him just fine. Hermione would have more time to spend with her female friends doing whatever females did that was so important. She didn’t need Remus and Lidia didn’t need him either and the sooner they learned that the better off they would be.
A/N: Sneaky Loki. What do you think? Next Chapter is going to be a few years in the future with Lidia at school, Levi a little older and we will look in on the young and yummy looking Remus.
