One month later found Hermione working as hard as usual. She was on third shift for the week, now that she was single (against Harry’s wishes to hook her up with Neville)she had no need to only work during the days. She went through her usual shower and changing wands before making her way to the Healers desk and grabbing the report sheets.
“Nights been decent” Amelia said “Lucius has been reliving his divorce from three years ago…proposed to me like six times”
“Did you accept?” Hermione asked with a laugh.
“Nearly” She answered, Amelia was a nice middle aged witch that really cared for the patients they had no matter what side of the war they were on, she sighed “Bellatrix has been rather emotional. She keeps asking for Narcissa and Andromeda and is now convinced that they hate her even though I’ve explained everything to her”
“And Snape?” She asked, in the past month she and Snape had come to an uncomfortable understanding where she would come in, force him to write out a conversation with her, feed him and then leave him alone.
“Severus” She answered looking at her chart “Is due for a bath or shower tonight. Theo and Marcus are the male healers working tonight, when it’s time for his bathing all you need to do is get him to the shower, with his change of clothes and the men will take it from there…however” She held up a finger “It’s common knowledge that for some reason he doesn’t try to hurt you too much so if he freaks out then they may come to get you for whatever calming effect you have over him”
“So basically be aware that I may need to see my former potions master naked tonight” Hermione said “How uncomfortable”
“Well get used to it, love” Amelia said “As a Healer you will end up seeing more than you ever wanted…I mean how did you feel about seeing Bellatrix naked the first time?”
“True” Hermione smiled “Thank you for the report, I am going to do my rounds and I will be back before you leave”
Hermione made her rounds checking on everyone, Lucius was reading and looked at her for a second before shooting her a flirty grin and asked her to sit with him. She laughed and told him maybe later before moving on to the next person which happened to be her last patient, Snape. He sat there in his usual chair and watched her when she came in, he raised an eyebrow at her and dared her to move in closer to him but she just nodded at him, told him he was going to shower tonight and close the door back to the desk.
“I would never work third shift” Olivia said as Hermione walked over “Tonight there is a slow moving thunder storm already raining out there and you know how our lights are”
“Thanks” Hermione snapped “Like I wanted reminding of how creepy it will be here alone”
“You won’t be alone” Amelia reminded “Angelina Weasley is here, her husband Fred is working as our security guard tonight because she’s working, Theo and Marcus will be here as well”
“I know” She said “But still…stormy night while working third shift in a mental ward?” She laughed “Creepy!”
Hermione entered Lucius’s room and sat down with him listening to him go on and on about how he and Narcissa had meant. It was a story she knew real well but still laughed and awed at the right parts that made him happy. Finally, Theo and Marcus came in and took him to shower him up before helping him get dressed in pajama’s and in to bed. Hermione walked over to Bellatrix’s room where she was lying in bed talking softly to a teddy bear that was in her arms.
“Hermione” She greeted with a bright smile that Hermione returned “Do you like my bear?”
“I do” She answered sitting in a chair that was bolted next to the bed at the desk “Where’d you get him?”
“My sister” Bella answered proudly “She and my nephew Teddy came by today” She looked at the bear with a smile “They came to visit…they love me”
“Teddy is your great-nephew” Hermione told her “Remember Nymphadora?” Bella’s eyes went out of focus for a second and she scowled and Hermione made a few notes in her notebook and smiled “Let’s go to bed”
“Was she a blood-traitor?” Bella asked as she tucked her feet under the blankets “Master will kill her” She giggled slightly and Hermione shook her head, Bellatrix was insane that was sure but sometimes she was actually likeable then other times…
“She was your niece” Hermione said “You should get some sleep”
“I knew that at some point I would have you waiting on me, Mudblood” Bellatrix called out giggling as Hermione was leaving “Goodnight”
“Angelina” Hermione called out as she walked away from Bellatrix’s room “Can you add a few more wards on Bella’s door she actually remembered me when I was leaving and I wouldn’t put it past her to try to escape and could you please make a note about them allowing Teddy Lupin in there to see her!” She shook her head and continued on to Snapes room “Bridget made it very clear that he is to not be anywhere near her because if she had an actual moment of lucidity she will try to kill him because his parents were blood-traitors and his father was a werewolf”
Hermione opened the door and looked at Snape who was watching her from his chair. She frowned and walked over to him telling him that she had to help him get ready for a shower and that she would appreciate him not biting people. She unstuck his arms and legs and waited for a second for him to attack but he didn’t so she removed the mask and sat back. He stretched his arms and smirked when she raised her wand, then he extended his legs out as they had been stuck to the seat all day.
‘Are you giving me my shower tonight?’ He wrote with a leering grin on his face.
“No” She answered “Theo and Marcus will be, please be good”
‘Great’ He answered.
Even though Hermione expected him to put up a fight but he stood up and allowed her to shove a calming draft down his throat then a few more before the others came in to take him away. She walked back to the front desk on their floor and sat down with a sigh. It was hard to believe that she had already been there for three hours, her shift was a twelve hour one and as it neared nine it was nearing the time where it would start getting boring. Once Snape was showered she would bring him dinner and feed it to him then get him in to bed. She would do some checks to make sure they were all in bed and then write up a report. When that was done she would clean up certain things, make up some of the easier potions, take a ‘lunch’ break then fill time with books and checks until first shift came in at five.
“Finally” Angelina breathed “We get to sit down”
“You do” Hermione said “The children are easier, I still have to feed Snape”
“Lucky” Angelina grinned “So give me your professional opinion, is Snape insane?”
“No” Hermione answered “I think he’s using this place as a resort of sorts where he can be as cruel and mean as possible and won’t get in trouble all the while having people take care of him”
“Jerk” Angelina said.
“That’s why I make it a point to talk to him like a child” Hermione grinned “I know that he hates it”
“You are horrible!” The dark skinned girl laughed and playfully hit her in the arm. There was an alarm from the showers and Hermione groaned in annoyance and sent her patronis that she would be right there.
“I don’t know what’s worse” She said “The thought of seeing Snape naked or the fact that I once saw Lucius masturbating”
“It was my second year working here when he was brought in” Angelina said as Hermione got ready to leave the desk again “Lucius masturbated about four times a night and I was always the one that caught him…it was disgusting and embarrassing!”
“I bet” Hermione laughed then there was another alarm that sounded from the showers and she sighed and walked off.
The showers were to right of the front desk where the rooms were to the left of the desk. She walked quickly to the showers and stopped outside the last one on the right. She knocked and the door slammed open emitting a screaming Marcus Pyre the male orderly helping with Snape’s shower. His wrist was bleeding profusely and there were teeth marks, she grabbed his wrist and kept pressure on the wound while screaming to Angelina. The other healer got to them quickly and took Marcus away while Hermione entered the shower with her wand drawn. The first thing she became aware of was the fog and steam and heavy, slightly uneven breathing that was echoed off the walls and it made her slightly nervous. But then she saw that Theo had Snape at wand point, having apparently charmed the older mans hands to the wall behind him.
“What the hell happened?” She asked trying not to look at Snapes…anything and focus instead on the healer standing before her.
“We were washing him” Theo answered “And he started to strike at us and then he just…bit Marcus!”
“Well” She looked back at Snape who was breathing heavily and kept his eyes locked on her, she scowled back and lowered her gaze to make sure that his hands were locked to the wall and that was when she saw it. A bruise on his side the correct size of a mans fist, her eyes snapped back to his gaze but his stare was back to being distant and impassive “What’s this?”
“What’s what?” Theo walked closer and looked where she was pointing and looked away quickly “Don’t know”
“You’re lying” She glared at him and walked over to Snape ending the spell on his hands “I will be reporting this!”
“I am honest” Theo snapped “I didn’t know…that it was Marcus doing it” He stepped closer to her “He never made a noise…”
“HE IS MUTE!” Hermione roared pulling the man away from the wall “He can barely make a noise and the noises he can make he can’t make them loudly, you son of a bitch!”
“Granger!” He snapped grabbing her arm hard “Leave him to me!”
“Ow” She complained trying to pull her arm away but he just tightened his grip “You’re hurting me!”
“This is my job” He sneered at her pulling her away and making her cry out in pain “Or do you have a thing for being in the shower with two men?”
“Let me go!” She hissed and suddenly he was gone away from her, he was a few feet away from her on the ground. She looked behind her and found Snape was closer than she had expected or was comfortable with “Come on” She said to him pulling him to the towels wrapping one around his waist she charmed his wrists together and walked him back to his room.
“What the hell is going on?” Angelina asked as Fred came over.
“He wouldn’t let go” Hermione breathed the full weight of what happened coming down on her “He pushed him away and…helped me”
“Theo pushed Snape away?” Fred asked.
“No” Hermione said “Theo did this to me” She showed them the bruises on her arm in the shape of his fingers “And Snape pushed him away from me, he helped me”
