Ginny collected the mail at Grimmauld Place and went in to the kitchen. Harry was at an all weekend Auror training and Ronald was off on tour with the Chudley Cannons so she had the house to herself. After putting away the weeks’ worth of groceries and putting together a small salad for herself topped with the chicken she’d made the night before Ginny sat down and pulled the thickest of the letters towards herself. She opened the envelope and shook out not only the letter that fell out but the pictures that she was honestly surprised she’d gotten. She had sent her letter out a week ago and when Hermione didn’t answer her right away she assumed that she was too busy with her cousins and new friends to answer her old ones.
Dear Ginny,
I am so sorry that I haven’t written before now. I came out here to take a vacation away from constantly having to take care of people and here I am doing just that. I have inadvertently taken on a teacher-role for a man that is a complete animal and yet…not.
I think it’s important for you to be true to yourself and not just settle for what you think you should. If you want to be with Draco Malfoy then you need to tell him of your interest and see what he says…what’s the worse that’ll happen, I mean he’s already been a complete git to you in the past, so go for it and keep me posted on what’s going on.
As you can tell I have included some pictures of my new friends and I have marked them with the names and anything else that may be an interesting read for you. So, enjoy these pictures and write back to me, hopefully, sooner than I wrote back to you.
With love,
Hermione
P.S. Enjoy!
Ginny poured herself a cup of tea and sat back in her seat and pulled up the first of the pictures and smiled. It was a picture of Hermione and a woman named Wanda, who, according to the caption, was her cousin. The next one was of her and Pietro, her other cousin and Ginny nodded to herself. He was pretty cute, had a nice smile, blonde hair, silver eyes that kind of reminded her of Draco and yet not, she could tell that he was nice. She nearly choked to death in her next sip of tea when she got to the next picture of a man with long blonde hair and huge biceps, a huge chest, flat stomach that, thanks to the fact that Hermione had snapped the photo when he obviously had just gotten out of the shower and was clad only in a towel, was well-muscled. He was tanned and beautiful and…Ginny couldn’t put her finger on it, he was merely amazing and she sighed instantly jealous of Hermione now ‘This is Thor and he’s a god from Asgaurd. He’s really nice though a little barbaric in his ways of thinking sometimes’.
The next picture was a woman named Natasha, she was pretty and according to Hermione’s note, she was one hell of a fighter. The next was of a man named Steve that made Ginny all but drool with his muscles and boyish good looks and bedroom eyes. Two older men were in the next picture going over some paperwork, the cute one with the facial hair was named ‘Stark, who is kind of an ass and yet can be really nice' and then other man was ‘Bruce Banner, a brilliant scientist who is really nice and always ready to have a regular conversation or a heated debate about anything that happened to pop up in one’s mind’ Ginny could tell that her friend was very smitten with his brain, if nothing else. There was a note that said there was another man but he and his wife went back home to their house to spend time with the children. There was one picture left and when Ginny looked at it she furrowed her brow, this man was red with a yellow jewel on his forehead and delicious looking muscles. His eyes were creepy though, it was like he looked through you even through a picture and yet one wondered if he could see at all. ‘This is Vision. I am working with him, he has absolutely no identity and therefor, Vision is his ‘superhero name’ and I’ve been talking to him about being called Jarvis as its more a normal human name. A name, as anyone would know, gives someone a personality, an identity and I’m hoping that he can be a little more human this way’
Ginny sighed and leaned back in her chair looking at the pictures jealously. Hermione was always the lucky one, she got to Hogwarts and became friends with Harry Potter and then Ronald, all the boys were interested in her even if she didn’t notice it. Now, she was living it up with men that are like gods (one actually being one) and she was so sure that they all wanted to get in to Hermione’s pants. Meanwhile, she was working day after day at the Daily Prophet getting coffee for the likes of Rita Skeeter, coming home to either an empty house or her constantly horny boyfriend who wouldn’t know how to get her off if she wrote him instructions. She sighed again and stood up collecting the photos and walking off to her room where she could safely hide them for a while.

Hermione sat on the couch reading through the books she’d brought with her about different jobs in the magical community. The past two weeks had been great and she was happy to see that with her help Vision, or Jarvis as he chose to be called, was actually becoming someone but that didn’t mean he was cured. However, she was starting to feel that maybe she’d overstayed her welcome so she was getting ready to leave again and go back to England. She raised her eyes when she heard someone enter the living room and found Jarvis walking over, his hand held a book that she’d loaned him just two hours before, he stood in front of her.
“I have finished this” He said holding out the book “Can I read another one?”
“Yes” She answered and handed him her little beaded bag “Take your choice and thank you for asking” He didn’t answered just nodded and reached in to her bag rummaging around and finally pulling out a stack of books sifting through them before raising his eyes to hers again.
“Can I take all of these?” He asked and she nodded, he offered a small smile before disappearing again down the hallway.
“Are you leaving?” Bruce asked as he walked in to the living room.
“Soon” Hermione answered and was surprised to see that he looked saddened by this news “Why do you look upset?”
“It’s been fun with you here” He answered “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Stark so driven to prove himself to someone. I’ve never seen Vis…I mean, Jarvis so calm before, Wanda’s been happy so as Pietro…you should stay”
“You request I stay and yet this isn’t your home” Hermione said and when he lowered his eyes she realized how mean she’d sounded “I didn’t mean…Bruce, I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to be unkind but apparently it just happens at the more inopportune times” She smiled at him and he nodded slightly and started to turn away “I know that you want me to stay, Wanda and Pietro and I think everyone else is okay with it too though I never really know what Jarvis is thinking, the problem is…Tony, he hates me. No matter what or who lives here, this is his home first and foremost and I think at this point he would not only like me to leave but would help me pack, buy my plane ticket and rent me a car in England once I landed in hopes that I’d never come back”
“Very well” Banner said quietly and walked off.
Hermione made her way to Jarvis’s bedroom and stood in the doorway quietly watching him. He continued to read sitting ramrod straight at the desk Tony had gotten him a few days before. She smiled and walked in, leaning against the desk she observed him, he knew she was there as he raised his eyes to hers briefly before looking back at the book in his hands. He moved one of his hand down to his stomach for a moment before gripping the book again and continuing on. She frowned, she’d seen him do that numerous times throughout her stay, whenever he came out of his room that is. After her realization about why he acted the way he did on her first full day there, she’d worked to get him some stuff and once he had his own things and she’d instilled the sense of ‘his’ in his brain he was often times in his room. Which, of course, sparked numerous jokes from the other Avengers (mostly Tony) saying that he’d obviously discovered internet porn and that was why he didn’t leave his room anymore.
“Why do you do that?” She asked him, sitting in a chair that she’d pulled over to the side of the desk “Why do you grip your stomach like that?”
“It…” He looked for the right words “Hurts…I think, feels empty?” She could see the struggle for him to put a name to what was going on with him “I think…it vibrates and…hurts?”
“You’re hungry?” She looked horrified “When was the last time you ate?”
“I am an android” He reminded her “I do not eat”
“I think you do” She said “You may not starve to death because of what you are but you can’t be comfortable…I’ll get you something”
She walked in to the kitchen and made a quick turkey sandwich with some chips and gave it to him. She stayed in the doorway watching him while he poked the food around his plate with his fingers before he took a bite. Walking back to the front room she found Bruce, Steve and Tony going through something while Natasha was looking out the window. Hermione sat down on the couch and looked across the room, Jarvis was turning out to be very interesting indeed. He was supposed to be a robot or whatever and yet he was experiencing human emotions and even hunger. It was all really fascinating and Hermione wished that she could stay to learn more about him but like she had told Bruce, Tony hated her and she wasn’t about to force her presence on him anymore than she already had.
“Jarvis is eating a sandwich” She announced and one by one everyone slowly turned to look at her as if she’d said something completely mental “I didn’t know he ate human food or, well, anything at all”
“He shouldn’t” Stark said walking towards her a little “Why is he?” His eyes were accusing.
“I gave it to him” She answered “Did you guys ever notice the way he would grab his stomach at various points for no reason?”
“Yes” Natasha said.
“He explained how it felt to me” Hermione said “The best he can, that is. He told me and I realized that he was explaining that he was starving and so I got him food…”
“That’s stupid!” Stark snapped at her “He is a robot!”
“What happens when you get hungry?!” Hermione snapped at him “Or Bruce or Natasha?” She glared “They get short-tempered, when someone is starving to death they start to lose the ability to make sense, lose their concentration and slowly start to shut down”
“But he’s a…” Stark started again.
“A robot, I know!” Hermione finished “I didn’t say that I understood what was going on or that I had all the answers. I just know what happens when someone suffers from starvation and that is what’s been happening to him, would he have died?” She shrugged “I don’t know, I don’t think so. But you all know he’s been getting grouchy, with a short attention span and…slower than one may think a robot should act”
“She’s got a point” Bruce said softly to Stark who was glaring at her “Tony, Vision…I mean, Jarvis has been acting strangely for a few weeks, maybe eating will help him”
“I don’t care if he eats” Stark said exasperatedly “What I don’t like is annoying, know-it-all little girls who think that they know everything because they read it in a book!”
“I didn’t just read about it in a book!” Hermione snarled, they didn’t realize that the arguing had attracted Jarvis from his room and now he was watching them interestedly.
“Oh really?” He sneered.
“Yes, really” Hermione stood up as tall as she could and looked up in to his face “I’ve lived it…I have starved for months only able to eat the bare minimum amount of food” His expression changed slightly “I am not some little girl, I have been in a war, fought for my life, for my friends, I have lost many people that I have loved and I don’t deserve to be looked down upon by someone who’d rather judge me than get to know me” She looked at the room as a whole “Don’t worry about me bothering you anymore because I’ll be leaving in a few days”
With that last statement Hermione turned and walked off down the hallway heading to her bedroom so she could start packing and maybe have a good cry. She hadn’t meant to get upset and tell them all that she had but she was just so damn angry with his treatment and she was done with it. She had thrown some clothes in to her bag and then sat down hard on her bed putting her head down and started to sob in to her hands. She never should have come, she was damaged, suffering from PTSD and she’d known it when she showed up. But she’d been so lonely and needed someone to care for her for once and what did she find, judgement the same as in the Wizarding world, hatred, prejudice and jealousy. There was a noise from the doorway and she looked up to see Jarvis standing there looking at her as she clutched at her head, trying to quiet the memories of the war.
“You are in pain” He said and she shook her head “You are crying and I heard you scream, where do you hurt?” His eyes scanned her up and down “My scan shows no broken bones, no torn muscles, no cuts or bruises. And yet…you cry, what is happening?”
“I’m sad” She told him “I’m depressed, I’m worried and scared, lonely…do you understand any of this?!”
“I do not” He answered “Will you teach me?”
“What do you want from me?!” Hermione snapped at him, hitting him in the chest as hard as she could “I’m a wreck, I’m a killer and…and…” He looked at her, she could tell that while he understood what her words meant be didn’t understand the emotions behind them “I need to go home”
