Infiltrating Gringotts
When the sun rose the next day after escaping the Malfoy home, Piccolo was outside the house meditating and breathing in the clean seaside air. He and Gohan had spoken during the night as they shared a dreamscape with each other before the Demi’s heat cycle woke up. According to Gohan, things at the school had gotten worse over time. The Carrow siblings were causing havoc and spreading fear as often as they could, making the Z-Fighters work harder to keep the students out of harm's way. Gohan told him that he, Bardock and Goku had started going out slowly and secretly to help sneak some students out of the school. He was relieved at least some sort of progress was going on while they were away.
“Piccolo?” The Namek opened his eyes and looked over to see Hermione looking at him “It's time.”
“Hn.” Piccolo nodded then stood and walking into the cottage. He was handed a base polyjuice potion then he added Fenrir’s hairs to it as Hermione did the same with Bellatrix’s hair and Ron with his Snatcher hair. Piccolo looked down at it then gruffed “Here we go again.” He knocked the potion back with the other two then shuddered as the potion started to take effect. Piccolo grimaced at the taste and said “That shit never tastes good...”
“Bloody Hell that's terrifying…” Ron, now a brown haired wizard with stubble said with a cringe as he looked at Piccolo.
Piccolo smirked, Fenrir’s face curling into a cruel smirk “And I wasn't before?”
Ron gulped “Well… I mean… I just got used to seein… green…”
Piccolo snorted and crossed his arms “Whatever.” he eyed Hermione who now looked like Bellatrix and pointed at her “Clothes beam.”
Hermione looked down to see that she was now wearing the clothes they'd seen Bella wearing when she was torturing them. “Oh… Thanks Piccolo.”
The Namekian grunted then clothed himself in what he'd seen Fenrir usually wearing then clothed Ron as well. He put on a worn black cloak and pulled the hood up “Let's go.”
After Harry put the sword of Gryffindor into Hermione’s bigger-on-the-inside beaded bag, they said farewell to Bill, Fleur, Ollivander and Dobby; Luna having left earlier that morning to help at Hogwarts. Harry looked at everyone and said firmly “We get in, we get out. No distractions. Ready?”
Hermione and Ron nodded while Piccolo merely grunted. The group held onto Hermione then vanished from the beachside cottage. A few seconds later they appeared in a dark alleyway. Harry, Ron, Piccolo and Griphook stepped into the shadows as Hermione, as Bellatrix, steps to the entrance of the alley to see if the coast is clear. A gruff looking wizard passes by her and rumbles with a nod “Madam Lestrange.”
Hermione as Bellatrix smiled nervously and said in a shaky voice “G-Good morning.” The Warlock eyes her up and down oddly then continues walking past as Hermione retreats back into the alley.
“Good morning?” Piccolo snarled, his usual fierce exterior more feral because of Fenrir’s animalistic facial structure “Are you shitting me? You’re Bellatrix Lestrange, not a dewy-eyed schoolgirl you brat!”
“Hey. Easy.” Ron said with a frown.
“I agree with the Namekian.” Griphook quipped sharply “If she gives us away then we might as well use that sword to slit our own throats.”
Hermione sighed “They're right… I was being stupid…”
Harry pulls out his Invisibility Cloak and hands it to Piccolo “C’mon. Let’s do it.” Griphook clambers onto Harry’s back then Piccolo pulls the cloak over them, making the duo vanish. As the group enters the bank, the door closes and the room is eerily silent. Hermione glances at Ron then Piccolo. Piccolo nods and they walk down the long walkway. Piccolo's keen eyes flickering left to right, on the lookout for anything they should be wary of or a sign they should get out.
When they got to the tall table at the end, they looked up to see a goblin scratching something down on a parchment. The goblin didn't even look up as he said stoically “Identification.”
"I hardly think that will be necessary.” Hermione said firmly, her voice shaking ever so slightly but it seemed only Piccolo noticed.
The elderly goblin looks up then straightens in surprise “Madam Lestrange! How may I help you today?”
The foe Bella lifts her chin “I wish to enter my vault.
“I see. Very well. Excuse me won’t you?” The goblin slips off his stool and goes to consult with another, even more elderly looking goblin.
Getting more anxious by the second, Hermione pipes up with an authoritative and harsh tone “I don’t like to be kept waiting.”
Piccolo eyes the guards stationed about the room with a close eye then turns to see the the goblin eyeing him. Bella notices too and says with a tone full of disdain “He’s with me. They both are.”
Piccolo glances at Ron who is fidgeting uncomfortably. He discretely glances at a guard who is looking at Ron more closely now. Ron runs a finger under his collar, shifts his eyes to the elderly goblin who continues to consult with the one known as Bogrod. Bogrod says something and they both glance at Hermione. Because Fenrir’s hearing is better than most humans, he heard Griphook whisper into Harry’s ear “They know!”
Piccolo remains unphased as he rumbles lowly to the goblin ‘What do you mean? How could they know?”
“They know she’s an imposter! They’ve been warned!” Griphook hisses.
Piccolo looks back and watches as the two goblins return to look at Hermione “Madam Lestrange. Would you mind presenting your wand?”
Hermione puts on a surprised then disgruntled expression “And why should I do that?”
As she speaks, the guard across the room begins to walk toward Ron and Piccolo. Ron’s eyes avert the guard's as he whispers urgently “Harry... what do we do? Harry...? Pic…?”
“It’s the bank’s policy.” Bogrod continues “I’m sure you understand, given the current situ-”
“No, I most certainly do not understand.”
Bogrod eyes her intensely “I’m afraid I must insist.”
The guard closes in on Ron and he looks about frantically, reaching for his wand when Piccolo gently probes into Ron’s mind and mentally calms the panicking teen. No one except Piccolo see Harry’s wand slip from the cloak, the wand pointed at Bogrod. “Imperio…”
Bogrod blinks, almost looking a bit dazed as he slowly smiles “Very well, Madam Lestrange. If you will follow me.”
They all get onto one of the carts and it hurtles through the darkness, down the rickety rails, twisting and turning, traveling downwards. Piccolo grumbled to himself the entire way since he was never a fan of rollercoasters and this was worse. Harry leans toward Griphook, who was steering the cart. “How long before they come after us?”
“Only time will tell.” Griphook says simply.
Fenrir’s face appears over Harry’s shoulder and he is frowning “What is that? Up ahead? It looks like a waterfall but it doesn't smell right.”
In the distance, directly over the tracks, something like a wall of water is seen. “I should have known!” Furiously, Griphook starts to throw levers quickly, trying to slow the cart.
“What is that, Griphook?” Harry asks urgently as the wheels screech, throwing off sparks behind them “Griphook! What is that?!”
The goblin doesn’t answer, he was furiously preoccupied with stopping the cart. Harry turns to Hermione, hoping she has an explanation, but she just shakes her head, staring up ahead. Griphook stares forwards, powerless, watching in grim resignation as the cart flys down the rail and through the watery curtain. Instantly, water engulfs them. The cart stops and Piccolo coughs on the potion that was infused with the water. Suddenly the seats beneath them collapse and they drop towards the darkness. Hermione screams something, her wand flashing, and one by one they land gently, all relatively unscathed. As they catch their breath, they look upward and watch as the alarm blaring cart rattles back the way it came.
Harry turns to Hermione as she pockets her wand. “Well done.” Harry frowns as he looks at his witch friend “Hey… You look like... you.” he looked around “You all do!” Everyone is soaking wet and those who took the potion looked like themselves again.
Piccolo growled as he looked down at his green chest and pink abdomen “Great…”
Griphook nods to the waterfall “The Thief’s Downfall. Washes away all enchantments. Can be deadly.”
“You don’t say…” Piccolo growled lowly. He was a bit pissed off now.
“Just out of interest…” Ron started “Is there any other way out of here?”
“No.” Griphook says reluctantly.
“What the devil are you all doing down here!” They all turn to see a soaking Bogrod, his mind cleansed of the Imperius curse, backing away angry and confused.
“We need him!” Griphook hissed.
“Is this your doing, Griphook?” he glares at Griphook angrily “You have no rights here anymore! When you gave up your keys, you-”
“Imperio.” Piccolo gruffs as he points his wand at the goblin.
Bogrod blinks then resumes to his dazed state. Griphook steps past and pushes Bogrod on. “Come on then.”
The group sneak past a sleeping ashen white, chained up and beaten dragon then come to a door. Griphook presses Bogrod’s hand against the door and the door opens. They walk inside and crack the door open. Piccolo and the others look around in awe at the mountains if glittering jewels, gold, silver and other precious items value. Piccolo spots a familiar looking Gryffindor sword and gruffs “The foe sword… No wonder Bellatrix was so freaked out. It is a very convincing replica.” he looked over at Harry “Do you sense it?”
Harry nodded as he looked around and slowly walked forwards “Yeah… It's here…” his eyes flick upwards and he points “There.”
The group looks up and follows Harry's finger which points at a small cup on a high shelf. “I got it.” Piccolo said then lifted himself up with his Ki and flew over.
“Careful!” Hermione said warily “It could have traps on it!”
Piccolo glanced at her then back at the cup. He pulled out his wand and did a scan spell on the object. He smirked then said in an amused tone “What do you know. That Gemino spell is on this item.” he thought back to how to reverse the spell on the affected object then waved his wand over it. He put his wand away in its holster then reached out and grasped the cup.
“Gah!”
Piccolo turned around then snarled angrily at Ron while he backed away from the rapidly multiplying bowl he'd touched. “You imbecile!” He flew down, pulled his wand out again then canceled the spell, not before over twenty copies of the original gold bowl was created. He hit Ron on the back of the head “Don't touch anything!” His eyes flickered over at Griphook and his eyes narrowed at the sight of the goblin holding onto the sword and inching towards the door with Bogrod. “Griphook…” he growled in warning.
Harry noticed the goblin and he took a step towards him with a hand outstretched “Griphook, we had a deal!”
Griphook, now near the door, grinned with a strange madness in his eyes “I said I’d get you in. I never said anything about getting you out.” Griphook presses Bogrod’s hand to the door then quickly turns the corner to make his escape. “THIEVES! HELP! THIEVES!”
“OH THE FUCK YOU DO!” Piccolo roars in outrage. He powers up, fully pissed off now, and flies after Griphook. Piccolo grins with sadistic glee when Griphook sees him and the goblin gasps, his eyes wide with fear. Piccolo reaches out and grabs the goblins head then smashes it against a nearby wall repeatedly, a wide grin on his face as he does so. Only when the goblin ceases breathing does the enraged Namekian stop his assault. Piccolo drops the now dead body of Griphook then looks around for Bogrod. “Oh shi-” Piccolo winces as he watches the older goblin get turned to ash as the now awakened dragon breathes fire and reduces Bogrod to dust.
“That's unfortunate…”
Piccolo looks over to see Ron staring at where Bogrod once stood with wide eyes. “Hn.” Piccolo wipes the goblin’s blood off of his hand then uses a concentrated burst of Ki on the corpse to disintegrate the body.
“Oh great!” Harry cries out exasperatedly as over ten guards come storming in. The group takes cover as chaos ensues, the blind white dragon enraged and spitting fire anywhere it smelled anyone or heard movement.
Piccolo could sense several of the guards drop dead but he turns and gruffs over the roar of fire and dragon roaring “Anyone got any ideas?”
Hermione nods and says as she crouches down “I've got one but it's mad!”
Piccolo grinned “Then do it!”
The witch nodded then leaned around the boulder of broken pillar and pointed at the chains holding the dragon grounded “Relashio!”
“That's your plan!?” Ron practically shrieked.
Piccolo’s grin widened “Works for me.” he smirked at Ron “Scared Weasley?”
Ron bit his lower lip then said “Terrified to be right out…”
“Oh well.” Piccolo grabbed Ron and Hermione and easily tossed them onto the pale dragon, the duo letting out a small shriek in surprise. Piccolo grabbed onto Harry and flew over to the dragon the attached Harry to its back “Hold onto the spikes!” Once everyone was doing so, Piccolo sent a mental image of what he wanted the dragon to do and promised it freedom if it did so.
The blind dragon was confused as to what was going on but it was obvious someone was trying to help him so he did as he was told; anything to get away from the Hell he'd been living. Helping the dragon, Piccolo threw a controlled Ki beam upwards to get a tunnel going for the beast. Soon the group was hunkered down against the dragon as it burst through the floor of the Gringotts bank, sending dozens of guards and goblins running away in fear. As coins and other objects tumbled to the floor, the ashen dragon burst through the roof, climbed to the highest peak then rest for a few moments, gulping down fresh air and feeling the breeze on his scales. Piccolo mentally urged the dragon now was not the time to rest and they had to leave before he was captured again that was enough to get the dragon eager to leave, the great white reptile spreading his long-time folded wings. Taking into the air, the four plus the dragon made their escape.
The group clung to the dragon’s back for hours letting the great beast do the work in helping them escape and get as far away as they can. Two hours into resting on the beast’s back, Piccolo looked down at the land below them and called out to the group, “He's lowering.”
Harry looked over, slightly worried “Um… Why?”
Piccolo smirked “Because I asked him to.”
The dragon touched down then settled down on the ground, his head on the ground and milky white eyes closed in bliss. The three wizards carefully and warily got off the dragon then stared in shock as Piccolo walked up to the creature's head. The Namekian put a gentle hand on the dragon’s snout and stroked it softly, mentally praising the beast for helping them. The great dragon blew out of his nose softly then proceeded to take a nap. Doing a quick temporary chameleon spell so the reptile blended into the landscape, Piccolo sheathed his wand then walked over to the group.
“H-Ho-ow…?” Hermione stuttered breathlessly, her eyes wide open in shock like the rest of them.
Piccolo looked at her calmly then gruffed “Namekians have the innate ability to speak to others with our minds. All I did was when we were back at the bank I promised the dragon freedom if he got us away from that place. I also helped calm his mind as we flew so he his mental wellbeing is as it should be.” He looked down and grimaced at the dried blood on him “Now if you will excuse me.” He turned and shed his cloak and brown jacket as he walked towards the shoreline. He then flew up and dove into the water, disintegrating the pants once submerged.
The golden trio looked at each other then got dressed. Once he was dressed, Harry went over to a stone and sat down on it. He shifted his fingers through his hair and went over the day in his head. He couldn't believe Griphook betrayed them like that! But… he felt a strange sort of satisfaction when he'd saw Griphook body lying on the group with blood pooling on the floor and against the wall where Piccolo had smashed it against. He recalled the blood spattered on Piccolo and had no idea why that kind of violent was pleasing to him, this twisted form of judgment and execution.
“Potter,”
Harry jolted and widened his eyes as the shock of him being brought out of his deep thoughts caused a series of visions to flash across his mind.
Piccolo immediately knelt down in front of Harry, his hand on the teen’s knee. “Potter? Can you hear me? What do you see?”
Harry’s eyes refocused and he looked at Piccolo with wide eyes “He knows…”
“Who knows what?” Hermione asks as she walks over, redressed in spare clothes, Ron behind her.
Harry gulped and said “You-Know-Who. He knows we broke into Gringotts, knows what we took and he knows we’re hunting Horcruxes.”
Piccolo narrowed his eyes at Harry “You went into his mind again didn't you.” Harry nodded and Piccolo stood “You need to stop doing that Potter.”
“I can’t always help it!” he rubbed his temple “Or maybe I can. I don’t know.”
“Never mind that!” Ron crosses his arms “What did you see?”
Harry was silent for a moment then said “He's angry. But he’s scared too. He’s going to make sure the other Horcruxes are safe.
“What happens when he finds out four are gone?” Ron asks worriedly.
“I reckon he’ll do anything to stop us from finding the rest. There’s more… One of them is at Hogwarts.”
“You saw it?” Piccolo asked with a raised brow ridge.
Harry nodded “I saw the castle. And Rowena Ravenclaw. I think it must have something to do with her. We have to go there, now.”
“Tonight? But we have to plan. I Have to figure out what-”
“Granger,” Piccolo interrupted. He then said with slight amusement “When have any of our plans actually worked? We plan, we get to where we need to go then all Hell breaks loose.
“‘Fraid Piccolo's right Mione.” Ron said “Another problem: Snape’s Headmaster now. We can't just walk in the front door.”
Harry thought for a moment they said “We'll go to Hogsmeade. Honeydukes and take the secret passage in the cellar.” Harry looked off into the distance to the left “There’s something wrong with him… In the past, I could always follow his thoughts. Now everything feels... disconnected…”
“Perhaps it is because of the Horcruxes. Is it possible he is dying?” Piccolo mused thoughtfully.
“No.” Harry shook his head and stood up then walk towards the shore a bit “It’s more like… he’s wounded…. If anything, he feels more dangerous.”
Piccolo stood up as well then gruffed “Take a few minute rest you three. You need it. I'll keep watch.” Harry looked like he was about to argue but Piccolo turned and barked back at the teen “This is not up for discussion. I will wake you in ten minutes. I will know if you are not sleeping.” Piccolo got into his usual meditative position and closed his eyes, silently listening as the trio got sleeping bag out then laid down.
