Living Chapter 30
"Well, I don't give a shite what you think Ron Weasley, you are still a selfish prick!" Harry shouted down the stairs to what looked like his once best friend.
"You're calling me a selfish prick? You who still think he's the "Chosen One" when it comes to everything whether it's Quidditch or getting a girl. Harry, you're not that special and you have never been. Take that stick out of your uppity half-blood ass and leave me alone." Ron's face was as red as the hair on his head. Harry stood glaring back at him trying to control his breathing.
Ron stormed off towards the Great Hall pushing people out of his way. The students on their way to breakfast stood in shock watching the argument between the great Harry Potter and his sidekick Ronald Weasley. Harry shot one more angry look at Ron's retreating back and ran back up the stairs towards Gryffindor Tower.
Harry entered the common room and looked at Hermione who sat studying on the nearby sofa. With a nod of his head towards his room, Hermione jumped up, looked around, and quickly followed Harry up the stairs.
Hermione shut the door and jumped up on Harry's bed. "So how did it go? I still wish I could have been there to see it."
"Oh, it was good. I would say it was almost too good in that Ron's words felt like he truly meant what he said." Harry plopped down next to Hermione. "Maybe he's really resented me all of these years and this just gave him a reason to tell me how he really feels." Harry dropped his head forward with a sigh.
"That's nonsense Harry, you are too good of friends to have what he said to you to be true." Hermione tried to reassure him as she rubbed his back soothingly, but Harry shook his head.
"You didn't hear the words or the way he said them. He was angry. I mean really angry."
"You do know that this is all an act Harry; after all, it was your idea. As long as you had an audience, and word gets's back to the Death Eaters, then it will be all worth it." Hermione said watching Harry.
"I hope that you're right, because if not, then maybe we really don't have much of a friendship left." Harry stood running his fingers through his already mussed up hair. "We need to let Professor Snape know that our plan is under way."
"I have a feeling that he probably has already heard about it. When it comes to you Harry, he always seems to know exactly what is happening." She stood and leaned over to press a kiss to his cheek. "Good luck Chosen One. Things will be better soon."
Hermione shut the door leaving Harry alone with his jumbled thoughts. He hoped that this would indeed all be over soon, but with his luck, things were just starting and this new war wasn't going to end overnight.
Ron sat by himself eating his breakfast, as his fellow Gryffindors stared at him with questioning looks. Most of them had heard his argument with Harry on the way to breakfast. They must have both done a great acting job because he wasn't getting many friendly looks sent his way. He grabbed several more sausages and started stuffing them in his mouth. What a crock! Of course, most of them would support the great Harry Potter than the unimportant Ron Weasley. He reached out to take a gulp of his pumpkin juice and shook his head a little. Damn. Even he believed this whole load of shite of him and Harry fighting. This was all an act and he needed to remember that, but it still irked him that everyone was taking Harry's side. He looked down the table to see Ginny and Neville watching him as they quietly ate their breakfast. He couldn't hear the whispers that were being murmured as people pointed his way. His stomach started hurting as he thought about this plan that they had concocted. Now he wasn't sure if he could follow through with it. Would it be worth it alienating him from all of his true friends and his family members?
Someone plopped down next to him at the table. Turning his head he almost jumped when he saw who was sitting there. "So you had a spot of trouble this morning, eh mate?" Justin Finch-Fletchley asked Ron.
Ron swallowed the bite of poached egg that was in his mouth and tried not to choke as he thought of how to answer him. "Yah, that ass Potter thinks everything is about him. I'm sick of it." He looked over at Justin who was watching him closely and showing great interest in what he said.
"Ron, maybe you need some new friends that aren't Harry Potter. My friends and I are getting together after class this afternoon to talk. Do you want to join us?" Justin looked nervously down the table as he spoke softly. He turned his head behind him to glance at the Slytherin table. Ron acted like he wasn't watching, but he saw who he was looking at. Theo Nott was trying not to stare at the Gryffindor table but was doing a poor job of it. He sat picking at his food and trying to ignore the others sitting around him. Ron stopped eating as his stomach felt heavy and bubbling with anxiety.
"Sure, mate. A change of scenery is what I need away from idiot people that don't appreciate me. Harry Potter can jump in the lake for all I care." Even though this is what he and Harry had wanted, he wasn't entirely sure he was ready to do this. "Where should I meet you?" Ron asked back.
"Don't worry, I'll find you." Justin stood up and thumped Ron on the back, who in turn tried not to flinch at the Hufflepuff's touch. Ron nodded back at him and turned back around to his breakfast. Taking one more look at his eggs and sausages he grimaced, pushed his plate away and decided his stomach couldn't handle anymore. His gut instinct was telling him this wasn't a good thing if it was putting off his appetite.
Severus could tell something was up when the Gryffindors and Slytherins came into the advanced potions class. First, Harry Potter came marching in with Hermione by his side, while Ron Weasley strutted in sitting next to Theo Nott instead of his normal partner Harry. He looked at Hermione who was trying to catch his eye and motioning over Ron's way. Severus put on his stern professor face and stood in front of his desk with his arms folded in front. It looked like the dunderhead duo had gone ahead with their plan. The pretend rift between the two young men, seemed as it wasn't an act at all. This reminded him of their fourth year during the Tri-Wizard Tournament; that was when Harry and Ron had fought over Potter being chosen by the Goblet of Fire to participate in the tournament. All of the teachers had known of the fighting going on between the two friends. This felt the same, and his poor Hermione was once again stuck in the middle of the feud. She squirmed in her seat looking very uncomfortable. Hermione kept looking back and forth between Harry and Ron. Severus also noticed how Theo kept whispering to Ron and looking over at Harry. Heaven help him while dealing with teenage angst, even if it was all made up.
"There will be no horse-play and no talking while brewing today's potion. You will keep your mind on each step and do not disturb other working pairs around you. Are there any questions?"
Severus gave a glare daring anyone to raise their hand which would also raise his ire simultaneously. He truly hoped that Hermione would keep her hand down. He just wanted them to get started so he could wander around and try to listen to anything Theo might say to Ron. He waved his hand towards the chalkboard where words appeared with today's assignment. Walking by Hermione he lifted an eyebrow at her when she tried to stifle a smile while glancing at him. It was so bloody hard not to show his attraction for the young woman and just treat her the way he had the past many years by putting her down or ignoring her.
"New partner today Potter?" Severus said slowly as he passed by.
"Yes, sir. I need someone intelligent to work with today." Harry's voice rose loud enough for the class to hear.
"Wanker," Ron blurted out in the background.
"Five points from Gryffindor Mr. Weasley," Severus stated with a clipped tone.
Ron started to protest, but Theo grabbed his arm pulling him away to a table far off in the corner of the room. They seemed to be whispering and Severus tried to ignore the two, allowing them time to talk and "bond". This plan would only work if Theo and Justin could feel like they were pulling Ron father away from his friends and closer to joining their group. It was sickening to him to see this played out in front of his own eyes. He had lived out this same scenario many years ago when the Death Eaters had seduced him to their organization. Even though he knew this was only an act, he felt a huge wave of guilt overcome him when he realized what a grim situation they were putting Ron in by basically shoving him towards the Death Eaters.
The last student had finally left the potions classroom and Hermione came wandering out of the potions storage closet. "It's about time they all left. I hated waiting in there."
Severus grinned, "I thought you liked visiting my storage closet?"
Hermione waved her wand towards the classroom door locking it. "Ha! Very funny Severus Snape." She still smiled at him as she almost glided into his arms. Pulling his lips down to meet hers, they stood kissing each other like it had been forever since their lips had last met. Severus's hands held onto her head of curls pulling her even closer to him.
"Are you hungry?" he asked, it coming out as a growl. Then he kissed her again, his hands moving down to circle around her behind. pulling her snug against him.
Gasping for air Hermione answered, "Not hungry," her teeth nibbled at his now swollen lips, "…for food." She went on to kiss down his neck unbuttoning his dress coat and then his white shirt.
"What then…are you hungry for?" The question hung in the air, even though both of them knew what the answer would be.
"Oh, you old fool, you know what I want," she said as she kissed her way down his chest sending shivers through his body.
Grabbing her up in his arms, he tossed her onto his desk, "Old am I? I'll show you old." He flipped her skirt up and tugged her knickers off as she laughed with him. Pulling her even closer he proceeded to drop his trousers, pushing himself inside her and making her come within minutes. Hermione was overwhelmed with his endeavors as she whimpered.
"Oh, Severus, I take back…everything I said." Her body almost jolted upright as she rode out her orgasm.
He proudly sneered at his accomplishment as he continued to thrust in and out of her. The glorious feeling lasted only a minute longer until he shuddered to completion. He lay limply on her for a moment, listening to her heartbeat where his head rested. Lifting his head he stared at Hermione whose head was flung back, her hair tousled about her shoulders.
"Did you want to talk to me about something?"
He gazed at her, fascinated at how quickly she changed the subject after having glorious sex. "Why would you think I wanted to talk to you?" Her glare back at him made him start laughing. "Yes, it's about those friends of yours."
Hermione hopped down off his desk as she straightened her clothes. "Yes, it's started. Harry and Ron were arguing this morning on the way to the Great Hall. Harry felt like Ron wasn't acting when he was yelling at him."
"But, it was part of the plan to make it appear as if they were fighting. If you ask me, it looked like the real thing." Severus was now fully dressed again as he smoothed down his hair.
"The only good thing is that Theo and Justin think it's real. I noticed that both boys approached Ron sometime today." Hermione turned to Severus with a sigh and rubbed her eyes. "I'm worried that this plan is going to backfire on us."
"We need to make sure and keep an eye on Mr. Weasley. Potter has his map and he needs to use it now."
"Promise me that you will intervene if Ron gets in too deep?"
Severus took a step closer and wrapped his arms around her. "I promise I will do what I can to help him if needed. Be aware, there's only so much I can do without giving away our knowledge we have of the new Death Eaters."
She gave him a half-smile, "That's enough to keep me from worrying myself into a frenzy."
Ron found himself sitting with a group of his new "friends". He'd gone along with them because they'd convinced him to join others that also hated Harry Potter. Still acting angry at Harry, he went along with them knowing where they were probably taking him. The place was not far from the Slytherin common room. Theo sat on his left side, while Justin was at his right. Six other fellow Hogwarts students were also sitting in the old, dusty room. He tried not to show his discomfort in the silent room, as it appeared they were waiting for something or someone. The knots in his stomach grew stronger the longer they waited. He really wanted to get up and leave and forget the plan that now seemed very foolish. His mum would kill him if she ever found out. She'd been plenty angry with Percy when he'd sided with the ministry during the second war. Becoming a Death Eater would surely give his parents a reason to disown him, even if he was spying on the enemy. Never in his life had he wanted to be a Death Eater. It was very clear who were the Death Eaters in the room and who the possible new inductees were. One group sat smugly, while the others had faces clouded with nervousness. Finally, the door opened and a tall figure swooped in with red, swirling robes.
Theo, Justin, and two other boys dropped onto their knees in front of the man. "My Lord," they all said together.
Theo reached up to pull Ron down next to him, his knees hitting the hard floor. Terror flashed in Ron's eyes as he looked up and met the dark, hooded eyes of Antonin Dolohov, the new Dark Lord.
The plan is underway, but Ron is not sure he wants to be there now. I know I wouldn't be if in his position. We'll find out what the Dark Lord will do with Ron and the others in the next chapter.
