"So Hermione, do you want to come back to the common room and play a game of exploding snaps with me and Harry?" Ron asked hopefully.
"Actually Ron, I was going to ask Ginny to come back to my dorm room with me, I'm in need of some girl time" Hermione said softly.
"Oh, okay" Ron said, the disappointment evident in his voice.
"Maybe another time" Hermione said smiling at Ron.
"Alright" Ron responded.
"Oh cheer up mate" Harry said slapping him on the back "We're having an exploding snap tournament tonight with the boys anyways, Hermione and Ginny would have been bored. Plus, it's guys night. No girls allowed"
He shot Hermione a wink at his last statement.
"Oh, I see how it is" Ginny said standing up and pulling Hermione up with her. "We know when we aren't wanted! We will just go to Hermione's dorm and share a tub of ice cream as we cry our poor little hearts out due to the fact that you two don't want us around"
"Oh, don't be so overdramatic" Harry said laughing.
"And then he hurts my feelings by calling me overdramatic" Ginny said placing her hand over her heart. "Oh whatever shall I do?"
Hermione laughed as she wrapped her arm around Ginny and steered her away from the table. She turned back to Harry and Ron and said "You can thank me for getting her out of your hair later."
Harry smirked and waved goodbye to Hermione and Ginny as they made their way out of the Great Hall.
"So you were going to ask me to come back to your dorm with you were you? Or was that just an excuse to get away from Harry and Ron? Ginny questioned.
"I was actually going to ask you to come back to my dorm with me" Hermione responded.
"Any specific reason" Ginny asked raising her eyebrows in interest.
"I just don't want to face Malfoy on my own right now" Hermione stated honestly.
"I figured as much" Ginny said with a smirk.
"What?" Hermione asked looking at Ginny.
"Nothing" Ginny said shaking her head. "But you do realize that you're going to have to face him eventually right? I'm not always going to be around to save the day. And you can't exactly ignore him either, considering you're sharing a living quarters."
"Trust me, I know. I've thought about everything" Hermione said softly.
Ginny looked over at her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just not every day that you wake up and find out that your worst enemy is in love with you. It's a lot to handle" Hermione stated.
"True. But, just take things day by day and see how they go. You never know, he might surprise you" Ginny said sending Hermione a smile.
"Well, I did see a side of him that I never even believe existed while I was under the influence of the love potion. At first I thought it was all faked, but now that I know the reasoning behind how the potions spell broke, I'm thinking that maybe it wasn't all an act, that it was actually him" Hermione said thinking back to all of her encounters with Draco.
"Exactly! We are so used to the young Malfoy, the one who was a stuck up prat that cared about all the false pretenses about blood superiority. But, how much of that do we know was actually the way he felt? We both know that Malfoy was brought up by one of the worst Death Eaters of all time, so obviously his father was going to fill his head with all the garbage that he believes. It's only natural for Malfoy to listen to his father and believe he's right. All guys look up to their fathers. It's just the way it is. Clearly, he is making his own decisions now and thinking for himself. His father would never approve of him even talking to you without added insults, let alone fall in love with you!"
"Still, he wasn't exactly nice at the beginning of the school year" Hermione said.
"It's hard for people to act different when they are so accustomed to acting a certain way. It takes time. Also, having to be around you all the time considering you guys share the same living quarters, is bound to make him realize the amazing girl that you are. He doesn't have other people around clouding his judgment, it's just you and him" Ginny said.
"When did you become so insightful?" Hermione asked smiling.
"Don't underestimate me. Just because my brothers aren't the.. .smartest, doesn't mean that I inherited the same genes as them. Besides, I'm a girl. I'm more observant then guys are. And, I'm a huge sucker for a good romance. And you and Malfoy getting together and falling in love would literally be the biggest romance shock of all time. So naturally, I am rooting for it to happen" Ginny said winking at Hermione.
Hermione stopped walking.
"You want me and Malfoy together?" Hermione asked dumbfounded
"Honestly, I don't care who you end up with as long as you are happy and the person treats you right. But I do believe that Malfoy is well suited for you. He's like your equal. And you don't deserve anything less than that" Ginny stated as she looked directly at Hermione.
"Even if he happens to be the one person that your entire family, along with Harry, hate more than anyone?" Hermione questioned an eyebrow raised.
"Yes, even if that. Hell, I wouldn't care if the guy had a third eye, as long as you're happy" Ginny said.
"But Gin, it's Malfoy. No one else will accept us being together except you. Harry and Ron definitely won't" Hermione said shaking her head at the thought.
"Who cares about what those two knuckleheads think. If they are truly your best friend like they claim to be then they will put your happiness first" Ginny stated firmly.
"It's not that simple" Hermione said slowly.
"Sure it is. And if they give you any hassles then I will kick their asses until they learn to accept it" Ginny said firmly raising a fist.
Hermione laughed. "Thanks Gin, but I really don't think things would work out that easily."
"Well, we will just figure that out when the time comes, if it comes" Ginny stated as she linked her arm through Hermione's as she started walking again.
"Thanks Gin" Hermione said smiling as they walked through her dorm room door.
As soon as they entered, Hermione froze. There, sitting on the sofas was Draco and Blaise.
Ginny lightly tugged on Hermione's arm.
"Come on" Ginny whispered pulling Hermione with her to the couches.
Ginny sat on the couch opposite of Draco and Blaise, and pulled Hermione down beside her.
"Hey" Ginny said smiling at Blaise and then nodding at Draco.
"How's it going?" Blaise asked quirking an eyebrow at Ginny.
"Good, but can I talk to you for a minute?" Ginny asked.
"Sure, what's up?" Blaise asked.
"Privately" She whispered as she tilted her head towards Hermione and Draco.
Draco was to busy staring at Hermione to have heard what Ginny said, and Hermione was staring down at her clasped hands intently, like they were about to tell her a story.
"Sure." Blaise said standing up.
Hermione snapped her head up and looked at Ginny and Blaise who were now standing.
"Where are you going?" Hermione squeaked nervously, looking at Ginny pleading her not to leave.
"Just in the hallway, I need to talk to Blaise for a second. Just holler if you need me okay?" Ginny said as she grabbed Blaise and made her way to the exit.
"Okay" Hermione said softly, which Ginny didn't hear because she was already out the door.
xx
"So what did you need to talk to me about?" Blaise inquired.
"Honestly? Nothing really" Ginny said.
"If you wanted some alone time with me, all you had to do was ask" Blaise said seductively.
Ginny blushed and said "Shut up Zabini."
Blaise raised an eyebrow and smirked at her. "You're cute when you're all flustered."
Ginny narrowed her eyes at him then looked down at the floor, trying to conceal the blush that was now prominent on her cheeks.
Blaise gently placed his hand under Ginny's chin, and tilted her face up so she was now looking at him. Ginny's eyes opened wide at the look that he was giving her, and before she could say anything, his lips were on hers.
Blaise's lips were firm and demanding, and Ginny responded to his kiss with the same intensity. She felt Blaise run his tongue along her bottom lip, and she opened her mouth greedily allowing him access. She felt his tongue slip into her mouth, and his tongue lightly massaged hers. He pulled back after a minute so they could both catch their breath. The minute he got his, he leaned back in and placed a soft kiss upon her lips. Ginny, decided she wanted to do something to surprise him, so when he pulled back from her, she leaned in and lightly and playfully bit his bottom lip.
Blaise groaned and pulled back from her.
Ginny smirked when she saw how his eyes were shining with desire. She could practically feel it pouring out of him.
"What was that?" Blaise asked as he ran his hands through his hair in an attempt to calm himself down.
"What was what?" Ginny asked innocently.
Blaise's eyes snapped back to her and he pushed her up against the wall, pinning his body against hers so she couldn't move. He leaned in close enough that his lips lightly brushed hers as he spoke.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about" He growled.
Ginny felt her heart leap into her throat at how close they were.
"Nothing" Ginny whispered hoarsely.
"Bullshit" Blaise said before he pressed his lips against hers again.
Blaise was kissing her with a new hunger, like he couldn't get enough. He picked her up placing his hands on her waist, not breaking the kiss, and Ginny automatically wrapped her legs around him. He pushed her his body weight up against her, so she wouldn't slide down the wall. Ginny threw her arms around his neck, and kissed him back hungrily.
Blaise pulled back slowly after a few minutes, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. Ginny opened her eyes and started at the man in front of her. She unwrapped her legs from around him, and placed them gently back on the floor, and then she untangled her arms from around his neck. He stayed where he was leaning against her. He opened his eyes and looked at her, a smirk on his features.
"Well, that was certainly interesting" Blaise said huskily.
Ginny didn't trust herself to respond so she just nodded her head in agreement.
Blaise quirked an eyebrow and said "You okay there?"
Ginny let out a deep breath that she hadn't realized that she had been holding and said "I'm great."

Hermione and Draco sat there in an awkward silence, neither knowing what to say to break the silence between them.
Draco looked over at Hermione for about the 20th time and saw that she still hadn't moved, that she was still staring intently at her clasped hands. He let out a deep breath.
"Hermione, look at me."
Hermione stiffened at sound of her first name coming from his lips, and Draco felt a burst of anger well up inside of him. He remained calm however; he didn't want her to know how much she affected him.
Hermione finally looked up at him, and their eyes met.
Draco stared at her and tried to read all the emotions that were swimming in her eyes. Confusion was the most prominent emotion that he could read.
"Why are you ignoring me?" Draco asked finally.
"I'm not" Hermione stated.
"Yes, you are" Draco said firmly.
"I'm not" She said softly.
"Oh really? So then why have you been staring at your hands like they are the most interesting thing in the entire world for the past half hour?" Draco asked anger edging into his voice.
Hermione stayed silent because she knew that she couldn't argue.
"Are you ignoring me because of the way I feel about you?" Draco asked quietly, so quietly Hermione had to strain her ears to hear it.
"And how exactly do you feel about me Malfoy?" Hermione questioned curiously.
Draco and felt a cold chill run through his body at the use of his last name. The anger that he had felt well earlier now bubbled up inside of him again.
"So we're back to using last names again are we Granger?" Malfoy snapped. "You know what, pretend I didn't acknowledge you, and better yet, continue to ignore me like you have been."
With that, Draco stood up and stormed off to his bedroom, slamming his door closed behind him.
Hermione didn't know how long she sat there staring at his bedroom door, but she was brought out of her staring by Ginny.
"Hermione?"
"Hermione, are you okay?" Ginny asked a second time.
Hermione took her eyes off of Draco's door and looked over at Ginny who was standing beside the couch she was currently sitting on, Blaise at her side.
"I'm fine" Hermione stated.
"Where's Draco?" Blaise asked curiously.
"He's in his room" Hermione said.
"What happened?" Ginny asked raising an eyebrow.
"Why do you assume something happened?" Hermione asked.
"Well considering you were staring at his door with this blank look on your face when we came in, and it took a while to get your attention means something had to have happened for you to be so out of it" Ginny stated.
"Did you guys talk?" Blaise questioned.
"Sort of" Hermione said shrugging her shoulders.
"What do you mean sort of?" Ginny asked taking the seat across from her, pulling Blaise down beside her.
"I mean he told me to look at him, asked me why I was ignoring him, I said I wasn't, and then he did a 360, got all mad, and then stormed off to his room after snapping on me" Hermione said coolly.
"What did you say that made him snap?" Blaise asked.
"He said something about me ignoring him because of how he feels about me and I asked him exactly how he felt" Hermione said
"Oh, and I called him Malfoy so he got all mad and left."
Ginny and Blaise shared a look.
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Maybe you should go and talk to him?" Ginny suggested softly.
"Why would I do that? He told me to ignore him, so that's what I'm going to do." Hermione stated firmly.
"Are you sure that's the best decision?" Ginny asked.
"He's the one who told me to ignore him, so I am going to honour his wishes. Clearly that's what he wants and that's what he thinks is best" Hermione said.
"Is that what you want?" Ginny questioned.
Hermione sat there quietly for a moment and thought this question over. Was this what she wanted? She didn't know. She didn't know what she was feeling. Her feelings were a bundled confusion. She really liked and enjoyed the side of Draco that she had experienced while she was under the love potion, but she wasn't under the spell anymore, and now things were just weird and awkward between them. She didn't know how to act around him, especially knowing that he was in love with her. He had stuck up for her in class though in front of everyone, something that he had never done for her, or anyone before.
But then there was Harry and Ron that she had to worry about. Hermione knew that Ron was in love with her, she had known for a while. She just did her best to try and ignore it and to show him that she only considered him a friend. But Ron was not the brightest person, so he didn't pick up on her hints that she threw at him every now and then, and she didn't want to hurt his feelings.
Not to mention that Draco was the mortal enemy of both Harry and Ron.
They freaked out when she was under the influence of the love potion. She couldn't imagine what their reactions would be if she actually decided to try and give Draco a chance while not under the influence of the spell. The two of them would never believe it was legitimate. They would think that she was under the influence of another spell. And once they figured out that she wasn't under any spell, Ron would claim that she was 'bloody mental.' Not that she could blame them. If the situation were reversed she would think the same thing.
Hermione snapped out of her thoughts and focused back on Ginny.
"It's for the best" Hermione stated simply as she stood up.
Ginny was about to protest but Blaise elbowed her sharply and she shut her mouth.
"I'm going to head to bed, you two are welcome to stay and talk as late as you want. Just please, no fooling around on my couches" Hermione said as she winked and then walked to her room.
"No promises there" Blaise said putting an arm around Ginny's shoulders.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Whatever Zabini. Night guys" Hermione said as she waved and shut her bedroom door behind her.
As soon as Hermione shut her door, Ginny rounded on Blaise.
"What the hell was that for?" she asked massaging her ribs in the place that he had elbowed her.
"Sorry, I don't realize my own strength sometimes. I was just trying to stop you from making a comment, because I knew you were about to" Blaise said.
"Why?" Ginny asked raising an eyebrow.
"Because you can't keep pushing her. It's just going to annoy her and piss her off. And if you noticed, she never did answer if not talking to Draco is what she wanted. She avoided that question altogether and just stated that it was 'for the best' not that it's something that she wanted."
Ginny nodded and said "Yeah, I noticed that too and that's what I was going to question her about before you rudely elbowed me in the ribs, whichactually hurt thank you very much."
"Well you could always take your shirt off and I could kiss it better if you like?" Blaise asked smirking.
Ginny smacked Blaise playfully and said "Pig!"
"Yeah, but you like it" Blaise said with a wink.
Ginny blushed but didn't deny it.
"Anyways back to the Hermione and Malfoy problem" Ginny started.
"Right" Blaise said. "The reason I elbowed you is because if you keep asking her questions then she is just going to give you an answer to satisfy you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is the right answer. And I think it's best if she doesn't answer, that way she doesn't have something that she has to stick to and support. I know that she is a stubborn girl, and once she says something, she sticks to it. So if you were to push her to answer and she ended up saying that not talking to Draco is what she wanted, then she would convince herself that it's how she truly feels. But, since she didn't give us a straight answer, that gives us some room to play around with."
Ginny stared at Blaise with her mouth opened dumfounded.
"What?" Blaise said smirking. "Surprised I'm both smart and good looking?"
Ginny rolled her eyes and said "Oh please, don't be so into yourself. But what you said does make sense. So what are we going to do?"
"Well, I'm going to talk to Draco and figure out what his problem is, and then we can go from there. These two aren't going to figure things out on their own clearly, so we are going to have to give them the extra push that they need" Blaise stated.
"And how are we going to do that?" Ginny asked curiously.
"Don't worry, I have a plan" Blaise stated confidently.
