Last Time:
The magical felines mewed happily, but jumped in surprise as Rabastan rushed down the stairs, “I think Draco figured out where the last horcrux might be.”

In an instant Peter grabbed and chugged the Skele-gro Rabastan had in his hand, “Where?” He asked ignoring the sparks of pain that zipped through his ribs as the potion forced them to heal at unnatural rates.
The mind healer tried to give Peter the healing salve for his cuts, bruises and a few small burns on his body, but Peter shrugged it off apparently not interested in wasting time on minor injuries in this case, “It’s just a theory, but it definitely makes sense.” Rabastan said as he handed the other healing salves to his brother who would finish passing it around to those who were hurt. “It was the trap that tipped Draco off to it. Any gryffindor would have grabbed the tie directly, but a Slytherin had to grab the branch or risk breaking the rules-“
Lucius scoffed from his spot on the second floor landing, “That has always been the case. If we didn’t do that the consequences will far exceed anything a gryffindor would get.”
“Gryffindors don’t realize that. They’d see it as our inability to take risks or a weakness.” Rabastan explained and he could see realization dawn on everyone’s faces. Minus the two faces still in the pensieve, of course.
Narcissa gasped softly, “Rules mean-“
“Points! I’m on it!” Peter exclaimed before racing passed Rabastan and poor Barty, who only just entered the manor, off towards the place where the vanishing cabinet was hidden. Lucius ran after Peter, but, much to Narcissa’s annoyance, not to stop him. He went to help.
“Wait! You haven’t healed-“ Narcissa huffed as Peter disappeared around a corner with Lucius. She knew it was pointless to waste her breath at this point because he was long gone. She shot Barty a sharp look. “Why didn’t you stop him?”
Barty paled, “... ummmmm I’m sorry?”” He said both very confused and slightly fearful. “So … what’d I miss?” He asked, wondering why the elves were sealing up a hole in the floor and two people in a pensieve.
Rabastan sighed, “Long story.”

Harry suddenly bolted upright after a sickening feeling disrupted his sleep barely an hour after he fell asleep. It must’ve been around 5 or 6 hours after curfew and he looked around to try to discover what woke him only to find Vesta shaking against his side and hissing angrily. The fox seemed to be staring at the door and to add to the confusion whatever frightened her seemed to be everywhere outside. To be precise, her eyes flickered around as if she couldn’t lock onto the enemy, but it was close enough for her to know that the door was the only way it’d get in.
“Vesta.” Harry said with a gentle nudge, but was surprised to hear her growl even more. This was something he could no longer ignore. “Hide me.” He said firmly hoping the fox would calm down enough to hide him and she did. Once he knew he was safe under the illusion he slipped out from under the sheets. Harry took the second wand that he kept on a hidden calf holster since Poppy took his other wand. Of course, injured people shouldn’t carry wands.
One quick spell made it look like his hair was poking up from under the sheets. Anyone from a distance would think Harry was sleeping. He didn’t want to show his face in case Dumbledore tried to look closer. A skilled wizard like him would spot a spell like that almost immediately especially with too much detail. When he and Vesta get out of the room, therefore out of Vesta’s illusion reach, it will be enough to trick someone in a dark room
“Come on, Vesta.” Harry urged her gently as he carefully moved around the bed .
‘A nasty spell … something isn’t in balance.’ Vesta answered through her illusion.
The soft squeak when she was picked up made Harry smile despite his concern, “Let’s go see.” He said and finally Vesta calmed down enough to take the lead.
In any other circumstance Harry would consider going back to sleep, but the fact that Vesta sensed this power worried him. After all, the familiar was capable of sensing dead magic so if that was this then it could be horcrux related. Granted, that wasn’t likely considering the Whomping Willow wasn’t in the castle. Unless Dumbledore decided he wanted a Whomping Willow bonsai tree for his office that was unlikely, but he couldn’t shake the feeling something was very wrong.
Once he saw that the fox was actually leading him towards Dumbledore’s office.he paused a moment. A part of him wondered if he should go tell the others of what he was doing. That would be the safest option, but before he could turn back the griffin statue started turning.
“What’s he doing this late at night?” Harry whispered as the wizard strolled out and down the hallway. Harry watched curiously as the wizard casually dropped something on the ground. It looked like a lump of clay with a hair sticking out of it.
As Dumbledore returned to his office Harry spotted a flicker of something scurry by in the darkness. In any other circumstance he’d be worried, but Vesta seemed happy by the little shadow. In fact, he felt the illusion shift to allow the thing in.
“Harry? What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be in the infirmary?” A familiar voice said from the darkness and Peter stepped out.
Harry raised an eyebrow, “I could say the same for you. Don’t worry, I spelled the sheets so if he peeks at me he won’t know.” He commented when he saw that Peter looked as if he barely had a chance to recover or even change from the madness from earlier. Most of which Harry didn’t have the details for. “Vesta felt something … very wrong. She didn’t say it was dead magic, but it was bad and it led us here. We saw Dumbledore come out of his office and put-“ Harry paled as he turned his head.
Peter was alert, serious and still sore, “What is it?”
“There …” Harry pointed to the empty dark hallway. “Dumbledore put a ball of clay with a hair right there.” He said as he, Vesta and Peter moved cautiously towards the spot. “Where’d it go?”
“Hmmm … clay and a hair … a golem?” Peter suggested not wanting to show his concern.”
“It could be a very weak golem. He did send golems after me and Tom in the forest, but those were high quality golems that even had blood … why would he suddenly switch to using something that’s basically one step above a doll?” Harry pondered.
Peter knelt down to look at the stone floor, “The only reason he wouldn’t waste his time is if it isn’t a big concern-“ the subtle sight of a bird’s silhouette lit up by the slight starlight caught Peter’s attention. “That’s Quirinus. Can you let him in? We need to hurry before dawn breaks.”
“What’s going on?” Harry asked as he opened the closest window and Vesta allowed the sparrow into the safety of their illusion.
The bird’s eyes widened and he shifted into Quirinus, “Harry? What- never mind. The more help the better and Vesta will be perfect in checking out this horcrux now that she’s not protecting you while you sleep.”
Harry cringed as he recalled the moment he learned of the headmaster’s prying eyes, “She’s the only reason I slept at all.” He muttered before focusing on what really mattered. “You found a horcrux?”
Peter grinned, “Draco did, actually. Well it’s a theory, but it makes sense considering the trap-“
“We should all find the time to compare notes and catch up later. Right now let’s get moving. Severus and Tom are waiting for me to confirm that Dumbledore isn’t watching.” Quirinus said as he moved back towards the window.
Harry frowned, “Dumbledore was just up. He released a golem. It was probably a weak golem so we won’t need to worry about it attacking, but it’s another thing to watch out for.”
Quirinus sighed, “It’s just one of those days … I’ll check on Dumbledore first and warn the others then take a lap around the school. Maybe I can spot it.” He said before shifting into his feathered form and flying into the night sky.
“Where should we meet everyone?” Harry asked as he shut the window.
Peter nodded and took off with Harry and Vesta hot on his heels, “First, we should grab Lucius. He’s waiting with the vanishing cabinet. Then we go to the entrance hall.”

Sirius and Remus saw the horrible memory through to the end. They even saw Peter use a water spell to fill his bottomless bag as he fell into the raging inferno that was a forest. What sent flying out of the memory in terror was the visage of a flaming acromantula charging the white owl who dove down to snatch the bag.
“Dear fucking Merlin.” Sirius gasped when they escaped the pensieve. “We … we were going to land in that! It’s a death trap!”
“We’d appreciate silence.”
Sirius blinked as he came to his senses and finally saw a team of goblins speaking to a group of young witches and wizards, “Sorry!” He yelped sheepishly and the goblin huffed before speaking to the ones in Slytherin uniforms. He sighed in relief and whispered softly to Remus who had a strong grip on his arm. “It’s ok, Remmy. The spiders are-ow ow ow! Remmy, let go!”
“Spiders!” Remus squeaked in his shocked and terror filled state. Sirius gasped as the werewolf’s grip got stronger making him wince in pain.
Bellatrix scowled at her cousin who was still making noise, “Barty, go shut them up.” She hissed under her breath.
Barty quickly went over to see what the problem was, “What’s wrong? You guys have to be quiet- … oh.” He gaped at the strange color purple Sirius’ arm was turning thanks to Remus’ grip. It didn’t look like it’d be a quick fix so Barty just put a privacy spell around them so wouldn’t bother anyone. “Ok ummm … Remus?”
“No good.” Sirius squeezed out through gritted teeth. “Acromantula scared him!”
“Oh!” Barty immediately knew who to get and quietly went to get Rabastan. “Remus is in shock.” He said just as the final vows were being made.
Rabastan followed Barty into the unseen bubble made by the privacy spell, “I think I’ll numb his wrist first and then talk to him.” He said before quickly casting a spell one the practically catatonic werewolf, which made the hand go limp.
Sirius immediately pulled his arm away and started rubbing it to get the blood flowing again, “Thanks.” He said as the life returned to the limb. “So where did Peter go?” He finally asked after he quietly watched the goblins switch from taking vows to apparently checking the house’s rune system.
“He was worried about Harry so he went to check on him.” Barty said, trying not to give too much detail.
“Harry …” Sirius said softly before turning to look at Rabastan who was gently rubbing circles on the werewolf’s back to calm him. “You implied that Harry needed me, but did you do all this for that reason? Does he need me to be sane?”
Rabastan frowned, “Yes. Dumbledore is targeting him-“ he saw Sirius’ eyes flicker towards the selection of portkeys. “Not in that way … Dumbledore is responsible for putting Harry with abusive caretakers-“ In a flash Rabastan grabbed Sirius’ arm knowing full well that the former Auror’s temper was flaring. “Dumbledore took advantage of your temper once before. Please don’t lose it now and put Harry and so many others in danger.”
Sirius opened his mouth to snap at the man, but one look at his mind healer’s firm and pleading eyes he scoffed. “I can’t just … fine, so what should I do?” He sighed in defeat. Of course, his first reaction was to hunt down and murder the person who hurt those he loved, but after his mistakes with Peter backfired it was obvious that he couldn’t repeat that again.
Barty pointed towards the goblins, “You could start by adding yourself as a witness-“
“No.” Sirius exclaimed, shaking his head furiously. “I will do anything for Harry, but if I bring up what happened here Remus will be …” Sirius let his sentence drop. There was no point in what would happen to a werewolf who is deemed violent.
“Nothing happened here though.” Rabastan said, managing to catch both Sirius and Remus’ attention. “You must know by now that you attacked a group of people, golems actually, who were attacking Harry. That’s all that you saw and going by that you, or Sirius depending on which conclusion the ministry jumps to, had every right to protect Harry. As far as anyone knows, everything happened at Hogwarts. Nothing happened here.”
Remus blinked, “You guys didn’t report me?”
Barty smiled, “Narcissa already talked to the goblins and you aren’t being charged.”
“Wait! How are you going to explain how we got here?” Sirius asked knowing some things didn’t add up.
“Who said we had to explain that at all?” Rabastan asked, earning a couple confused looks. “We only have to prove that all those Slytherins were here during the attack and not involved with attacking Harry. If they were here then Remus never truly attacked a real people therefore no harm done and there’s no sign that someone went out of control here sooo …” Rabastan shrugged, feeling that his point was made. Though he waited to be sure since thick skulls seem to be a common trait and he may need to explain again.
“It doesn’t …” Sirius muttered after he realized all of the floor was repaired. Sure the furniture hasn’t been replaced yet, but it definitely didn’t look like a werewolf went crazy or that a battle occurred only minutes ago.
Finally, Barty dropped the privacy spell and they went over to the main goblin of the team who looked at them with a sneer, “Good to see the reports were true and that you are healthy enough to cause controlled disruptions.”
“Reports?” Sirius asked, a little confused.
“Yes, your mind healer has been keeping us up to date.” The goblin reaffirmed.
Remus looked down at the goblin, “Did … did anyone ask for news on him?”
“No one.” The goblin said, not realizing the impact that his words, the words from a representative of Gringotts, had on the two.
Sirius clenched his teeth and tried to control his temper, which wasn’t easy considering Dumbledore’s betrayal was confirmed, “Can we talk after I add myself as a witness here?”
The goblin nodded sharply, “Of course.”

Severus quickly woke up as a rat pushed his door open, “And?” He asked, still half asleep.
Peter shifted quickly, “He’s not watching now! We need to remove the horcrux-“
Faster than anyone thought possible the potion master threw the blankets aside. “Where?” He asked as he spelled his clothes on and grabbed the horcrux detecting hourglass all with one graceful motion.
After a few minutes Peter and Severus found themselves approaching the four large hourglasses that tracked the house points throughout the school year. For a second it seemed like there was no one there, but they felt the air around them shift slightly. When Tom, Lucius, Harry, Quirinus and Vesta appeared it became clear that they were hidden by an illusion.
“The Slytherin hourglass.” Lucius said once Severus was let in the illusion and he caught the horcrux detector that the potion master tossed to him.
Everyone held their breath as the smooth glass of the house points hourglass connected with smooth wood of the base of the horcrux detector. Only a second passed in reality, but it felt like a torturously slow eternity. Finally, a bubble of the contents popped up and moved towards the large hourglass.
It was confirmed. They did have the final horcrux! Now the question was, how do they get it out?
Peter watched as Lucius handed the little hourglass back to Severus and began examining the large Slytherin hourglass, “What do you think?” Peter asked as he kept an eye on the slowly rising sun.
“The outside doesn’t have runes, but … bloody hell …” Lucius scowled and tried to lean in closer to the tall hourglass. “It’s too tall, but I can see the small runes under the top. I bet the level of the sand is monitored, which means-“
“We can’t open it from the outside without triggering the runes.” Tom concluded getting a nod of agreement from Lucius. “There has to be a way.”
All minds were spinning around ways to get the last piece. One suggestion was to try to levitate the sand and try to filter out the horcrux, whatever it may be. It sounded ok, but Lucius was worried about the runes hidden under the sand. Also the top and bottom parts were practically fused and maybe it was magically fused after the sand was added. Of course, it didn’t matter because even if the hourglass was able to be taken apart the runes would be triggered.
Idea after idea were bounced around, but each were shot down. The hunt for a solution to the puzzle was not only intriguing, but powered by desperation. Unfortunately, everyone was so absorbed that they didn’t notice how far the sun has risen except for Harry, who coincidentally saw a glint of the sunlight on his fake glasses as he rubbed his tired eyes. In mere moments the entire castle will be up. The Aurors will be coming back and eager to get someone arrested. Dumbledore and crowds of students will be roaming the halls.
A thought occurred to Harry, but there was no time to explain, “There is a solution. I’ll just give him what he wants..” Everyone felt a shaking in the castle under their feet and turned to see Harry actually allowing his magic to explode forth and whip around violently. “Vesta, keep them hidden. You guys, be ready to grab whatever the horcrux is.” Harry told his familiar as he stepped out of the illusion.
They tried to get Harry to clarify and return to the safety of the illusion, but it was too late. A massive blast of magic pinned them to the stone wall and shattered every single glass item on this floor including the hourglasses tracking the house points. In that instant everything turned to terror for the headmaster himself apparated right behind Harry ...
