Luna, Dumbledore and Bill sat patiently in the Headmaster’s office while Snape went to floo Lucius.
Georgia made tea for everyone and tried to make conversation in the tense silence.
Luna took to Georgia naturally. She fell into her pattern of telling the woman about all the (supposedly imaginary) mythical creatures that hung around Hogwarts to help the students. To everyone’s surprise, Georgia took just as well to Luna and both parties had the whole entire office filled with cheerfulness and glee.
Bill watched the scene, fascinated by the sight of Luna glowing with excitement. It was the first time since he began teaching at Hogwarts that he saw such a free expression on Luna’s face.
He never realized how beautiful she was … not that he was supposed to anyway. He was a teacher and she was a student. That way the way it had to be.
‘But you won’t be teaching here forever—as soon as Lupin’s done with his mission you will be free notice everything you want about her including that nice little body she—’
Bill pushed those thoughts firmly from his head. Luna was his sister’s age. He couldn’t possibly be lusting after a 16 year old—he wasn’t like Snape and Malfoy!
Crossing his strong arms over his broad chest, Bill looked away from Luna and tried to think of something else.
Snape and Lucius finally came to the office. Lucius’ face was blank but his aura spoke of something more sinister. In his eyes, one could not miss the brightness that fairly shouted murder. Georgia patted Luna on the hand and left the room. Dumbledore would tell her everything once the meeting was over.
“Lucius, so nice to see you even under these dire circumstances,” Dumbledore said with a friendly smile.
Lucius remained silent, simply staring at Dumbledore.
“Excellent!” Dumbledore exclaimed, as if Lucius had said something pleasant to him.
“Have you found anything else out about her whereabouts?” Lucius asked quietly. No one missed the way he tightened his hold on his cane. He looked ready to hex anyone who gave him an answer he didn’t want to hear.
“No we haven’t found a thing yet—but maybe we can gain a few clues from Miss Lovegood,” Dumbledore said focusing his attention on Luna.
Luna smiled grimly and leaned back in her seat. She would tell everything if she could get her friend back.
She turned to her best friends’ two lovers and nodded to the empty seats on the couch by the fire place.
“Professor Snape, Mister Malfoy, you might want to take a seat. This could be a long story,”
The two men glared at Luna but sat down. Luna took no offense—they weren’t happy about losing the woman they loved and were anxious to get her back.
“I was sitting outside near the lake thinking about my mum—she died a few months back in a Death Eater raid and I hadn’t been taking it all in very well. Anyway, while I was sitting there, a Humplefrank—”
Lucius stood up, his barely contained rage finally flowing freely. Snape put a restraining arm on Lucius’ cane so that he wouldn’t fire a hex at the blonde girl.
“We don’t have time to listen to any of this loony Humplefrank nonsense! The mother of our children and our fiancée is out there somewhere, her chances of surviving decreasing as each minute passes us by!” Lucius raged.
Bill’s hand snapped to his wand by reflex. If Malfoy tried to harm one blonde hair on the pretty girls head …
Luna simply stared at Lucius with her big blue eyes.
“It’s part of the story Mister Malfoy—I have to tell all of it otherwise we’ll end up wasting the same amount of time questioning why I was doing what I was doing,”
Snape stood and whispered something Lucius’ ear. Lucius seemed to visibly calm a little but he still stared at Luna with unconcealed rage.
“Go on then—but spare us from as much of the pixie nonsense as you can,”
Luna simply smiled at Malfoy and continued her story.
“As I was saying, I was sitting at the lake when a Humplefrank jumped on my stomach. To make a long story short, it led me deep into the forbidden forest where my mother buried a box for me to find with Humplefrank goggles and a letter she wrote,”
Luna pulled the parchment from inside her robe and handed it to Dumbledore. Everyone in the room seemed surprised that Luna was actually telling a somewhat valid tale.
Dumbledore pulled his spectacles to the bridge of his crooked nose and begin to read while Luna finished her tale.
“As I was walking out of the forest waving at a few Snorklebunnies, I saw Ginny walking by lake with a Snape impersonator. He had her under the Imperius curse. Before I could run over to help her, the figure disappeared with Ginny in thin air. I ran to Professor Snape as soon as I could after I knew she was really gone,”
The room fell silent when she finished speaking. Lucius massaged his head with his leather clad hands while Snape discreetly rubbed the pureblood’s back, his own face a mixture of anger and helplessness.
Bill was visibly worried. He rubbed his own temples and stared at the floor.
Dumbledore put the parchment down on his desk and put his fingers together, his old mind working quickly to add new thoughts and throw a few out. He turned his attention to Snape and Lucius.
“Could this be the work of Tom?”
Snape shook his head.
“No—he cares for Ginevra deeply but he not so in love that he would completely lose all reason and kidnap her under your nose,” Snape said.
Lucius finally looked up, shaking his head at Snape’s statement.
“I don’t know Severus—remember, he confessed his love to her on Valentine’s Day. He may have finally lost his head and taken her for good,”
“Wait one moment—Tom actually said he loved Ginevra?” Dumbledore asked, gaining an edge to his voice.
The two Death Eaters looked surprised by the change in the old man’s demeanor but nodded their heads yes nonetheless.
Dumbledore leaned back in his chair but said nothing more on the manner. Everyone in the room could practically hear the wheels in his head turning.
“Then how do you explain the dark spell that was used to get Ginny off the school grounds?” Bill asked into the charged silence.
“The Dark Lord wouldn’t have problems finding a spell to counteract one spell at Hogwarts. He’s a very powerful man and if he wants something he’ll stop at nothing to get it,” Lucius said.
Lucius stood and walked toward the door.
“I’m going to see the Dark Lord right now. When I get some answers, I’ll come back and report to you,”
Dumbledore knew he could not stop Lucius and instead bid him a farewell.
He focused his attention on the remaining people in his office.
“Miss Lovegood, thank you for helping us work through a few things regarding Ginevra’s disappearance. You can return to Ravenclaw tower and finish any work you need to make up from missing classes today,”
Luna stood and gave Dumbledore a large smile.
“Anything to get Ginny back Headmaster. If you need me for anything else just tell me,”
Dumbledore smiled and held out her mother’s letter. Luna took it.
“Congratulations on your new responsibility Miss Lovegood—I’m sure your mother would have been proud,”
Luna held back the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes. She gave Dumbledore a weak smile.
“I think she would have been too,”
With those parting words, Luna left the office.
“Professor Weasley and Professor Snape, I will need you both to continue with your classes for today. If anything urgent comes up I’ll send someone to fetch you,”
Both men grumbled but left the office nonetheless. The old man was right of course—there was really nothing they could do until Lucius came back from the Dark Lord.
Dumbledore let out a sigh and sagged into his chair. Retirement was looking better and better every day.
---
Lucius apparated to the Dark Lord’s secret hide out. With a few taps of his wand a rock on the slope of a giant mountain in unknown parts of Europe slid open. As soon as Lucius walked inside the warm, cozy exterior that looked identical to the foyer of his Mansion, a house elf popped into the room and grabbed his cloak before it fell to the ground.
Lucius ignored the animal and walked down the hallway to the sitting room. He knew how the house worked. If the Dark Lord didn’t call you, you had to wait until he was ready for you.
On the outside, Lucius was very calm but on the inside he was suffering mental anguish that made him want to check himself into St. Mungos’. The love of his life was gone—and he had no idea where she was.
He wanted to go out and tear Europe apart looking for her but knew better. Whoever had her had her hidden well. But maybe he was worrying for nothing. If the Dark Lord had her, then she was safe (an odd twist of logic but true nonetheless).
After twenty minutes of waiting, a house elf appeared and told Lucius that the Dark Lord was ready to see him.
Lucius followed the elf, his heart rate speeding up as he did so. He was actually praying that Ginny was sitting there with the Dark Lord tending to his every need. At least he and Severus would know where she was.
After stopping in front of the door to the library and hearing a soft enter, Lucius braced himself for the sight of his love sitting next to the Dark Lord on the couch.
His heart fell into his stomach when he simply saw the Dark Lord in a hood bending over a stack of parchments. Ginny was nowhere in sight.
When The Dark Lord turned to look at Lucius, the pureblood’s mind came back to him. He dropped to his knee and bowed low.
“M’lord,”
Voldemort simply waved a hand a hand for him to get up.
“Off your knees—and don’t call me Lord anymore, it makes me feel like a crusty old man with horrible out of style clothing. Just call me Tom,”
Only years of restraint stopped Lucius’ jaw from dropping to the floor. Voldemort sounded so … human. And the fact that he wanted to be referred to as Tom was a shock. He used to kill followers for calling him Tom. Lucius locked the new development in the back of his mind to tell Dumbledore later.
“Of course Tom,”
“What did you come here for?” Voldemort asked turning back to his parchments.
Lucius couldn’t help but notice that the skeletal hands that Voldemort usually had were the slender hands of a man.
“Well Tom, there are reports in Hogwarts that a student is missing and I was wondering if maybe you had something to do with it so I can know what to cover up,” Lucius said slyly.
Voldemort looked away from his writing to look Lucius in the eyes.
All Lucius could see of Voldemort’s face were his eyes which were no longer red, but a beautiful shade of green.
“I haven’t ordered anything in months Lucius, you know that,”
Lucius frowned in confusion.
“So you have nothing to do with Ginny Weasley’s disappearance?”
Voldemort’s quill fell from his fingers as he stood quickly.
“Ginevra’s missing?” he asked anxiously.
Lucius’ heart fell even deeper in his stomach.
“Yes, she went missing this morning. I came here thinking you wanted her to be with you permanently as your mistress,” Lucius confessed.
Voldemort began to pace. After two minutes of it, he threw off his robe. For the first time in months, Lucius saw his Masters’ full form.
Before, Voldemort had been inside a body that was used purely as a means to an end. Now, he was once again the twenty year old Tom Riddle that Lucius had met years ago. Lucius was so shocked, that all he could do was stare as the leader of dark magic paced.
“I want every available man out there looking for her. Leave no lead unfollowed,” Voldemort snapped.
Lucius simply inclined his head to show that he understood.
“Leave me! I want her here by the end of the night or heads will be rolling,” Voldemort growled, flicking his wand to the door. Lucius made a quick and graceful exit.
As he made his way out the secret location, the reality that his soon to be wife was nowhere to be found hit him hard. A slew of emotions ran through his system, anger, pain, sadness; fear … the list was endless. Would he ever get to be with both mates like he craved or would his life continue to be full of tragic moments where the people he gave his heart to disappeared forever?
---
Ron, Harry, and Hermione entered the Great Hall with grim looks on their faces. None of the other students noticed. The room was full of bright laughter and gossip. The trio sat at their end of the table, picking at their food and staring at the empty Headmaster’s chair, hoping beyond hope that the powerful man could wave his wand and bring Ginny back.
Luna sat at the table with them, trying to remain cheerful for them despite their dark gazes in her direction. She understood that it wasn’t her personally; they just wanted Ginny back as much as she did.
Snape sat at the teacher’s table, staring at his food. He knew that his happiness with Ginny and Lucius had been too good to be true. He wasn’t destined to live a life where he could have two mates live with him in harmony. He couldn’t believe she was gone—his mate for life. He knew she was still alive; the magic binding them together would let him know if she had been killed right away.
The news Lucius had delivered before dinner crushed his heart into little pieces. If Voldemort didn’t have her, who in the hell did? It could be any body. Death Eaters around the world held a grudge against Ginny for her ease in getting the master to listen to everything she had to say.
Not all of the Death Eaters were idiots like Carrow. They could see the signs of a man turning good—the one thing most of them did not want to happen. They wanted a world where raping and stealing were the norm. They were Death Eaters for a reason after all.
Snape glanced over to Bill who picked at his food and ignored the useless prattling of a young female professor who had a thing for him. Snape knew the curse breaker probably felt worse than he did—she was his little sister after all and they did seem to have the strongest bond out of all the Weasley children (besides Fred and George of course).
Snape’s eyes strayed away from Bill to the empty seat of Dumbledore. The old man was working tirelessly with Lucius to figure out who took Ginny and where she might be. Snape would have stayed to help but Dumbledore declined saying that he needed to stay with the students and watch for suspicious activity.
Snape snorted. Almost everyone in the school—students and teachers alike—were idiots. The person who took Ginny was very intelligent, an outsider, someone who knew what they wanted. They just had to narrow down the list of dangerous Death Eaters and match those tactics with the right person.
Snape sipped at his tea and grimaced at the coldness of the liquid. What he wouldn’t do for a nice shot of firewhiskey. There was an emergency Order meeting that night and he didn’t relish the idea of telling the parents of his future bride that not only was he and Lucius were planning to marry her (he didn’t want to tell them but Lucius insisted that they ask for permission before proposing to Ginny), but that two of the most influential purebloods at Hogwarts failed to protect their daughter.
Towards the end of dinner, before the first few students began to walk out of the Hall, Dumbledore swept in, kindly telling the students to go back to their seats. It didn’t take long for the odd request to spread throughout the hall. The last time Dumbledore made the students stay after a meal was when he announced that his daughter would be staying in Hogwarts for a while. Students couldn’t wait to see what other juicy morsel of gossip Dumbledore would give them that night.
Dumbledore stood at his regular seat and waited for the large rumble of voices die down.
“I believe I have some bad news to deliver to you all tonight. A fellow member of the student body—Ginevra Weasley—went missing this afternoon,”
The hall exploded with conversation. The trio continued to look grime, Luna’s face was carefully blank, and the teachers looked worried and stressed out at the same time.
Dumbledore raised his hand and near silence overcame the hall once more.
“We are doing everything in our power to figure out what happened to Ginevra. I ask that you all please give her family the proper support in what I’m sure is a difficult time for all of them. Because of this new development, I am afraid that I will have to cancel Hogsmade until further notice until I know that my students are safe again. I will also have to enforce a new curfew—again for safety. If anything else changes I will inform you of it. For now, enjoy the rest of your dinner and get a good night’s rest,”
Dumbledore sat down and began to whisper to McGonagall. His actions were ignored while every gossiped and blew the disappearance out of proportion.
Slowly the Great Hall emptied. The trio bid Luna a goodnight when she decided to turn in and stood, putting their heads together and whispering. Draco followed them at a safe distance, after telling his friends that he had a secret mission from the dark Lord to follow Potter.
It didn’t take long for Hermione to catch Draco following them. She stopped and glared at him, Ron and Harry standing protectively at her side.
“Leave us alone ferret breath, we aren’t in the mood for your games today,” Hermione snapped, taking out her wand.
Draco held his hands up as a gesture of surrendering yet he couldn’t keep the sneer off his face. After all they were Gryffindors. But even he knew better than to mess with an emotional Hermione Granger.
“I’m not here to start anything—I just want to know if you have heard anything more about Weasley’s disappearance,”
“Why? So you can go mouth off about it to your daddy and the man your daddy calls a master?” Ron asked bitterly, taking out his own wand.
Draco’s eyes flashed dangerously.
“Watch what you say about my family Weasley—we’ll be in laws soon if you haven’t noticed how much my father dotes on your sister,” Draco spat.
Both Ron and Harry looked like they wanted to bash his head in but couldn’t discount what he said.
“Look, we’re wasting time sitting here and chatting. I have a reputation to keep up,” Draco said rearranging his robes arrogantly.
“We haven’t heard anything Malfoy. Dumbledore told us that he would inform us of any change, otherwise we know about as much as you do,” Ron said bitterly.
Draco raised an eyebrow and smoothed back his hair. To the trio he looked like a world class prick but what few people knew is that Draco fiddled with his hair when he was worried or nervous, just like his father.
“Looks as if my networking is better than yours—from what I heard from my resources, my father already went to the Dark Lord to figure out if he had her. He didn’t and sent every available resource scouting for her whereabouts,”
The trio paled even more. At least they had felt a little better knowing where she was if the Dark Lord had her. It was even scarier to picture her being taken by an unknown source.
A group of chattering females could be heard around the corner.
“There’s an emergency Order meeting tonight. I’m sure Snape will be picking all three of you up from the dorms to floo to Black’s house. We can talk more there,”
He stood up straight and swaggered around the corner, making the teenage girls giggle with pleasure upon seeing the blonde Slytherin in a different part of the castle.
The trio stood there, mouths agape. They couldn’t believe Draco Malfoy was actually telling them information that they desperately needed. Staring at each other in confusion, the trio made their way to their dorms, hoping that Draco was right about Snape picking them up for the meeting.

Ginny didn’t know how long she stayed in that cell, staring at the same four walls that were beginning to drive her crazy. From what she noticed, the sun went down twice which meant she had been stuck in the cell for at least two days.
She had yet to see her kidnappers. The most she got was some hard bread and cheese in the morning with a cup of water, a watery broth in the afternoon, and a cross between gruel and oil in the evening. She didn’t want to eat most of it but knew she had to for her babies. She only had two more months to go before she delivered and she would take what she could get when it came to nutrients.
After staring at the ceiling for an indefinite amount of time, two figures opened the door and stepped into the room.
All Ginny could do was tremble and stare into their faces. She was taken by the two people who hated her the most. She was fucked.
The first figure cackled madly as the second figure managed to have his voice carry over the obnoxious sound.
“Welcome to hell my dear,”
