“HOW DARE YOU!” the fates screamed as they hobbled in the circle with the fallen twins and a still twitching Philippe.
All the children surrounding the circle froze, their mouths hanging open. The three hags were hideous eyeless things with scraggly hair and gnarled hands. They carried one large eye, swinging it around wildly. It was enough to petrify everyone on looks alone.
“What’s your quarrel?” Philippe rasped.
“They were to NEVER give their gift to another living being!” Clothos screeched.
“Then I guess it is a very good idea that I’m dead,” Philippe said, standing up a bit straighter. His eyes were unfocused though. Hundreds of visions still crossed his eyes, each changing and morphing with all possible outcomes to every situation.
“They’ve combined them!” Lachesis screeched.
“And?” Philippe prodded.
Athropos raised her scissors in the air and produced two gold strands of web. “This means death!”
“No,” Philippe said strongly. His eyes were locked to his wife. “I didn’t ask for this. Let me give them back. Take me, but not them.”
“You are already dead,” Clothos spat. “You are of no use to us.”
“Give me a fucking break,” Rhapsody spat, blasting Deven away from her and freeing Cadence to step into the circle. “There is never any use for the dead except to torture the living.”
“You dare speak,” Lachesis hissed.
“I do,” Rhapsody growled. “I am a fated twin. It is my right, as it is the right of anyone touched by fate. You want to end the two people who have taught us control and discretion because they were trying to save a loved one?”
“They broke the rules,” Athropos said menacingly.
“Where was that fucking rule?” Cadence cried, finally breaking her silence. “ACCIO THE FUCKING STORY BOOK!”
The old tattered copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard came flying through the air at her. She deftly opened it up to the well warn tale and then threw it forcefully at the Fates, who screeched and jumped back, letting it fall to the ground just inches before it hit Philippe.
“You point it out in that fucking book,” Cadence yelled hysterically. “We’ve followed every word to the letter. Where was that rule?”
“The twins must not use their gifts for their own personal gain,” the Fates repeated together in a raspy voice reminiscent of Trelawney when she was seeing.
“How was this for their own personal gain?” Rhapsody broke in. “I can assure you, they knew they might die doing this. There is no personal gain if they don’t have their lives in the end.”
“They did it to save a lover.”
“They did it,” Cadence said, “to save a husband, a father, and a friend. Surely you know the fates of those who lose him.”
“Of course we do you stupid girl!” Clothos snapped.
“Then you know you are unfairly judging them,” Rhapsody said. “In which case, I will see to it to personally call on your father and tell him.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” the Fates shrieked.
“You bet your fucking creepy ass eyeball I would,” Rhapsody sneered. “My whole family is relying on this. We’ll fall apart without them. You’ll not take them without a fight.”
“And who is to stop us?” Athropos said. “You, twins of fate? You can’t fight your own destiny.”
“All of the fated will fight,” Draco called, unable to keep silent any longer. He pulled Hermione in to the circle with him.
“You are no match for us,” the Fates called.
“You have another pure couple in mind to complete the task you set?” Draco asked lightly.
“You know we don’t,” Lachesis said.
“Then you’ve trained our balanced replacements. You can just snuff us out and continue on using them in our stead.” Hermione said, shaking off her fear and following in Draco’s surprisingly reckless footsteps.
“No,” the Fates huffed.
“So you no longer have need of us then,” Draco said, acting bored. “After all, if you can just snap our lines, then you must not need this war to be stopped.
“We didn’t say that,” the Fates hissed.
Draco smirked. “Then we can stop you. Rhapsody might very well call Zeus. I’ll make sure he sees it our way.”
“NO!” The Fates screeched.
Another crack sounded out, light flooding the field for a few moments blinding everyone there. When it cleared, Nemesis and Fortuna were standing side by side looking quite put out.
“Well, well, Fates,” Nemesis growled. “I see you’re trying to put your feet in your mouths again.”
“They broke the law,” the fates said stubbornly. “They’ve combined their powers in a selfish move to save a lover, one lowly man who is already dead.”
“Nonsense,” Nemesis snapped. “They are doing our bidding and you dare to cut them down as they find a way to succeed. Combined, their powers are greater than your own.”
“Why are you here?” the Fates asked.
“I promised this family several boons for surviving the last situation we put them in,” Nemesis said. “I’m granting them another now.”
“NO!” The Fates screeched.
“YES!” Nemesis said, her voice thundering across the grounds, making them shake and crumble.
“Be gone,” Fortuna said softly. “For luck is on their side.”
The Fates screamed and cried but could not argue. They departed with a sickening thunk, leaving a cloud of smoke behind that made everyone cough. When the area cleared, Fortuna and Nemesis each had Philippe by an arm.
“Congratulations, father of the fated twins,” Fortuna said with a large smile. “You have finally been touched by fate. May luck be on your side always.”
“Really?” Philippe breathed. “Can they be spared?”
“Of course,” Nemesis said, looking rather upset. “I never go back on my word, unlike those three hags.”
“Thank you. Oh thank you.”
“Have you found the answer?” Nemesis asked, an eyebrow cocked in amusement.
“I have,” Philippe said softly. “Well, a means to an end, at least.”
“It is a start. I recommend not trying this way again,” Nemesis warned. “They might have forgiven this time, but you have been warned now. To go against their word would be foolish indeed. Therefore, you must return the gifts to their rightful owners. Now, lay your hand on the twins in the opposite order you were gifted and will the gift to return. Their magic should take over and do the rest.”
Philippe nodded and dropped to his knees, pulling Melody into his lap and cradling her head. He bowed his head, whispering a soft plea to take her gift back. A white light descended upon them before Melody’s eyes shot open and she reached up and grabbed his face, taking the gift and the magic into her. She exhaled sharply when the transfer was complete.
“Damn, what a headache,” Melody groaned and hauled herself out of Philippe’s lap, stumbling around for a moment before she found her purchase. She looked to the two goddesses who were standing just feet from her. “Oh, it’s you.”
Nemesis granted her a smirk and a nod, to which Melody gave a little bow and clambered out of the circle. She fell into Alex’s arms and shook, the force of her emotions weighting heavily on her heart. She was immensely glad she didn’t have to die but that was as close as she wanted to be to death for a long time.
Philippe immediately picked Harmony up once Melody left, cradling her like a doll in his arms and willing her to wake up and take her gift. She roused a few moments later and helped him, but she didn’t dare hug him. She was too afraid, too worried about his wellbeing.
“I’m okay,” Philippe said softly. “I have control with you. And I’m not going anywhere.”
“Thank the Fates for that,” Harmony cried and hugged him tightly, crying tears of joy. He was going to stay with her.
“The Fates my ass,” Rhapsody snapped as she tore into the circle with Cadence. “Those bitches wanted to end us all.”
“They always do,” Harmony said, welcoming a hug from her daughters. It was awkward because Philippe refused to put her down. Undeterred, the girls continued the hug, including their father.
“Well, not any longer,” Nemesis said. “Touched one, what have you discovered?”
Philippe started for a moment before regaining his balance. He put Harmony on the ground and centered himself to spill the very shocking news. It had rendered him speechless when he’d discovered it. There was no time to waste.
“The Master plans to create a great army, one like we’ve never seen before. Werewolves were only the tip of the iceberg. She wants all manner of creature half-lings, all missing part of a soul and easy to tame. Those stolen soul fragments will go to another witch or wizard to create an imperfect phenom. She’s… she’s aiming for a recreation of a pure… and she plans to appeal to the Gods to get it.”
“WHAT?” Nemesis screamed. Waves of anger radiated off of her, flattening he grass and causing the trees to sway dangerously in the breeze.
Everyone ducked from the force of her fury. Nemesis was not a Goddess to mess with. The children instinctively knew that, despite most having never met the Goddess before. They huddled together while the adults tried to gather themselves.
“I meant what I said,” Philippe continued on, trying to ignore the trembling in his legs. “She’s trying to create a pure, but without the obvious side effects that Hermione and Draco have. They’ll be like their children, only with no limits. It’s not possible, at least not by the laws of our magic. You must be whole and she’s going to try to combine the force of two. It won’t work initially. She’s going to try to call upon the Gods for favor.”
“Which ones?”
“It was blank,” Philippe said sadly. “I do wish I knew. I’d say whoever loves chaos and wants out.”
Melody coughed to cover her laugh. “That shouldn’t be too hard to figure out. Chaos, Eris, Ares, probably all under the command of Hades.”
“Well,” Nemesis sneered. “We will see about that. IF and only if it comes to that…pure couple, step forward.”
Draco grabbed Hermione’s hand and took one step forward, kneeling at the Goddess’ feet. They didn’t know what they were about to be charged with, but they knew it wasn’t good. In fact, it felt distinctly like one of those “Harry Potter- the Chosen One moments” to them.
“Pure couple,” Nemesis said softly. “You have been charged with keeping the peace on earth while keeping your identities a secret. Should your first plan to overthrow the Master fail…wipe them all out, no matter the cost.”
“What?” They cried, unable to believe what they’d just been ordered.
“Wipe. Them. All. Out.”
“But-but some are just children!” Hermione protested.
“They’ve already been touched by an overwhelming evil and greed,” Nemesis said seriously. “There is no hope if you can’t quell this before then. You have our orders. To disobey is not advised. Good luck fated ones.”
They cracked out of existence, returning the clearing to its previous state. Hermione and Draco stayed kneeling on the ground, unable to reconcile what they’d just heard. Nemesis had ordered an extermination of everyone related to the Master. Everyone. It was a heavy burden to bear, and they were more determined than ever to succeed. They would NOT kill possibly hundreds of innocent humans because they were connected to a maniac.
Draco remembered all too well how he got sucked into the Dark Lord’s corner. Severus was in the same boat. How many serving the Master now where there because they had no other choice? This was unacceptable. They had to come up with a way to tell the loyal ones from the others who were just swept up.
“So,” Melody said uncomfortably as she scanned the perimeter of the circle. “I suppose you’d all like an explanation now?”
Everyone nodded, still scared stiff from the night’s proceedings.
“Right,” Melody sighed. “Well, let’s go into the house and discuss where we go from here.”

Close to dawn, dozens of very tired children appeared in Melody’s office. They’d spent most of the night going over the happenings in the back pasture. Blood oaths were given, unbreakable vows were taken, and the poor shell shocked mates of the family were speechless. They’d never realized how insignificant their plights were before.
The hardest part for them to understand was the involvement of the Gods. None of them had realized how closely they regulated the happenings on earth. Melody had smiled sadly and patiently told them that the Gods thought of them as playthings. However, they would cease to exist without the subjects they so happily played with. They weren’t happy about it, but they accepted it, some more readily than others.
“Okay,” Melody sighed. “New arrivals, please go with Severus to get checked in. This includes you Lily and Cecil. For you two, do NOT go anywhere without those blood vials around your necks. You’ll be very sorry should you lose one. However, if that happens, please come find one of us as soon as possible and we’ll help you out. Your parents have already given Sev permission to sign your papers, since he’s your grandfather and all, oh, and Cecil, you’re considered an orphan under his care.
Those of you who have been here, feel free to make the long trek back to your dorms. I’ve got permission slips for you being out past curfew should you get caught. I would advise you don’t though, especially if Sanders is back. Watch your backs. The story if you get caught is that you were worried about your grades for DADA and Potions. It’s flimsy, but we’ll be able to back you up. Training will start bright and early Monday morning. Any questions?”
“What about our dopplegangers?” Deven asked.
“Cast Finite Incantatum and they’ll turn back into toothpicks,” Melody said.
Satisfied, the children left, a little tired and weary, but none the worse for wear. The spectacle of the night had left most of them speechless, including the family. Nemesis showing up once to bring Lazarus back was passed off as a dream. Showing up again to spare the lives of others and stand up against the actual Fates, that was something else entirely. Realizing that this war included the Gods, that had been unfathomable. Now they just wanted sleep.
“We’ve got to hurry and finish this,” Draco said once the children had left. “I’m not sure I could live with myself if I had to kill hundreds of innocents.”
“Not to mention the fact that your secret would be out,” Melody sighed.
“I don’t know,” Hermione said with a frown. “I’m just as much against it as Draco, but if we lured them all to one place like we did for the final battle, we might be able contain it without the rest of the world knowing.”
“But no one would be able to escape,” Melody said. “You’d have to destroy them anyway.”
Draco caught a glance of what was running through Hermione’s mind and his eyes lit up. “That might work.”
“What might work?” Melody asked with a frown.
“Hermione is thinking about taking them out in pockets.”
“But that’s still killing them all,” Melody said with a frown.
“Not if we have help, if we know their minds,” Hermione said softly. “You can tell if a person is redeemable, right?”
“Well,” Melody hedged. “It takes both of us. I have to look at their aura, Harmony has to touch them. And then there are the things they keep hidden. Occlumency doesn’t impede us necessarily, but if they have their thoughts behind a wall, a false one could give the wrong meaning.”
“What do you mean?” Hermione asked.
“Well, say for instance we cornered Michael. Now, he’s already hostile. If he has the ability to shield his mind, which I doubt, then he could be thinking of another emotion while we ask. Like, say you asked him if he believes in pureblood doctrine. The answer would be yes, but if he allows his anger at us to seep into his mind while he answers, it could give the indication that he might be lying.”
“Could you break his shields?” Draco asked.
“You know I could,” Melody scoffed. “But he might feel it. There is only one person who could read their mind regardless of a shield, Emily Creevey.”
“But she’s so young,” Hermione protested.
“And she’s just as much a part of this as we are,” Melody said sadly. “I do believe that is why the Fates brought us all together.”
“Wider resources,” Draco said with a nod. “Well, I’m afraid it can’t be helped. However, we can take out pockets. It won’t be much of a fight, but I-I just don’t know how else to do this. I suppose we could take out the Master and keep an eye on the others.”
“We have to find the Master first,” Melody corrected. “And we can help you there. Once she’s out of the way, we need to make sure that no one else follows in her footsteps. Which means that little Cygnus is toast.”
“Somehow, that doesn’t bother me,” Draco said coldly.
Melody shrugged. “Doesn’t bother me much either. Now, you two get some sleep. I’ll go help Sev with the newbies. Hopefully Whorple won’t sense something going on.”

“I can’t sleep,” Hermione sighed and fidgeted again, rolling onto her side facing Draco. She felt restless and angry and it was starting to annoy her.
“So don’t,” Draco growled. He wasn’t in much better shape but the million thoughts leaking into his head from hers was making it worse.
“Fine,” Hermione snapped and tore the bedcovers back, hopping out of bed and pacing back and forth.
“Go pace somewhere else,” Draco sighed and rubbed his face. “You’re making me dizzy.”
“Where else am I going to go? Stupid Whorple and her damned wards are monitoring the study.”
“So do something else besides pace. Seriously, I’m getting seasick!”
“What else is there to do?” Hermione threw her hands up. “I have to keep moving or I’m going to go crazy.”
“Well, I could think of a few things to keep you moving,” Draco hedged, wondering if he would get shot down.
“I’m too fidgety for sex,” Hermione said irritably. “I know you’d want to tie me down and I just can’t handle that right now. I don’t even have the patience to tie you down. No, I just…uh, this is horrible.”
“Well,” Draco said, smirking a bit. “Once upon a time, you used to sneak up to the ROR and um…unwind.”
Hermione hummed in distraction. “It helped me focus, gave me something to pay attention to that didn’t require a whole lot of anything other than strength and agility.”
“And you were bloody gorgeous while you were at it.”
Hermione stopped, her mouth hanging open a moment or two at the lewd picture she got in her head from her husband. She smiled, a slow sexy smile and waved her hand. A large stripper pole on a platform appeared a few feet away from the bed. She walked over and pulled on it a few times, testing its stability before she spun around it quickly.
Draco’s eyes locked to her frame, remembering long ago when he first saw her spinning around a similar pole. That was the first time he ever seen her dance and then danced with her…and it was amazing. Well, every moment with her was amazing. Okay, not every moment but the majority of them. He never wanted to be without her, bond or his own bidding notwithstanding.
Hermione sighed, relaxing a bit as she came to a stop. Yes, this would do nicely. She quickly transfigured her nighty into a sexy little red lace bra with matching boyshorts. They made her feel sensual and were a lot easy to move in than the gauzy night gown. Another flick of her finger and a slow rhumba beat filled the room. She really did love dancing, but tonight called for something a bit more challenging.
Draco groaned when he saw his wife’s new outfit. It contrasted sharply with her pale skin and made her look devilishly wicked. It was all he could do not to jump up and take her against the pole, her wishes be damned. But he’d never do that to her. She needed this, the focus to keep her raging thoughts at bay. So he settled for leaning back against the headboard and freeing his aching member from the confines of his silk sleep trousers.
Hermione faltered when she saw Draco take out his cock and stroke it leisurely. He looked like a panther, ready to strike its prey. Still, she didn’t think she could settle down yet and made another leisurely turn around the pole, sliding down into the splits facing him. He groaned and she licked her lips at the sound. This was making her feel naughty and it was delicious.
Draco sat mesmerized as Hermione jumped up and grabbed the pole, climbing up to the top before flipping upside down and doing the splits again. Then she pulled her body around, wrapping her legs around the pole and spiraling down before crawling across the floor on her arms until she her feet could barely touch the pole. He couldn’t help but grip himself harder when she arched her back, pulling herself back to a standing position and sauntering back to the pole. She was trying to kill him.
Hermione smirked at him before climbing up again and flipping upside down. This time, she wrapped one of her legs around the pole and locked it behind the other, freeing her hands so she could rub down her body with them. She buried them in her hair before sliding back down, waiting until the last moment before doing a hand stand and flipping upright again. She held onto the pole and did the splits again, this time keeping her back to Draco.
Draco let out a loud moan when he saw her luscious backside slide down into a beautiful split position. He imagined those toned thighs wrapping around him, that juicy bum bouncing up and down as he pounded her from behind. His breath sped up, coming out in little pants as she worked the pole like she was fucking it. Oh how he wanted to be the pole right then.
Hermione was starting to feel the burn now, the welcoming pain of stretching her muscles to the limit. Her mind shut down and started humming along with the music, thinking of nothing but her next move. Draco’s hand was flying back and forth over his erection now, pre cum flowing freely from the purpling tip. She wanted to make him lose it, become so engrossed in her act that he pushed himself to cum. He never did, always holding out for her but she wanted to see it.
Draco was trying desperately to hold back. He never finished by wanking, especially not when his wife was on the same continent…so never. However, no matter how desperately Hermione had tried to shield her wish from him, he’d caught it. She wanted him to lose it and she wanted to see it. The very thought made his bollocks tighten.
Hermione wanted to try something new, something she knew that would push Draco over the edge. Carefully lining her body up with the pole, she quickly conjured a piece of green rope and wrapped it around her wrist. Then she hopped up and grabbed the pole towards the top. She brought her legs to straddle the pole and flipped over. Then she quickly took the end of the rope and laced it around her thighs so they were attached to her wrist. Bound in place, her muscles strained from the pull and silently thanking her strength, she took the rope and flipped it over her torso, ending with a few wraps around her shoulder.
Draco couldn’t believe his eyes. She’d managed to tie herself asymmetrically and she looked absolutely beautiful. Every muscle was held taut and the ropes framed them beautifully. It knocked the breath out of him and caused his arm to twitch, jerking against his cock just the right way. It was too much sensation at once and he went over, crying out in bliss as his cock spurted over his hand and abdomen.
The feelings traveled down the bond to Hermione, who felt her tense muscles freeze before pleasure flooded her body. It was unlike anything she’d ever experienced before, her senses going haywire from her sudden climax. Holding out until they lost all their strength, she collapsed, sliding down the pole rather quickly. Before she could scream or try to catch herself, Draco had her in his arms, vanishing the ropes and carrying her to bed.
“You okay?” He asked softly.
She smiled at him. “You were beautiful.”
He blushed, caught off guard by the comment and slightly embarrassed that he’d lost control so suddenly. She didn’t let him linger on that thought for long, snuggling into his chest and sighing softly. A smile crossed his face before he slung his arms around her and settled in the bed.
It was a long time of blissful silence before Hermione couldn’t help but speak her mind. “What are we going to do Draco?”
He sighed. “The best we can love. The best we can.”
AN: Hey guys, did ya miss me? Gosh, this chapter took me the ENTIRE break to write. Well, not all of it. There was a week there I laid in bed dying from the flu, but still, it took forever and it's still short. However, someone wanted pole dancing and I just couldn't come up with a reason why not so there ya go. I'll try beating out the next chapter soon. As always, thanks to everyone who has stuck with me. Your reviews are awesome and I enjoy each and every one. Until next time...love you guys!
