Last Time:
Dumbledore smirked and sipped on the last of the potion in his glass, “I can start that potion, but it will take awhile. Now while I make a fresh batch of Poly Juice potion let’s chat about how to kill Julian in the third round.”

Julian grinned as he collected a few textbooks and put them in his bag, which sat on the floor near Tom’s chair, “So she’s coming too? Oh, is this because the next task is under water?” He asked when Brian came into the room to take Julian and other students to Hogwarts for round 2 of the Tri-wizard tournament.
“Yes. She’s helping with setting things up.” Brian said noticed Tom studying in the herbology classroom while Kathy was getting some trimmings and other things to go through before ending the tutoring session with Tom. “It’ll be the same as last time, but for the third round Grizzlegore might come here since Kathy will be helping in the third round.”
“Might?” Tom frowned in concern as he put his textbook aside. “Do you think he won’t be stopped today?” He asked and even the coils of his sweet basilisk familiar wrapping around him didn’t comfort him.
“It’s just a precaution. Right, dad?” Julian asked, trying to make Tom feel better. He looked at his dad’s aura and hoped to see the usual calm, but even his dad was nervous.
Brian nodded, “No one is going to take any chances. We hope it will end today, but even I’m not sure which way it’ll go.”
‘He will be ended.’ Opal hissed as she nuzzled Tom’s neck.
The headmaster smiled, “Everybody is going to do everything to stop Dumbledore including Julian.”
Julian nodded, “I’ll keep an eye on Dumbledore during the tournament.”
“That’s good … be careful.” Tom said nervously.
“You shouldn’t worry. Let them focus on helping the minister.” Kathy said as she carried a ball of sap over to the table where Tom was sitting at. “We will focus on studying.”
Tom nodded and Opal slithered off his lap so he could work, “Ok …”
“We’ll tell you what happens.” Julian promised and smiled at Tom before picking up his book bag, which had a built-in feather light spell so he could easily carry all the books he intended to show Cedric.
“Bye.” Tom said and waved to Brian and Julian, who left to join the rest of the Legerdemain students so they could all go to the Tri-wizard tournament. “I hope everything goes well.” He said, truly wishing that Dumbledore could just be arrested and the whereabouts of Rita dragged out of him with Veritaserum.
Unfortunately, Dumbledore’s mind was strong so perhaps he could resist the truth coaxing potion. Some time with dementors would weaken that resistance, but would Rita last that long? Everyone was also well aware that the wizard had no problem killing. There’s always a possibility that he might have a curse on her that could immediately kill Rita if Dumbledore and he would use that to avoid getting arrested. The only way to know for sure was to find Rita first. Once she is safe and they can confirm that she has no curses on her, or remove the curses if she did, then Dumbledore can be dealt with. For now Tom could only hope and do everything he can to focus on the last hour or so of tutoring before Grizzlegore arrives …

Cedric eagerly hurried to breakfast and was the first person at the Hufflepuff table. As the Great Hall filled up he noticed an odd tense feeling. It wasn’t coming from everyone. Just Julian, Severus, Brian and the minister. Not that it was obvious though. In fact, if Cedric wasn’t already curious about some of the odd things he had noticed he probably would’ve missed the looks passing between Severus, Julian, Brian and the minister. It was like they were waiting for something, but what?
Once everyone heard a distinctive set of heels clacking across the stone floor a clue was discovered. It was in the way Julian looked at the older wizards when Rita Skeeter entered the room. Julian actually nodded ever so slightly and suddenly all that tension seemed to disappear. At least, that’s what it looked like. Maybe they were just waiting for her to join, but Cedric still felt like something else was going on.
“Today is the second round of the Tri-wizard tournament!” Severus announced and waited a few moments for the excited cheers to settle down before continuing. “This time we will all be headed for the new dock after breakfast and the people at Fly High News provided some underwear cameras so everyone can see what happens under the water.” Everyone spotted the one crystal butterfly, which was perched on the staff table as if waiting for everything to start, and eagerly hoped more were waiting at the dock. “Since everyone should be well prepared for this round it will start an hour after breakfast. Now everyone, eat up.”
Even with his stomach grumbling because of the yummy array of food Cedric couldn’t tear his curious eyes away from Julian. Maybe he hoped to get another clue if he kept watching. However, after a couple minutes all he saw was Julian reaching down to pick up something. He couldn’t resist raising himself off his chair a little, but was disappointed to see that Julian was just putting the book bag at his feet upright. It probably just flopped over. Without any obvious clues popping up Cedric just ate breakfast and planned to talk to Julian later.
Finally, the meal finished and Cedric immediately left his table the second he saw that Julian had finished eating and was going to leave the room, “Hi, Julian! What’s happening this time?” He asked curiously and he noticed two things. One was that Julian occasionally glanced at Rita and the tiny occamy in the blonde hair seemed to never lose sight of the reporter. The second thing was that Draco Malfoy also seemed to subtly glare at Rita!
Julian looked at Cedric, though Tanzania kept watching Rita, and smiled, “Hey, Cedric! I have some textbooks if you want to look at them!”
“Really?” Cedric exclaimed and in his excitement he momentarily forgot about the weird things going on in favor of doing a little learning. To his surprise an annoyed Draco and his furry familiar insisted on joining the study group. “Hi-“
“You’re lucky you were the only one who had any sense of fair play.” Draco huffed as they settled on a dry spot close to the dock so they wouldn’t miss a second of the tournament.
Julian sighed as he sat down, “Draco, we really need to discuss the jealousy thing.” He teased though he knew Draco was being harsh because he was on edge about everything going on behind the scenes.
Cedric blinked in confusion, but when he saw Draco’s face turn bright red he couldn’t help but laugh, “Well Julian is cute. Maybe we should both date him when we’re older.” He commented to tease Draco though he admittedly liked the sound of Julian’s laugh.
“Seriously? A family of four might be too complicated.” Draco murmured, a little annoyed at being flustered so easily and Sasha wasn’t helping by mentally sending him images of the possible future ‘pack and puppies’ as she put it.
“Four?” Cedric pondered when he pondered how that number came up.
The blonde green eyed wizard chuckled, “Tom will be so happy that you included him!”
Draco blushed and dragged out a textbook, “Maybe we should focus on studying.” He muttered clearly wanting a change of topic.
With the books finally being removed from the confines of the book bag Cedric realized he was missing a lot, “Wow … just wow! You’re already learning this stuff? No wonder you weren’t worried about dragons.”
“Yep! Actually that bubble spell is the first level to all these powerful shield spells. It’s helpful with learning light spells. The ability to transfer your image from bubble to bubble is why it’s taught as a safety spell. A great way to distract a lot of creatures.” Julian explained and showed some pictures in the textbook.
Cedric looked fascinated, “Cool.” He said and he chatted with the pair. They kept switching back and forth between school related topics and their own lives. Before they knew it there was some commotion that made them look up. “Has it been an hour already?” He wondered as he noticed everyone was filing into the bleachers that were built into the shore next to the dock.
“Guess so. You go get our seats. I should at least stand with Sally until it starts!” Julian exclaimed as he went onto the dock where the swimsuit clad competitors were gathering.
It just so happens the dock had the best view of the entire strip of the bleachers. When Cedric saw Julian’s eyes flicker towards someone he saw the occamy grow a little larger and wrapped firmly around Julian’s neck. The protective gesture suddenly made Cedric curious and he leaned over to look at who it was. Unfortunately, the long bleachers packed with people made it difficult. It wasn’t until he saw a crystal butterfly fly by and the image of Rita and the minister appeared on the 4 floating screens that he recalled the subject he wanted to talk about before. Cedric resisted the urge to smack himself for forgetting and waited for Julian to return.

All of Hogsmeade was quietly evacuated. The only people strolling passed the dark windows of Hogs Head Inn were Aurors dressed in normal garb. However, hidden in those everyday clothes were very official badges and the second those badges started buzzing everything changed.
“He’s at Hogwarts. Get moving!” Auror Duet ordered and instantly multiple teams of Aurors and Gringotts curse breakers swarmed the area.
It took just under an hour to chip away at the protective runes. Despite breaking through they all moved carefully with the curse breakers in the lead to look for any traps. The first discovery was a body on the floor.
Of course, after first finding out that Dumbledore was hiding here the goblins did some research. It was immediately presumed that the withered dead body was the owner of Hogs Head Inn, which was actually Dumbledore’s brother. Many were surprised that their target even had a sibling, but then the two were clearly not close. At least, not close enough to keep alive.
“Don’t touch anything that doesn’t need to be moved.” Auror Duet, who was in charge, ordered.
No one wanted to take any chances. If moving anything like the body would tip off Dumbledore then it wasn’t worth it. Everyone respectfully moved around the corpse and continued through the inn. One by one each room was searched and soon they found the real Rita.
One Auror followed a curse breaker into a room and saw a familiar woman tied to a bed, “Ms. Rita Skeeter. It’s alright-“
“Hurry up and get me out of here! He’ll be back soon! That asshole is planning to replace me and kill some people!” Rita screamed and struggled violently until the curse breaker finished and rushed over to carefully break the runes on the ropes that restrained her.
Auror Duet walked into the room, “We know exactly where he is, Ms. Skeeter. You’re going to be taken to safety and checked out in the ministry. If you could please give the Auror as much information as possible.” He said and once the curse breaker freed her the other Auror in the room immediately took her out of there. “Hostage is safe … now to catch Dumbledore.”
“Auror Duet, we found his potion setup. It’s possible he brewed an explosive. There’s a few things suggesting it including the scraps of ingredients, but there’s no vials filled with it.” Another Auror reported.
“He could be carrying some with him.” Auror Duet commented when he remembered that Dumbledore always carried a purse, which he kept the things for his Poly Juice drink. “Clear the rest of the inn while-“ he was interrupted by the very Auror he had escort Rita to the ministry suddenly apparated back and ran up to him. “Did you get any information?”
“Yes, Auror Duet. Dumbledore is definitely carrying an explosive, but he’s letting it mature for a more painful result. His target is Julian during the third round of the tournament. Afterwards he intended to permanently switch places with Rita. She’s also clean of any spells. No curses were found, but there might’ve been some until he decided he wanted to become Rita for good. In which case he probably removed them himself.” The Auror reported.
“Everyone! Make sure nothing is out of place. We must ambush him immediately!” Auror Duet called out as he sent a message to the minister’s badge.

The minister smiled at the crystal butterfly that flew over and projected his image on the screens with Rita who was right next to him, “Today we see who will win the second round of the tournament! As everyone can see this task will be under the water and the cameras can be seen in the water.”
Once he said that 7 translucent fish leapt out of the water under the dock before disappearing under the surface again. Thanks to the crystal butterflies flying over the surface of the water everyone was able to see a close up of the crystal fish in the water. Each fish was a clear crystal like their fluttering counterparts and the crystal fish had a set of long wing-like fins moving its long skinny body.
“This task is a race and hunt! Our competitors will have 30 minutes to collect these.” Cornelius said as he held up a glowing white squid swimming in a glass trophy. “Each golem squid has a certain color that equals points. Red squids equal 10 points. Yellow is 20. Green is 30. The rainbow squid is 50! There are plenty of squids so you don’t need to fight each other. You’ll have plenty of obstacles to challenge you. The one who collects the most points at the end of the time limit is the winner.” He said and he reached down for his leather bag. He unlatched the sturdy bag as the crystal butterfly handed out some small charmed fabric bags to the competitors and gave Rita the same bell as before.
Rita prepared to pose like before, but refused to pull the trigger until the butterfly came back. After all, she wanted to see herself on screen. The competitors, except for Julian, were already bent over and very focused on the water so the only competitor that saw what happened was Julian.
Rita smirked as the crystal butterfly came close, “About time.” She said as she struck a pose and got ready to see herself on the screens.
However, someone was getting impatient. A rush of water gurgled and Rita looked to see what was making the sound in the water just under the very bell she was holding. To the onlookers' shock a massive crocodile lunged out of the water and snapped its powerful jaws at the perfect moment that it hit the bell effectively starting the race.
“Oh Merlin!” Rita shrieked and dropped the bell device in the water as she scrambled away.
Brian chuckled, “Gloria! Over here!” He called out and to the audience’s shock the beast strolled onto the shore. The only people who didn’t notice the terrifying incident were the 7 competitors who were already in the water. Julian’s laughter was the only thing that clued everyone into the lack of danger. “I’m sorry about that. My familiar is very sweet, but she can be impatient.”
‘You know that’s not true.’ The crocodile hissed to her wizard in amusement.
“I know.” Brian chuckled knowing full well that Gloria wanted nothing more than to scare Dumbledore who was cowering behind the minister
Cornelius chuckled, “It’s quite alright. I’m thankful for her assistance with clearing the underwater course and removing some of the worst dangers.” He said gratefully and smiled innocently at Rita. “Are you alright, Rita?” He asked as everyone calmed down and focused on the competitors on the screens. The underwater cameras were doing an excellent job staying on the trails of each competitor.
“Oh, yes. I was just startled.” Rita said pleasantly and smiled as she straightened her clothes, but her smile was clearly strained. “Why did you use golem squids and not just make them retrieve other students?” She asked supposedly for the newspaper.
The minister shrugged casually, “I’m sure there’s always some students that professors would secretly love to knock out with a spell and put under the water as bait for a game they aren’t even competing in, but legally there would be a few issues with that.” Cornelius said casually despite knowing damn well that Dumbledore would’ve done something that risky.

“What the-“ Cedric gasped as he watched the massive crocodile on screen.
Draco, just like the other Legerdemain students, got over the surprise appearance of Gloria rather quickly and shrugged. “I guess it makes sense she’d be here.” He commented and heard Julian laughing. “I wish the other competitors saw that. It would’ve been hilarious.”
Once he realized that the competitors dove into the water Cedric saw Julian come towards him and Draco’s spot in the bleachers, “Is there something going on? There’s a reason you seem so … concerned about Rita-“ Cedric immediately shut up once Draco and Julian shushed him. Even the boys’ familiars growled as if to tell him to be quiet.
Julian sighed and leaned in to Cedric while casting a spell so no one heard them, “Yes, but now is not the time.” He said and sat down next to the confused Cedric and a suddenly concerned Draco.
It was by no means a direct answer, but it was enough for Cedric to know that it was not something that could be discussed so for now he was satisfied. Still there was an ominous feeling he couldn’t shake as he watched the underwater task. Whatever was happening behind the scenes was possibly quite dangerous. However, it wasn’t enough to keep his attention from being taken by the tournament.
Jaws dropped as Sally’s body glowed slightly deep under the water and the cute bathing suit actually gave her fins. With a bubble firmly around her mouth she swam deeper in the water with the loop of the charmed bag around her neck. Despite not turning into sharks or using other methods like her fellow competitors she moved just as fast.
“How is her suit doing that?” Cedric exclaimed as he watched Sally zip past the Durmstrang team and grab a blue squid.
Draco’s eyes narrowed curiously, “She seems to be using her magic to control the currents. Is she in the swimming class?”
Julian nodded, “Yep. She’s two years behind you since you jumped to an advanced class.”
“Ah. So the suit has training fins.” Draco mused right before becoming tense. “I saw a rainbow squid!”
Cedric gasped when he spotted it too, “Come on, Sally!” He exclaimed even though there’s no way the girl could hear him.
Draco smirked, “She saw it! … this is far more exciting than it has any right to be.” He muttered though that didn’t stop him from cheering when Sally found the rainbow squid and started chasing it. She managed to grab it putting her firmly in the lead.
However, the other teams were doing pretty good this time around and the squids were fast. It would’ve been a benefit to be on a team to round up those squids, but Sally was proving that she was doing just fine. The young girl was also showing off another use of the bubble spell.
If there’s a squid just out of reach for her a bubble would shoot out of Sally’s hand giving her an extra 6 feet to her reach. It was easy to grab them if she aimed right and the bubbles would go back to her. With the bubbles dragging the squids to her bag Sally was doing wonderfully.
Julian smiled when the tournament ended and Sally was declared the winner by 40 points, “That went well!”
“No kidding! That was bloody brilliant!” Cedric exclaimed, but his excitement suddenly dwindled when he saw Brian immediately take the Legerdemain students home not long after Sally was given the white squid the minister had earlier as a prize. It seemed very fast even if there was no reason to stay, but why leave Julian and Draco behind? “Is there a reason your father- …” Cedric let his sentence drop. With the bleachers clearing out it became easier to see all the way across. That’s when he saw the minister pick up his bag without bothering to get the submerged bell device. He also noticed that Rita was already walking into the castle and therefore didn’t see the minister quickly portkey away.
Julian bolted for the castle right before Tanzanite grew big enough to carry him, “I need to check something.” He called back. Both Draco and Cedric ran after Julian and found him touching the stone wall with a tense tiny occamy in his hair.
“Has he left?” Cedric was so startled by the voice that he jumped and turned to see Severus with a serious look on his face.
“Not yet.” Julian said, clearly being told something through the stones of Hogwarts. Cedric could tell something was going on and waited to see what that was. “He went through the floo.
Severus sighed, “Good.” He said and suddenly Brian returned. “He just went through the floo.”
Brian nodded, “We should hear something soon.” He said and after a couple moments his cellphone rang. When he looked at the message he received his eyes widened in shock …
