Adrian immediately looked at Lily who was waiting for his command. Astoria gasped when she heard Draco's name. She looked at Adrian pleading him silently to not tell Draco about her. Adrian looked back at her pained that she still did not trust him fuly to know that he would never hurt her. He took a deep breath and replied, " Lily, go and make him comfortable in the library. Also do not tell him that Astoria is here if he asks. I wil be with him in a moment, also get me a sobering potion before you go." Lily nodded and snapped her hands and a potion vial appeared. Adrian took it from her hands and gulped it down in one go. He swayed for a moment as the potion worked its way through his system. After a few minutes he felt normal. Astoria sat on the chair nearby clasping her hands in worry. Adrianput jis hand on her head as he took a step to leave, " Dont worry. You are safe here. Nobody can harm you as long as I live." Astoria looked at him withntears in her eyes. She knew she did not deserve his loyalty. She stared at his back as he left to meet Draco after righting his clothes and refreshing his face a bit.
Draco sat in the centuries old Library waiting for Adrian. He did not know if Hermione's plan would work or not but he needed to find Astoria soon. This seemed to be the only way as he had searched for her every where. He heard footsteps before he saw Adrian walk in to the huge room. He was wearing black robes with black trousers and a white shirt. He smiled at Draco and showed surprise a little too late. Draco's instinct told him he was right to come here. They shook hands and Draco thanked him for seeing him. They both sat opposite each other looking at each other and assessing the other's feelings.
Adrian smiled and spoke, "Well Draco, what brings you here? We have never been friends in school, just team mates I guess. So how can I help you?"
Draco smiled right back and replied, "Yes, Adrian sadly we have never been more than team mates but I have come here with great hope and if you can help me then it will solve a lot of problems in my life. I know that the last time I saw you was at my wedding. You were there but we never spoke that day. I am going to tell you something very personal and something that could every well destroy my family name if it gets out. So risking everything that is precious to me I want you to know that I have come here looking for my legal wife Astoria. She has been missing for months now. I have searched for her every where but have failed. I spoke with Pansy who told me that you both were best friends when you were kids. So I have come here hoping that she might be here but judging the way you greeted me I know that she hasnt been here. However I cannot give up hope so I am leaving this letter with you. If Astoria comes to you could you please give her the letter? It is very important that she reads it. I need to tell her a few things that have happened since she disappeared. These are very important facts that she needs to know. If she does not come here then simply incenerate it but please wait a few weeks. This letter is sealed for Astoria which means that only she can open it with a drop of her blood. Can you help me Adrian? "
Adrian looked at Draco surprised at his behaviour. He had expected Draco to be haughty like he was in school, an entitled prick but instead he was begging him to help locate Astoria. Could it be that Astoria was seeing things wrong? Were the Malfoys really that cruel? He could not decide right away so he simply nodded and took the letter from him. He offered Draco tea and poured a cup for himself. He promised to give it to Astoria if he met her anytime.
Draco eyed Adrian and saw that time had been kind to him but his eyes told him that he had held great pain inside like Draco had for years. He had suffered much. He decided to talk a little about Astoria, " She was fine a few months ago but then something happened that probably made her feel very much hurt. You might known that we havent been able to get pregnant all these years and Astoria was very supportive during those years. We were never good friends, not even a good couple. Even after twenty years it still feels like we are simply two people who are in the same boat. We survived. Thats it...simply survived till now. After the war we fought to bring normalcy back into our lives. But we forgot that nothing would ever be the same again for us especially given how much we lost during and after the war. Astoria must have never trusted me because recently I came to know that she was very much in love with a boy name David Brewall. I never knew that and so I simply assumed that she had not been affected much by his death. I was wrong. She is hurting Adrian and she might have reason to hate my family for it. I just dont know what to do anymore. If she ever comes to you could you please let me know and if possible assure her that nobody wants to see her hurt."
Adrian drank the last of his tea and nodded, "I will tell her everything that you have told me. And Draco, thank you for trusting me with your secret. I can undertsand your position. Have no fear, your secret is safe with me."
Draco smiled and said, "I am sorry I never got the chance to meet you. Astoria never said anything about you. Maybe she never felt close enough. I was too busy repairing the family name to pay attention to her. Her running away might be my fault too. Maybe if she had a friend like you she might have chosen a different path."
Adrian smiled and replied, "I dont think Astoria wanted me in her life. She was busy rebuilding it."
Draco nodded, "Like so many of us. Pansy told me that you were close friends. If I had ever loved Astoria I might be lealous right now but I am not. I am just relieved that if she comes to you I know you will keep her safe. Just let me know okay? I am really getting worried about her."
Adrian nodded and they shook hands. Draco left Adrian and apparated to the Malfoy Manor once they were outside his house.
Adrian went back into his manor only to find Astoria looking at him nervously. He smiled and told her what happened. Astoria sniffed and told him to not get trapped into their nice mannered talk. They were evil people who killed innocents during and after the war. Lucius Malfoy deserved every pain that he got from his son. Adrian sighed and gave her the letter Draco had left in his hands. Astoria took the letter with caution. She had to prick her finger to let a drop of her blood fall on the seal. The letter opened and out fell several papers and a legal document. Astoria read the document first and crumpled it in anger. Adrian was curious and picked it up. He smoothened the document and read that it was an application for mutual divorce. He looked puzzled at Astoria who was busy reading the letter Draco had written to her.
