A frown appeared suddenly. "I've been...off, for a few sectons {weeks}, and I have no idea why." He told Desmond as he looked up into his blue eyes. "You mentioned empathy. Could THAT have been why I was sent to Saggitara?"
"It would be a part of the reason," he answered slowly, "and as sorry as I am to say this, it would probably be better if we waited for Ethan to explain about this. I'm going to call him as soon as I get back to my office. He needs to be made aware of what is happening. I think the sealed bindings that were placed on your gifts are beginning to slip. If you keep leaking like this there are going to be some very big problems, and not just for you. It really is a good thing that Severus, Kili, and Tyler have left the building, or they would have been in here too."
"Seals? Bindings?" he asked, looking away from Desmond to Harry, seeing that his brother had gone very pale, his emerald eyes dimmed by haunting memories he had no wish to remember. Memories of when his beloved brother had be-- "Harry?" he asked, reaching out to lay a hand on his arm.
Harry's expression cleared a bit as he looked at him, saying, "When you were ten something...happened. What it was, no one knew, because no one, not even I had noticed that there had been anything wrong. One night, you just...slipped into a comatose state that I, nor anyone else could wake you from. It had been decided, for your protection, to bind, and place magical seals on your psychic gifts while you were still in the coma. The only gift they left free rein on was your telepathy, and only because you had better control over it than most at your age."
He paused then, shaking his head as Roark opened his mouth. "WE honestly had no idea, Rory. Once we got you back home to Caprica, you just...woke up. They tried to question you as to what had happened, but you got so upset about it, telling them you didn't remember...that you had no idea what had happened. That was when they realized that you had no memory of Saggitara at all except that you had been there."
"In the conference room...I heard you," he looked back to Desmond. "You were trying to calm me down, but...different. There was something different."
"That's because it wasn't me, it was Tyler. His empathy is more on par with Kili's and a few of the others, and yes, he was trying to calm you. You were about to blow every light in the place, AND give everyone a raging migraine." A sudden smirk twisted his lips. "Then, of course, there was the chance you could have set the building on fire."
A frown. "Why is my magic so out of control all of a sudden?" he asked. "I don't understand what's happening to me. My magic has NEVER been this out of control before."
"I know, and I'm truly sorry that I have no answers for you," Desmond said with a deep look of regret. "I'm just not the person who can explain this best."
"Can't you give me something? ANYTHING?"
He looked thoughtful. "Alright, I can give you this much, though I'm sure it won't be much help. Even at ten yahren {year} old, you had some very strong gifts aside from the magic you were showing, some of which don't make an appearance until you're much older, but for some unknown reason, ALL of your gifts awakened early, and all at once. Some of those gifts Harry hasn't got, and therefore can't really understand how to help you deal with them as much as I know he wants to--"
"Damn straight I do, and knowing that I can't is driving me up a wall," he snapped.
"As he said, something happened on Saggitara, something bad enough that you began to pull away from everyone trying to help you understand those gifts."
"We were sharing a room. I knew that something was bothering you, but every time I or anyone else asked you about it, you would smile and tell us you were fine, just very tired. We took you at your word, and left you alone like you so clearly wanted us to. One morning, I woke early as I knew we both had early classes, only...when tried to wake you as I did every morning, you wouldn't wake...never even moved. I panicked and ran for Ethan, and our instructor's. The rest...well."
"They bound my gifts, sealed them."
"Yes. Now you are older, and I'm betting those very same gifts, already strong to begin with, are now stronger...and those seals and bindings are beginning to fail under the pressure of keeping them contained."
Desmond nodded. "That too would be my guess. When you get upset...angry, the leakage becomes much more pronounced. You fury, little one, is a very potent thing and tends to take on a life all its own once you've allowed it to build so far."
"Fuck," he breathed, running a hand through his hair. "Only me." He sighed then, looking up at him. "Okay then, what do I need to do to keep this from happening again?"
"For now, just try to remain calm. Don't let your anger build into such a black fury that you lose control. If your magic keeps slipping like this, something will need to be done about that as well. Talk to Harry instead of keeping it inside, and if THAT doesn't help, go find Severus, I'm sure he'll be able to give you something--" he saw the look in Roark's eyes. "I know. You don't like the idea of that, but until we can get Ethan and Rohan here, you may need something. If this keeps up, you could end up hurting someone without meaning too."
"Something I don't want to do. Thanks, Des," he said giving him a hug.
He hugged him back. "You're welcome. Now," he stepped back, looking at him closely. "Will you be alright?"
"I'll be fine. Harry's here, and now that he's aware that it could happen, he won't let me build myself into such fury again. Go on. Go call Ethan, then you can return to whatever it was you were working on."
"Yes, Sir," he said with a salute, then turned and left the office.

As soon as he reached the office he'd been given, he moved quickly behind his desk, placing the call before he'd even sat down. He was just getting comfortable in his chair when his screen lit, and as soon as he saw the face looking back at him, he frowned deeply.
"Desmond. What's wrong?"
"Sorry to bother you, Ethan--"
"Stop that. You're not bothering me. None of you could ever bother me. Now, tell me what has you so upset?"
"We have a big problem here."
"Okay. You're on Aquaria, aren't you? Logan?"
"Yes, and no, it isn't Logan. It's Roark. His gifts have gotten way too strong for those seals to handle anymore. They're beginning to fail beneath the pressure, and the bindings are weakening too. He's leaking severely, and his magic is being affected too."
"Affected HOW?" he demanded, sitting forward immediately. "The fact that the seals and bindings are beginning to fail is no surprise as they were never meant to hold as long as they have. But what is this about his magic?"
"When he gets angry..." he looked at his brother, worry in his eyes, his body tense. "You know how he can be. It takes a lot to get him that angry, but once he is...Today alone, he's been angry enough twice to nearly set the building on fire, and to make matters worse, Harry is beginning to be affected too."
Ethan swore sharply. "Nothing has gone boom yet, I hope?"
A soft chuckle. "Not yet, but it's been a close thing. Ardyn has seriously pissed him off, and if Harry hadn't left their office to come find me when he did..." he shook his head. "Ethan, we need you here. He's not said it in so many words, but I'd bet you everything I have he's getting scared. With no memory of what actually happened on Saggitara, he doesn't understand what's happening, and I can't explain it."
He nodded. "Understood. I'll call Dad, and see what can be done. Pay and I were almost done here anyway, but even if we can get off Taura, we may not be cleared for a couple of secton's {weeks}."
"I know. I'm going to go talk to Severus and Tyler. See if they have any ideas on how to help contain him. Just, please, Eth, get here as soon as you can."
"I'll certainly do my best. Try to keep him calm...make him talk to you...to anyone. Don't let him keep things so bottled up he explodes. If he gets too much to handle, call me immediately. Even over the comm I can talk him down."
"Understood. Love you, brother."
"Love you too," he reached out to end the call, as Desmond got to his feet and headed for his door to find Severus and Tyler.
