Epilogue
Later that night Hermione and Severus took themselves up to
the Astronomy Tower to take in some air after curfew. By mutual agreement Draco had been handed over to the care of
Madam Pomfrey and placed in a side room usually reserved for sick staff.

his wife’s head and wrapped his arms around her.
“I can see why this place is popular for late night
meetings,” said Hermione lightly.
“Anyone who sneaks up here tonight will get more than they
bargained for,” said Severus with a hint of a smile in his voice.

“I don’t know how you get over something like that.”
“It will take time.
I know my situation was not as clear cut as his but my father took my
mother apart piece by piece. I didn’t
truly recover until I found marital love for myself, firstly with Olivia and
now with you. Love makes a person whole
and Draco is too old now for substitute parents. Time will calm him and then hopefully he will find a young woman
with the heart to love him.”
“I hope he makes it.”
“As do I. If I can
though it’s possible for him to do likewise.
I wonder what the Prophecy said.
I suppose we’ll never know.”
“Do you really need to know?”
“I suppose not. It’s
just that your power has increased so much…all the pregnancies… it would be
nice to know what’s happening… being as it’s all happening around us and we
haven’t got a clue. Whatever it is
Malfoy wanted to steal it. All that
bribery and planning and he drove you right into my arms.”
“And into your bed.
You have a wife who loves you.
Isn’t that enough?”
“It’s enough. I’m
wondering if I might chance my arm and push for a demonstration of that love.”
“Here and now?”
“Here and now. I
warded the doors at the base of the tower.
I would never risk your dignity.
I will not push you any harder than this.”
“I love you. If you
tell me it’s safe then it’s safe.
Perhaps you will let down my hair as a beginning?”
“I will indeed…

“I have no complaint.
