Watching Harry walk into the dining room, rubbing his head, Lucius asked, completely amused, “And what did you bang your head on this time?” Since the day before, Harry had managed that more than once as he wasn't used to his height yet.
Sitting down, letting Kaliya slither off his shoulders then onto the stool by him, Harry groused, “A couple of things. First was in the shower when I smacked it good on the shower head. Then I was coming around the corner and misjudged the height of one of those decorative candle holders. Yeah, it's going to take some getting used to this.”Snorting, sitting his cup of tea down, Severus said, smirking in an amused way, “It'll take time, Harry. Give it a few days and you should be better able to judge.”“I'll have the elves raise your shower head and a few other things to stave off more issues,” Lucius told him, still amused. “Not something we thought of, but it'll help.”Grinning a little after downing the potions he had to take and starting to eat, Harry said, “Kaliya is learning to duck very well too. If not, he's going to get himself smacked in the head, too.”“Oh so very true, Harry,” the snake said with a hissy laugh. “You are rather dangerous to ride around with now, so one does have to be wary. Never fear, I'll manage without getting concussed.”Taking a couple bites of his breakfast, Harry asked, looking around, “What are we doing today? You said there was something.”“We're going to work more on the Mark and the word under it,” Lucius told him, settling back in his chair with his tea. “Then Black and Lupin are coming over to play the game we promised. There are a couple of things we're going to work with when it comes to them, but nothing overly stressful.”Nodding at that, Harry said, “Remind me to smack a couple of Bludgers at Sirius for the neon colored undies he bought me. I can handle the dancing creatures on them, but the eye bleeding colors are nasty. I absolutely refuse to wear those nightmares, even opening the drawer and looking at them is traumatizing.”“Those were foul looking,” Severus said, looking entirely amused.Eating more, then taking a sip of his milk, Harry grinned and added, “So far I've not tripped over these big feet of mine today. I imagine that's going to change before the day's out, but so far, so good! I didn't realize how much your feet could get in the way before this.”“Another thing that's just going to take time,” Lucius said with an amused snort.“True,” Harry chuckled, shaking his head.“Is your magic functioning better? Or are you still have a few issues with it channeling right?” Severus asked. They had worked with him some the day before and Harry seemed to be doing better with that part of things with it seeming to want to do what he wanted without so many issues.“That's the good part,” Harry nodded, looking at him. “It seems easier to get it to do what I want and is more apt to do it right the first time rather than taking a couple tries or doing it but going slightly wayward the way it was.”“Good,” Severus said with a pleased nod. “That means that your magic is freed up enough that it's functioning as it should. I'm going to guess that you're going to have less problems than before when it comes to the practical part of your studies. I'm also going to suggest that you use it more to practice and get it channeling just as it should. You know, the mundane things you tend to do the Muggle way still. Start doing it the magical way. Lucius and I will start teaching you some of the more household and simple charms for some of it. Not only are they good to know, but it'll give you practice with it and help.”“I can do that,” Harry told him, looking at the man.“Tomorrow I plan to set aside time to work more on your shields. If it goes like it did before this happened, you should be able to block the Horcrux completely by the end of the week. That will be an immeasurable help to all of us.”“Works for me,” Harry said, downing more of his breakfast. He was starving, that's all there was to it, and couldn't seem to get it in fast enough, though he was trying not to act like Ron when it came to food.
Sitting on the back patio after arriving, Sirius grinned as Buckbeak chased one of the peacocks after the idiot bird tried to frighten him off with a display. Shaking his head, he said, “Those birds are brain-damaged if they think they can take on a hippogriff.”
“They are moronic,” Lucius sighed, shaking his head. “First, they think they can take on a cobra and win, now it's a hippogriff. Their numbers will be decimated shortly, thankfully.”Watching Buckbeak run one of the males down, Harry shook his head, grinning, “Even Buckbeak knew not to take Kaliya on and walked off, yet those stupid birds still try.” Sirius and Remus had brought the hippogriff over with them. Buckbeak and Kaliya had a little bit of a stare-off when the hippogriff came out of the spell, but Buckbeak seemed to know what he was dealing with there so, after Sirius petted and reassured him, he had wandered off to check out his new home. He actually seemed fairly happy and even appeared to be having fun chasing the stupid birds. Looking at Lucius, Harry asked, “You have the warding up so he can't go beyond it?”“It's all there, rest assured,” Lucius nodded. “He has plenty of room to roam and there is a multitude of food sources for him to find. We'll supplement it, of course, to ensure he's properly fed, but he'll be fine.”“We know you weren't prepared for him, but we needed to get that spell down as something's come up that you're going to need it for,” Remus said softly, looking around.Brow furrowed, Severus asked, “What's that?”Pulling a sheet of parchment out, the werewolf handed it over to Severus and said, “The DMLE has a line on where Peter is. Which means, we need to step things up here to get that snake and get you out, Severus. Tonks and Kingsley passed that along to us. They've made it clear that they're going to get their hands on Peter within a couple of weeks as they have a bead on where he might be. So, Sirius and I mastered the spell you need for the snake and will teach it to you today so you can snag her when you get a chance.”“We thought that since this came from Aurors that you could pass it along soon and get a feel for what you need to do to grab her,” Sirius explained, looking at the man.Reading through what was there, Severus nodded and sighed, “Very true. Alright, while Lucius works with Harry and the Mark, you can both work with me on the spell. The peacocks are fine for test subjects.” Looking up at Buckbeak, who was wandering around getting a feel for his new home, he added, “If you two could manage to get it down this quickly, I probably shouldn't have a problem.”“It's an easy one,” Remus assured him. “I had it in two tries and used Padfoot after that. Even the first couple of attempts didn't result in anything harmful.”“We brought the bag too and made damned sure we put every spell on it we would find to help you,” Sirius told him, reaching over to pet Kaliya on the head.“I'll start carrying it with me whenever I go,” Severus assured him. “I say we have a spot of lunch, since I can hear Harry's stomach growling from here,” he said with a smirk, looking at the grinning young man, “Then we work on the spells before the game.”Grinning sheepishly, Harry shrugged, “I can't help it, I'm starving!”Snorting, Lucius shook his head, “Typical teenager. Nothing to worry about.”“And, speaking of the game, Sirius,” Harry said looking at his godfather, shooting him a glare. Seeing the man grin, he said, “Expect a couple of Bludgers coming in your direction from me for those nasty neon undies.”
“I couldn't resist,” Sirius laughed, reaching over to clap Harry on the knee. “You knew I had to do something! At least I picked you out plenty of normal ones!”“Be thankful I forced him, almost at wand-point, to put back the romantically themed ones or the others that had rather suggestive sayings on them. He was all for those,” Remus said with a smile.Shaking his head, Harry sighed, “I knew you were going to pull something. Though I like the roaring dragon slippers that blow smoke as you walk. Those are great!”“Yeah, couldn't resist those either,” Sirius told him with a laugh. “Had to get you something good there.”“You're deranged, Black,” Severus said, shaking his head.
Looking up at the Dark Mark with the word traitor under it that hung over the pool, Harry canceled the spell then cast it again, grinning when it worked perfectly. “I got it,” he told Lucius with a grin. “And it sure was a lot easier this time.”
Pleased with what he was seeing, Lucius nodded. “It's perfect too. Well done, Harry.” Looking at the young man, he said, “I think between your magic being freed up almost completely and the fact that what was going on ending, negated the problem you were having. Now, we won't have a problem when it comes time for you to cast it.” Quickly, he cast a spell to determine the magical signature on the Mark and was happy to see that it wasn't even in the neighborhood of what Harry's used to be. “Good. There is no chance of this being traced back to you. They won't be able to figure out who cast it, something that helps us and will confuse them, but it won't cause a problem as they'll just assume someone, somewhere, used a throw-away wand to do it.”“Good job, Harry,” Sirius said, clapping him on the back as he looked up at the Mark. Glancing at Lucius, he said, “We're using McNair as a patsy, aren't we?”“One of them, yes,” Lucius nodded, canceling the Mark. “Why?”“He used to have almost a love affair with Fiendfyre, if I remember right.” Sirius commented.“He still does,” Lucius said with a sneer and shake of his head. “It's one of his favorite spells.”“I think you should teach that one to Harry as well so we look authentic. With you and Severus around, the two you should be able to control it. Neither Remus nor I could ever get that one down and keep it under control. With the power Harry has, he should be able to for a short time, at least long enough to make it look good for what we need.” Sirius explained.Thinking that over, Lucius gave a slow nod. “Yes, good idea. He should be able to control it. If he can't, you, Lupin and Severus can. We'll work on that over the next couple of days. I want something up and in place for protection before we even attempt it so if it does go pear-shaped, we're not in danger.”“What's Fiendfyre?” Harry asked, looking between the two, curious.Quickly explaining what it was, Lucius said, “It's dangerous to wield, that's for certain, but you should be able to control it. I just want to ensure we have something in place where we can work with you without causing a problem. And it's something Severus and I, both, are going to need to be around for to help control until you get it down. Shan't be a problem, Harry, you'll pick it up quickly and can use it.”“If we work this right, we won't have to worry about controlling it,” Sirius said, glancing down, scratching his chin. Looking at Lucius, he said, “Just before Harry hangs the Mark, he sets it off. That way when they get there, and we all know that's going to happen fast when anyone gets a glimpse of that Mark, the house will already be in flames. I doubt it'll be long enough to burn it to the ground as the DMLE is going to douse the Fiendfyre before they even try to pull the Mark down so it doesn't spread. And that's about the way most use it as well, so it'll look authentic. Plus, that shite is going to cover any trace of so much. We'll make sure there's evidence there they can find, no problem, but it'll save us having to do a big production to look good and cut down on the time we have to be there.”Pondering that, Lucius gave a firm nod, “We'll do that, yes. Good suggestion! If we work it right, we can be in and out in under five minutes. We can set up much before we have to do it as Severus is anal about no one being in his house. The evidence can be planted ahead of time, some of it, some 'damage' done already, so all we'll have to do is make it look good and be seen. That I do want to lend to the authenticity and give the DMLE and Dark Lord something to work with.”“Yeah, the less time we have to be there, the better we're all going to be so there is no chance of getting caught,” Sirius told him firmly. “We need people to see us as we go, but I don't want to be in that house any longer than we have to, especially with you and Harry around. Too much of a chance of something we can't predict happening.”Looking at Harry, Lucius smirked then said, “And this growth spurt had perfect timing! No one, anywhere, will suspect Harry as he's so much bigger now. That'll only help. The descriptions of some may be off when they talk to witnesses, but that won't bother us. No, this is good.”Listening in, Harry laughed when his stomach grumbled. Snickering, he shook his head then asked, “Can we get a snack before we do anything else?”Shaking his head, Lucius chuckled, “We can.” Glancing over to where Severus and Lupin were, seeing them revive one of the peacocks, he added, “We should be about done anyway. A rest before the game will do us good.”Clapping Harry on the back, Sirius laughed then began to guide him towards the patio, “You are going to eat both of them out of house and home.”“I can't help it,” Harry said sheepishly with a shrug. “I'm hungry!”Snorting in amusement, Lucius trailed along.
Looking around, Severus was somewhat pleased with this turn of events. The summons, of course, had him on edge as he never knew what brought those on and how bad it might get, but the fact that there were plenty here coupled with how he knew that spell for animals now, meant he might be able to work with something when it came to the situation. He wasn't sure about that, but would wait to see what presented itself. Plus there was the fact that he had information the Dark Lord would like, thus ensuring that he wouldn't be on the receiving end of any torture, no matter what the reasoning behind the summons was. That was good.
Standing there, waiting for the call to talk to the maniac, he let out a sigh of relief. The timing for this was good in other ways. Black and Lupin were already back at Grimmauld Place for the night so he didn't have to worry about getting them there. All he, Lucius and Harry had been doing when the burn came was playing a game and talking, nothing strenuous. That was good.Paying attention to what was said, as any information he could get would be helpful in more ways than one, Severus also kept glancing around, though ensuring that he didn't appear to be doing so, to see who was here. He wasn't planning on grabbing Nagini this time as he didn't even have the most rudimentary plans in place for that, but it never hurt to be prepared if the opportunity presented itself. From what he could see, there were more of the high-ranking Death Eaters here and ones with plenty of connections. There were even a couple that he could easily pin her disappearance on if he had to as they were dimwitted enough that they would walk into anything he tried.Listening in, he was able to determine that the topics were familiar ones; finding Harry and Wormtail. Good. It wasn't going to be some of the more off the wall junk that sometimes came up anymore. Paying closer attention while also keeping an eye on what Nagini was doing, he gave an internal sigh. As normal, she was sticking close to the Dark Lord and not moving much. Unless he could get her alone somewhere, he had no chance of taking her. That meant, he wasn't going to try unless he had a golden opportunity to do so without getting caught. As the topic of the DMLE and Pettigrew came up, he cleared his throat when the Dark Lord made it clear he wanted to know just what the DMLE was trying there. Seeing the maniac focus on him, Severus gave a respectful bow then said, “I have some information on that, my Lord. It came into my hands today and I was planning to bring it to you tomorrow.”Motioning for Severus to come closer, Voldemort leaned back further in his chair and asked, “What do you have, Severus?”Pulling out the parchment he had been given earlier, he passed it over to the maniac then explained what it was. “I was able to get my hands on it in the guise of helping the other side. It comes from two Aurors involved in the case.” Stopping, he waited to see what happened from there. He doubted it would involve him, other than some questions, but he wanted to know what was said.Taking it, Voldemort read through it, pleased with the information, then began to question Severus about what he knew, satisfied with the answers he was given. When he was done with that, he focused on others who had more of an inside track in the Ministry to see what they could find. This was the best clue they had so far when it came to getting his hands on the traitorous rat. That pleased him.Listening in, Severus focused more on Nagini and what she was doing as the time stretched on and it became apparent that nothing being said was anything he could use. Most of it was just plans of what they might be able to do at the Ministry. As Albus had more contacts that were higher placed there, he thought the old man would be able to get better information and would pass it along than anything the Dark Lord could manage. After all, Lucius had been the big glut of information when it came to what the Dark Lord could get his hands on.About an hour later, Severus was dismissed at the same time as some others. Walking out, he kept an eye on the snake who appeared to be going somewhere with a purpose. Cocking an ear, he listened to her hissing and was able to determine that she seemed to be going to find something to eat, muttering about small rodents that made a nest in one of the rooms. Glancing around as he walked out, making sure to pay attention to where she was, he was pleased to see that many of them were exiting at the same time.Heart hammering in his chest as they reached the small room they Apparated out of, he waited until the others vanished before focusing on the snake. Clutching his wand tightly, making damned sure he had that bag in his pocket, he hissed to her, saying hello, knowing this was risky, but figuring he wouldn't have a better shot in the future.Stopping cold, the snake rounded on him, astonished.Lifting his wand, trying not to shake as he did and praying no one else would come out, he cast the spell and waited. Then he heard footsteps approaching from the other room.
