Just a reminder of what's on my profile; reviews complaining or whinging about the lack 'o sex in stories will get deleted. If you want a smut-filled romp, you need to find another story to read.
Following the directions the elf gave them after being brought to Avalon Manor, Sirius and Remus were slightly apprehensive. It was another one of those cryptic messages from Lucius about needing them, though the man did say it wasn't an emergency and Harry was fine.
Stepping into the small sitting room, they saw Harry sitting there with Kaliya draped over the back of the sofa. Both appeared to be talking to someone, though they couldn't see anyone else. Walking over, Sirius was about to ruffle his godson's hair, when he quickly backed away, stammering. “Bloody hell!” He managed to stutter out when he saw the massive snake draped around Harry.Looking over his shoulder at Sirius, Harry grinned as he petted Nagini, who was now slithering under his shirt to hide. Laughing, he said, “Nothing to worry about. She's fine.”Stepping around the sofa, shaking his head, looking at the wide-eyed Remus, who was stiff, Sirius asked, “Is that--” trailing off, he didn't say anymore as he looked at the huge snake there.“Meet Nagini,” Harry grinned at the two, trying to coax her out of his shirt where she was hiding. Stroking her gently, he said, keeping a soft tone, “It's alright, Nagini. They won't hurt you. I promise.”“I don't know them,” Nagini hissed softly, though poking her head out of Harry's shirt enough to look at the two strangers.“They are safe,” Kaliya assured her, slithering over to drape partially over Harry's shoulder, looking at her. “Quite amusing, they are. Especially Sirius. No, they are no one to fear, beautiful lady.”“They aren't,” Harry assured her, petting her head. “You need to fear Kaliya more, as he's a masher snake and finds you sexy.”Giving an amused hissy chuckle, Kaliya said, “Harry, you are ever so amusing. Nagini is a beautiful lady, though, that I will admit.”Grinning at Kaliya, he said, “Like I said, masher snake that will be hitting on her shortly.” Hearing Kaliya give another hissy chuckle, Harry looked at Sirius and Remus, both of whom were slightly pale, though had taken a seat, albeit several feet away. Laughing, he said, “She's nothing to worry about. She's a very timid, sweet girl that won't hurt you. She'd rather hide, actually.”Looking at the massive snake wrapped around Harry, Remus shook his head, still slightly wide-eyed at what he was seeing. “Severus got her, I see. Is the Horcrux still there?”“The Horcrux is gone,” Harry assured him with a firm nod. “Lucius and Severus were able to get rid of it very quickly. It was part of the reason she was so dangerous as it changed her personality. She's actually still quite frightened of Severus as he's the one that took her. And it took a day for her to even come near me. She's Lucius' girlfriend, actually. It's him she remembers well and wants to go to him when he's around as she feels safe with him. She even sleeps with him like Kaliya does with me. Just give her some time to get used to things. I promise, though, she's not at all dangerous anymore.”Eying the two strangers warily, not fully poking her head out of Harry's shirt, Nagini asked, “Where's Lucius?”“He'll be here shortly. They were just checking on a couple of things,” Harry soothed, petting her. “Kaliya is right here. You know he won't let anything happen to you.”“I won't, I assure you,” Kaliya hissed, looking at her. “Lucius wouldn't let anyone dangerous into the house. You are perfectly safe, pretty lady.”Taking in what he was seeing, Remus nodded, now understanding why they were called. Quietly, he asked, “I take it this means we're going to have to press forward, quickly, with the plan to get Severus out?”“Yeah,” Harry told him with a nod. “Severus has been summoned a couple of times recently and it wasn't pretty. The evil git knows she's gone and is looking for her. I'll wait for them to get here so Severus can explain the rest. He knows more of what's going on and what needs done than I do. They've been finalizing plans for that while they've had me work with her.” Sighing and shaking his head, he petted Nagini, then added, “She was so scared and traumatized by what went on that she pretty much just hid the first day, too frightened to come out. What she went though and had to do was so against her personality that she had problems.”“At least she's now safe,” Remus said with a tentative smile.Looking over his shoulder as he heard two people come in, Harry grinned then petted Nagini, saying, “And your boyfriend is here.” Glancing back at Lucius, he chuckled, “She's been asking for you.”Walking over, smirking, Lucius held out his arm and watched the massive snake slither up it then drape over him. Petting her head, he said, “She has good taste, so of course she was.”Taking a seat on one side of Harry, reaching out to stroke Kaliya's head, Severus looked at the two across from them as Lucius took a seat on the other side. Leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees, hands clasped, he said, “We have to press forward, now. Not only is Nagini going missing driving the Dark Lord further over the edge, in a very dangerous way, one of the people he's focusing on is one of our patsies. That will work well for us to draw suspicion away.”Understanding, Sirius nodded then asked, looking between the two, “Which one?”“McNair. He left about the same time I did that day, right before in fact. With him knowing how to handle such animals, as he does it as part of his job, the Dark Lord is focusing there. That works out quite well for what we need,” Severus explained.“It does,” Remus said with a firm nod. “When do you want to do this, Severus? That way we can make sure we get out and no one will miss us if something goes wrong ahead of time.”“In two day's time was our thought,” Lucius said, stroking Nagini's head. “Probably about two in the morning. Its midweek and late enough that no one will suspect anything so it'll take time for someone to notice, then people will be slow to react. Severus has everything moved and duplicated with as much in place as he can get when it comes to evidence. We figure that we can be in and out in under five minute's time. Once we get back here, both of you need to dump the robes then head back to Grimmauld Place so when the alarm sounds you won't be missing and questions raised. The minute Albus hears that Severus was attacked, he's going to panic and rally the troops to see what's happened.”“Gotcha! We'll get something in place there,” Sirius told them firmly. “Does Albus know what's going on with your end of the mess?”“He does,” Severus said, firmly. “I've filled him in with as much as I can, only leaving out the chunks where it deals with me knowing, so it's not a lie. He's actually planning a full Order meeting two days after we've scheduled this to fill everyone in on the turn of events and what he thinks it might mean. Which is why we want it done before that. It's going to send him scrambling to not only work on finding me, but with the loss of information on that part of things.” Lowering his voice, he said, “Be prepared for the Dark Lord to become completely unhinged and step up anything he's planning. He's already in a precarious mental state and furious. This will make it worse. Be cautious about anything you do and expect real problems. He does not deal well with things not going his way.”“We fear that what's coming is going to unleash hell the likes of the last war,” Lucius told them, looking between the two. “We're safe here, no doubt, it's the rest of you that need to start worrying.” Changing topics, he said, “Once this is tended to, we're going to press on to get rid of the Horcrux in Harry's scar. The spell worked perfectly, so we won't have a problem with that end. However, we would like both of you over here to help monitor the situation while we do that. Just to make certain someone is paying close attention for any odd signs as we do this. It was our thought that Albus is going to send almost everyone out looking for clues of some kind about Severus, especially when they find no body, that you can slip away. We're also going to have to rely more on the mirrors and map to communicate.”“Our suggestion here is that you keep both of them on you at all times,” Severus said, glancing between the two. “We're protected, we have no worries about that, but one never knows what might come up. Food isn't a problem as that's a delivery service with no one the wiser who's getting it. Other things may become problematic. We also are going to need filled in more regularly as to what is going on as I won't be around to get the information we need.”“Consider all that done,” Sirius said firmly with a nod. “We'll duplicate the mirror into something smaller that we can hide in our pockets and keep the map on us at all times. Anything else—as we get it, we'll pass it along. The same with anything you need.”Looking at Harry, Remus asked, quietly, “How bad is the removal process?”“It's not traumatizing,” Lucius assured him with a wave of his hand. “There is a little mild bleeding when the Horcrux comes out, nothing more. Harry will be anesthetized during the process and won't feel a thing. He'll probably have a slight headache and be tired afterwards, as that's what Nagini dealt with, but that's all. The effects might be more pronounced in Harry though, as his system is more complex.”“We are also going about this a different way so we need to keep a closer eye on him. With Nagini, she was under the effects of that spell. As we're using the Draught of the Living Death on him instead, it may bring about other things. We don't know. However, neither Lucius nor I are willing to chance one of the spells used for humans with this. They are far more complex and difficult to learn. Not to mention more can go wrong. As we used the draught with the growth spurt, all of us know what to keep an eye out for. Once it's removed, one of us is going to have to sit with him until he comes out of it. We thought to have both of you do that while we attend to destroying the Horcrux. Fiendfyre, as we learned with Nagini's, works quite nicely. We can control it long enough to do that task as it just takes moments.”“We can do that, too,” Sirius said with a firm nod. “In fact, I was going to insist that I be here during it anyway. More for my peace of mind than anything else.”“We're also going to have Nagini and Kaliya, both, stay in the room with him during the whole procedure and recovery, though that may unnerve you,” Severus added. “They can sense things, such as changes in body temperature and other rudimentary functions we can't, thus be able to alert us if they see an issue before we could probably detect it.”“Very good idea, Severus,” Remus nodded, pleased with that.Looking down and thinking, Sirius said, changing tracks slightly, “I have a suggestion here on the burning of the house.” Seeing Severus motion for him to go on, he pressed forward, “Those books Albus gave you. Put them on the kitchen table and we'll scorch them. Make damned sure the one that contains how to remove the Horcrux is on top so we can make sure it's almost destroyed. That way he's none the wiser that someone might have found something. It also might send both sides scrambling to find the rest of the Horcruxes. I'm sure the other side of this mess has contacts in the DMLE just like we do. When someone sees those books, it's going to end up mentioned, somewhere. That might drive Albus to looking for the rest of them, and the great insane git might panic thinking someone is onto something here. If we can even nudge them towards each other, it might set off a chain of events that can only help end this nightmare.”Glancing at Lucius, who was looking at him, Severus said with his brow furrowed, “I'm not sure if too many would connect those with the Horcrux, as it's only a small part of what's in there, but it's worth a shot, that's for certain. Even if they look up the books to see what's in them and realize all of them, of all the tomes dealing with the Dark Arts out there, contain a theme of Horcruxes, they might. It's worth a shot anyway. We'll do that. If nothing comes of it, we're out nothing as there is nothing in them that will help Albus track Harry even before we remove the Horcrux. I say we do it and hope it has that effect.”Thinking it over, Remus asked, distractedly, “Is there any way for us to leave a hint that's what you were looking up, like a note or bookmarking certain pages? It might drive the point home that's where you were focused. I don't think that would be overly suspicious, do you? As you're one that's quite thorough when it comes to research and only Albus supposedly knew what you were doing. We all know, despite what is said, what the DMLE gets is leaked, all the time. This would get out. Maybe something simple like a note in the front of one in your handwriting saying you found nothing to track a Horcrux and asking Albus if he had any more books on it. Making it look like you were getting ready to send them back or something. As he didn't send those to you through normal channels, it's doubtful he would have you return them through one.”“That may work,” Lucius said with a firm nod. “With all that's going on, you haven't had time to talk to him like you had been.”“I think we should do this. Again, it may come to naught when it deals with both sides, but it may help,” Severus said firmly, looking around. “I'll come up with something and leave them on the dining room table where Fawkes initially dropped them. It should be protected enough from the Fiendfyre that it won't get to them and we can set off some kind of slow burn on them that will almost destroy the top one, but leave the rest while scorching the rest of the room. That's somewhere I spend many nights reading, so it won't look odd to someone like Albus.”“We’re going to put together a list of how to go about this and the order we want to do it in. Severus is going to bring it to you tomorrow so you can prepare. On our end, we have it all in place. Harry has all the spells he needs down pat and can cast them perfectly. Our robes are ready to go. We'll have a time set up with a runic Portkey to get you here then we'll go to Spinners End and start. We can be in and out quickly as almost everything is set to go,” Lucius said, looking around. “I'm sure, as with everything, our timeline won't hold exact as we have no way to give this a practice run before we launch the operation, but we should hold close. Just ensure you have everything ready before you leave so we don't miss anything,” Lucius said firmly, looking between the two.“We've decided to take Nagini and Kaliya with us. They'll stay with Lucius and myself during the operation. We're going to gather some droppings from Nagini and leave them at the scene. We hope that will focus everyone somewhere else with the other evidence we have and send the Dark Lord in that direction,” Severus explained. “They can also detect people better than we can, no matter what wards we set up. We thought this best.”“Works for us,” Sirius said after a glance at Remus, who was nodding as well. “Get us the list and we'll get everything in place from there and be ready to take care of business here.”“I'll bring it over tomorrow and cover it with you,” Severus told him firmly. “I'll also bring what we've collected to add to what you have. That way it's all in one place so we don't chance forgetting anything. We'll also have everything set up and prepared ahead of time as well. So when you get here, we can go. Run through all you can tomorrow and see if there's anything you feel we need to add or change then we'll use the mirrors to go over it yet again so we are all on the same piece of parchment when it comes to what's needed here.”“Will do, Severus,” Remus told him. Looking at Nagini, who was wrapped around Lucius, her head resting on his shoulder, hissing softly, while the man petted her, he asked, smiling a little, “How did you get your hands on her?”“That was an adventure in and of itself,” Severus admitted with a smirk. “The chance presented itself and I took it. However, it was nerve-wracking, as I was almost caught. I had her stunned, but then someone else was coming along. So I had to work fast. I managed to levitate her then slipped into a small room that I think was a cloakroom type thing at some point while a couple of others left. While I waited on that, I had to get her into the bag. That wasn't something I was prepared for as it was far harder to get her in that, even stunned, than I would have thought. She's so big that it took time to get her body in and coiled to where she wasn't harmed and was completely in the bag. Then I had to get out of there with no one the wiser, as everyone thought I had left. As the meeting was ending by then, there were plenty that were leaving. What I ended up doing was slipping out, Disillusioning myself, and walking to the boundaries of the property then Apparating from there so no one thought it odd.”“Even when he got here the issues weren't over,” Lucius added with a snort and shake of his head. “We weren't ready to perform that spell yet as we had only looked over it a couple of times up to that point. So, we had to scramble to figure out how to do it and we had no way to practice beforehand either. We also weren't sure how long we could leave her under before there would be disastrous side-effects. It was rather a race against time there. Then we had nothing set up to house her in. The elves had to hurry and find a tank to put her in when we finished because we had no idea what she would be like when she came out of it. Kaliya was going to talk to her when she woke as he was in no danger of being harmed by her, but we didn't know what to expect so we prepared for the worst, what with all we knew of her.”Reaching out to stroke Nagini's head with two fingers, Harry smiled then said, “What we weren't expecting was what she was like. Though that was good. She was so scared and so timid that it wasn't like the same snake we'd seen before. Even Kaliya couldn't get her calmed down she was so frightened. All she wanted to do was hide.”“Honestly? That we could handle better than the fight we were expecting,” Severus told them leaning back. “We preferred that, actually. It just took time to calm her down was all.” Looking over at the snake that was still scared of him, he added, lips quirking slightly, “And Kaliya is most enamored of her.”“Yup, he's a masher snake,” Harry said with a grin. “And in love.”Chortling at that, Kaliya said, “You are ever so funny, Harry. What is not to like? She's a very sweet lady. It'll be nice to have the company of a serpent again, though I adore the companionship with the three of you. No, this is good. Someone as genial as her did not need to suffer that way. This is far better for her.”Grinning at that as it was translated, Sirius shook his head, “It works out well, that's all that matters.” Moving on, he began to ask about Buckbeak and how the hippogriff was doing, laughing as he heard about the ongoing battle with the peacocks, one the birds were losing, fast.
