"Alright, I'm ready to go" Ginny said as her and Hermione walked back into the common room.
"Took you long enough" Blaise joked.
"Awh did you miss me?" Ginny asked winking.
"Let me think about that" Blaise said grabbing his chin in thought. "Nope, not at all."
Ginny grabbed a pillow from the couch and whipped it at him, which he caught gracefully.
"Now, now, no need to ruin the Head Boy and Girls furniture" he said mockingly.
Ginny rolled her eyes at him.
Blaise put the pillow back down on the couch and bid his goodbyes, Ginny following suit, and the two of them left through the door.

"So, getting Dumbledore to throw a winter ball and make the Heads go together as a date, good plan" Ginny said looking at him.
"I thought so. And they don't even suspect a thing which makes it that much better."
"You should go into the matchmaking business."
Blaise chuckled. "I don't normally care much, but he's my best mate and I want what's best for him and what makes him happy, and he's too stubborn to do anything about it on his own, so here I am doing it for him."
"Still, it was a wicked plan. Did Dumbledore not want to know why you wanted to have a school ball?"
"Naturally he was curious, so I told him the situation."
"You told him Malfoy was in love with Hermione?"
"Honestly, that man doesn't miss much, and he didn't seem all that surprised when I told him. He obviously knew about the only way that the love potion spell could be broken, so naturally he figured out that Draco was in love with Hermione."
"Yeah I guess that's true, I never really thought about that."
"So, when I brought up the idea of the ball, and he asked me why I was bringing this idea to him in the first place, I told him the situation, and told him that the two of them were too stubborn to figure things out on their own and that they needed the little extra push."
"What did he say?"
"He asked me what I had in mind for the extra push. So I told him that if he suggested that the two of them go together, considering that they are Head Boy and Girl him suggesting it would make sense, so they would have no reason to question it nor think that they were being set up. I also told him that by him suggesting it, they were not likely to refuse."
"And obviously he agreed."
"He told me he was quite impressed with my plan, and was happy that I was supporting Draco and his feelings for Granger despite everything. He agreed to the ball, said it was a wonderful idea, and that he would mention it to the students after dinner and would promote house unity in hopes to get other people to go with someone of a different house also."
"I have to hand it to you, you did do a good job in coming up with this plan."
"You're not the only one who has good looks and brains" Blaise said winking at her.
xx
"You have any plans tonight?" Draco asked timidly.
"Not really" Hermione stated honestly.
"Want to come on a walk with me?" Draco asked.
"A walk" Hermione asked confused.
"Yeah. Just a walk around the grounds. Gets us out of here at least, gives us something to do."
"Ugh, sure." Hermione said.
"Cool, let's go."
Draco headed towards the door, and Hermione followed after him, anxious and nervous.
They walked together in silence, neither knowing what to say. Draco wanted to say something to her, anything, to break the silence that was between them, but he didn't want to make things even more awkward.
He breathed in a deep breath of relief as he pushed the doors open that lead outside as the crisp cool air engulfed him.
He headed outside, and heard Hermione follow behind him. Draco loved the feeling of the cool air on his skin. He wasn't often cold, having being in the dungeons for the past 6 years. The Slytherins didn't like to put on the heat to admit that one of them was actually cold, so he grew accustomed to the cold.
He walked towards the lake, which was frozen and conjured up a blanket that he placed down on the ground in front of a tree. He sat down, leaned against the tree, and looked over at Hermione who was watching him curiously.
"You can come sit you know" Draco stated.
Hermione made her way towards him and sat down beside him.
It was then that Draco realized that she was shivering.
"Are you cold?" Draco asked suddenly.
"Is it that obvious?" Hermione said trying to joke, as her teeth started chattering.
"I'm sorry I forgot that you Gryffindors aren't accustomed to the cold like we are" Draco said.
He opened his legs and patted the place in between them and said, "Come here."
"What?" Hermione said dumfounded.
"Just trust me Hermione."
Hermione got up and crawled over to the spot in between Draco's legs.
Draco conjured another blanket, which he wrapped around himself, and then he wrapped his arms around Hermione's stomach, pulling her close to him, covering her in the blanket also.
Hermione stiffened at first, but then relaxed into him. She let her head fall into the crook of his right shoulder.
Draco smiled as he looked down at her.
He leaned forward and placed a small kiss on the top of her head.
Hermione was shocked at this display of affection to say the least. She was still trying to get used to this new side of Draco. Although, she had to admit, she liked this side of him. She knew that the only reason she was so held back to the whole idea of dating again was because of her past, but she knew it was time to let go of that. And if that meant it was going to be with Draco Malfoy of all people, then so be it.
She also had to admit, that she had felt her heart flutter when Draco had leaned in and kissed her on the head, such a small act that showed so much emotion.
She told Ginny that she would give Draco a chance, so that was what she was going to do. She was going to give it her all.
Which is why she found herself turning around and looking at Draco, who was about to open his mouth and say something, but Hermione cut him off while she still had the guts, as her lips crashed onto his.
Draco was momentarily paralyzed because of shock, but got over it quickly and responded to her kiss.
When Draco didn't respond, Hermione had started to think that he boldness had been a bad idea, and had been about to pull back and apologize until Draco started responding.
He wrapped his arms around her lower back, pulling her so that she had to wrap her legs around his back, as she was now sitting in his lap.
Hermione, who was now feeling more confident and bold, ran her tongue along his bottom lip.
Draco let out a soft moan.
Hermione smiled into the kiss, and nipped his bottom lip with her teeth.
Draco growled and kissed her with a new fiery passion.
Hermione responded eagerly, having not been kissed this way by anyone before. She could feel her body heating up, and she no longer felt cold. In fact, she felt as though the two of them were in a sauna.
Because Hermione was sitting on Draco's lap, she felt when he started to stiffen in his pants. She shifted her weight, and Draco moaned at the difference in pressure.
"Sorry!" Hermione squeaked, as she pulled back embarrassed.
Draco let out a deep breath and opened his eyes. "No need to be sorry."
She could still feel him underneath her. Hermione had to try very hard not to shift her weight again. She loved the sound Draco had made when she had moved on top of him. She had been warm before, but now her body felt like it was on fire. She needed to get off of Draco before she lost control of herself completely. She was more turned on then she ever had been, and she didn't even completely understand it herself.
Draco took a moment to study Hermione and saw how flushed her face was. That, and her eyes were glossy with lust.
Hermione noticed Draco studying her, and decided now was the time to get up and move.
She slowly got up, and re-positioned herself back to their earlier stage, her sitting between his legs.
Once Draco calmed down, he wrapped his arms back around her, and pulled her against his chest.
"Where did that come from?" He asked curiously.
"I don't know" Hermione stated honestly. "I just felt a whim and went for it."
"Well, please feel free to act on these whims whenever. I for one, will not complain."
Hermione laughed quietly.
Draco smiled. He liked the sound of Hermione's laugh. It was genuine.

Hermione woke up the next morning, opening her eyes to find it brighter in her room then she recalled it ever being.
She blinked a few times until her eyes adjusted and took in her surroundings. She was confused when she took in the snow covered ground and lake. Then memories from last night flooded into her mind and she realized they must have fallen asleep outside.
She shifted slightly, trying to turn and get a better look at Draco, which was hard because he still had his arms wrapped around her tightly.
Draco felt her stir and groggily opened his eyes. A small smile appeared on his face when he saw her.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you" Hermione said softly.
"It's okay" Draco said huskily, his voice deep from sleep.
Draco rubbed his eyes then looked around.
"We fell asleep outside?" he asked.
"I guess so."
Draco stretched out his arms and legs, which were stiff from the position he fell asleep in.
Hermione stood up so he could stretch properly.
Draco stood up momentarily afterwards.
"Well, I guess it should be breakfast time. Want to head to the Great Hall to grab something to eat?" Draco asked looking over at Hermione.
"Sure."
They started walking towards the school together, and Draco gently reached over and grasped Hermione's hand in his.
Hermione stopped walking and looked down at their entwined hands.
Draco stopped walking also, and looked over at her.
"Is this okay?" he asked motioning to their clasped hands.
"Yeah, sorry. I just wasn't expecting it."
Draco nodded his head in understanding, and also because he didn't have an answer.
"It's not that it's a bad thing" Hermione said trying to explain herself. "It's just I'm not exactly used to this side of you, and I don't know what to expect. So when you do things so genuine like this, it surprises me because it's a side of you I don't know."
"Well, I guess being a complete git to you the past six years doesn't exactly help either."
"Not really" Hermione said honestly.
"Well, I was stupid and immature back then. And I was too worried about listening to what my father told me, and believed that everything he said was right. I had an image to uphold, according to him, and I followed it to his standards. Plus, it always made my father angry that you, and muggleborn, were getting better grades then someone of my bloodline. Which in turn made me hate you because my father hated me for it."
"I don't understand why blood status is such a huge deal to some of the older Pureblood families."
"It's all about keeping up an image and making people think that they are still at the top, making people scared of them and the power that they are trying to portray that they have."
"I guess.."
"Well, like I said. I don't think like that anymore. I came to realize that everyone is the same, regardless of their blood status. Minus Weasley, he is one person I will never be able to call my equal."
"Hey!" Hermione said shoving him.
Draco smirked and let out a small laugh. "Sorry love, but that is one thing that will not change."
Hermione rolled her eyes at him. "You're still immature."
Draco puffed out his chest and ran his hands through his hair making it messy, a few strands falling sexily into his eyes. "How could you possibly say such a thing about someone who looks like me?"
"Oh get over yourself" Hermione said laughing.
Draco winked at her and pulled on her hand, pulling her body into his chest.
He wrapped his arms around her once she was in his arms, pulling her tight against him.
Hermione rested her head on his shoulder, due to the difference in height.
Hermione let out a sigh. She felt content and safe in Draco's arms.
Draco leaned down and kissed the top of her forehead.
"Oi! Get your hands off of her Malfoy!"
Hermione's head snapped to that all too familiar angry voice.
Hermione felt Draco stiffen slightly, but he held himself together and pulled away from Hermione, making sure to keep her hand in his as he turned to face Ron, who was accompanied by Harry and Ginny.
"I'm sorry" Ginny mouthed at her.
Hermione nodded to let Ginny know she got her message.
"What's wrong Weasley?" Draco asked calmly.
"Get your filthy hands off of her Malfoy before I hex you" Ron snapped.
Hermione felt Draco tighten his grip in her hand, but besides that, you wouldn't have been able to tell that the comment affected him because he kept a calm, cool demeanor.
"Technically only one of my hands is touching her" Draco replied smoothly.
Ron's face went bright red.
Hermione saw him reaching for his pocket, where he kept his wand.
"Don't even think about it Ronald" Hermione said sternly.
Ron snapped his eyes over towards her. "What?"
"I know what you're doing, you were reaching for your wand."
"Why do you care if I hex him or not. And why are you still allowing him to hold your hand?" Ron asked angrily.
"Mind your own business Weasley" Draco said menacingly.
"Shut your face you git" Ron snapped. "Hermione come here and get away from him"
"Don't tell me what to do" Hermione snapped, her temper rising.
"What the bloody hell is wrong with you Hermione? You do realize who you're holding hands with don't you? Or have you gone completely mental."
Draco felt Hermione stiffen, and was about to say something until he looked at her face. He knew she was about to snap, so, wanting to see what she would say, he kept quiet.
"There is nothing wrong with me Ronald I am perfectly fine. And yes, I realize who I am holding hands with, he just so happens to be my boyfriend."
"YOUR WHAT?"
"Boy-friend. Look it up in the dictionary if you don't understand the meaning of the word."
"I know what it means" Ron said, his face red in anger. "How could you do this?"
"Do what? Be happy?"
"You've gone bloody mental. There is no way that you can be happy with him."
"And why not?"
"Because he's Draco Malfoy, the pureblood prat who despises muggleborns, who has made our lives absolute hell the past six years."
"Grow up Ron" Hermione said shaking her head.
"You're saying that you haven't been happy?"
"Not really" she stated.
"Well you seemed like it.." Ron said slowly.
"That's because I wanted you guys to believe I was."
"I'm glad that you've been so miserable having friends like me and Harry around you, good to know that our friendship doesn't make you happy" Ron said rudely.
"It had nothing to do with you and Harry!" Hermione screamed, losing control. "It had to do with Cedric. Not everything is about you all the time!"
"Cedric? What does he have to do with anything? You barely knew the guy" Ron stated confused.
"You are so bloody oblivious it's unbelievable" Hermione said shaking her head sadly.
Harry took this moment to step forward.
"What about Cedric?" he asked.
Hermione knew that Cedric's death had taken a toll on Harry, one reason she didn't tell them about her fling with Cedric, she didn't want Harry to feel even guiltier then he already did.
"I was in love with him" Hermione stated.
Hermione released Draco's hand as Harry walked towards her, taking his hands in hers.
"We never knew" he said softly.
"That's because I didn't want you to know" Hermione said sadly.
"Why not?" Harry asked.
"Because you were already feeling guilty about Cedric's death, and whether you admit it or not I know a part of you blames yourself for what happened. Me telling you how I felt for him would only have made it worse. I didn't want to make you feel any worse than you already did."
"But you keeping it a secret and not talking about it isn't fair to you" Harry stated.
Hermione shrugged her shoulders.
"How did it happen?"
"What?" Hermione asked confused.
"How did you fall in love with Cedric?"
"You really want to know?" Hermione asked.
"Hermione, you're my best friend, of course I want to know. I don't want you to feel like you need to keep secrets from me, regardless of if you think it's best for me or not. We're best friends, we are supposed to trust one another and tell each other things. We're the ones who are supposed to be there and help you through things such as losing a loved one, just like you were there for me when I lost Sirius. Yes, I'm a guy, but that doesn't mean I don't want to hear about your relationships. Obviously some details I don't need to hear, but you shouldn't feel like you need to keep it a secret."
Hermione pulled Harry into a tight hug.
"Now, are you going to tell me about this little romance story or what?" Harry asked smirking.
