Disclaimer: I make no money off of this fanfiction. Harry Potter and its world isn't mine. Any and all resemblance is entirely coincidental. Again, All fun and practice. |
There was the subtle tension in Hogwarts. Harry knew the cause and the reason. ‘Professor’ Umbridge was a dark witch.
She was not a dark lord. But she did have an effect. Harry didn’t bother to read the ever expanding educational decrees. Every decree was the exact same thing.
Control.
The same damn link expressed a different way. Umbridge was hoping to legislate herself into power she had no hope to grasp. If he saw it for what it was.
Doubtless Hermione and others did too.
Each link in a chain she hoped to strangle all opposition with. Harry found major flaws with her approach. The first was Umbridge assumed that wizards and witches would continuously blindly following her orders as if she was some impregnable source of order. It was stupid.
Another giant flaw is that it was a stationary plan. Be the dangerous spider at the center of the web until no matter what the flies had no choice but embrace the web.
She seemed to forget that wizards already had a plethora of spells dedicated to ridding themselves and their residences of vermin. Harry was going to squish her. He knew he could take her in a straight duel and kill her outright. But there would be no fun in that. She more than any other deserved her worse than death punishment.
Umbridge was a parasite but even a loath as he was to admit it. She was a useful one, There was no way Dumbledore being as powerful as he was. This opposing lord had to sense that there was a rising darkness.
Harry could feel Dumbledore long before he entered a room. She kept the headmaster off his trail as his abilities continued to flourish. Crabbe and Goyle’s brawl had been fun to watch as points were deducted from slytherin and the two didn’t understand why they fought. Just that they had.
A parasite that was a convenient smokescreen.
He didn’t dare use his abilities, not here infront of Dumbledore no matter how much he wanted to make Umbridge suffer.
Harry’s green eyes spied the distance between him and the other students of Gryffindor. Contrary to what everyone thought he was aware of the ministry’s slander.
To attack a child. Proved they were useless and new leadership was needed.
He had done all he was going to.
Sink or swim. Harry mused whom would leave the pot and who would boil?
What about Dumbledore? Asked the cursed locket.
Harry enjoyed the Halloween Feast. He took the time to look discretely in Dumbledore’s direction. Just the sheer power.
It was to bask in a star’s overwhelming presence. If Harry had to he would kill Dumbledore but… it would be a quick and easy death.
Dumbledore deserved that much.
He wondered if his peers understood the difference between burning and boiling? As the dessert came, Treacle Tart.
He beamed to himself. His favorite dessert and he did his best to suppress his moans from the wholesome sweet gooey bites that awaited him.
It made him forget. For a long moment he could imagine that he was Harry Potter again. When the last crumb was gone.
The reality came crashing down upon him. He didn’t know how much longer he could keep up this charade.
This false veneer that everyone seemed to believe in.
Harry Potter was dead.
He never left the graveyard. He was going to research spells that enabled him to disappear for good.
It was going to get him killed. There was no going back and perhaps there never was.
His momentary happiness turned to ash in his mouth. Harry had been a child abandoned one too many times.
When the time came it was the death curse. Leo commanded dementors and the dark.
Harry was the first to leave and he ducked behind a statue and used his invisibility cloak to make his way to his destination.
The classroom was a perfect spot unused and completely vacated. He swung his cloak off on the professor’s desk and waited.
He gasped as he sat down. Fred and George’s toy moved within him pleasurably. He waited by tapping his fingers on the desk.
Harry snapped his fingers.
“Kreacher” he bade and in response a crack before the desk resounded. There was his house elf, looking far better than he had been at the headquarters of the phoenix
“Master!” Kreacher bowed.
“Thank you, Kreacher! I have a simple request for you.” The elf’s large bat like wings ears moved into an obvious look of curiosity.
“There is a house-elf here in Hogwarts I would like to meet. Within a couple days I would like to talk with her.”
Kreacher nodded. “Kreacher would be happy to introduce Master to whomever you wish.” Harry beamed. Kreacher seemed to have decided to stop hating him, that was an excellent improvement.
“When you have a chance, I would like to meet the house elf named Winky soon. “ The doorhandle jiggled for a moment.
Kreacher nodded. “Have a good night Kreacher, you are dismissed!”
As the familiar rabbity student locked the door behind him. There was a look of great apprehension as he walked toward Harry who clutched his wand lightly.
In the rabbity student’s hand was the vial and his hand trembled.
“I got the letter.Uh… What is it?”
Harry tapped his fingers along his wand and laughed. “That is proof of service, difficult to obtain but containing something you will find enlightening. Theodore Nott!”
“A memory. A recent one.” Theodore’s eyes widened. Harry deliberately took his time to open the drawers looking for something suitable.
Theodore stuck his hand into a pocket and procured a cup miniature cup that he cast the engorgement charm on and it looked grew until it widened almost into a plate.
Theodore stuck the cup in the on the desk before him and slowly uncorked the vial. He poured the silvery wisp drop into the cup and he swirled it around with his wand.
Theodore’s face drew close to the silvery wisp and Harry smiled as Theodore’s eyes glazed over the moment his face touched.
It was more than adequate trade. A perfectly valid show of good faith.
Theodore ripped his head back suddenly looking thoroughly shaken.
“Yes, Fascinating isn’t it? Your father is fine.” Theodore was still shaken. “I don’t know how you have a source so close to Lord-“ Harry held up his hand.
“I fulfilled my side of the agreement. Now then Theodore Nott I believe I wish to know everyone part of Malfoy’s gang.” Theodore nodded. As he carefully poured the memory back into the vial and undid the charm on his cup that he stuffed into a pocket.
“Pansy Parkinson,Pike, Crabbe and Goyle, Blaise and Graham Montague. I am only loosely aligned.” Theodore divulged the information.
“Why?” He asked.
Harry hummed for a moment. “I think you know by know Theodore, I’m not just a normal wizard. You also know that he and I have a rather long sided rivalry. I’m going to break him. Before-“
Harry chuckled that was all Theodore Nott was going to get out of him. Harry snatched his cloak and got up from his chair.
“Now then, It is time for us to depart. Our arrangement is concluded.” Harry made to leave as he passed Theodore Nott.
“Wait!”
Harry lazily turned to face Nott. “Oh? I believe our business was concluded.”
Theodore Nott looked at him with desperation. “I can help you.”
Harry’s reply was cut off as the door of the classroom drifted open and a figure strode into the room and the door locked behind them.
“Protego!” Harry’s shield charm rippled as a spell ricocheted off it.
Harry dropped the invisibility cloak and glared at Theodore Nott. Who paled and shook his head.
It was one of Umbridge’s attack dogs. A so called auror, Harry was disgusted by how he once looked up towards them. They were shiny by bother to rub the paint off a little and you saw how rotten the insides were.
He was dressed almost like an average wizard but there was an offness about him. He reminded Harry of the rat faced bastard he snuffed out.
He couldn’t he trusted.
“How many galleons do you think will make this go away?” The man asked conversationally.
Harry kept most his focus on his shield charm. “I’ll let you choose.” As he stole a gaze towards the Theodore Nott. Whose face paled. Harry wasn’t going to influence him.
Nott had a choice to make.
“Umbridge will be most interested that an Undesirable is causing problems after curfew.” The man rasped.
Harry blinked unimpressed. “Am I supposed to fear you?”
“I’m sure your father would be more agreeable.” The corrupt auror said with a sneer. Nott’s face hardened with anger. “You know he will go after your father.” Harry said.
Nott’s hand clutched his wand. “Well then” Harry beamed maliciously as he turned towards Umbridge’s dog. Harry stopped playing games, the shadows in the room began to lengthen and darken.
As Harry took a threatening step. As the fires in the sconces flickered and danced.
Harry sarcastically bowed. His wand pointing at the professor’s table behind him. The auror looked stunned and then his was purple with rage.
A spell splashed off Harry’s shield charm. There was a moment of silence and the battle began.
Harry flicked his wand “Oppugno!”
The large desk launched itself and the corrupt auror blanched and dove to the side as it flew past him and splintered against the door.
Harry was already moving. His shield charm already up as sparks rippled and sparked against it. It vanished the man was clearly taken back at the sudden offense.
Harry swiped aggressively as his severing charm raced off the and cleft through a nearby desk. His face gawked. Harry’s charms were barely held at bay.
With a guttural roar he shouted the incantation. “DIFFINDO!” His rage reverberated off the walls. The shield charm shattered as the shield charm had been sheared through.
Harry’s left hand already clutching the knuckle dusters as he closed in and the brass knuckle covered left fist crashed into his dishonest face with a sickening crunch.
Blood sprayed and he hit the ground with a groan. The corrupt man’s wand clattered to the ground.
“Incarcerous!” Harry spoke and ropes constricted the would be blackmailer. He summoned the man’s wand to his hand.
His eyes blazed as he turned his head towards Nott. “Now then, I believe you have a choice to make.”
Theodore Nott looked upon the Harry Potter frightened as the shadows grew. As if the lights within the classroom could barely shine in face of the growing shadows.
Fear gripped his heart as the shadows embraced the supposed boy who lived. The questions racing in his head ended as the battle was decidedly one sided.
Nott thought he heard screams of horror. Never in his life would he think he’d see it.
The pureblood whispered late at night stories of great terror and power. A dark lord was rising!
Everything slowly clicked together in his head. The reason why Harry was much more different than anyone remembered. The thinly veiled threats and why he knew more than he should. Why he was far more powerful than he should be.
Harry Potter was a dark lord.
Theodore Nott couldn’t help but feel the twinge. There was a discernable pull toward Potter.
Crabbe and Goyle didn’t know why they had fought. Nott knew and he trembled. They had all dabbled in the dark arts. The darkness called them. He had always suspected that Crabbe and Goyle had gone further than what they said.
As Harry slinked toward him his wand in his holster. Clutching the man’s wand like a trophy.
“I believe, You have a choice to make Theodore Nott.” Harry said but the darkness around him reverberated with that statement.
Harry circled him like an eager predator to the feast. “We both heard what he said. He will go after your father.”
Nott trembled as harry stopped behind him sending a shiver down his spine. The darkness sang to him so sweetly.
So tempting, Nott felt like he drowning as Harry whispered in his ear. “You know the spell. The spell that can end this. Did not Mad-Eye Moody teach us about it extensively?”
“As he killed that spider?” He asked coyly, softly. Theodore jumped as Harry touched him and he felt Harry’s heat. “Your hands are trembling. Here let me steady them.”
Part of Theodore wanted to drop his wand, or run away. To flee the situation.
“Are you really going to let this pathetic excuse of a wizard go after your father?” Harry whispered.
“What do you think will happen when this man gets what he wants? Do you really think it will end with just that one time? He’ll ask again and again. Oh, it will be a trifling at first but the more he asks
the more his greed will grow. You know exactly what he’s like more, more and more!”
“He is an unfillable hole. Say the words and mean them Theodore Nott.” Harry nuzzled his ear. “You will never have to be alone again. I know what you are. I’ll even remind you what the words are. Avada Kedavra.”
“Two measly words and this problem disappears. No more wretched man! Isn’t that something that the wizards of old would glory in? To remove a problem permanently?”
“Say the words and mean them.”
Theodore Nott quailed as Harry steadied him aim. “I’ll tell everyone what you are!” The raw hunger rumbled in his mind. That was what he wanted.
The man groaned as he stirred. Nott felt the smile burn into his skin. As Umbridge’s attack dog blurrily sat up. His heart raced, he couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t breathe!
The man’s eyes widened in recognition. His lips formed to beg for his miserable life.
Theodore Nott gazed into the abyss.
His voice no more than a whisper. “Avada Kedavra!” There was a flash of green light that illuminated the entire room. The ineffable sound of some great thing rushing through the room!
And the abyss took Theodore Nott and claimed him whole.
It was only at the last moment, that he realized that he had lost something he could never regain. The part of him that cared… The moment passed.
Nott blinked away the blinding spots from the green brilliance he had unleashed.
“I… I-I Killed him.” Nott whispered. “Hmm.. Why yes, That tends to happen when you use the Killing Curse. It was a good kill. Savor it.”
Harry’s words slithered in his head. Nott sagged against Harry needing to feel the origin of the pull that now bound him.
Bound him to his master.
Despite himself, he couldn’t disobey because he didn’t want to. “I won’t send another message now that I know Umbridge and her pets are reading the mail. You will come when called.”
“Yes, Master!” Nott nodded not wanting to be parted as Harry stepped away from him. “Tomorrow, you will meet me at that bathroom in the morning.”
“Yes!YES!” Nott cried.
“Kreacher!” There was a crack. “Could you please take Theodore Nott to the Slytherin Common Room? Before you return here. Goodnight! Theodore Nott!”
The House Elf bowed and shuffled over towards Nott. “And Nott” Theodore looked at him.
“Tell no one what has happened.” Nott nodded eagerly.
Harry took his time with the repairing charm and returned the room to its former self. All except for the corpse of the man that attempted to extort him.
That miscalculation had cost him his life. What kind of fool would attempt to extort a dark lord? A stupid one.
Now what was he going to do with the body?” What was done was done. But it had cost him nothing and gained him a follower.
It was… intoxicating. He felt the moment Nott was his. His life was his command and Harry would put him to good use. Harry would probably bind him with the Unbreakable Vow just to be on the safe side.
Harry tingled wonderfully all over. There would be escalation after this. Umbridge would have to retaliate after this. It made her look what she was.
Weak. All the influence in the world could not overcome that basic fact. She couldn’t take him in a duel and he knew it.
Kreacher reappeared with a crack.
“If you please, Take us to his room” Harry bade as he clutched the dead man with his eyes wide open.
Harry put the brass knuckles into his pocket and immediately locked the door. There were liquor bottles all over the man’s desk.
He’d been a drunk.
Harry could use that he thought. Harry dragged the dead man to his bed and propped the body with it before he grabbed the nearest liquor bottle and immediately poured it all over the parchments on the desk until they were inundated and the alcohol dripped to the floor.
He poured the next couple all over the dead man and dropped them next to the body and he used a couple more. One to create a line towards the desk and another to make a small pool as he dropped the last one.
Glass shattered everywhere. Someone was bound to investigate so he hurried towards the lantern on the desk. He swept it with an arm as it crashed onto the line of alcohol.
For a moment Harry feared he was going to have to use magic. Then the alcohol caught. Fire raced towards the pool in the middle to the body and the desk which promptly caught aflame.
Harry stayed for a few moment until he was sure no one would think a killing curse ended his miserable life.
Professor Umbridge wasn’t untouchable. It was time to remind her, that a sheep could only mock the wolf by copying it. There was only one dark lord at hogwarts and he did not share power!
“Kreacher, If you please take me to the chamber of secrets.I have a hate potion to brew.” Harry announced as the furious flames burned ever higher and smoke began to fill the room.
There was a crack and then they were gone. The fire turning into a raging blaze!
