Disclaimer: Harry Potter and all the characters and places of Potterverse belong to the brilliant J.K. Rowling. Everything else is mine so keep your hands
off of it unless you want me to sic Severus on you!
A/N: Hey guys, I’m sooooooooooo sorry
this took so long. Homework sucks. I have a question for all of you. Now, some of you might remember that I said
that at some point I’m going to be writing a sequel to this story. My question is that, for the Epilogue, would
you like something that talks about what happens (in the present tense or
simple past) right after the final battle or would you like an Epilogue that
takes place closer to the beginning of the next story, but still explains
everything that happens immediately after the final battle? The next story starts approximately six years
after the final battle, just so you know what kind of time lapse you’re looking
at. Both versions would contain the same information pertaining to this story,
but version two would have more information pertaining to the sequel. Just
think about it please and let me know what you think. I’ll let the majority opinion sway my
decision unless I discover some highly important reason to do it a different
way once I reach the end of the story. Hugs
Everyone! Read, Review, and Enjoy!

Chapter 31: War Comes Calling
June 10th, 3:00p.m.
“What do you mean you can’t find her
anywhere,” Sirius roared and Remus winced.
He grabbed onto his friend as he rounded on Gregory. “You said she was just going for a walk with
Ginny.”
The poor
boy (who Remus heard had already been through enough that day) took a step back
and nodded quickly. “Eris said she was
going for a walk with Ginny because she’d had a fight with Profess…er…I mean Severus.
She didn’t say where they were going.”
Harry stepped in front of
Gregory. “It’s not his fault,
Sirius. I can’t sense Eris anywhere in
the school. If she’s here then she has
me completely blocked out.”.
“But this doesn’t make any sense,” Minerva
snapped. “If she was fighting with
Severus then why have all three of them disappeared together?”
Remus closed his eyes, trying not
to assume that the worst case scenario had occurred and Voldemort now had their
missing loved ones. Nothing had happened
to them. They would all show up soon and
everything would be fine.
A sudden slamming of the door
brought his eyes quickly open, but instead of seeing the three wayward Order members
there stood Roslyn, tears streaking her face and her hand shaking as she held
out an envelope. “Roslyn, what…”
“Read it,” she cut in hoarsely. Harry took the letter from her and Roslyn
promptly fell into a nearby by chair and began weeping in her hands. Remus felt
himself growing colder with every second.
Their friends had been taken, that could be the only reason for Roslyn’s
reaction.
Harry unfolded the letter and
began to read. “To the Order of the Phoenix:
Many of you should have learned long ago never to cross a Slytherin, but still
you’ve injured me. So I’ve taken a
course to be avenged three fold. I
return to my lord with…oh no…please no…”
Harry broke off with a strangled sob and fell to his knees.
Remus rushed forward to take the
letter, picking up where the boy left off.
“I return to my lord with two great gifts, your precious spy and a
sacrifice that escaped him once before.
His third gift I will give him when we meet again on the field and in
return the deaths of my offenders will pacify me. No longer your own, Eris.”
Remus let the letter fall to the
floor, shaking his head. Blaise was on
his feet in an instant. “Don’t you
believe it! She
would never hurt Ginny, never!”
Remus watched sadly as Gregory
grabbed on to his friend and pulled him into a hug. Remus shook his head, saying softly, “I’m
sorry…so sorry, but she…she signed it magically with her own blood.”
He looked at Sirius who was now
ashen, his fists clenched and jaw set.
Their eyes met and Sirius whispered, “I did this. I killed her hope…her desire to help Harry,
to bother loving anyone.”
Remus grabbed a hold of his friend
and held him tightly. “We all did,
brother, we all did. We can only hope
that she’ll see reason before the end.”
“The best thing we can do now,” Minerva said
calmly, “is call the Ministry and have them send every auror
they have. We need to call out every
witch and wizard who’s brave enough to stand up and help.”
<p “Merlin knows we’ll need it
if she’s actually turned,” Harry growled.
“She can tell him…everything. All
the training I’ve done won’t mean much it Voldemort already knows every move
I’ll make.”
Draco looked furious, as did
Blaise. The blond quickly let go of
Harry and stepped back from him. “All so
ready to doubt her, are you? Then maybe
you should just doubt me too.”
Tahdei
was frowning and turned to his daughter.
Remus watched a silent communication pass between them. Neither seemed happy with the other. If Remus had to guess he’d say that Tahdei thought Naiya knew
something about this and Naiya was still mad at
father for helping to instigate Eris’ bonding.
Naiya left the room quickly, casting angry
glances at both her father and Sirius and confused looks at Hermione and
Roslyn. What were they supposed to know
that no one else did?
Draco also ran from the room
before anyone could stop him, Blaise hot on his heels. Greg and Hermione sat close together, both
their expressions warring between betrayal and misery. Ron was helping Harry back up to his
feet. If anyone had been hoping to tear
them apart from the inside they had a good start.
Remus closed his eyes. He’d been so wrong, so very wrong. He hadn’t known what the worst was until he
read that letter.

June 10th 5:00p.m.
Eris had her black robe wrapped
about her shoulders, hood down. Her mask
was in her hand and she would only put it on if Voldemort allowed it. She left the broom she’d used to leave the
Chamber near the lake, leaving her closer to the dark army before her than the
school, but still it seemed that she had a massive space to cross. Severus had informed her that Voldemort
desperately wanted her back, but that didn’t mean that he didn’t simply want to
strike her down himself.
As she
neared the front line she saw him, sitting on a conjured throne with Lucius at
his right hand and Bellatrix sitting at his
feet. Bellatrix
was giving her a foul look, but Lucius’ expression was hungry. Eris saw that Narcissa
was standing behind him, another complication.
No one drew their wands. No one
said a word. Half the Death Eaters there
had no idea who she was, or at least not that she was at one time a part of
their number.
She
stopped about five feet in front of the throne, out of Bellatrix’s
reach, and bowed deeply. Voldemort rose
and glided to her, a smile gracing his unnaturally handsome face. “Finally you return to me. Did I not tell you the truth of how they
would treat you?”
Eris hung her head. “They betrayed me in ways that I never
thought possible. You were right. I
opened myself up to them and…”
“And they used you,” Voldemort said in a silky
tone, caressing her hair. “They used you
to help train their little savior and then tried to trap you. But they don’t know you like I do, sweet
Eris. They don’t know how strong you
are. I knew you would come back me and
after I kill the wizard who dared to claim you as his own, I hope you will once
again consider accepting me.”
Eris closed her eyes, feeling a
few tears slip out. “I don’t deserve you
after what I’ve done.”
“But you will,” he purred. “After you fulfill your vow you will be my
most worthy.”
Eris nodded and Voldemort retook
his throne. He motioned for her to join
him at his left side and she moved quickly to comply. He leaned close to her, his voice near to its
old hiss. “Tell me, Eris, Lucius has
been wondering if his son could be reclaimed.
Do you think, with the influence you have over him, that you could bring
back to us?”
Eris tilted her head to the side,
considering the possibility. “Definitely. With the
oaths we swore to each other, it would be in his best interest to stay by my
side and Slytherins always do what’s best for themselves.”
“Very good,” Voldemort said with a smirk. “His mother will be pleased as well and I
think it will do you good to have a close friend amongst us.”
“Severus serves that purpose as well, my
lord,” Eris said briskly. “You were wise
to place us together before.”
“Ah yes, and where is dear Severus?”
Eris smiled sweetly. “Making sure my precious seeds are watered,
my lord. Once he’s taken care of the
last of my loose ends he’ll be by your side and, if all goes well, the Order
will be deep within the muck and mire of internal turmoil.”
“Excellent work, Eris,” Voldemort said with a
nod. “They’ll definitely mourn the day they turned against you.”
Eris bowed her head again in
modesty and faced forward, sparing a few daggered looks for Bellatrix
along the way. Eris knew she’d have to
watch her back until she could put a knife in Bellatrix’s.

June 11th
Eris watched with mild curiosity as the
turrets and towers of Hogwarts filled with foolish students hoping to gain a
glance at Voldemort’s army. She sensed Lucius before she saw him and was
immediately on her guard. “Prowling about, Lucius?”
She
looked over at the blond and was not surprised to see a devilish smirk on his
face. “Dear Discordia,
haven’t you missed me?”
Eris sneered. “You mean I was supposed to miss being
brutally raped, sliced to ribbons, and verbally degraded?”
Lucius brushed a hand against her
cheek and she refused to flinch.
“Careful, Eris, your true colors might show.”
Eris stepped close to the man,
barely brushing her lips against his, staring him straight in the eye. “Are you afraid? Are you worried that when he makes me his
queen my first order of business will be to make sure you end up in tiny little
pieces? Does it make you ill to know
that I’ll put Severus or Draco in your place?”
“You’re not as important as you think,” Lucius
hissed coolly, brushing his nose along hers.
“You shouldn’t play games with a master.
You’re bound to get hurt. When
he’s used you to suit his purposes, he’ll let me have you to enjoy.”
“Dear Lucius,” Eris purred. “After your failures, do you really think
he’ll abuse me like that after I kill Harry?”
Eris pivoted and swept away,
smiling to herself.
Just let the “almighty” Lucius Malfoy think on that for a while.
“Oh, Eris,” Lucius called after her. “There’s someone you should meet here. A few people actually.”
Eris stopped without turning
around. Why would Lucius care if she met
anyone new? Refusing to deal with the
blond any longer, Eris moved on hoping to run into Narcissa
at some point. She would need the woman’s
help if Draco was to be kept under control.
As she walked along she spotted Bellatrix
hanging close to several ragged looking Death Eaters and that’s when what
Lucius had said made sense. The Azkaban
prisoners had been freed.
A
particularly vicious looking Death Eater was leering at her, his teeth
bared. Eris gripped her wand tightly and
kept her expression cold. Unfortunately, Bellatrix
spotted her.
“Potter, get over here,” the wild-eyed witch
called. Eris ground her teeth together
as the other Death Eaters observed her with a keener interest.
She
stepped up to the group. “Do refrain
from addressing me by that name, Bellatrix.”
Bellatrix
sneered at her. “What’s the matter? Is Potter’s ickle
sister afraid to admit where her blood runs from?”
Eris smiled sweetly and in a flash
had her wand at Bella’s throat. “Of course not, Bella.
Shall we see where I can make yours run from?”
The
vicious looking Death Eater threw his head back and laughed. “That’s my kind of woman, Bella. Leave her alone.”
Eris pulled her wand away and
observed the Death Eater through narrowed eyes. “Who are you then?”
“Fenrir Greyback,” the man said in a raspy voice. He bared his teeth again.
“Ah, one of the werewolves,” Eris said
thoughtfully, thinking of the stories Remus had told her. “I’ve heard of you before.”
“Only bad things, I hope,” Fenrir
said, scratching his long, yellowed nails on the side of his robes. “I’d hate for you not to have a proper fear
of me.”
Eris pursed her lips and leaned in
close to the disgusting wizard. “Have
you ever heard stories of what the Numina Pumilum do to werewolves who develop…rabid personalities?
“ Fenrir
paled. “Ah yes, I see you have. Just make sure that you maintain a proper
fear of me and keep your fangs to yourself or I’ll use them to make myself a
new set of spicula.”
Eris left the group then, a wicked
smile on her face. If she only had one
day to live she could definitely deal with spending it terrorizing everyone who
looked at her sideways.

June 12th
12:46p.m.
“They’re ready, Harry,” Sirius said quietly.
Harry sighed, still gazing out the
window. He turned to Sirius, wondering
how his godfather was going to get through this. He didn’t even know how he was going to get
himself through it. The biggest question
that kept circling around in his mind was about whether or not they would be
able to get Eris out of this alive. It
was obvious that she’d simply lost her grip on sanity. She was acting out of anger and pain. He knew that if they could just get her back
and away from all this she would be better.
Draco still wouldn’t accept that
Eris had turned and therefore was not speaking to Harry. Blaise and Greg were on the blond’s side and Harry couldn’t blame them. All three of them had come onto this side of
the war by pledging themselves to Eris first and foremost. The betrayal for them was obviously too close
to their hearts for them to even admit that it had occurred. Harry could empathize with that, but he
didn’t have the luxury of remaining in denial.
“Harry,” Sirius said again, a bit loudly this
time, and Harry turned to face him.
“I’m sorry, Siri,
I’m thinking about how we’ll get through this,” Harry said softly. “I know we’ve been over everything time and
time again, but…there are so many unknowns.”
Sirius put a hand on his
shoulder. “I know, pup, but we’ll get
through this one step at a time.”
“I couldn’t stand the looks on Molly and
Arthur’s faces when we told them about Ginny.
Fred and George looked like they’d willingly kill Eris on the spot.”
“No one will let them do that,” Sirius said
fiercely. “We’ll get her back and then
we’ll get her some serious help.”
“Yes, the best care at St. Mungo’s,”
Harry said bitterly. “She’ll really
forgive us then. And
what about Severus? What do you
think she’s done to him?”
Sirius looked away. “Worry about what Voldemort will do to him if
she tells him that Severus is a spy.”
Harry shivered, closed his eyes,
and then took a steadying breath. When
he looked at Sirius again, it was with a hard look in his eyes. “I’m ready.
Take me to them.”

1:13p.m.
Eris stood by the Dark Lord’s side
as they watched the Order and its allies march onto the battle field. The two armies seemed evenly matched, but
that meant little. Many of the “troops”
to the rear of the Order’s army were Hogwarts
students. To their credit they had
nearly forty aurors, but she didn’t think that would
mean much if they didn’t receive some…extra advantage.
She could
see Harry in the front, dressed in the elven armor
that she had chosen for him herself, the golden chainmail
glinting in the afternoon sun. Sirius,
Remus, Naiya, Tahdei, Draco
and all the other members of their tightly knit group stood close to him. The rest of the Order stood on either side of
them and the aurors took up a line behind them. Hagrid was there as
well, directly behind Harry and towering over everyone else.
Eris thought of the witches and
wizards on either side of her on the Death Eater battle line and smiled
grimly. Soon enough she’d have her
chance to plunge her enemies into chaos.
