They heard the footsteps on the natural stone walkway, making three of the four stop their whispered conversation and turn their heads. Harry smiled at the three who approached, while Rodolphus and Rabastan arched sable brows.
"Logan. Damien. Kili. I guess we should have guessed they'd send someone to check on him."
Grins. "Dad sent us down to tell you that dinner will be ready shortly, and yes...we are under orders to check on Roark," Logan told him as he looked at his sleeping youngest brother with concern. "How is he?"
"He's much calmer, and his emotions are no longer as all over the place as they were," came the soft answer. "He's no longer in danger of burning down the house."
Soft laughter came from the three. "Wouldn't have been able to even had he accidentally started a fire. There are too many water/ice elements to quench any flames," Damien said as he stepped closer. "He's asleep?"
"Yes--"
"No," came at the same time as Rodolphus' answer. "I'm awake," he answered softly in a still very sleepy tone. He sat up slowly from his lean against Rodolphus with a yawn, giving a wince. He lifted a hand to lay it against his chest over where the bandaged wound was.
"How are you, Rory?" Kili asked as he moved closer to him to lay a hand on his shoulder, rubbing.
A shrug. "I'm alright, Ki. I thought he'd be more understanding, more...accepting than he was. I was NOT expecting him to be so adamant that Dolph and I end our relationship. I assume this is exactly why Raphael and Schyler don't announce to one and all that they are heart and soul bonded."
All three nodded. "It is, and unfortunately for them, everyone knows that they are cousins. There may yet come a time when they just don't care what people will say, deciding to be more open as to how they really feel about one another. Things are going to have to change before they actually decide to do that though. More to protect the kids than themselves."
"Until such a time that people's opinions and perceptions change, we stand beside them, protecting them and the children, helping them hide as much as possible," Logan said as he moved closer.
"I think, though, if it's any consolation, Adama will eventually come around," Kili said as he moved to stand beside Damien, looking at his youngest cousin with concerned eyes. "Your grandmother was not at all happy with him. Not happy AT ALL. She called him a prude."
Roark gave an amused sound as Harry laughed. "She's called him much worse things on occasion," Roark told them as he rose to his feet, stretching, this time his wince of discomfort much more noticeable.
"He's probably received quite a lecture on their way home," Harry chuckled.
"And more. Come on, let's head back to the house. I'm sore, and I'm hungry. I thought I heard dinner would be ready soon," he glanced down at his watch and then, swore. "I'm late taking my meds."
"Dinner will be on the table very soon," Logan told him, his look of worry more pronounced. "Raph, Schy, and the triplets should be back with your things soon."
"And you two," Damien grinned at Harry and Rabastan, "will not be returning to the apartment. Alexei took Fili, Roan, and Christopher to pack up your things."
"We DO hope," Damien grinned at them as they turned to begin moving up the walkway toward the house, "that you were planning to move in."
"You already have a full house, Damien," Roark said with a glance over at him.
Laughter. "That we do, so four more are hardly going to matter," Logan said as he bumped his shoulder gently to Roark's, "but you are our baby brother--yes, yes, Ki, I know. Do stop poking at me...and cousin. We will always find room for family no matter HOW full we are."
"Now come on," Kili said as he grinned widely at them, "we'll show you to your rooms. You can wash up a bit and change out of those uniforms before we eat."
"A wash and a change of clothes do sound good. I'm still on medical leave, and now that the inquiry is over, I can start wearing regular clothing. At least until Severus, Sebastien, Robin, and Schyler release me back to active duty."
"And I bet THAT will not be happening until it's time to leave for the Peace Conference meeting area."
Roark turned his head. "Sucker bet, that is, Kili, and I don't take sucker bets because I know I can't win them."
Laughter suddenly sounded from Damien. "Like the bet you made with Raph concerning those changes to your weapons belt."
"Exactly like that. OH! By the way, Dolph, Bas, you should both probably count on Raph cornering you in the near future. He likes what he saw on my belt. He wants to talk to you about making those changes to all of the Counter-Intelligence weapon's belts."
"He's already gotten to me," Rabastan said with a chuckle. "The only real problem is that the shuriken is a rather specialized weapon. It's hard to learn to throw them with any degree of accuracy. It's possible, of course, but it'll take time. He's spoken to me about adding a specialized weapon training program to the curriculum of the Academy and asked me to teach it. I agreed."
"He got to me yesterday before I left Headquarters. I WAS wondering where he had heard about it." Rodolphus shook his head. "We've already discussed it, and I have also agreed to teach some classes on throwing knives. He was also not the only one to like those changes we made to your belts. As soon as I can get in touch with Mikhail, I'll see if he would like to move to Caprica. Until then, and until the classes are added to the Academy, Rabastan and I will be working to make those changes ourselves."
"I really like the idea of having a secondary form of defense if we can't get to our lasers for whatever reason, and while it won't do much good against the Cylons...I think we are all very well aware the Cylons are not the only danger out there. It just makes good sense to have a second way to deal with the problems that may arise."
Rodolphus nodded. "Which is why Rabastan and I did what we did in the first place. The knife is a MUCH easier way to deal with close kills if you need to. And it is also agreed that knives wouldn't be any good against the Cylons. Knives just don't work well against all that tin can metal. Mikhail and I were already beginning to work on a solution. As I haven't spoken to him since leaving Aquaria, I have no idea if he's managed to come up with anything yet."
