A/N: Okay, just so you guys don�t think I messed something up, this
chapter goes forward in time by about 30-45 minutes from the last chapter and
then in chapter 33 we go back to the moment where Eris is watching the Order
take the battle field. I know that
sounds weird, but trust me, it will make sense once we hit the end of Chapter
33. (At least I hope so�)

Chapter 32: Serpent Slaughter

1:48p.m.

Ginny stared carefully at Severus,
trying to determine what was going on in the man�s head. She could see herself getting ordered around
by Eris, but she didn�t think that anything would stop Severus from taking part
in the final battle. She�s noticed an
odd, vacant expression wash over his face from time to time during their stay
in the Chamber and was beginning to wonder if Eris had done something to him to
make him compliant. Still, as much as
the evidence seemed to favor the theory, Ginny couldn�t bring herself to
believe that Eris would have cast the Imperius Curse
on Severus. She loved him too much.

That was when another thought
occurred to her. When had Eris worked up
the courage to tell Severus about the twins?
She decided to ask him herself.
�Severus, how long have you known that Eris is�was�er�is
going to be a mother.�

The man paled slightly. �I only found out when she began speaking
with you about the transfer. I take it
that Sirius managed to impregnate her with twins?�

Ginny sat with her mouth hanging
open. What the devil was Eris playing
at? The girl had left her here to
explain this to Severus on her own?
�Um�I don�t know how to tell you this, but�only one of the babies is
Sirius�.�

Severus frowned and seemed to
struggle to speak his mind on the subject.
In the end he settled for simply asking, �How?�

Ginny clutched her hands together
in her robe. �Naiya
said that it happened because of your involvement with the bonding
ceremony. Um�you�re not really supposed
to know this, but female Numina Pumilum
become pregnant via the magically energies of their bonded at the moment the
bonding occurs. They don�t need to�er�you know��

�One of the children is mine,� Severus said
flatly. His expression was blank. This really wasn�t what Ginny expected from
him. She thought that he�d at least
express some anger. She could tell that
he was feeling something, but it was like he wasn�t letting the emotion come
out.

She nodded slowly and said, �It�s
a girl. Eris named her Serena. Sirius� is a little boy that Eris named
Regulus.�

Severus was on his feet then his
fists clenched. Out of the corner of her
eye, Ginny saw the burlap bag twitch as it had several times since their
arrival. �Severus, what�s
in the bag?�

She turned back and saw that he�d
leveled his wand in her direction. His
eyes seemed cloudy as he said, �Its time.�

Ginny wrapped her arms around
herself and took a step back. �What are
you talking about? What�s happened?�

Suddenly, Severus� eyes cleared,
returning to their former black color.
His expression became pained and his hands clenched into fists. Without uttering a word, he sent a bolt of
green light shooting out of his wand and Ginny screamed covering her stomach
with her hands and turning her head to the side. She clenched her eyes shut, certain that she
and the two children inside of her were about to die.

But the bolt never hit. Death never came. She opened her eyes to see Severus dashing
toward the closet and ripping the broom from its confines. Still trembling in fear, Ginny rushed forward
and grabbed Severus� arm. He turned to
look at her and she demanded, �What is the hell is going on?�.

She was surprised to see furious
tears in his eyes even as he gently placed a hand to her cheek. �There�s no time to explain. Remain down here until Harry comes for you,
no matter what!�

The wizard seemed to hesitate for
a moment and then dropped a gentle kiss on the top of her head, whispering
softly, �Please keep them safe for me.�

Then he was gone, running off
without giving any explanation. She
turned and et her eyes dart around the room, searching
for some explanation as to what had just occurred. It was then that she saw the burlap sack, the
true target of Severus� spell, ripped to shreds. In the cloth remains lay the carcass of a
large serpent.

Severus had just destroyed the
sixth Horcrux, leaving Voldemort with no chance to
return once Harry killed him. Severus
had killed Nagini.
