Looking at Lucius, brow furrowed, Severus settled in his chair, crossing his legs. They were in their normal parlor they used to discuss sensitive matters, which told him that there was something he had to either know or tend to. Now he was slightly on edge, though. Lucius had his back to him, arms folded over his chest, leaning against the window sill, gazing out over the immaculate grounds of Malfoy Manor. From what he could see of his old friend's face, there was a troubled expression there, something that had him further on edge as he didn't know what was going on.
Clearing his throat, though Lucius didn't look at him after he did, Severus asked, tone highly wary, “What's going on, Lucius? I assume last night went fine as you got in and out without a problem.” As Black had said it all went fine, with him and Harry being in a good mood that morning, he was wondering what might have happened after Lucius came home.Brow furrowed, not looking at Severus, continuing to gaze out across the lawn, Lucius gave an internal sigh then said, “I have a topic I need to discuss with you. It's of a personal nature, though not about us, but Harry.”Slightly troubled by that, Severus nodded, “Understood. What's the topic?” That he didn't know or have any leanings about because he had heard no hint of anything troubling or bothersome.Looking down, unable to face Severus, Lucius told him, “Before I start—it will stay between us and I'm sure I'm going to touch on some topics you don't want to hear about. I'll be—cautious with what I give up so I don't give you details that will make you uncomfortable or embarrass Harry.”And Severus really didn't like that, at all. “What's the topic, in general, if I may ask?” His mind was now all over the place, highly on edge, wondering what was going on.“I suppose you would classify it as health related,” Lucius sighed, shaking his head, still not looking in Severus' direction. “At least that's the only way I know how to describe it, as it's not directly on point for this.”Face taking on a determined look, Severus told him, “If it's health related and something we need to know, give me everything so we can tend to it. I don't care how personal it is.”“It's not that simple, Severus,” Lucius sighed, shaking his head. “I'll try.” Without looking at the man, he asked, “When you did the scans for scarring, right after this mess was discovered, how bad was it? Do you know?”Remembering what Lucius was talking about, Severus told him, “The one I ran just showed there was internal scarring from it, as would be expected considering Harry's age at the time the abuse happened. I didn't do a detailed one that mapped it out.” Curious and wary, he asked, “Why?”“If we could talk Harry into allowing it, could you do a more detailed one? I know you mentioned brewing something up to eliminate the scars. I think that's something you need to do, Severus. Probably quickly.” Lucius told him softly, going back to gazing out the window.Rubbing a hand over his face, not liking this at all, Severus huffed then said, tone firm, “What is going on, Lucius? I'm sure, if it's needed, that I can talk Harry into the scan. If it's health related, I can easily enlist Black to help. It's not something I'm going to do without knowing why, though.”Sighing, Lucius' head dropped forward and he shut his eyes, trying to figure out how to word this without giving unneeded details or upsetting Harry by saying it. After a couple of minutes, with the only sounds in the parlor being them breathing and the ticking of the ancient grandfather clock, he said, “Severus, Harry is the same age as Draco. I do understand he's been far more sexually active, but what I did last night—let's say that, for as long as Sirius and I have been together, if I did to him what occurred with Harry, he would hex me for it because of the pain it caused. And Harry had no problems. I do understand that he's fairly experienced and knows what he's doing, but this--,” trailing off, he didn't know what more to say to get it across. Hearing nothing from Severus, he added, voice almost a whisper, “It was so hard my hips ache today. I didn't realize at the time just how rough I was—you know. I do now, though, and am wondering about the scarring. All this tells me there is a lack of sensation that is probably brought on by the scarring. I do understand that some have a preference for bigger and rough, but at his age there are limits.” Before Severus could say anything, he added, “Harry did tell us, and this isn't telling tales out of school as it would be expected, that most of his partners wanted him to top. I'm sure you can guess from that tidbit that there was probably a lack of being on the receiving end.”Hand over his mouth, leaning forward and bracing one elbow on his knee, Severus looked at Lucius, taking in what he said. Mind all over as he knew, from the showers at school, about Lucius and what he was referring to, he tried to think. Quietly, after a couple of moments, he asked, “He had no problems before, during or after? Such as—I'm sure you can guess.”“None,” Lucius shook his head. “I'm sure there was some discomfort, for obvious reasons. The fact that Harry's made it quite clear he doesn't like having pain inflicted on him is telling me what went on was because he liked it, and not from the painful aspect involved as some do.”Turning around for the first time, Lucius looked at his old friend then said, “Yes, this is probably something better brought to a Healer to tend to. In this case, I don't think that's a viable option, for a multitude of reasons. Harry trusts you, thus is more likely to allow you to do the scans and come up with something. I honestly don't see him allowing that with someone else, no matter what title they have. Then there is the danger of taking him anywhere. We all know the Dark Lord and the press have their fingers in plenty of places. The risk of this coming out seems too great to me.” Looking up at the ceiling, he sighed, “I don't think Harry realizes that what happened isn't 'normal'. It's my thought he has no context of what 'normal' is because of what happened to him from such a young age. It's not that I'm objecting, nor is Sirius, it's just something that might need attended to, for more reasons than the sexual. I'm sure more than that is affected by the scarring.”“If he could manage what you said at his age, I'm damned sure plenty is affected,” Severus told him, tone distracted, as he thought over what was just imparted. Shaking his head, he sighed, “Let me see what I can talk him into. I'll make sure I tell him you said something and it was because you're concerned about his health.” Harry was tetchy when it came to so many matters that he wasn't sure how he would take this one. He thought that if he said it was because Lucius was worried he might take it better.“I would also add in there when you talk to him that if those scars are gone, he'll have better sensations. Though that will help other areas, it will in the sexual as well, making it more pleasurable,” Lucius told him. “I'll also send word to Sirius about this. I'm sure he doesn't really realize just what some of it means.” That he was dead certain on. Sirius wasn't huge, but above average in size. He didn't think his long-term lover realized that Harry probably liked some of this because he could actually feel it better. Hell, he hadn't taken that into account either. Over his time he had met plenty who liked bigger and tended to play in that area, even alone. Harry wasn't of the age yet where he should have done that or had the means to go about it because of so much.“That's something I'll add on as well,” Severus nodded, voice sounding determined as he thought over just what he needed to take care of this. He did agree that anything with a real Healer was out. There were the reasons that Lucius mentioned, of course, but he was also sure even getting Harry to agree was a fight none of them wanted to take on and would result in plenty of backlash. “I'll find a way. Just let me see what I can manage. Once we finish here, I'll go look up the scans to see which one I need to use. After that, I'll go to work on Harry. Get a message to Black and be as detailed as you can. When I get to Grimmauld Place, I'll pull him aside and give him a more detailed rundown of what we want to do then see what we can figure out.”Relieved that this wasn't more uncomfortable to discuss than it had been, Lucius assured him, “I'll send something along to Sirius, never fear. Part of what I'll tell him is, between the two of you, you'll work out just how to bring this up to Harry. That's something I'll leave to the both of you as you know better what might work or how to go about getting him to agree.”“We'll find a way,” Severus said, voice sounding determined. He would, too. At the moment, he just wasn't sure how he would go about it.
“What's going on, Sirius?” Remus asked with some concern. Severus had come over then pulled Sirius aside for a talk, now he was holed up with Harry doing the same thing. That told him whatever was going on would be something important.
Shaking his head and letting out a sigh, Sirius tried to come up with a way to explain the problem without giving away details. Stroking his goatee, he said, “It's a medical bit about the scarring. Snape wants to run a scan to map out what's there so he can brew up something to get rid of it all.” That was the whole truth, he was just leaving out details Remus didn't need or, probably, want.Giving a slow nod after taking that in, Remus said, “Is it something to really be concerned about? Or is it just something cosmetic?”“A little of both,” Sirius told him honestly. “The external are cosmetic, though we want to get rid of them for Harry's sake. I'm sure that will make him feel better about so much. The internal, though—it appears there might be a problem we didn't realize. Snape is talking to him as he might have a better chance of getting him to agree to the scan he wants to do. From what he told me, this won't be comfortable to go through, something Harry's going to balk at. Let's see what he can manage and go from there. I won't step in unless Harry gets upset over it. With how he feels about Snape, the man might manage. Let's see.”“Is this something serious enough that we need to think about taking him to a Healer?” Remus asked, really concerned now, understanding the basics. He didn't like the inference either as to what it might mean for so much.“That would be for the best, I'll give you that,” Sirius sighed. Shaking his head, he listed off the reasons why they weren't going to push for that. When he finished, he shrugged, “This way might be better. We'll see what the scan finds. I'll let Snape judge from there what he thinks we need to do. He's the one of us that would know what the better course of action is, as he's far more familiar with such areas because of what he does.”Hands tapping on the table, brow furrowed, Remus looked at the door then shook his head. He wasn't sure what to say or ask as he was certain intimate details he didn't want to know about were involved. Then he asked the first thing that came to mind, “Was this something we should have noticed earlier or need to alert someone about? I don't know—maybe—I'm not sure how to word this, but if it's that bad, they might need it for that trial as I can easily guess where it came from.”“I should have noticed, but didn't,” Sirius admitted, folding his arms over his chest and looking down. “Lucius said it wasn't something he thought of either until this morning. The other bit? That I'm not sure of either. Let's see what we can manage with Harry and even getting it done before we go into that. I'll send that question along to Lucius when we finish, if we get that far. He'll know better than the rest of us what to do. Even getting Harry to agree to this won't be easy. That's why Snape is taking it on. He's better at explaining the scan, what it does, what it shows, how it feels, all of it, than I am. We thought he was better at getting across the reason as well without Harry getting upset over it.”Another glance at the door made Remus sigh. “I don't like this, Sirius. If there is one problem, there are bound to be others from it. If that's the case, he needs to see a professional.”“And there is no chance of getting him to agree to that,” Severus said, coming into the kitchen in time to hear that. “Give me a few minutes and I'll explain why.” Motioning Black over, he quickly conferred with the man then Sirius left.Coming over and sitting down, Severus snarled, “Albus and Poppy ruined that option for us. Harry made it clear he wants nothing more to do with Healers because of their cock-up and not reporting what they should. While he admits that it was probably something that didn't happen most times, what trust he should put in the system isn't there anymore. It took every bit of reasoning I could use to get him to allow me to take this on. In my case, I think it was he just doesn't want to know because he has to deal with how bad it was. I managed, thankfully.”“Bloody wonderful,” Remus muttered as he smoothed down his mustache. “And if this is worse than you expect, what are we going to do?”“I don't know,” Severus told him honestly. “Let's not put the cart before the thestral on that. I'll get the scan and see what's there. If it's just scarring, nothing more, I can brew something to eradicate it and something else to ensure that it doesn't grow worse before that completes. I managed to get Harry to agree to that without issue. Anything else—we'll take it as it comes.” Rubbing a hand over his face and groaning, he said, “We all should have figured this out from the mention of the bleeding for that length of time after the last instance. None of us did. I didn't even think about it until Lucius said something to me.”“In this instance, I think it was a case of we were focused on the most troublesome issues, Severus,” Remus soothed, understanding the man was plenty upset about the oversight. That was easy to read from his body language and tone of voice. “If it wasn't something that caused major issues, it would have taken a back burner to the rest.”“True,” Severus nodded. He was kicking himself for it, though. It's something he should have picked up on then tried to figure out what to do with Harry in regards to it. Folding his arms over his chest, he shook his head, wondering what else they might need to look into when it came to this area. There had to be more.“What are we doing now?” Remus asked, hoping to get Severus focused away from the self-blame, something he was dealing with himself. That helped nothing.“I've given Harry a potion to help him relax. Black is going to take him upstairs and do what he does to calm him down until the potion is fully in his system. Once that happens, Black's going to signal me then I'll go do the scan. It's something I'll tend to alone as I'm sure Harry won't like anyone else around, other than Black being there. As I do that, I'll judge what we'll do because that scan is not at all comfortable. In any way. If it gets too bad or Harry just can't stand the sensations, I have another potion to give him that will knock him out for a couple of hours. Honestly? It's my thought I'm going to have to employ that.” Severus explained with a sigh. “What we need from you is if anyone comes in, to distract them from seeing Sirius or Harry.”“Something I can easily take on,” Remus assured him with a vigorous nod. Quietly, he then added, “Let me know what you find, please? I don't need graphic details, of course, but I would like the basics.”“Something I'll do,” Severus assured him. Now he just had to wait for Black to get Harry in a place where he could do this with minimal issues.
Holding the dozing and more than slightly wonky Harry close, making sure the blanket was tucked around him as he rocked, Sirius lifted his wand and opened the door after determining it was Snape. It was time to do the scan. Harry was about as relaxed as he could get, though not completely, as would be expected. His godson had agreed to wear his jammies, hold Elliot and sit in the chair while Snape did this because it would help. And they had Snape's assurances he wasn't going to say a damned word about any of it. As the man had seen Harry like this before, other than in the chair, it wasn’t a big issue. Wrapping his other arm back around Harry, he continued rocking them then kissing Harry on the head.
Waiting for Snape to come over and take a seat, he told the man, “We're good as we can get with this. You don't need him to move, do you?”Putting the blank parchment and auto-quill on the small table by the rocking chair, Severus shook his head, “You're both fine. This spell works through clothing, so you can stay where you are.” Sighing, he looked at Harry, who was glassy eyed but glancing at him and said, “I'll start now. If the sensations get to a point where you can't stand them, let me know. I have the other potion we talked about right here.” With that, he pulled the phial out of his pocket and set it on the table. Firmly, though keeping his voice quiet, he said, “Forcing yourself to endure something that is making you highly uncomfortable isn't needed, Harry. There is a reason I brought that potion along and gave you the one I did. In no way is this a test of how much you can take and it proves nothing if you can't tolerate it. Keep that in mind.” Seeing Harry nod, looking like he was clinging to Black, though he couldn't tell for sure as they were both covered with the blanket, he straightened up then gripped his wand tighter. “I'm going to begin.” Seeing them both nod, he pointed his wand in the general direction he wanted to scan then muttered the spell, including the areas they needed the record of. Looking over at the parchment and quill, he was pleased to see the quill stand on end then sketch out the outline of the areas the scan was doing. Perfect. It was working.Holding Harry close when he felt his godson shiver and clutch onto him tighter, Sirius rubbed his back softly, watching the quill. “How long will this take, do you know?” He asked Snape, not liking the reaction already as Harry was fidgeting all over, clinging to him tightly and he could hear his teeth grinding. If this kept up, he would insist Harry take the other potion because he doubted that either of them could take this for long.“It depends,” Severus sighed, eyes flitting between the quill and the squirming Harry. “At minimum, a half an hour. Maybe more, depending on what it's mapping out.”“Alright, give up the other potion because Harry doesn't need to endure this for that long,” Sirius told him, hand on Harry's head, looking down at his obviously highly uncomfortable godson. “Take it, Harry. I can't stand to see you like this. And if it has to go on that long, neither of us are going to handle it well.”Shaking from the very uncomfortable feeling, like a million bugs crawling around inside him, ones that had feet that shot off almost uncomfortable jolts of static electricity, Harry nodded. Yeah, he wasn't going to argue about that because this feeling was enough to make you mental. And it would if he had to put up with it much longer.Handing the potion over to Black and watching Harry down it then fall asleep almost immediately, thus relaxing, Severus was pleased. Not that Harry had to endure this, no, but that Black could get him to do what was best with minimal argument. He knew Harry enough to know that if anyone else had said what Black just did, he would have argued, planning to endure it just to prove he could. That was the reason he made the comment he did. Quietly, he said, watching the quill, “Whatever you're doing with him, keep it up. It's working in that you're getting him to listen then do what you want. He wouldn't for anyone else, even me.”“I plan to,” Sirius told him quietly, still rocking the two of them, stroking Harry's head.Watching what Black was doing, he asked, not wanting details, “This is helping?”“More than any of you know,” Sirius told him softly. “It's odd and he doesn't want anyone seeing it, obviously, but it is something that helps and relaxes him. I don't have a problem with it either.” Giving the out cold Harry a squeeze, he then kissed him on the head, heartily cursing the pervert Vernon for making Harry endure something like this. He wanted revenge, but couldn't get it and knew that. It didn't mean he wouldn't invent things in his head that he wanted to do to the pig of a man.“If it does, that's all that matters,” Severus gruffed softly. He could easily understand why Harry responded to it. It was a way that he knew he was protected by someone that would do anything for him and receive a form of comfort that Severus doubted he could remember ever getting. That wasn't a bad thing with all Harry was dealing with.
Passing over the results of the scan to Black almost an hour later, Severus sighed, “Lucius was right; there is plenty of scarring that is probably causing him all kinds of issues. Which we need to tend to for plenty of reasons, not the least of which is so he doesn't have problems in the future.”
Still rocking Harry, despite the fact that he was out cold, holding him close, Sirius examined the parchment. Though he didn't understand most of what was written there, he saw the diagram of where the scars were and how it was mapped out. Shaking his head, he sighed, “You can come up with something for this, right? Or do we need to try to go about it another way?”“I'll come up with something. Give me a couple of days. On part of it, the external, I know what to give you. That I'll send over tomorrow. It's my thought that there is one you should use after intercourse. That way the damage doesn't grow worse until we can start healing this. For the internal, I'm going to see someone I know, a Healer. If I lay this out and show him the scans, without the name on them of course, he'll tell me which one to brew up. I'm not sure on that as there are a couple I can think of that would work. Someone like him would know best. In the end, we can fix this.”Nodding slowly, glancing once more at the parchment, Sirius handed it back. “Do you see any major damage there that we need to get fixed? I didn't, but I'm not sure about some of what's written.”“Not that I can tell, thankfully,” Severus told him after taking it back and looking it over again. “That's also something I'll have him look at. The readings don't seem to indicate anything we need to concern ourselves with. Let's see what he says there as well.” Changing topics, looking back at the sleeping Harry, he asked, “He's not upset with Lucius over this, is he? It was done for his own good and Lucius was concerned about him.”“No,” Sirius said with a shake of his head. “I talked with him about that and he's fine. There might have been some, but he realizes now why Lucius said something. I also made it clear that anything like this is part of our responsibility to him. That, more than anything, seemed to have defused whatever was there.”“Perfect,” Severus told him, pleased.Sitting there, he watched Black rock the sleeping young wizard, rubbing his back and holding him. For the first time since he had known Harry, he realized that the edge all of them were afraid he was on was something he was backing away from. Black was doing the best job of getting him away from it and keeping him there that anyone could hope for. Lucius probably was as well, but Black, with all he did for Harry and how he went about it, was what Harry needed more than anything in the world. What he now saw wasn't the angry young man that looked like he might follow the same path as Voldemort, but a teenager who, though dealing with his problems in a way some would think as perverse, was getting what he desperately needed for the first time in his life. And it was from someone that only cared about him. Perfect. Utterly perfect. He vowed he would do all he could so it would continue as well.Shaking his head and clearing his throat softly, Severus said, “Whatever you're doing is working. In the past, he would have fought even me over this then been irate at Lucius for saying something. This is—the biggest change I've seen in him since he started school. The anger is going away as he's focused elsewhere, on you. Keep it up. All of it. Lupin and I will as well.”“I will,” Sirius told him, smiling a little and kissing Harry on top of his head. “Nothing or no one, I don't give a shite their agenda is going to deter that. They'll tangle with me if they do.”“I think you can add Lupin, myself and Lucius to that as well,” Severus told him, pleased. Standing, he said, “Let me go fill Lupin in then see what I can manage when it comes to getting in touch with the Healer. If I find out anything you need to know, I'll come back over.” Seeing Black nod, he swept out, feeling a relief he hadn't in a very long time.Watching Snape leave then the door shut, Sirius looked down at Harry. Smiling, he gave him a gentle squeeze then said, softly, “Daddy has you, Harry. You're safe. Just rest.” Leaning his head back and shutting his eyes, he gave a soft sigh. This was good. At least he had the confirmation that this was going in the direction they needed it to. Good. Now he just had to worry about what was coming. With this in place, he thought he could handle it. So, he would press on just how he was.
