Mrs. Weasley sighed as she looked at the picture of Dumbledore, “You’ll owe me for this, love.” She said with a chilling smile …

“Ready?” Harry asked as he, Hermione and Sam finished dressing in some formal robes.
Hermione nodded shakily, “Honestly, I almost feel Gringotts works too fast, but yes.” She said and sent Harry a nervous smile. They talked about things and thankfully Harry was willing to forgive her. Admittedly, she felt horrible about it and only felt worse as the reality sank in.
Sam hummed in thought, “I see what you mean. A lot has changed in less than two days … do either of you want to see him beforehand?”
“Merlin no.” A very unnerved Hermione gasped. “If you guys want to, that's your decision, but I can’t. It’s too much.”
Harry sighed, “Yeah. Let’s warn Professor McGonagall before we use this portkey.” Harry said as he picked up a letter that was addressed to them. The letter, which was dropped off by Quirinus, had a Gringotts seal and came with a charmed wooden dragon figure. It was an invite to witness the execution of one Albus Dumbledore.
Waiting right outside of the entrance of the gryffindor dorm was a turban clad Quirinus looked at them, “Y-You all k-know you don’t have t-to go, r-right?” He asked purely for Hermione’s benefit. When no one answered the group went down the halls and up to what was Dumbledore’s former office. When they went in they found Minerva McGonagall behind the desk. “W-we wanted t-to tell you that we’re g-going to the execution.”
“What?!” Minerva’s head shot up out of the papers she was skimming through and stared at the three students. “I do not-“
“As long as you understand what you will see then that’s fine. Take care.” The sorting hat yelled effectively cutting Minerva off.
Minerva’s jaw dropped, but since the witch and wizards already left so she focused her rage on the hat, “You can’t be ok with letting our students go to that!” Minerva snapped at the sorting hat who was now free from his glass case.
The sorting hat scoffed, “Of course not. Who would want someone to watch a person dying by dragon fire? Unfortunately, Sam, Harry and Hermione are adults and they have a right to leave. As much as you love controlling your students like pawns-“
I do not! How dare you imply such a thing!” Minerva exclaimed, deeply offended.
“Oh really?” The hat grumbled. “I know just from the one time I’ve been in every child’s head that most of the students on the quidditch team, at any year, did not want to be there. Can you really think of one person you didn’t have to persuade to play your bone breaking game?” Minerva was left floundering for an answer. “A terrible trend of leaders for this school.”
“Maybe you should be the headmaster if you think you can do better!” Minerva snapped. She wasn’t serious. It was a joke more than anything. It’s not like the hat could take that title.
The sorting hat’s ribbon tapped rim in thought, “You know what. I accept!” Much to Minerva’s shock the hat glowed and the headmaster desk booted her out. The chair turned into a proper hat perch and the hat was politely floated over by some magic from Hogwarts itself. “I have been a part of this school since the beginning so it’s about time I took care of it … I’ll start with new staff members. I never liked how few teachers there were for the students we have and I bet Severus would like a chance to leave. He never liked teaching and right now his rather harsh style isn’t what these kids need.”
By the time a baffled Minerva stood up from where she was dumped on the floor and dusted herself off there was a pile of files on the desk, “You can’t hire-“
“You think it’s a bad idea to hire those who were falsely accused?” The sorting hat immediately countered the empty argument against the people whose pictures were now on the hat’s desk. “Besides, I believe we need a mind healer on staff after this, don’t you agree?”
“I suppose.” Minerva said reluctantly.
“Glad you agree. Now, as my deputy headmistress, would you care to represent Hogwarts by writing the invitations for these people or shall I?” The hat offered as he picked a few files.
Minerva frowned sceptically, but took the files, “Very well.”
The hat nodded, “That will give me a chance to review the things we are currently teaching here.” Minerva saw a pile appear on the desk as she was about to leave, but turned when she heard a shocking statement. “This is it?! This is less than a quarter of the information kids learned back in the founders’ days!”
A very curious Minerva went over to discuss exactly what the hat meant. After only a few minutes they realized that a great deal of information has disappeared. Not a slow dwindling since Hogwarts began either. When they looked up records from the past years it became clear that things have changed dramatically since Dumbledore became headmaster.

Peter hid in his human form and waited in Gringotts with Vesta, Lucius and Severus. Once they spotted Harry, Hermione, Quirinus and Sam they followed behind under an illusion. The hidden group followed deeper into the bank until Harry’s group was stopped by a wooden door that was guarded by a goblin.
“Do you have your invitation and the portkey that brought you here?” The goblin sneered. Harry nodded and handed both items over. “Very good. Now for safety purposes you will be seated in separate pairs. Who would like to sit together?”
Quirinus frowned, “I-if Ms. G-Granger would like I could sit with h-her.”
Hermione glanced at Harry and Sam and nodded, “I am ok with that.”
“Good. You two can go in first and Lord Potter will follow with his companion.” The heavy door opened to allow Hermione and Quirinus into the dark passage. Once they were gone the goblin shut the door. “As agreed your door is this way. Best possible seats if you ask me.” The goblin smirked as the illusion dropped revealing three more wizards and a fox behind Harry and Sam.
With a simple tap of a claw the stones on a different wall moved aside to show a staircase. As they followed the goblin down the hidden staircase, the rune disguises were removed. By the time they reached the tunnel at the end of the staircase Sam became Tom.
“The gate is right there.” The goblin said while pointing at the large metal gate. “Everything starts at the sound of the horn.” He said as he went back up the staircase.
Peter looked at the scorch marks on the walls of the tunnel and gate, “I always wondered what happened at these executions. Anyway, I picked up some things for you guys. Gringotts did an awesome job replicating them … with my suggested tweaks, of course..” He said excitedly as he pulled a bag out of his pocket.
Tom raised an eyebrow, “Replicate? What would-“ Tom’s jaw dropped as Peter pulled each item out. “They’re perfect.” He said with a smirk.
Peter grinned, “I thought you’d like them. Now who wants which item?”

Albus Dumbledore calmly sat in his cell waiting almost smugly, “Is it time?” He asked Goresnare, who entered the dungeon with a team of goblins.
“It is. Do you wish to say anything or talk to someone beforehand?” Goresnare offered.
“No. I’m ready to move to my next stage in life.” Dumbledore said as he stood and went over to the wooden cell bars.
Goresnare nodded, “Please put your hands through the opening.” He ordered as the wooden bars flexed just enough so Dumbledore could put both arms through one slot.
After doing so the goblins attached long heavy black chains to the magic blocking restraints on each wrist. With the chains were secured the bars spread even wider allowing Dumbledore to easily walk out. In complete silence the goblins guided their chained prisoner through the dungeon until they reached a blank wall.
Three taps on the stones with Goresnare’s long claw made the stones move aside. A staircase was revealed and the prisoner was guided down the steps. At the end they came to a small stone room with a metal door.
“Open the gate.” Goresnare ordered one of the goblins who weren’t holding Dumbledore’s chains.
Moving quickly the goblin unlatched the bolt on the door and used magic to slide to heavy door open. The slight creaking sound echoed in the room, but it soon was followed by the sound of footsteps as the goblins guided Dumbledore through the doorway.
Dumbledore casually looked around the underground arena. As he was taken to the center of the arena he spotted a very much living Hermione, which surprised him slightly, and many others in the audience. The people were seated in pairs and each pair were in separate safety booths behind a clear shield. They couldn’t see anyone in the other booths, but all the hate filled eyes were on him. It would be an experience that affects most people, but Dumbledore could only sigh in boredom. Even the sound of the other ends of his chains being locked down to the mental hoops on the arena floor so he couldn’t run and the footsteps of the goblins leaving barely fazed him.
Only the sound of the horn and the opening of the metal gate on the other end of the arena got any reaction. In fact, a smile appeared on the old wizard’s lips as the large dark green dragon strode out with a ferocious roar. The gold eyes locked on Dumbledore and it strode towards him.
Dumbledore smirked as the beast got closer, “Time to begin again.”
“No!” Someone yelled on one side of the arena only for a massive muzzle and net to be shot towards the dragon with a loud bang.
It was none other than Molly Weasley flying on a broom out of the chaos and throwing spells at everyone who moved. She glanced at the trapped thrashing dragon and smirked before landing in the center of the arena. As she turned her back to point her wand at Albus’ chains everything changed. It started with the sound of chainmail and something heavy hitting ground.
“How is that possible?! Never mind, I can still save you and we can get Ginny” Molly shrieked when, much to her horror, the dragon had somehow removed the muzzle and chainmail net off and was charging towards her.
Dumbledore sighed as women frantically tried to free him, “I see where your foolish brat got his stupidity. You’re just as useless.”
Molly froze and looked at him. It was such a horrid thing to say. For a split second she considered actually killing the wizard she gave so much for, but she never got that chance. Just before the dragon was on both of them the goblins fired enchanted ropes at Molly. The witch drew the dragon’s attention as she was dragged out of the arena screaming wildly.
Finally, after Molly was arrested and gagged, the dragon focused all of its attention on Dumbledore. The powerful beast moved gracefully up to the wizard and that’s when things changed. Dumbledore suddenly felt a shift in the air and the dragon was done. In its place was a little black fox and five people.
“Severus? Harry? Peter? Lucius? … Sam?” A puzzled Dumbledore murmured as he looked at each person wondering why they were there and why each looked different in some way? Severus and Lucius definitely looked younger and Sam reminded him of someone, but couldn’t figure out who …
Tom scoffed, “Sam … yes, I did use that name, but I went by another. You knew it. Myrtle knew it too.” He said and a smile crept onto his lips as Dumbledore’s eyes widened.
“Tom? How- …” Dumbledore jumped slightly as a familiar looking snitch flew right in his face showing off the emeralds that made an ‘S’ on its surface. The old wizard’s eyes followed the snitch to Harry. That’s when Dumbledore focused on the sword Harry, who was next to Tom, was holding. It was immediately identified as the Gryffindor sword, but with one difference. The hilt had a green stone in the center …
Before Dumbledore could comprehend what that meant the snitch moved to Tom’s hand. To be precise, it was hovering over Tom’s right middle finger where a familiar ring was worn. Dumbledore thought for a second it was his father’s ring, but the gold was replaced with silver and the subtle red details were now green.
In a daze Dumbledore’s eyes followed the snitch to Severus’ chest. Hanging on the pale neck was a perfect replica of the Hallow’s necklace, but with a little addition. The little ring that should connect the pendant to the chain was now an emerald.
A snitch … a ring … a necklace … a sword …
Just as Dumbledore realized the message he felt a shift in the air. The five wizards and fox were replaced by the dragon. As the dragon reared its head back Dumbledore could hear the slight sound of an incarnation being said. The very incarnation for a very powerful fire spell …
Dumbledore lost all of the color in his face as well as all of his smugness and he started thrashing against his chains, “No! I refuse to die! You can’t do this to me! I want a trial-“
The flames consumed him and, after several moments, his screams were silenced …

Quirinus let a smirk come to his lips and touched the necklace around his neck, which was Myrtle’s old necklace, as he saw the dragon being coaxed back into the tunnel it came out of. (Vesta seems to be having fun playing dragon. Wish I could’ve joined, but someone needed to stay.) he thought as he glanced towards the witch seated next to him. Hermione was staring at the ashes in the middle of the arena and she looked very shaken. She was so unsettled that he reached over and touched her shoulder comfortingly.
“I’m … I’m ok, professor.” Hermione gasped after taking a deep shaky breath. “We should go, right? I’m worried about Ginny now.”
“Yes.” Quirinus nodded and they got up to leave their booth.
They walked down the hallway and met a few other people as they left their own booths. “Harry, Sam … you ok?” Hermione asked once she walked out the entrance and saw the pair.
Harry gave a soft smile as he hugged Sam, “We will be ...Ginny?” He noticed Goresnare coming towards them with a clearly heartbroken Ginny Weasley. The redheaded witch immediately hugged Hermione and began crying.
“Mrs. Weasley is in our custody so Ginny is free to leave.” Goresnare said as he looked at Quirinus. “I contacted her father and told him what happened. He’ll be here in a minute and we can discuss how to handle things including seeing that you’re all scheduled for a mind healer.”
Harry frowned, “What exactly did happen? How did Mrs. Weasley get in the arena?”
“Due to a change in plans there was a miscommunication with our team that cares for our dragons.” The goblin said casually taking note of ‘Sam’ and Harry’s sharp twitches. No doubt the wizards realized that it was the changes the goblins made for them that caused the mixup. “It had to be done, but she took advantage of it and used her son, Charlie Weasley’s, equipment and identification to slip in the bank as a dragon tamer that would assist in the execution.”
“Ginny!” Everyone looked up to see Arthur running over to them. When Ginny ran over and hugged her father, Hermione turned to them.
“I’ll be serving my punishment here along with Hagrid. We won’t be back for the rest of the year.” Hermione said sadly.
“You and Hagrid?” Harry asked, somewhat surprised about that news.
“Yes. He wasn’t aware of anything unlike me, but he never had the right to do the things Dumbledore asked of him, like taking you from Sirius or not giving you your vault key, so he is still an accomplice … I should go. I’ll try to stay in touch, ok?” She suggested and smiled when Harry and ‘Sam’ seemed alright with that. After hugging them she went over to comfort Ginny leaving Harry, Quirinus and ‘Sam’ with the goblin.
Goresnare sneered, “Had that been a real dragon Molly’s attempt to free Dumbledore might’ve succeeded.”
Tom hummed in agreement as he watched Arthur, “Could I ask you how Molly could betray him.”
The goblin sighed, “Promises and the right words can be even more powerful than potions.” He commented before going over to speak with the father and the two witches.
Harry frowned at the sad bit of information, but smiled as he felt an invisible furry thing nuzzle his leg, “Vesta, you were impressive.” Harry said knowing the little fox was right behind him and Tom and was currently hiding Severus, Lucius and Peter under an illusion. “So what’s next?” Despite the illusion Harry felt two pairs of arms wrap around him as Tom kissed his cheek.

Years later the sorting hat smiled proudly as he looked out at the many students from the top of a floating perch as he and his staff walked through the castle. It took a few years, but all the information Dumbledore tried to squirrel away for himself was recovered. Conveniently many books were found by Harry Potter in the depths of the school and the collection was called ‘The Myrtle Collection’.
“You know, headmaster. In only a few years you’ll have several Potters in this school. Maybe a new mini Longbottom, Quirrell and a Pettigrew.” Alecto and Amycus said together.
“I look forward to it!” The hat beamed at the twins who took Quirinus and Severus’ place as the DADA and Potions professor. “How is the potion shop going by the way?”
Rabastan, Hogwarts’ mind healer, grinned, “It’s doing wonderfully! It helps that they have an endless, if not a little spoiled, source of basilisk venom.” He said hinting that Tom took Debora out of the castle the second he had the chance. “Harry, Tom and Severus greatly enjoy running the shop. Lucius is enjoying pregnancy too much to worry about that, but he says if you need him to put anymore wards up then you just need to ask.”
The hat glanced out the window at the Forbidden Forest, “Perhaps. For now I’m just happy that no more students can just wander around the forest … or the castle.” He muttered as he saw the little army of kneazles doing their own surveillance. “Things are looking up … even if it’s not peaceful. No fighting!” He yelled as an argument broke out amongst a few students. The hat and professors quickly stepped in though.
As the Hogwarts’ staff took care of everything there they missed the sneaky fox taking a peek at the school. The black fox seemed to vanish only for it to reappear minutes later in the Malfoy manor.
Harry grabbed a crying child and smiled at Vesta, “Still using the cabinet?” Vesta nodded making Harry laugh. “Just keep it sealed so no one can follow you-ok, ok!” He rolled his eyes as the kid whined. “He accidentally made his plush dragon disappear.”
In an instant the fox made a green plush dragon spear out of thin air and fly around the room. It kept the child very happy and gave them time to find the real one. They loved the challenge of raising their many children. Merlin knows they’ve handled much scarier and less fun challenges before and they’d do it again if they ever need to protect their family.
Lucius, who had a noticeably swollen belly and was relaxing in a floating chair, looked at Harry, “Severus and Lily,” he smiled in amusement as a 5 year old girl following Severus like a ducking went by. ‘“Anyway, they couldn’t find it in the store or cellar. I checked the higher nooks and crannies, but nothing.”
“I’ll check the rooms upstairs. If we can’t find it we can ask the elves after they finish cooking.” Harry chuckled as the fussy boy in his arms reached for Lucius. “Do you want to sit with your mommy?” He asked and handed the child over to Lucius. The fox curled up on Lucius’ shoulder to keep the illusion of the plush active as the child bounced happily on Lucius’ lap.
After watching the cut trio float away Harry went upstairs. The missing plush wasn’t in any of the bedrooms or other rooms or even Lucius’ office. There was only one room left and that was what was now Tom’s office. He went over and knocked on the door even though tom was probably only going over the apothecary’s financial statements.
“Come in.” Harry opened the door and smiled as he found Tom holding two sleeping babies. “I just fed Mary and Myrtle.”
Harry went over to the desk and kissed Tom, “Jamie lost his plush dragon.” He whispered while smiling at the two cute babies.
“Actually I heard something up there, but I couldn’t stop feeding these two to check.” Tom said as he looked up on top of the highest shelf of the bookcase behind his desk.
Harry cast a spell making the items on that shelf float down. One of those items was a plush dragon. Just as they were about to leave Harry spotted a book laying open on Tom’s desk.
“You shouldn’t leave your diary around with our little munchkins running around.” Harry warned lightly. It was just a new journal that Tom liked keeping his thoughts in, but even though it was harmless the kids might make it disappear for fun.
“Worked out ok when a child found my last one.” Tom said softly with a smile at his husband before they went to join their ever growing family ...
