R.A.B. - Hello Minnie

Bardock woke with a start as Harry woke up panicking. “Shhh… Shhh cub…” Bardock sat up then hugged the panicked teen and pet his hair. He pulled Harry’s face to his neck and cooed softly “It’s alright cub… It’s alright Harry…” After a moment, he heard Harry mumble something. Bardock pulled back and looked down, his hands on Harry’s shoulders “What was that?”

Harry stared down at nothing as he murmured “Is it really going to be alright…?”

Bardock absently moved his thumb along Harry’s shoulder then sighed and shook his head “I can’t answer that Harry. I don’t think anyone can.” He held Harry’s chin between his thumb and pointer finger to tilt the teens face to him. Bardock studied the far away look in the boy’s eyes then said softly “Of all the people who can pull through this Harry, I know you can. You’re strong.” Harry lifted his eyes to look at Bardock’s. The Saiyan smiled wearily “You’ve got a lot of people who care about you Harry. You don’t have to go through this alone. They’ll all be there beside you through this bullshit.” his removed his hand from Harry’s chin and put it back on his shoulder “I’ll be there for you Harry Potter.” Harry nodded, his eyes flashing with a bit of hope. Bardock’s brow frowned slightly “I couldn’t sense you in the school or on the grounds earlier Harry, where do you go?”

Harry looked away and clenched his fists “I was with… Dumbledore…” When Harry opened his mouth again, he told Bardock of the Horcruxes, what they were and what he and Dumbledore did in the cave.

Bardock was silent as Harry spoke, his expression neutral as he absorbed what he was being told. When Harry was finished, trailing off when Harry told of Snape betrayal, Bardock sighed and nodded “I see.” he stood up and stretched “Come on Harry. I can sense your friends in that tower. I think they’re waiting for you.” Bardock threw on a new pair of boxers since who knows how long he’s been in those, a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. He went in front of his mirror and tied his red cloth around his head like a bandana then looked over at Harry who was sitting on the edge of the bed “Let’s go. Don’t want to worry them.” Harry nodded then stood up. The two of them left the room then Bardock surprised Harry by putting his arm around his waist and flying out of the castle and too where he sensed the students. When he landed, he let go of Harry and nodded to the students “Granger, Weasley.” they both eyed his warily but nodded in greeting. Bardock smiled then walked forwards “Gohan.”

Gohan stood up from where he’d been sitting next to Ron “Ojiisan!” he hugged Bardock tightly and inhaled the man’s scent deeply.

Bardock nuzzled Gohan’s neck then let go and looked to the green alien standing nearby “Piccolo.”

Said Namek nodded shortly “Bardock.”

The scar-faced Saiyan looked at Gohan then asked “Where’s my son?”

Gohan rubbed his arm “Um, he’s-”

Everyone yelped when Goku suddenly appeared. Goku looked around sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head “Sorry!”

Bardock cackled “No harm done cub.” he tilted his head “So, where were you?”

Goku’s tail flicked nervously “Uh… Vegeta wanted to go see Veget and…”

“Draco.” Harry said and Goku nodded. Harry surprised everyone by smiling softly “It’s alright Goku, I’m… not mad at him. He was lowering his wand and…” his smile dropped and he looked down “He’s as much of a victim as the rest of us in this war.”

Goku sighed “Thanks Harry.”

Gohan leaned against Piccolo who put his arms around Gohan’s waist “Oh, Otousan. Mirai wanted me to tell you that he left school early to go see the twins. He wanted to tell them what happened.”

Goku nodded “Alright, I get that.” Goku looked at Harry expectantly “Oh, Harry, how did that thing you and Dumbledore were going to do go?”

Harry’s expression turned dark as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a locket “It’s… fake…”

Piccolo stepped away from Gohan and extended his hand “May I examine it?” Harry nodded and handed the large alien the locket. Piccolo ran his fingers over the snake picture under the clear crystal then opened it. He frowned slightly at the folded up paper then took it out. He closed the locket then unwrapped the paper. When Piccolo opened his mouth, the room went silent as he rumbled in his bass voice “To the Dark Lord. I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more. R.A.B.” Piccolo’s frown deepened “R.A.B.?”

Goku frowned as well and Gohan shrugged “Obviously someone’s initials. Could be anyone though.”

Bardock put his hands on his hips “Hnn… R… A… B?” he crossed his arms and gruffed “Don’t recall anyone in that lizard’s group that has those initials so that’s out as far as I’m concerned.”

Hermione looked at Harry “We’ll figure it out Harry.”

Harry walked over to the handrails and gripped them. He was silent for a moment then said “I’m not coming back.”

Bardock frowned “Why not?”

“I have to finish what Dumbledore started. I’m not sure where that will lead me... but I’ll let you guys know where I am, when I can.”

Piccolo handed Gohan the paper and locket to examine then crossed his arms “I’ve always admired your courage Potter.” He raised an eye ridge “However, you can be very idiotic sometimes.” Harry turned around to look at the green alien in surprise and Piccolo smirked.

Gohan walked up next to Harry and smiled “You don’t really think you can find all those Horcruxes by yourself do you?”

Bardock smirked and punched his palm “Who’s going to keep your nose out of too much trouble? Besides, this could be a really cool story to tell Veget when he grows up.”

Harry chuckled “Yeah, I guess.”

Goku grinned widely and pumped his fist “I know it’s supposed to be a war and stuff but I can’t wait!” he smirked “I can’t wait to get my hands on some Death Eater baddies.”

Bardock rolled his eyes “You and me both cub.” he blinked then looked at his upper bicep, his eyebrows raising in surprise. “Huh… Look at that…”

Gohan tilted his head “What?”

Bardock ran his hand over his bicep “I used to have a tattoo thing here. Me, Bart and Worm got matching ones when I first got here all those years ago. It’s gone.” he snorted then crossed his arms “Good riddance.” he then sighed “Though I do miss Barty Junior sometimes. He was a great guy.”

Hermione stared at Bardock “H-He was a murderer and psychopath!”

Bardock grinned “Yup. He and I had some weird ass conversations. You do realize he was basically my only friend right? This was back when my race was slaughtered and I was willingly doing the Dark Lord’s bidding.” he scowled “I’d never get one of those dark marks though.” he then looked up thoughtfully “Although… I did like the look of tattoos in general…”

Harry rolled his eyes in amusement while Hermione and Ron gawked at the scarred man. “So your done with him? Free technically?”

Bardock nodded “Yup. I learned my lesson.” he smirked at Goku “Don’t trust a tyrant lizard with a huge ego.”

Goku laughed “Yeah, that’s about right.”

“I’m surprised you didn’t connect those dots earlier Bardock.” Piccolo rumbled.

Bardock shrugged “You do crazy shit when you lose someone you love.” he looked at the door then paled “Uh… I guess Ima go talk to Minnie now…”

“Minnie?” Ron asked in confusion.

Bardoc laughed sheepishly, scratching the back of his head “Ah, Minerva.” he rustled Harry’s hair then patted his cub’s shoulder “I’ll see you guys later… maybe… hopefully...?” he sighed then shoved his hands into his pockets and walked out of the room.

Goku looked after his father and sighed “I hope McGonagall isn’t that rough on him. He’s been through enough.” he blinked then looked at Ron “Hey Ron? Would Molly mind if Veget and Vegeta started living at your house? We’ll figure something out so we don’t take up so much room but we’re thinking of making a cabin somewhere nearby.” his expression turned sad “We want to get Draco out of there. Vegeta says he doesn’t like how it feels in that house anymore. Feels poisoned.”

Ron stood up and put hand on Goku’s forearm “We’ll see what we can do.” he smiled “I doubt Mum’ll say no to having little Veget around. She’s basically claimed herself Veget’s unofficial Godmother and aunt.”

Hermione giggled “Yeah, that’s about right. She’d be ecstatic to take you guys in and see Veget more often.”

Goku chuckled “Yeah, she seems to really love the little guy.” Goku went over to Harry who looked spaced out and put a supportive hand on his shoulder. Harry looked up at Goku who smiled “We’re in this together Harry. Yeah?”

Harry looked at everyone’s faces before turning back and smiling with a nod “Yeah, we are.”

Bardock took a deep breath before opening the door to the Headmaster’s office. He saw that Minerva was looking sadly up at Dumbledore’s sleeping portrait. Bardock sighed, startling her. “I miss him already.”

Minerva raised a thin brow “How?”

Bardock cleared his throat “I think you’d better sit down Minnie.”

“M-Minnie…?” McGonagall’s brow furrowed “I’ve only heard…” her eyes slowly widened.

“Ah, as I said, you might wanna sit.” Bardock watched as the stunned looking teacher slowly sat down, her eyes not leaving Bardock.

Minerva watched Bardock sit down then she said hesitantly “Karc… Karcdob…?”

Bardock smiled sheepishly “Heya Minnie.” he rubbed his arm “Lemme just start by saying I’m sorry for lyin all this time.” he looked down “I-If it’s all the same to you I’d love to keep teaching. I love doing it. I… I won’t be upset if you say no. I’d understand.” Bardock looked back up with sad eyes “I want to be here for the kids if the war is going to be how I think it is.” his tail flicked to the left and he murmured “Besides… Hogwarts is…. It’s my home…”

McGonagall was silent for a long time, so long that Bardock began to fidget nervously. Bardock looked up when Minerva stood up, her wand in hand. “You did the Dark Lord’s bidding.” Minerva stated “You lied to us for almost four years. You earned everyone respect. So many students looked up to you as a prominent figure in their lives.” her eyes looked sharply at Bardock as she stood in front of him “You lied to everyone of who you are. Merlin knows how many other lies you’ve fed us over the years.” Bardock shut his eyes and flinched, preparing for a spell to hit him. Instead, his eyes opened and widened when he felt hand on his head. The Saiyan looked up in surprise to see Minerva smiling softly “And yet, I feel no anger towards you Bardock.”

“Min…” Bardock breathed out “I-If it’s any consolation, I was technically myself as Karcdob.”

McGonagall retracted her hand “Oh?”

Bardock stood up and smiled crookedly “Yeah. Karcdob Tsarschild is anagram to my name and rank: Bardock Third Class. I’m still the take no shit guy who had to put up with a pink bitch called Dolores. I’m still the teacher who assisted Harry and his friends in that DA club last year.”

Minerva chuckled “Yes, I can see that now.” she walked back around to the desk and stood behind it. “It won’t be easy.”

Bardock smirked “Wouldn’t have it any other way. You think I don’t know what I’m getting into? Let me let you in on a little Saiyan secret Minerva.” he flashed his fangs in a wide grin “A Saiyan gets stronger every time he almost dies. Who knows how many times I’ve almost died when I was being tortured under Voldebitch?” he cracked his knuckles “I can feel it in my Ki that I’m a hell lot stronger than before. I’ll make sure no student or teacher dies in this school.” he put his hands out “Besides, isn’t that a Security Guard’s job?”

Minerva looked over her glasses at the Saiyan “I’ll hold you to that Bardock.” she sighed then nodded “Have a good day Bardock. I’ll see you soon.”

Bardock grinned and nodded “You sure will.” Bardock walked out of the office then sighed, rubbing the back of his neck “I need a smoke…”
