This is only a short chapter. I hope it up to scratch. I thought that Remus deserved one to himself. Well he demanded it actually. Said he didn�t get enough lines in Harry�s third year. J

Chapter 36 Full Moon

Nina stepped out of the shower and dried of. She donned trainers, jeans, t-shirt and a jumper. Kali fastened her hair in a long braid for her and Nina picked up a warm black woollen coat.

�I�m ready Kali.�

�I knows it Miss Nina. I is wishing you good luck, though I knows you isn�t needing it.�
�Thanks Kali. It might be a good idea to put a calming spell or something on Severus when I go. He�s not happy about this.�
�I knows that Miss but don�t you be worrying. He�s not being alone tonight.�

Nina appeared in Severus study and was surprised to see Albus, the Weasley�s, Kingsley and Tonks there also. More surprised then she had been at the crowd in the Headmasters office this morning.
Once all the greetings were out of the way, Nina motioned for Severus to go into the bedroom.

Once in she turned to him.

�What are they all doing here? I thought we agreed. No interference.�

�Do not blame me. Albus thinks it is better if that we are all together as we await your return. I had no say in the matter. Although I do admit that it is better then pacing the floor on my own for the next however many hours.�
�Fair enough. Severus?�

�Yes?�

�I love you.�
Severus could feel the tears pricking at his eyes when she said those words.
He took hold of her and held her like he never wanted to let her go. Which of course he didn�t.

�I love you too little bird.� He told her.
They had one more passionate kiss and came up for breath.
�You have the potion and the whisker ready?�
�I do. It is waiting for you in my lab.�

�Come on then. I have to meet Mr Lupin soon.�
Together they entered the study and walked across to the entrance to Severus� private laboratory.

�Wait here.� He told her once the door was closed behind them.

He collected the bottle of Wolfsbane and the tube with the half whisker inside and put them on the counter beside him.

�Come here.� He told her.
As Nina took the two steps require to reach him he pulled a black velvet covered box from his pocket and handed it to her.
�What is it?�

�A gift. For you.�

�A gift? But I�ve never had��

�Open it.�

Nina did. Inside was a solid silver chain. It was not made from links. Instead it took the form of a long serpent. It�s jaws clamped around the tip of it�s tail. The eyes were vivid crimson in colour with tiny gold speckles in them. They were made with pieces from the Chinese Fireball eggshell that she had given to him.

�I�.I don�t know what�.how to say�. It�.It�s beautiful. I��
�Then say nothing.� He told her as he fastened it round her neck. �Instead show me. Tonight. When you keep your promise and return to me.�
�Thank you.� She whispered as she gave him one last hug. I have to go.�

Nina wiped her eyes on her sleeve as she turned.
�Urgh that�s disgusting.� He told her wrinkling his nose and handing her a clean handkerchief., the potion and the whisker.
�Sorry. Thanks.�

Once back in the study, everyone turned to them.
Straight away Molly pulled her onto a motherly hug.

�Now you be sure and come back to us in one piece young lady. You hear me.�
�I will Mrs Weasley. Please don�t cry.�

�I have every right to cry if I want.� Molly gave her one more hug and Nina turned to Severus with pleading eyes. She could not handle it if they all were like Mrs Weasley.
He understood. He gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze and nodded at her.

Nina disappeared.
She was standing in the shadows near a small group of trees when Remus staggered up to her.

It was obvious that he was trying to resist the pull she had on him. But it was almost tome for the moon to rise and he was very close to the change.

When Albus had told him that fastening himself away would not work he had nearly gone out of his mind.

Now he was here and he could smell her, taste her almost.

Nina looked at the darkened sky and saw the faintest edge of the moon.

She added the half whisker to the potion and waited a second until it had dissolved before holding out the bottle.

�You must drink this now. It is time Remus.�
He growled. Low and deep in his throat. His senses were overtaking him at the smell of human.
�DRINK.� She ordered him, her eyes never wavering from his for a moment.
Something in her command struck a cord in Remus and he took the bottle in a trembling hand.

Nina kept hold of his hand as she helped guide it to his mouth. I would do no good for him to spill it before he could drink. Remus� eyes had rolled back into his head but Nina kept a firm grip on his hand, making sure that he took every last drop.

Remus felt no pain during his change as Nina kept contact with him all the time.

He stood on his hind legs and looked down at her as the human side re entered his mind. Then he through back his head and howled.
In Severus� study it took five men to hold the Potions Master in his seat when he heard that howl. They had all heard it and frozen at the sound. Each chilled to the bone.

Severus though had jumped from his seat and headed for the door at a run, intent on getting outside and going to find Nina.

His sudden dash has brought the others out of their stupor and as one, they had grabbed the shouting, raging, furiously mad Professor and wrestled him into a chair. It took several binding spells to finally hold him down. Albus eventually had to render him unconscious with another spell before the whole school heard him shouting and cursing.
Nina put her hand to Remus� head and scratched him behind his ears. He had dropped down on all fours after his howl of frustration. He was terrified of what he could do to her.

Keeping her hand on his head she told him. �It�s alright Remus. You have to trust me. Now think. Think of the place where you were first attacked as a child. Think of nothing else. Only where.�
They were standing in a lane at the edge of a large wood. It was not nearly so big as the Forbidden Forest. But it was still big enough to get lost in.

Nina looked up the lane, She could see lights in the distance. Is that where you are from?�

He whimpered sadly.

�And it this the exact spot where you were attacked?�

Remus shook his head and took a few steps into the trees, waiting for Nina to follow.

They had not gone far when he stopped inside a small clearing. It was dark and she couldn�t see much.

Eye to eye with him again she put her hands to either side of his head.

�Remus. This will be painful for you but I need you to do exactly as I say. I want you to think of when you were attacked. The exact moment when he took you.�

Remus shook his head furiously and whimpered. He didn�t want to think about it. He had spent most of his waking life trying not to think about it.

�Remus you must.� She told him angrily. �The moment just before he bit you. Do it.�

Remus could not prevent himself as he remembered that night.

He new that he would get into trouble with his Dad. He was not supposed to be out after dark.
Nina was whispering to herself. The same words over and over.

�Vade Mecum. Vade Mecum. Vade mecum�

Go back with me

It was like a chant in his head as he remembered thinking that his dad would shout at him. He just wanted to find his ball first and he was sure that it was around here.
That cant was still in his head. What was it. He wanted to get his ball and go home. He saw it. It was in a clearing. He ran toward it, his hands out in front of him as he ran for the ball.

�Vade Mecum. Vade Mecum�

He didn�t reach his ball. He had run into something. No. Something had stepped in front of him.

He looked up. It was a big grey hairy something.

Remus hadn�t got a clue what it was but he felt a warm gush on his legs as he emptied his bladder in absolute terror. His mam would be mad about that.

The thing in front of him had ghastly red eyes and hit growled as it smelt the stench of urine.

It gripped his shoulders as it�s jaws opened impossibly wide. Its head was so close to Remus that he could see bits of what looked like flesh between it�s teeth and smell it�s putrid breath in his nostrils.

It picked up his small frame and wrenched Remus� head to one side as it went to take a bite of his young succulent flash.

Translatio Imperii. Veto. Relevare Statim.

Transfer of rule. I forbid. Relive Immediately.

The werewolf was at first so startled at her voice that he nearly dropped his prey. As her words continued he lowered the boy gently to the ground before turning to face her.
�Remus. Come to me.�

The child Remus looked at the great hulking beast in front of him and the pretty lady aver to his left and shot across the clearing to stand behind her.
Greyback was incensed. He howled his displeasure and then lowered his body, ready to charge at her.
She didn�t falter. Instead she opened her mouth and the most beautiful short burst of Phoenix song came from between her lips, causing Greyback to lift his head and listen, vague lustre over his eyes.
Nina looked at the werewolf in front of her before she spoke again.

Canis Esse Separatum�

Canaine to be separate

As Nina and Remus watched, the werewolf seemed to become smaller as at the same time it appeared to be separating from itself. To one side stood a very old man. He was stooped and withered, barely able to stand. He looked at them both startled.

To the other side, jumping about and yipping as it saw Remus� ball and ran to it, was the cutest puppy ever.

It bounded onto the ball and tumbled over it before getting up and shaking itself unsteadily. Then it saw Nina and ran to her.

She stooped and picked it up, giving it a fuss before passing it to a delighted Remus. The boys face lit up in pleasure.

Then she looked back at the old man. He seemed very confused.

She walked up to him and held out a walking cane.

�Here. You shall have nothing more from me. You are nothing but a harmless old man now. Go.�

Not waiting to see the old man hobble away she tuned back to the boy.

�Remus. We must go.�

The boy kept hold of the puppy as he came to stand in front of her.

She placed a hand to each of his cheeks and smiled. Placing a small kiss on his forehead she whispered

�Vini Vidi Vadi�

I came, I saw, I went

Adult Remus was bewildered for a moment when he found himself standing at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, Nina gently holding his cheeks, and a puppy in his arms.

Then he noticed that his hands were hands, his arms were arms and looking down that his legs, feet and body were his legs, feet and body.

Then he peered up into the sky. The moon was shining down on them bright and full.

He fell to his knees and then his back, taking the wriggling pup with him as he stared, mesmerised by the moon.

Nina bent and took the puppy from his arms, letting it go to have a run and play, maybe do it�s business. It did and Nina cleaned it up with a flick of her finger. �It wouldn�t be fair to leave it for Argus or Hagrid to find in the morning.� She thought.

The pup came bounding back to her and she retrieved it.

�Mr Lupin. It�s time to go in.�

�Look at the moon.� He whispered hoarsely. �It is a full moon.� He propped himself up on his elbows. �And I am a man. A true man.�

Remus stood and looked at himself again. �I really am a man aren�t I? I�m not imagining it?�

�No Mr Lupin. You are a true man. For all time.�

�A�A�All t�t�t�time?�
�Yes. You weren�t bitten. You are a normal man. Well, normal wizard anyway.�
He looked at incredulously and burst out laughing. He grabbed her and spun her around and hugged her and burst into tears.

�Nina. You are surely a gift from the Gods. You are amazing. I love you. Please. Marry me and have my babies. I shall worship you for the rest of our lives. Anything. Anything you say. Anything you want. I shall get it for you.�
�I think that Tonks would prefer that offer Mr Lupin. I think that she�s waited long enough don�t you?�

He stared into her eyes. �Tonks?�

�Yes Tonks. Small, Pretty, thinks the world of you, loves you to death. She�s waiting for you in Professor Snape�s study now. Probably worried out of her mind about you. Now go and get her will you and put me down.�
He hesitated for a moments he stared at the moon again and then Nina.

�There�ll be lots more of those in your life. Go on.�

At her words Remus turned an ran for the doors.

Nina put the puppy back down and followed in Remus� wake.

�Now what are we gonna do with you?�

She asked the little dog that was trotting after her happily. Its tongue hanging from the side of it�s mouth and it�s tail wagging madly.

When Remus entered the Potion Masters study at a run everyone flew out of their seats.

Including Severus who had been revived and released once that Albus though it would be safe to do so. He had not been happy at what Albus had done but at least he was in control of himself again.

When he saw Lupin come barging through the door, his eyes automatically looked beyond him for Nina. When she did not immediately appear his legs gave way and he fell back to his seat. Remus saw him and went directly to him.

�She will be here in a moment Severus. She has�.company.�
Severus stared at Lupin confused. �Co�Company?�

He did not wait for a reply. In stead he raced out of the room and through the main entrance to see Nina, his wonderful, beautiful Nina walking across the lawns towards him.
As soon as she saw him standing in the entryway, holding onto the edge of the door as if to support himself she ran. She ran and ran until he reached out and took her into his arms. Holding her and thanking her for coming back and telling her that he loved her and to please, never do anything like this again.
Nina looked at him. Her eyes as bright with tears as his own.

�I can�t make that promise Severus. But I can promise that I will always, always come back to you. If you�ll have me.�
�If does not exist.� He told her. �Not in this instance.�
When they walked into the study. Well when Severus walked into the study with Nina still dangling from his arms, he had not let her go, everyone cheered and surrounded them. There were tears aplenty as she was pulled in every direction for hugs and congratulations.
She finally managed to untangle herself and made her way into a corner to give herself chance to breathe.

Tonks came over.

�Nina. I know I said you were special kid. But your something else you know that? What you did. For Remus. You didn�t just give him his life. You gave me mine too.�
�Thanks Tonks. But I�m Not. Not really.�

�Remus told me what you said to him. About me I mean. We�ll never be able to thank you properly for this Nina. But thanks anyway. You got me as a friend for life now I�m afraid.�
�Having you for a friend is thanks enough Tonks.�
Just then the puppy came walking up to Nina. She picked him up and he settled onto her knees and went to sleep.
�Hey. Cute puppy. Where�d you get it?�
�Ah. Now that�s another story Tonks.�
