No One Comes When You Cry
Chapter 36 Freedom to Fly
That night Severus did not attempt to make love to Sky. Instead, he sat reading by the bedroom fire until he could hear her steady breathing, telling him she was asleep. Only then did he undress and climb into bed. Earlier in the evening, he purposely found something to do as she undressed for bed so that he would not be tempted by the sight of her body. He was afraid he would hurt her, even more, he was afraid she would reject him. He could tell her to make love with him and she would obey, but Severus wanted her to want him, to need him, because it was what she wanted. His mind boggled slightly as he tried to read the same page for an hour, but she was asleep now, so he closed the book and placed it on the table in front of him. He quietly undressed and got into bed, rolling onto his side so his back was against hers. In her sleep, Sky instinctively turned over and draped an arm over his hip as she snuggled close.
Severus almost groaned aloud in agony at the feel of her fingertips as they barely grazed across his member, causing it to twitch. He shifted slightly and pushed her hand back carefully, but she snuggled closer, following him, her breasts pressing into his back as she reached round again, her fingers curling round his member, unconsciously seeking a hold on him.
This time he did groan as he hardened under her grip. He desperately tried to keep still but it was agonising, he started moving his hips back and forth slowly, the feeling of pleasure too difficult to resist. Soon her hand began to move of its own accord. He stilled and twisted his head to look at her.
“Hi.” She said sleepily. “I was starting to think you weren’t coming to bed.” Her hand kept stroking him, causing him to harden even more.
“Sky if you keep doing that I will not be able to control myself.”
She lifted up on one elbow, still stroking and looking at him. “Do you want me to stop?”
“Ungh.” Was all he managed to say as she speeded up her movements.
“Severus, do you want me to stop?”
“Yes. No. I want …Gods woman what are you trying to do to me?” He asked in a strangled voice as he rolled onto his back and thrust his hips into her hand.
“It’s your turn Severus, to tell me. What do you want?” She asked him again, stilling her hand.
His mouth was slack and he turned to look at her with glazed eyes. “I want to take you. Make love to you.”
“Well why won’t you? I want you to. I want you to make me forget what happened, Severus. Make it alright again. Give me a new something to remember. Please.”
He could not hold back any longer and rolled on top of her. Her legs parted for him and he slid right into her. She was already wet and ready for him and that alone made him want her even more. He didn’t drive into her unmercifully as he wanted to, instead he moved slowly, sensuously, caressing and kissing her as he stroked her inner walls with his cock. The feeling was unbelievable but Sky wanted more. She loved what he was doing but she needed him to go deeper, harder, faster.
“Severus please. I need more. Don’t hold back. Give me all of you.”
That was his undoing, no longer able to restrain himself, he lost himself inside her. He grabbed her hips and pulled her over him as he thrust into her, hitting her cervix as he slammed home again and again. She brought her legs up and wrapped them round his waist, clawing at him with her fingers, wanting to feel everything he gave her.
Once he started to give her what she wanted, they were both nearing release and he pistoned into her wet sleeve, burying himself in her body, her mind, his hips moving on automatic as he felt her pulsing and beginning to tighten around his cock. She tensed, crying out his name as his balls tightened and a jet of come shot through him and spurted hot and thick into her, her name on his lips as he released, both of them grunting in ecstasy as they clung to each other. Then the slow coming down while he planted soft kisses on her face, neck, shoulders and chest. Sky stroking every bit of his skin she could reach until they collapsed in a heap of tangled legs and arms, their breath gradually returning to normal.
Severus lay on his side facing her and pulled her close. “Did I make you forget?” He asked.
“Hm? Forget what Severus?” She smiled as her eyes drooped closed and she fell into a contented sleep.
“It would appear I did.” He answered his own question quietly, a smile on his face as he too drifted of to sleep.
It was Monday morning, the first day of the last week of school. On Friday lessons would officially be over for the summer and Severus could not wait. N.E.W.T’s and O.W.L’s were over and by Saturday lunch the students would be on the Hogwarts express. He was hoping and praying that all would go well with the Dark Lord on Sunday, then he would take Sky away somewhere. He’d not had a holiday in many years and the thought of taking one with his wife appealed to him.
At breakfast, there were still a lot of stares directed at Sky, but they were more covert now. No one daring to stare openly after she showed so many of them up yesterday with nothing more then a ‘boo’.
Sky in turn looked back at the sea of faces. She didn’t really blame them for feeling as they did. She would probably have been the same in their shoes. She was just sad that they were all willing to turn against her so quickly. Especially the ones she’d helped during potion lessons before she got found out. Sky wasn’t that much older then the seventh years but none of them had ever been particularly friendly toward her. There was no one on the staff that was even close to her age apart from Severus. She looked at him as he bit into his toast.
“Severus?”
“Hmm?” He mumbled with his mouth full.
“How old are you?”
Albus smirked and slapped the Potion Masters back quite hard several times as he choked on his toast and grew redder and redder.
Sky, not realising it was her question that caused him to choke, jumped to her feet and tried to help Albus hit him on the back.
“Severus are you alright? Have a drink of water. Here.”
She offered him a glass, he took it and gulped down the contents while trying to fend of the bruising slaps on his back.
He coughed a few times and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand before taking another drink.
“”Will ..cough.. you please stop ..cough.. hitting me ..cough…cough. “ He managed to grind out.
Sky and Albus both sat down. Sky looking at Severus concerned, rubbing his back gently, and Albus with his mouth twitching, just aching to smile. He’d heard her question and knew Severus’ choking was in reaction to that question.
Severus downed the last of his coffee and stood. “I have classes to prepare for.” He croaked and stalked from the hall, coughing as he went, but his robes still billowing and a deep scowl on his face, when he wasn’t coughing.
“Well he got out of that one didn’t he?” Albus asked her with a beaming smile.
“Got out of what? He was choking.”
“He was. But you still did not find out his age did you?” He kept smiling as he got up and left to go to his office.
Sky sat for a while longer with a wry expression, contemplating what the Headmaster said.
‘Why would me asking his age make him choke?’ Shrugging her shoulders she got up and headed outside. It was a nice day and she didn’t feel like being cooped up when there was sunshine outside.
Stepping through the massive doors that led outside, she peered both ways before going down the steps. She was feeling wary after Malfoy. He snuck up on her last time and she didn’t want to be caught off guard again.
She ran across the lawns, enjoying the freedom, then stopped when she reached the edge of the forest. Curious she headed in a ways, looking about and wondering if there were any wild creatures nearby. The Founders all warned her not to go in here, saying there were werewolves and giant spiders and such. Sky only meant to stay near the edge. She wasn’t afraid of meeting a werewolf. It was daytime and the full moon was almost two weeks away. ‘And how big could a spider get? Not that big surely.’
Helga said there were a lot of potion ingredients to be had deeper in the forest if one knew where to look. But Sky didn’t, so she decided not to push her luck. Besides, even in broad daylight it looked pretty dark in there. She hummed to herself as she wound her way through the trees, still keeping close to the edge as she went.
She nearly peed herself when a gruff voice came from behind her.
“You oughtn’t to be in there girlie. It’s not safe.”
She spun round, wand in hand to see the caretaker, Mr. Filch. She’d seen him from a distance before and Severus told her who he was and what he did at the school. But she’d never met him before.
“Mr. Filch. You gave me a fright. It’s okay, I’m keeping close to the edge.”
“Don’t matter.” He told her, his face scrunched up. “Still easy for summat ter grab yer.”
“Right. I’ll bear that in mind. Thank you, Mr. Filch.”
“See that ye do. I don’t wanna have ter go looking for ye.”
He looked her up and down and left, heading for the castle.
Sky, her heart still racing from the fright he gave her, could hear him grumbling as he went. She decided to move away from the trees.
Her nerves were shot and she wanted somewhere peaceful to sit down. But not a place where someone could sneak up on her like Mr. Filch or Mr. Malfoy did. The lake was out of the question too, that was where Malfoy found her.
Hearing voices she walked round the castle and saw Madam Hooch with a group of students and a pile of brooms. Sky had seen them flying sometimes on her rare outings from the wall. She’d envied them, wishing she could fly too.
Standing leaning against the wall of the castle she watched as each student picked a broom and took to one side. Hoping to learn what to do, she watched them and tried to hear what the teacher was saying. But it seemed as though they already knew what to do and soon they were all flying about under Madam Hooch’s instruction. Looping the loop and coming down fast before whizzing up again. It made her stomach flip as she watched them. It looked scary and exciting at the same time.
After an hour they all came in to land and placed their brooms back on the pile before heading off to the next lesson. Sky watched them leave and turned to go.
“Just a minute you.”
Turning back she saw Madam Hooch was talking to her. “Sorry, I didn‘t mean to interrupt, I was just going. It was nice watching them fly like that.”
“You didn’t interrupt. Can you fly?”
“No, I’ve never tried.”
“What, never?” She asked, appalled that someone her age had never mounted a broom.
Sky shook her head. “I haven’t got a broom and there was no one to teach me anyway. I watched you sometimes though, through the gates when I …well I watched.”
“Best learn now then, I’ve got a couple of hours free. Come on, over here.” She told her holding out a broom.
“Really? You’ll teach me to fly?”
“Well I’m not going to teach you to sweep floors. Now put the broom onto the ground at your right.”
Sky still hadn’t been taught her left from her right but she figured her right was her wand hand so put the broom at that side.
“Now, hold out your hand and say up.”
Sky put out her hand and the broom lifted into her hand before she had a chance to speak. “Oh sorry, shall I do that again?”
“No, no that was perfect for a first try, now mount it.”
Sky gave her a blank look but Madam Hooch demonstrated by mounting her own broom and Sky copied.
“Good. Just move your hands up a little otherwise you’ll rocket up and fall off. The last thing I want is your husband bellowing at me because you broke your back.”
“Broke my back. Why would I …”
“Never mind. Just do what I tell you and you’ll be fine.”
Sky wasn’t so sure now, but she watched the Professor and copied everything she did and listened intently to her instructions. When she leaned forward slightly and the broom began to rise, her feet no longer touching the ground, she beamed at the other woman. “Look. I’ve done it. I’m flying.”
“Well you’re off the ground at any rate. Now lean forward a bit more, not too much, that’s it, now sit up a bit, no, don’t let go, grip a bit tighter, keep your knees in, there, now you’re flying.”
Sky suddenly realised that she was quite a way from the ground, Madam Hooch at her side and she was indeed flying. Her eyes were wide with wonder and excitement. ‘Wait till she told Severus what she’d done.’ “This is so unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s fantastic. I wish I could’ve learned sooner.”
“Yes well you’re doing fine. You’ll be flying like a pro in no time with my help.”
At the end of her two hours, Sky ached everywhere, her hair felt as though it was standing on end and she was cold, but she’d loved every minute of it. She could fly and Madam Hooch said she was very good.
“Come again after lunch on Thursday and we’ll have another go. I’ve enjoyed teaching you and you’ve picked it up quick. Help me put these brooms away and we can get cleaned up ready for lunch.”
Sky lifted her hand and the brooms raised a few feet to followed her as she headed towards the Professor. “Where are we taking them?”
Rolanda Hooch stared at her for a moment. “Are you using your wand?”
“Err no, why? Should I be?”
“Not at all, I just didn’t know you could do that? Clever. This way.”
Sky followed Hooch and the brooms followed Sky. When they reached the broom shed, Hooch explained how the brooms needed to be stacked in a certain way, that once a week they should be rubbed down with linseed oil to keep them supple and that the twigs needed to be checked, trimmed, and if necessary, replaced before each use. Too many broken twigs and the brooms would not go where you wanted them to.
Sky snapped her fingers and the brooms positioned themselves in the holders. “Is that right?”
“Well bugger me. Yes it is. Do you want to help me oil and trim them after your lesson on Thursday? I have a feeling we’ll get the job done quicker with you around.”
“I’d love to, it’s the least I can do after what you’ve done. Thank you Madam Hooch.”
“You’re most welcome. Oh and do call me Rolanda, you’re not a student after all.”
“Thanks Rolanda, but you have to call me Sky.”
“I’ve been calling you Sky for the last two hours but you’ve been too busy concentrating to notice.”
They were both chatting and laughing as they entered the school. Severus was just emerging from the dungeon corridor. He’d been to his rooms to collect Sky and was disgruntled to find her gone. When he saw her laughing and chatting with Hooch, her hair wild and tangled his eyebrows raised to unbelievable heights.
“Sky. What have you been doing?”
“Severus.” She squealed, running over to him and grabbing his arm. “I can fly. Rolanda’s been teaching me and she says I’m good. I’m going again on Thursday. It’s brilliant.” She told him excitedly. “I wish I’d learned before.”
Rolanda Hooch smiled and shook her head as she left to get cleaned up. The girl was excitable but she was a quick study. She really had done well today, after only two hours she was up to fourth year level. Rolanda reckoned that after Thursday she would be as good, if not better than any of the more talented seventh years.
Severus frowned at Sky. “I suggest you go wash and do something with your hair, you look a mess.”
‘If she wanted to learn to fly so badly why had she not asked him?’ He would have taught her himself. He was her husband after all.
Sky looked at him feeling a bit hurt. He’d not even told her well done.
‘Didn’t he want her to learn?’
“Yeah I suppose I do look a bit of a mess.”
“Yes you do.”
He told her and headed for the Great Hall. He’d had a terrible morning. None of the students were concentrating on their work. It would be like this for the rest of the week as the holidays loomed closer. It was a waste of time trying to teach them anything.
Sky watched him go then turned and trudged to their rooms. Her excitement gone. The pleasure she’d felt at being able to fly, had literally flown out of the window. She looked at herself in the mirror. Any other time she would’ve laughed at herself. Instead she went to wash up then came back to brush her hair. She could have sorted it with a wave of her hand but she wasn’t in any rush to go to lunch now, so she tackled it the old fashioned way. When she was done she went into the study and slumped onto the sofa.
“Effy.”
The elf appeared and looked at her. “Why’s you sad Miss?”
“I’m not sad Effy. Well I am, but I’m probably just being silly. Do you think I could have my lunch in here. I don’t really want to go to the hall.”
“Effy is bringing it right away Miss.”
Two minutes later Sky was sat eating a bowl of asparagus soup and a soft buttered roll as she wondered at Severus’ reaction to her earlier.
When she didn’t turn up for lunch, Severus was not pleased. As soon as he finished he headed back to the dungeon and barged into the study.
“Why did you not come to lunch?”
“I thought it would be better if I stayed here. Severus please don’t get angry at me again?”
She pleaded as she got off the sofa and backed away from him. When Severus saw the obvious fear in her eyes and the way she backed off he softened.
“Sky don’t be scared, I am not going to do anything to you. I just wondered why you did not come to the hall.”
“You were angry with me. I …I thought you …maybe …not …I don’t know. You just seemed so mad when I told you I could fly. Then you said I looked a mess and …so I came here …but now you’re … “
He walked over to her and pulled her to him. “Silly woman. I was irritated yes. I would have liked to have been the one who taught you to fly. If you had told me you wanted to learn I would have. But that is all it was. Do not think I am going to harm you every time I get a bit jealous or lose my temper over something. I do not like to see you running from me like a frightened rabbit Sky. What happened before, it was a mistake, one I deeply regret and shall not make again. Now, you say you did well with your flying. Tell me about it. Better still show me.”
He led her back to the sofa and they sat down as Sky sent him her memory from when she was watching the students fly, to when they arrived back in the castle. The best thing about Sky’s imaging was that he got to hear what was being said and he laughed when Rolanda Hooch made the comment about him getting at her if anything happened to Sky.
“You really are a natural, and Rolanda is a good teacher. One of the best. Stick with her and you shall soon be able to fly as well as many of the more experienced among us.”
“You think so. It’s a really wonderful feeling up there, I felt free, like I could have flown forever.”
“Well I sincerely hope you don’t. I have no wish to go searching the skies for you just because you did not want to come back down to earth.”
“Can we fly together when everyone leaves at the weekend?”
“I would like that yes, but I have to get to my classes now. What daring exploits do you have planned for this afternoon?”
“Nothing. I didn’t plan any this morning, it just sort of happened.”
“Well if anything else is about to ‘just sort of happen’ do let me know beforehand. Then I shall know not to go looking for you in here or up there.” He raised his eyes to the ceiling and smiled, gave her a quick kiss and left.
Sky had an idea and went to sit at her desk.
