Hermione stepped into the Common room where she found Adrien, Draco, Pansy, and Luna, and the two boys were once again locked in a heated debate. Not even bothering to see what it was all about, she called to her best friend.
"Adrien.."
The younger Snape whirled around and a smile the size of China plastered onto his face.
"Hermione... Oh good." he said getting up to greet her.
"Do you think we could go somewhere and... Talk?" she asked.
Adrien nodded and motioned for Luna to follow if she wanted, and the three headed back out of the Common room.
"I know you want to go down to the lake." Hermione supplied.
"Damn straight." Adrien laughed.
Once the three were at their desired destination, Hermione wasted no time.
"I need answers, Adrien... What happened to me, exactly? I've been racking my brain and I can't remember anything, so please... Just give it to me straight."
Adrien sighed as he began to search the ground for a good specimen.
"Okay, Hermione... But my father has forbidden me to flat out tell you this, but since you're asking, I'm gonna give it to you straight. As you've said."
"Here's the simple run down.-" Adrien paused as he flung his rock farther than far across the water. "My mother came back. She was a Seraphim. My father was upset, so was I. She intended to take me from him, and you... Agreed to help him... Kill her. Send her soul back to the world she came from." Adrien summarized thoughtfully.
"Okay, and why on earth would I do all of that? Surely he could have handled it himself."
"You love him, Hermione." Adrien told her, flat out.
The girl stopped and stared at her friend in disbelief. "I... What?"
"You love him." he repeated.
"And how do you know this?"
"Fuck sake! Because I'm the one who pushed you two together, my sweet little Gryffindor friend. And the man is fucking head over heels for you. He implored me not to say anything to you about this, but I don't see any other way of making your feelings come back. Before he killed that evil slag, she took your memories of your feelings for him away, and injured you in the process as a sort of last stand." Adrien explained.
Hermione sat dumbfounded next to Luna. She turned her attention toward the little blonde haired witch. "Is this true?" she asked her.
"Yes. Every word. You are very much in love with Professor Snape. You even wrote him a letter. Maybe if you go to him, he'll be able to show it to you, and it might... Jog your memory a bit?" Luna supplied.
"Oh gods...-" Hermione breathed. "I can't imagine how he must be feeling..."
"He isn't happy. I've barely seen him. He hasn't really come out of his private rooms since it all happened. I really only see him during Potions, and if I go down there myself to talk to him after hours." Adrien said.
"Do you remember that you saved his life?" Luna asked.
Hermione nodded. "Yes, that I remember." she said slowly.
"Do you remember how you felt when you thought he was gone forever?" the blonde pressed.
"Mm... No... I thought I was just saving someone's life, didn't I?"
Luna shook her head, as did Adrien.
"No. Far from it. You were in shambles, my dear. You told me that you and I and Harry had to save him, because you couldn't imagine your life without him in it." the younger Snape stared pointedly at her.
"I'm not quite sure, Hermione... But I've been trying to dig up some things on Seraphim magic, to try to reverse the spell myself, but being that I haven't had proper training in the ways of a Seraphim, I'm afraid to experiment in fear of fucking you up further." Adrien explained as he thrust another rock harder over the water.
"So what should I do?" she asked.
"Go and talk to him, Hermione. But don't tell him what I've just told you, I really don't feel like facing his wrath." Adrien teased.
"So what am I supposed to tell him? 'I'm here for my lessons'?"
"No... That's not sexy, is it?" Adrien teased again. "No... Tell him that... You're there because you... You've been having thoughts about him that you don't understand... And... You want to know why, and then hopefully he will show you that letter that you wrote to him. I'm sure he's read it a million times by now."
Hermione blushed "Did you read it, Adrien?"
"But of course, my love. What kind of snoopy bastard would I be if I didn't?" he winked cheekily at her. "Now go and talk to him."
The witch sighed and stood from her spot on the rocky ground. "Alright... But you keep up with studying that memory reversal." she told him.
Adrien nodded. "I will. Luna's been helping me. Have no fear, my dear. In time." he told her.
Hermione nodded and turned to walk back up the path to the castle; nervousness growing with every step. Before she knew it, she wound up at the door that would lead to the man in question.
The witch gave a timid knock, and moments later, the door unwarded. She pushed it open slowly, and squinted against the dark in the room, trying to see.
"Hello?" she called.
The dark wizard's heart gave a painful wrench as he heard the voice of the girl who unknowingly held it. He flicked his wand and the room illuminated.
"Hello Her- Miss Granger..." he greeted, unable to keep the sadness from his tone, and he kicked himself for it.
"Hello... Um... I'm sure this is awkward for the both of us, but... I might as well just say it.-"
Severus held his breath as he waited.
"I've... Oh gods, Adrien told me that you and I are... Something.." she trailed off.
Oh, Adrien. Leave it up to him to be the one to freak the girl out. Severus sighed.
"But I'm not afraid... I'm sorry, but I just can't remember." she said.
As the girl looked at the Potions Master, her mind began to swim with a strange attraction. She couldn't help but think about how attractive he was, especially bathed in the soft sepia light of the illuminated candles.
"What do you want to know?" he asked softly.
"Well, I'm told I wrote you a letter... Can I... See it?" she asked hesitantly.
Severus stared at the girl for a moment in disbelief. "Are you sure? I know after a traumatic incident a shock such a this isn't good for the brain." he mused.
"Well... To be honest... I could tell there was something wrong when you came to see me in the hospital wing the first night... The expression on your face has been on my mind ever since, and I couldn't take wondering anymore, so I sort of... Made Adrien tell me so... Yes, I would like to see it. Please."
The dark wizard hesitated for a moment before he motioned her over to him. Hermione moved and stood right next to him, and she couldn't help but let him fill her senses. Her heart gave way to a strange feeling as he passed her a letter that had been folded into an origami rose. It was vaguely familiar to her.
"Take it... And take this." he told her, offering her his journal.
She stared confused for a moment at the book in his hand before she slowly reached out and took it.
"Are you sure?" she asked.
Severus smiled sadly. "Positive."
