Lucius and Severus managed to make it back to Draco. At the sight of Sirius, Lucius hurried closer to them. “What happened?” he asked, glancing at Draco.
The young Malfoy shook his head. “He came here like that,” he explained.“Potter must have found a way to get rid of the barrier,” Severus stated. “Hermione would have tried to find a road and would have followed that road. We need to do the same.”Both Malfoys looked at the Potions’ master. Lucius sighed. “Then help me get him up,” he said, turning his attention back to Sirius. He patted the Animagus’s face. “Sirius,” Lucius said, calmly. “Sirius? Can you hear me? You need to get up. We can’t stay here.”That’s when Lucius noticed the blood on his hands. Looking down, he saw Sirius’ right arm from his elbow on down as a bloody mess. The Malfoy patron’s eyes widened as he glanced back at Black’s face. “Sirius,” he tried again. When he received no response from the Animagus, his eyes went to his friend. “Severus, help me get him up.”At that moment, another howl cut through the air and Draco stood up in an almost panic. “Where’s Hermione? She should be here by now,” he said, his voice squeaking in his fright. The other two men had no answer to give him, so neither gave a response. Together, they lifted the prone Animagus.“I saw a trail leading in that direction,” Severus said, pointing to the north with one hand. “My guess is that there is a road up ahead. Perhaps we’ll be able to flag someone down for help.”Lucius grunted in agreement as he carried the brunt of Sirius’s weight. The three of them walked slowly, both of the older Slytherins were careful not to drop their cargo. After what seemed like forever, Sirius groaned.Kneeling on one knee, Lucius and Severus placed him upon the ground. The blond haired man checked the Animagus’s wound and took note that it had stopped bleeding. If they could find water, Lucius could clean the wound to check exactly what had happened.“Do you think Remus did that?” Draco asked fearfully. “Or maybe the devil’s snare?”The older Malfoy touched the arm tenderly and lightly picked it up as he tried to examine it as best he could. “I don’t know, son,” was the only answer he could provide, “but we need to get him to a Healer quickly.”Draco nodded as he looked around the area they were currently in. Somehow, they managed to put a great deal of distance between themselves and the house, though he could only guess how they did it. The night was freezing and he actually feared his balls would fall off if they didn’t find somewhere warm and soon. The rain had stopped as the clouds moved away from them.Lucius began to lift the Animagus up again, wishing the man had stayed in his dog form, but Severus stopped him. “Let’s build a fire,” the Potion’s master suggested. “It’s late and we can’t keep continuing the risk of moving him.”The eldest of the Slytherins narrowed his eyes. “We can’t stay here, Severus,” he growled. “And building a fire would only alert that bloody werewolf of our location!”Severus thrust his hand in the direction they had just come. “If Remus wanted us, he bloody well would have gotten to us by now,” he snapped. He pointed to Sirius. “The man could be dying for all we know! We need to build a fire and hope against hope that someone sees it.”“Before Remus,” Lucius said, folding his arms over his chest.“He’s not hunting us!” the black haired man snarled. “That house wasn’t exactly in the middle of the desert, in case you hadn’t noticed. There’s no doubt in my mind that the moment that barrier shattered, Remus ran into the woods next to the house to find food.”“There’s probably water in those woods, too,” Draco pointed out as he began gathering sticks and other bits that could be used for a fire.Neither of the men had had any water or food for the past twenty-four hours. Lucius glanced up at the now cloudless sky before looking in the direction they were walking. As much as he hated to admit it, Severus was right. They couldn’t keep walking with Sirius in the condition he was in. The only option they had at this point was to build a fire and hope that help came soon.Draco dropped the wood in his hands. “Wood’s wet,” he commented. The other two men looked at him to see bits of wet wood sticking to his bare arms.(II) (II)Hermione gasped as she pulled her broom up. She pointed at the house, unable to believe she could actually see it! “There it is!” she shouted to the boys, though she could hardly believe her luck. The two wizards pulled up beside her and took out their wands. “Be careful, Hermione,” the red head cautioned. “Remus is there somewhere and the sun still has a couple hours before it rises.”As they began their decent, Hermione began casting detection spells to see if she could find any of the men, but her luck was dashed. “He’s not here, Ron,” she said as she lowered herself even further and dismounted her broom. “None of them are.” She looked about the area helplessly.Ron dismounted beside her, but Harry remained hovering in the air. “They couldn’t have gotten far,” the Man-Who-Lived stated. “They’re naked and wandless. Not to mention, it’s freezing out here.”Ron nodded before he quickly grabbed Hermione and pulled her away from the door of the house. As she began to protest, he turned her around to show her the house. The front door was covered in devil’s snare and looked like an open can of worms. Her eyes widened in fear and she cast another spell to detect people. Not getting a read, she stumbled back, terrified they might have gotten caught in the plant.“Come on, guys,” Harry urged. “They have to be around here somewhere. We need to find them quickly before they freeze.”Hermione nodded as she made a move towards her broom. Suddenly, a large werewolf jumped out from a nearby bush, snarling. All three of the magical people pointed their wands at him and shouted, “Stupify!”The three spells hit the werewolf and he was thrown back. He growled as he panted, before looking up at them with hatred in his eyes.Hermione prayed she would never see that look in his eyes again. “I’m sorry, Remus,” she said as the Golden Trio began pelting him with stunning spells over and over again.Somehow, they managed to knock him out, but all three were tired from the exertion. “Bind him,” Harry ordered, though he hadn’t really needed to.Together, they bound his hands, legs, and muzzle with thick ropes, though Hermione knew it wouldn’t last once he woke. They had to get away from there. They had to get him away from there. “How much time until the sunrise?” she asked, glancing at her two best friends.Harry pulled out his pocket watch and glanced at it. “Two hours,” he responded. She nodded. “Those spells won’t last long on him, but they may last long enough for us to get him to a save facility until the sun rises.” She looked at the two men she considered brothers. “He’ll sleep for a little bit at least. Let’s scan the area. The other men couldn’t have gotten far,” she suggested, repeating what Harry had said earlier.Hermione and Ron mounted their brooms. Hermione cast a hovering charm on Remus as she did not want to leave him near the house. Whether he woke in a few moments time or not, she had no desire to leave him alone.Harry hovered around the ground, looking for any indication of where the men could have gone. There was snow on the ground, so maybe if he looked hard enough, he would see tracks? Ron asked what he was doing and when the raven haired young man told them, the other two joined the search. The gods were really favoring Hermione as she found a set of tracks near a tree. “Here!” she shouted, drawing the attention of the other two. She pointed at the spot and then pointed in the direction she knew the men to be going. “That way!”With no hesitation, the three sped off into the early morning night, an unconscious Remus trailing behind them.Author's Note: Ok, so that particular spell is not in this chapter. However, I just got an amazing idea with said spell that I might take full advantage of in the next chapter. (Haven't decided yet.) Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. There is only one, maybe two chapters left before the epilogue. If you haven't checked out my other stories, please feel free to do so. Many of them have been circulating around here for a while, so they are rather old. And there are numerous grammatical errors in a couple of them, but overall, they tend to be enjoyable reads, from what I've been told. (My favourite is Priceless, to be honest, and this one, too.) Comments are always appreciated, but never demanded. Love y'all bunches!
