Just a reminder of what's on my profile: reviews complaining or whinging about the lack 'o sex in stories will get deleted. If you want a smut-filled romp, you need to find another story to read.
“From what the Dark Lord told me, according to his sources in the Ministry, Fudge is on his way out,” Lucius said, looking around at those seated near him. They were outside enjoying the wonderful day. The three teenagers were in the air, smacking balls around, so the feel amongst them was a relaxed one. “He's trying to hang on to the office, but it's not looking like it will happen.”
“Good, he needs to go,” Sirius said, leaning back in his chair, crossing his ankles and folding his arms over his chest. “From what I heard from my solicitor today, he's what's holding up the whole bit with me getting cleared. It's the one thing he doesn't want to admit to, despite the evidence, as he knows how bad this is going to look.”“The Dark Lord heard the same thing,” Lucius nodded. “He's in contact with one of his better placed sources on the Wizengamot to see if they can move it along for you. It's obviously a miscarriage of justice that should have people howling plenty. He just counsels to stay patient, that he'll manage.”“I'm trying, but we are looking at the start of term looming and needing out,” Sirius told him with a deep sigh, shaking his head. “I don't want to go into hiding with Harry if I'm still wanted. This is the one bit we desperately need. That and those papers signed. The papers—yeah, that has to wait until I'm cleared, so we need the ones done that will trigger at Hogwarts fast.”“If it comes down to it, we can sign those papers,” Remus said, looking around. “Or Petunia can. It might not be legal, but it's going to send Albus into a panic as it's going to end up showing that she's not his legal guardian. That he's not going to want out there.”Looking at Lucius, Sirius asked, “What do you think about that? She has a solicitor and can get them. It won't be legal, we know that, as Remus is his guardian right now, at least until I'm cleared or we make the bonding official.”Thinking that over, Lucius gave a slow nod. “Let's go with that,” he said. “It should at least spin some people in circles.” Looking at Petunia, who was listening intently, he said, “I'll help you compose something for him to at least get the papers. Then you can make it clear you've had enough of Albus' stalling and plan to go about it this way. We might not have to file them yet, hoping we can get Sirius cleared first or we'll have Remus end up signing as he is the guardian, but it should get something moving.” Sighing, he shook his head then told everyone, “If worse comes to worst and Remus does sign, it'll buy us more time to get Sirius cleared. I'm hoping that it doesn't come to that.”“I can do that,” Petunia told him with a nod. “Because I don't like this situation, at all.” Shaking her head, she looked up at the boys in the air then glanced around the yard. Midnight was hunting, it looked like. Sir Hiss was curled up on a rock in the sun, probably sleeping, though she couldn't tell because snakes didn't have eyelids. Sighing, she added, “Though as nice as this house is, I would rather be out of it and away from Dumbledore. Anything I can do to help speed it along, I will.”“We'll go with that plan,” Lucius told everyone. “I'll get a missive off to Severus to keep him abreast of what we're doing so he can use it to poke the old man. With how he is, he can easily come up with something to get him motivated then moving in the direction we want.” Seeing nods, he pressed on to an issue that, though they were affected, it wouldn't draw them in. Quietly, he imparted, “The Dark Lord checked and Harry's prophecy registered in the Hall of Prophecy.” Seeing concerned looks from all, he waved a dismissive hand then said, “Nothing to fret over. It registered as by the Serpentine Seer. Harry's name appears nowhere.”“Thank Merlin for that,” Remus sighed, very relieved.“He just wants everyone aware. Sirius and I will tell Harry, of course, but it won't affect us. At least not now. We're sure that it'll come out at some point who the Seer is. From what the missive said, the Unspeakables are on alert for more prophecies from him as they are schooled in how important those that come from the Seer are,” he said. “Nothing to worry about. However, it does shore up that it's a real prophecy. Which should tell us there will be more.”“I think, until we get out, we need to find a way for Harry to signal that he's getting one if others are present,” Narcissa told everyone, looking around. “We most certainly don't want anyone knowing he can do that.”“And that is something we didn't think of, any of us,” the tired looking Remus said, eyes overly wide, looking around. “That one came out of the blue. We don't need those not connected to this hearing one. If they do, it will get back to Albus.”“Shite,” Sirius mumbled, shaking his head. Thinking it over, he then looked over his shoulder and called for Sir Hiss. The snake seemed to know what was coming with that one, so he might be able to signal them if it was happening. When the snake slithered over and onto his shoulders, he asked about that.“Oh, easily done,” the snake assured him, looking around. “I'll ensure you know if its coming or other parts are triggered. Those other gifts are under control as well, but they haven't gone away. Some are needed to fulfill what he does.”Relieved by that, Lucius nodded then translated what the snake said. However, his brow furrowed about the other gifts. Those hadn't shown since that final one that triggered the last of it. That had him slightly concerned. “Will the others be as bad as they had been?” He asked the snake, tone wary.“Oh, no,” the snake assured him. “They will have calmed as well. Harry will know what to avoid that would trigger the worst of it. The same with people. Others will pull him in as it's something he needs to impart. The pain that came with the one won't occur again unless someone forces the object on him. With both of you protecting him, that shouldn't happen.”“Good. Because none of us involved in this can take another night like the one with the goblet,” Sirius chuckled mirthlessly, shaking his head.“Harry will know what to touch and who someone is that he needs to impart something to,” Sir Hiss assured him. “I'll help with that if he's not paying attention. That's part of the reason it's best that I stay with him most of the time.”After hearing Lucius' translation of what was said then a very brief rundown of the incident with the goblet from Narcissa, Petunia sighed. Looking at the snake, she said, “I'll learn to deal with him if he's around. Just—please, keep him away from me!”Grinning at that, Sirius chuckled, “We will, don't worry. He won't hurt you, we promise.”“Be that as it may, it's a snake,” Petunia said, shaking her head. She could, and was, dealing with more than she ever thought she would, but a snake was still on the iffy list!
Sitting with Narcissa and Aunt Petunia, Harry was chuckling as he sipped a butterbeer. They needed him for approvals when it came to changing out things like linens, tableware and such. This was very much not his area. It apparently wasn't Sirius' either as his godfather heard what they wanted then mentioned something about keeping an eye on Dudley and Draco before vanishing. As he had to sign off on it, he was stuck, though he was vowing to get even with Sirius for abandoning him with a few tickling charms.
“What I thought, as the inventory said that the tableware is all ancient, was to send the elves out for something new. They can, of course, put the Potter coat of arms on it to appease them, but we don't want to trigger issues with you when it comes to something antiquated,” Narcissa explained, pushing the catalog of new items over to him. “You can pick it out, of course, as it's your home.”One glance at the catalog and Harry shook his head. Petting the chuckling Sir Hiss on the head, he told her, “You both can go ahead and take care of all that. I'm betting you have better tastes than I do in those areas. Whatever you pick out I'll sign for as long as it's not girly colors.”Hearing Petunia laugh at that, Narcissa smiled at Harry then gave a soft chuckle, “No, I won't go for the more feminine schemes, I promise. My thought was to match the colors in the coat of arms. The same with the linens. That should appease you as they are a deep purple and black. Nothing 'girly' about that.”“I can live with those colors,” Harry grinned at her. Looking over the other parts, such as bits to decorate the rooms, he shook his head then told her, “I don't care how anything is decorated, honestly. You lot pick what you want as it sounds like we're going to be staying there for a while.” Reaching out, he picked up a picture of some of the suits of armor and weapons then asked, brow furrowed, “Is there any way to put a spell around some of these things so that if I do brush up against them it doesn't set anything off? As old as they are, not even taking in account what they are, it might.”“That is something I already had Lucius set the elves to working on,” Narcissa assured him with a nod. “We thought they might be an issue as they are authentic and were probably used in battle. No sense chancing it. They'll manage, never fear, the same with other items they know might cause the biggest problems.”“Perfect,” Harry told her, relieved. “About the rest of the castle; what are we doing with that? Are we going to update whatever now or wait until we get there? From what I can tell, we only need a small part of it ready. I can't see letting the rest of it fall apart, though.” That he was curious about. He assumed the elves had it cleaned, of course, and would make sure it was safe, but he didn't know about the rest.“What I thought was to get the parts we desperately need done taken care of before we get there. The sleeping areas, common rooms we'll use, dining room, kitchen, the like. Those are sections that are required for all of us. That and tend to the outside in areas so we aren't cooped up. Once there, we'll take on the rest. I'll make sure to order enough linens to cover all the beds in the place, of course, but the decorating and whatnot will wait. Besides, we need to see what's there before we do that. There may be enough in storage that we can use for that when it comes to furnishings,” Narcissa explained, placing the parchment about the tableware and bedding aside. Grabbing the next, she said, “This is for the beds. As we aren't sure just how long it's set empty, I think it's best to replaces the mattresses and such. While the elves can keep them in repaired, it's best to go with new. The frames and suites of furniture for the rooms we will tend to when we get there.”“I'll agree there,” Harry told her with a chuckle, signing what was there. “Just make sure they are big and comfy. That's all that matters to me.” Passing the form back to her, Harry then felt another of those odd reactions. It wasn't the same as the one right before the prophecy, but it was something and it was pushing him to touch Narcissa. Not sure what to do, he just looked at her, seeing a puzzled expression on her face.Curling up tighter around his young Seer's shoulders, Sir Hiss give him a gentle squeeze of reassurance. Hissing softly in Harry's ear, he said, “Let it come, Harry. Reach out and touch her then say it, that’s what it wants. No harm will come to either you or her. You have my word that it won't be painful. I also swear that no visions will come from it. The gift just wants you to impart a message to her, nothing more.”Though reluctant, Harry let that—whatever it was, guide him then reached out a trembling hand and took Narcissa's delicate one in his. When she gave him a bewildered look, he said, voice quavering slightly, but soft, “He will love you forever and never hurt you. What he is won't matter. It's something you'll easily be able to handle, especially with the Wolfsbane. Remus will adore you in a way no one since Regulus has. And he will defend you and Draco to the death if you are in danger. Let it happen, Narcissa. He feels the attraction the same as you do and wants this, but is afraid you would reject him because of what he is. You will find true happiness with him.”Eyes wide, stammering, Narcissa stared at Harry. Her gaze then drifted to the scar on his forehead. Like what happened when the final power manifested, the trademark lightning bolt was now in the shape of a serpent, glowing from within. Then her eyes dropped to his. Like before, they were the same color green, but with the slit pupils of a snake. Figuring this was authentic, she stammered, softly, not wanting to break whatever connection this was, telling the equally stunned Petunia, “Go get either Lucius or Sirius.” Hearing Petunia say she would then her leaving the room quickly, Narcissa asked, softly, “He feels the same?” Whatever this was—it was true. No one knew of her attraction to Remus, though, not even him. Since moving in here, she found herself drawn to the man because of his quiet, gentle nature and intelligence. It was something she wouldn't reveal, of course, as she didn't want to risk getting hurt again. There was no chance Harry could have known about it, that's for certain as even Lucius didn't know.“He feels the same and adores you already,” Harry assured her with a nod, being driven by whatever this was. “Since you've moved in, he's been drawn to you, though he has kept it a secret. And he already adores spending time with Draco. If there is one person in the world that would adore your son like Lucius does, it's Remus. His parentage means nothing to him and he would treat him as his own, loving him just like his fathers would. After all, he knows how badly some can be treated and that kindness can go a long ways.”Smiling at that, heart pounding faster than normal, Narcissa ignored the sounds of others coming into the room and put her other trembling hand over Harry's. Giving it a squeeze, she wasn't sure what to say.“Let it happen,” Harry told her then the sensations stopped. Slumping, he shook his head, feeling exhausted. He remembered all of what he said, though and was just stunned by it. Nothing, anywhere, indicated that there was an attraction between Narcissa and Remus.“See? That wasn't so bad, now was it?” Sir Hiss whispered in his ear. “You also made her very happy, Harry. It confirmed something that will make her happy for years to come. That's not anything horrible, is it? Yes, it was personal, but the good kind of personal.”Nodding, the only thing Harry had the energy for, he then tried to lift his head and look at Sirius when his godfather said his name. That he couldn't manage, though, as he felt like he was about to fall asleep on the spot. Whatever just happened seemed to have drained most of his energy.Coming into the room after a slightly panicked Petunia came to get him, Sirius stopped and stared at Harry. Taking in the snake instead of the scar then the eyes, he stiffened, not sure what this was. Saying Harry's name when it was over, he saw his godson look like he was about to drop off to sleep. Hurrying over, he crouched down and put a hand on Harry's cheek. “Are you alright?” He asked softly, rubbing it gently.“He's fine, Sirius,” Sir Hiss assured him. “Just tired, like after the prediction. It's nothing more than that. The first few times of such matters will tire him. After a nap, he'll be as good as new, you have my word.”Relieved by that, Sirius nodded, “Was it another prediction?” He didn't assume it was as he and Lucius didn't get 'involved' like they had with the last one.“Oh, no,” Sir Hiss told him with a chuckle. “If it was, you and Lucius would have known then become involved. It was just something that needed imparted to Narcissa, nothing more. And it was nothing harmful. Harry can fill you in when he gets some rest, or I can. Either one.”“Good,” Sirius said. Casting a lightening charm on Harry, as it looked like his godson was completely exhausted, he said, slipping an arm around him, “Come on, Harry, I'll take you upstairs so you can get some sleep.” Then he began to help him to his feet.Nodding, though it took everything he had, Harry tried to help all he could, but he was so tired that his body didn't seem to want to respond to commands.Standing and watching the two go, Narcissa couldn't help but smile at what Harry told her. Yes, she was going to have to talk with Remus, she thought. Getting this moving the right way was something she wanted. Especially since she now had assurances that he felt the same way.
Sitting in bed with Harry after he woke from a very long nap, Sirius watched him eat the sandwich an elf brought him. His godson had missed dinner because he had slept through it. Though awake, he was still lethargic and just wanted something light. “Feeling better?” He asked, figuring he was, but wanting to make sure.
“Just tired still,” Harry sighed, finishing the sandwich then setting the plate aside. Leaning back against Sirius, he groaned, “I'll probably go back to sleep soon. That took quite a bit out of me.”“Sir Hiss said you'll get used to it soon,” Sirius told him.“I hope so,” Harry chuckled, shaking his head.Thinking over what he saw, Sirius wanted to know just what happened, so he asked Harry to give him a rundown of what went on then what was said. He wasn't so much worried about what Harry said to Narcissa, but to file it away for his own information so they might find a pattern after it happened a few times. After Harry told him, Sirius grinned a little at what was said. Though Remus and Cissy might be an odd couple, they could do each other a world of good, that's for damned sure. However, he honed in on what Harry described and how it felt. Knowing that they might end up with all kinds of people around because of this mess, he asked, “Was there any way that you could have yelled for me or Lucius through the connection when it started?”“No,” Harry told him with a shake of his head. “It's all I could focus on. Maybe later I might be able to, but if they are all like this, there wasn't a chance. It drew me too much for me to focus on anything but that.”“Which means until we get out of this nightmare, either Lucius or I need to stick to you at all times,” Sirius sighed, mind already working over that end of it. Though those in the house wouldn't say a word, it was the others that had him concerned. It was best to get into the habit so that they could get Harry the hell out of the room if something else came. “Nothing to worry about,” Sirius told him, giving him a reassuring squeeze. “It didn't hurt like some of them you've had, did it?” He didn't think so, as Harry hadn't seemed like he was in pain, but wanted to make sure.“No, not at all,” Harry told him. “It was just—uncomfortable because of what I said, nothing more.”“Good,” Sirius told him, relieved. Thinking over what he saw with the eyes and scar, he asked, “No burning in your scar or eyes hurting? Those changed again this time, like they did when the final power manifested.” Someone seeing that bit was not something they needed, that's for damned sure. As it was so odd, it was bound to make the rounds to people they sure as hell didn't want to know.“No, nothing,” Harry assured him, brow furrowed. “I didn't feel anything in either, honestly. So, I had no idea they changed.” Though everyone that saw that bit with the final power explained to him what the scar and eyes looked like, Harry still had a problem visualizing what they meant. It was something so odd that he couldn't wrap his mind around it.That was something they really needed to worry about, but couldn't just hide Harry away if someone came over as that would look even odder. “We need to come up with something. I'll have Lucius get with Cissy and Petunia to see how fast they changed. That way we have at least an idea. If it came before you started talking, we've got problems and need to work on keeping you away from everyone.” Sending a message to Lucius to let him handle it, he held Harry close. Changing topics, he asked, “Is there anything you want to do tonight? It's been a while since the two of us have been by ourselves. So, we can come up with something if you want.”Shutting his eyes, still feeling plenty tired, Harry told him, “Not really. I just want to rest.” Stopping there, he lowered his voice then smiled, “I'd like to keep doing this, though. You holding me is something I love and it feels great.”Grinning at that, giving Harry a squeeze, Sirius told him, “Not a problem. Something we can easily do since I like it just as much as you do. We can just sit here and talk for a while. That I'd like as we've not had a chance to do much of that either. It'll give us time to cover plenty of bits and just talk.” Chuckling, he added, “Please tell me that Cissy and Petunia didn't pick out pinks for colors to decorate with. I don't think I can handle that. Sorry, I know some like pink, but I'd prefer something more manly or neutral for towels and shite.”Laughing at that, Harry said, “That's about what I told her, too! No, she didn't. We have the colors that are on the coat of arms, so they're good.”“Perfect! I can handle that. We just don't want those two taking it in their heads to do feminine whatever for our rooms. They can have theirs that way, but I'd prefer something to suit us.”Grinning, as that's what he said as well, Harry then walked him through what they discussed. Snuggling back against Sirius, he gave a contented sigh before talking about all kinds of bits to do with the castle. This was something he liked anyway, just being held by Sirius, so he was relaxing after all the stress they had been through for the last several weeks. There were plenty of problems they had to work out, no doubt there, but he just wanted to relax and forget those for a while. This would do that.
