Groaning and putting his head in his hands, Severus shook his head at the name of the toy store on the sheet there. He had gotten the basic itinerary the day before, but there was no name for the toy store listed. Now there was and he was already envisioning the nightmare this would become. “Hamleys,” he muttered softly.
Looking amused at this, Remus asked, glancing at the grinning Sirius and Harry, “Do I want to know what's causing this consternation, Severus? And what is Hamleys?”“Several stories of toys,” Sirius grinned, sipping his tea. “We hadn't decided where we were going as of last night. That was until Harry started telling me about it. Since he hasn't been there and it's bound to have all kinds of good shite, that's where we're going.”Lifting his head, looking at the two across the table, seeing the grins there, he let out a sigh then said, “Lupin and I will be availing ourselves of the cafe they have in-house while the two of you run amok. Just make sure no Muggles see anything off.” Then, with a sigh, he added, “And that you have plenty of money for this venture.”“Oh, we'll behave,” Sirius told him, still grinning.Looking at the chuckling Harry, eyebrow up, he said, “You would have mention this store, Mr. Potter.” He wasn't all that stressed by it, of course, it was just the visions of Black running amok and all the bags they were going to have to deal with when they were done. In fact, it might give Harry a much needed good time after dealing with so much.Shrugging, Harry said, “I've always wanted to see it, so I couldn't resist. Besides, it's better than the box stores for so much. We'll get lost in the crowds and anything odd that we might do or say won't get noticed as much.”“There is that,” Severus nodded, not having thought of that end of the equation. Picking up the list, he looked at it, frowning then asked, “It has here a listing for a Muggle department store. What do we need from there?”“That we actually need your help with, Snape,” Sirius said, putting his tea down. Seeing the man about to ask, he explained, “Harry needs a razor and the supplies that go along with it. I'm going to have Lucius grab our kind, as he knows what he's looking for because of Draco, but I want to start him on the Muggle one. We both know that's easier to learn with. I'm not sure what's out there now for that. As you do, we need your help picking this out.”“Understood and easily attended to,” Severus told him with a determined nod. “In fact, he may not want to switch. I still use the Muggle kind as they've come quite far with their technology when it comes to them since we were in school. The ones they have now are not only quite easy to use, but work better, in most cases, than ours, other than the spell driven ones. Those you don't want to use until you're used to them. We'll find something good, rest assured. And we have a way to sharpen the blades so you don't need refills on them either.”“We need to get a metal wrist cuff as well, but that's easy. That's it for that store. If you know a better way to go about this and we don't have to brave a department store, we can go that route,” Sirius explained.“I may,” Severus told him, distracted, thinking it over and what he knew of some Muggle places to get the food. “We'll find something, never fear.” Perusing the list, seeing not many places listed, he asked, bewildered, “What do we need at a pet store? I'm assuming your referring to one of the Muggle variety.” As far as he knew, Hedwig had plenty of treats, so that wouldn't be the issue.“Fish,” Sirius said, softly, grinning. Shaking his head, he added, “Harry wants a fish tank for our room. I sent Kreacher on the hunt for the one I knew we had around years ago. Not only did he find that one, but a huge one that used to be in one of the big parlors, I think, when mother had a 'thing' for those Magical piranhas. It might seem odd, but we're going to have him put it in here. As we're going to spend a buttload of time in here working when it comes to school, I thought it would be a nice, soothing addition. Since the Muggle version of fish and ours are almost identical, I figured go about it this way rather than brave the Alley. Kreacher will have them up and ready by the time we get back.”Pleased that this wasn't some kind of deranged adventure and what Black said made sense, Severus nodded. “We'll save that store until the very last, right before we come home as those aren't something we can shrink.” Changing topics, brow furrowed, he said, “I think I have something better for the food bit than the shoppette not far from here.” Lifting his eyes to Black, he arched a brow then added, tone dry, “If one of us doesn't go completely mental in the place and buy out half the store, that is.”Amused by that and hearing Sirius laugh, Remus asked, “What's that, Severus?”“There's a largish Muggle grocery store that carries not only food, but other bits. We'll do that rather than the department store as they'll have what we need.” Hearing everyone agree, he asked, looking at Harry, “Do you have any idea where you want to go for lunch? It's your pick.”“I thought getting pizza,” Harry told him. “There are plenty of really good places around that aren't those chain stores. Not only it is something we'll all like, we can sit down and relax after all the running around. Plus you lot can have a beer to go with it, as a couple of you might need one after this adventure,” Harry said with a grin.“Lupin and I may need a pitcher each,” Severus agreed with a snort and shake of his head, however he looked pleased with this idea. Looking at Harry, he added, softly, “You're of the age that you can have one of your own if we buy it for you, Harry. So, you can partake if you wish.”“No thanks,” Harry told him with a wrinkle of his nose. “I'll stick with soda there.”“I just wanted it out there,” Severus told him softly. Looking around, he asked, “Are we ready? As I'm sure two of these places will end up long and drawn out when it comes to Black going mental, we need to get started.” Standing with a groan, he waited for the others, sure that this would not only end up frustrating, but hilarious at times.
Taking in the packages that seemed to cover the entirety of Sirius' floor, Lucius gave a snort of amusement. “I will take this as all of you had fun,” he observed. Looking at Severus and Remus, who appeared worn out, “Well, two of you anyway.”
“It wasn't that bad,” Remus chuckled, leaning back and stretching his legs out. “Whatever bad there was about it was countered by the wonderful lunch we had. Harry picked out a magnificent pizza place. It was delicious. I think I can safely say for Severus that it more than made up for whatever else went on.”“I concur,” Severus nodded, looking pleased. “Though I do believe Black and Harry bought out about half the toy store. We had a hard time getting all the bags and boxes out of sight before we shrunk them.”Sorting through the bags as Harry was over watching the fish he had put in the tank, Sirius was pulling out the bits that weren't bad, like the snacks Harry kept up here and the stuff for shaving. The rest he would save until Snape and Remus left. Grinning, he said, “Tons of good shite there! We had a riot. Not to mention we got to play with plenty while we looked. Some we wanted, but they wouldn't last around the magic. We did get some Muggle board games that we all will like as they look like they are plenty of fun.”Snorting at that, looking amused, Severus added, “Those weren't bad. It was the gigantic stuffed creatures that were the issue, Black! Those were bad to haul out of there and we had some real difficulties as we couldn't use magic to do it!”“I didn't think about that when I bought them,” Sirius told him with a sheepish grin. “We managed, though.”“All that matters,” Lucius said, looking completely amused.Sobering up, getting to the matter that had them all up in Sirius’ room, Severus asked, “What happened in court?”“Oh, that was magnificent to behold,” Lucius smirked, a smug look on his face. “The two didn't have anything viable in the way of a defense. Pomfrey admitted her guilt and didn't try. Albus gave it a shot, but was just trounced by the panel for everything that came out of his mouth, on all the charges. Then everyone on the panel took after him for this. And I mean everyone. Including ones that he considers friends. Fudge, though I'm sure he did it to look good, ended up shouting at him over it. Then he demanded that Hogwarts launch an investigation into him over the debacle. You could tell by the look on his face that Albus did not like that one iota. Madam Bones—that was like witnessing a verbal autopsy.”Grinning himself, Sirius nodded, “Good! He needed that. What was the outcome?” He knew it wouldn't be much, but he wanted to know.“They leveled the maximum fine they could on all charges for both of them,” Lucius sighed. “That's really about all they could manage there. However, they did add in, for Albus, as St. Mungos is handling Poppy, that he's required to attend a two day refresher course run by the Ministry about reporting abuse. Then he was ordered to pay the interest on the money he had taken and it would be given to Harry. He was also given a stern lecture to not repeat any of this. They promised him that if any more similar charges come up, they will throw the book at him over all of it. The only thing that helped him is he paid the money back he took from Harry's vaults. If he hadn't, he would have been facing jail time because of the amount.”“That had to be something wonderful to watch,” Remus smiled, though he didn't like that more couldn't be done on the matter.“Oh, it was,” Lucius snorted, looking sadistically pleased. “The hearing itself, the part with their defense, took only about a half an hour. Then it took another for everyone to have their say, that's how bad it was for him. Though I doubt it did any good when it comes to what he's trying to pull, it was great theater.” Looking smugger, he added, “Then Cornelius asked me, in open court, to initiate the Board investigation into him. Of course, I agreed to take on that task.”Laughing loudly, slipping an arm around Harry and pulling him close when he sat down by him on the bed, Sirius snorted, “He had to have hated that. Had. To. It's one thing for Fudge to do his bit and demand it, it's a whole other thing to ask someone on the Board, in court and on the record, to take it on. I'm damned sure he thought he could wiggle around that.”“As am I,” Lucius told him, still looking plenty smug. “I've gotten with the head of the Board and passed along the request. As it was done in open court and is on the record, it'll be tended to accordingly. Janus takes that very seriously and mentioned calling a special meeting about it. I also, in accordance with my assurances it would be attended to, provided him with a transcript of the court proceedings. Harry's name, of course, was redacted as he was underage at the time. It's enough to get it there.”“Wonderful,” Severus added, smirking himself. “This will spin him around in plenty of circles and keep his focus elsewhere.” Sobering up, he asked, “Will the teachers be drawn in?”“Very doubtful,” Lucius told him honestly. “From all we know, the teachers are diligent about reporting overt cases of abuse and ones they suspect. All of you have gone by the book when it comes to that, taking them to the Headmaster. Once you do that, it's out of your hands. How Albus has dealt with them is the focus.” Sighing, he admitted, eyes flitting to Harry, “This is actually probably the only case he hasn't gone by the book on, sadly. From what we all know, he's always been quite vigilant about reporting, going so far as to check on cases to ensure they are handled correctly. That will not help him in this one, rest assured.”“Bloody wonderful,” Harry groused, slouching as he leaned back against Sirius. “This is not the one thing I want to be the exception for!”“Completely understandable,” Lucius soothed. “And I assure you that he'll get slapped over it. It's a well known fact that I can't stand Albus. Everyone and their aunt knows this. I'm now in the position to help and it won't look odd. In fact, my dislike of him will only aid what we are doing on the Board as I can point out that I've made, on the record during Board meetings, the suggestion that he needs investigated multiple times. I fully plan to bring that up, with dates. Then press for us to check into everything. While I might not be able to help you in so many ways, Harry, this one I can and plan to. There will be justice over it, you have my word. Be it he's out, though I doubt I can manage that one, or sanctions levied and us watching over his shoulder. I'm betting the latter on that one. Even if it's that one, though it doesn't sound harsh, it's something he will not like or want as we will be breathing down his neck about everything then checking into how he runs that school. That can stop plenty as he'll be plenty distracted.”“He's right,” Severus nodded in agreement. “Albus being distracted by this and having them oversee more closely will only help all of us, trust me. At the moment, he has free rein over everything in that school and most ignore what he does. If this comes about, he won't. That we need and it can only help whatever is going on with him.”“Understood,” Harry sighed. Shrugging, he added, “It just doesn't undo what he pulled.”“Nothing can do that,” Lucius told him gently. “There is nothing any of us can manage that will change what happened. We can make him pay, though. That I plan to do. You have my word on it.” Seeing Harry nod, he added, smirking once more, “I'm also going to say to let me get with Amos to put out the first feelers of a suit against the Board. That will get them quickly motivated to do what we want. I'm also damned sure that they will settle with you, fast. This is not what they want out there as it was proven in court that what you would be suing over is valid. If you go about it that route, I can use it as leverage to back off others, like Cornelius. While I won't say it on the record when it comes to Board meetings, as that would look odd, I will point out that we will lose if we fight it and look horrible in the process to a select few behind the scenes.”Gazing at the mirror, listening to Sirius tell him that he thought it was a good idea, Harry thought it over then gave a slow nod. “I'll let you. I just don't want drawn in.”“I'll get with Amos today and let him know,” Lucius assured him. Quietly, he added, “You won't, trust me. Any action by you on this matter will have plenty of other bits pulled out that would make every single one of us on that Board look bad for not only personal actions, but lack of oversight. That we don't want.”Nodding, Harry said nothing, leaning fully back against Sirius and snuggling in as his godfather held him.Looking around, Lucius asked, “Anything that needs to be passed on to me?”“Nothing so far,” Severus told him. “I would like everyone to be on their toes, though. I'm going to talk to Albus tonight. He's made it clear that it's about the state of affairs with Harry and other areas. I think he's starting to panic slightly as nothing is working when it comes to what he's doing to rectify the situation. If it's anything we need to stop quickly, I'll come back over and we'll do this again. If not, I'll wait until tomorrow then fill everyone in accordingly.”“Good,” Lucius said.“I'm going to try to get as much out of him as I can,” Severus assured everyone. “It might not be much, but I'll get some. Harry and I are going to get together this week and discuss some of his interactions then he's going to pull memories for me. Once we do that, I do want us all to gather this way so we can toss it about and figure how it all relates. Then we'll press on accordingly.”Nodding, Lucius assured him, “I'll make myself available, you have my word.” Hearing affirmations, he tossed out some various tidbits he picked up while at the Ministry. Though they really meant nothing much, it was best to have everyone on the same page.
Sitting on the floor with Harry after everyone cleared out, Sirius was helping his godson go through all the bags from Hamleys. Pulling out various items, they unshrank them and sent them where they wanted them. Grinning as he looked at the mass of bags, he chuckled, “We had fun, didn't we? That toy store was great and we're doing that again!”
“It was great,” Harry admitted, unshrinking a white tiger that was huge and sending it to 'his room'. Though plenty of this was embarrassing at first when Sirius made it a point of grabbing everything he liked, as it went on, it got easier. His godfather's enthusiasm for what they were doing seemed like it was catching and he found himself having just as much fun, grabbing whatever. They couldn't get some of what he liked because they wouldn't hold up against the magic from them or the house, but they got plenty of others. In fact, he was sure that he got most of the toys and other bits he had always wanted.Unshrinking the art set, he looked at it and grinned. That he wanted to muck about with. Same with the clay that was beside him. They could be a lot of fun.Unshrinking more of the stuffed animals, sending the huge ones they were using as decorations over to the other side of the room, he then sent the smaller ones onto the bed. This trip would save on sending Lucius out for some of it as they are what he wanted to make the 'crib' feel more like a child's bed for Harry. Grabbing another bag, he pulled out the board and card games, sending them into a small cabinet there. “We'll have fun with those, even if it's just with Remus. They aren't complicated, though they don't do what our kind does, and we can have a few nights a week of playing. That'll give all of us some laughs.Sending the art supplies and easel they got over to the other side of the room, Harry nodded, “We will. They are great. It'll give us all something to do as I'm sure that Remus will get plenty bored when Severus goes back to school.”“Doubtful,” Sirius chuckled, unloading all the massive sets of Legos they got, sending them over to the other side as well. “Not only is he taking on grading some of what you do and the lesson plans, he loves reading. I think, sometimes, he prefers doing that to dealing with people. We'll drag him away from his books to play. That and rope Snape in for a few games before he goes back to school.”“That would be great,” Harry grinned, unloading some action figures and movie monsters from the last bag near him and sending them over as well, though saving a stuffed t-rex they got to put on the bed.Sending the last of what he had, other than the one box that was a giant toy chest shaped like a pirate's chest, over to the other side, Sirius looked at the box and said, “I think I'm going to need your help putting this together. Then we're going to doctor it up a bit with expansion charms, compartments and all that. It'll be great to store everything in. If it turns out good, we'll duplicate it and put one at the foot of the bed for other bits.”Glancing at the box, Harry said, brow furrowed, “Those are usually two person jobs that need tools. While they tend to say some assembly required, that means you have to put almost all of it together yourself. And you need several tools to manage.”Shaking his head at that, Sirius snorted, “Why am I not surprised? We'll manage. Not to worry there. Tools—we don't need those as we have wands. With this being wood and metal, it won't be a problem with the magic doing strange things. It'll just take time.” Pushing the box aside, he held Harry close, giving him a kiss on the side of the head. Looking over at 'Harry's room', he grinned. This was great. Harry now had a ton of stuffed animals, though they didn't move like their kind, toys, games, all kinds of bits that he would adore playing with. That should make it easier on him for some of it. Not to mention they were bits they could do together. That he liked even more.Giving Harry a squeeze, he said, “Let's get you changed into your jammies and tackle the chest here. Then we'll go have some fun with the new toys. There is plenty there I want to try out. Not to mention go through those new books we got for the Legos. Those should be great. We've got the castle almost done, so we're going to need a new project after that. And we're not tearing it apart, either. Nope. We're going to add those medieval figures and the dragon we got to it then set it up as a decoration.”“That will be great,” Harry admitted, grinning himself.“Once we get the chest done, we're going to see about sliding into the roles like we talked about. Let's see what we can manage and how many laughing fits we have over it as we both end up saying something to set us off,” Sirius added. He hoped the added levity about that last part would keep Harry calm over it. He was sure it was coming, of course, but it might keep Harry less stressed. While he was slightly anxious about this, as it would be the first time doing that with Sirius other than having sex, Harry wasn't going to let it overstress him, either. “We can do that. I bet we're going to need some laughs after the frustration of getting that chest together.”“Probably,” Sirius agreed, patting him on the arse to get him up. Standing with a groan, he had Harry sit on the bed while he gathered the clothes. This was good and he would see what he could manage from here.
