Roark sipped at the tea. Lemon. Just a touch of honey. Exactly how he liked his strong, sweet black tea. For the next half centar {hour} he said nothing, just drank his tea, and once he had finished, sat forward to put the mug on his desk. Settling back in his chair once again, his arms lifted to cross over his chest, looking at each of them in turn, nearly smirking when he saw how his silence was grating on them all.
Especially Ardyn.
Ardyn, who looked ready to scream at them, to demand to know just what the hell was going on. Only the Durin's...and Severus, kept him in his seat and quiet. They would not take well to ANYONE yelling at Harry OR Roark.
Finally, "Harry, Rory, come on," Desmond all but whined to them, moving to take a seat on the corner of Roark's desk. "Tell us what happened to set you both so on edge. Not to push," though pushing was EXACTLY what he wanted to do, "but your silence is really beginning to get to us all."
"Yes, we can tell," Harry said with a soft chuckle, finally feeling completely relaxed as if nothing could bother him.
"We had a couple of visitors last night," Roark said, his tone soft.
Silence.
Then Tristyn let out a chuckle. "Visitor's was it?" he asked them as he relaxed back into his chair. "Roark, as great as you and your brother getting a life outside of work would be, why would either of you get so worked up over her? Or, for that matter, call us all together just to tell us about it?"
"I wouldn't," came his coolly snapped reply, giving him a glare, "and trust me, Lieutenant, if I cared AT ALL for female companionship, which I do not, I certainly would not be telling any of you about it. My personal life is just that. Personal."
"That goes for me too, on all counts," Harry said with a glare of his own.
That was when Ardyn sat forward, a frown curving his brow. "Okay, so your visitors were not female, but male. The same question applies. Why tell us about your visitors at all?"
This time, despite the level four calming potion running through their veins, emerald and silver eyes turned on him with blistering anger, each taking on the tinge of color from their magic, a yellow, orange/red for Harry, and straight red for Roark.
"Again," came that harsh tone, "Had it been that type of visit--"
"Which it was NOT!" Harry snapped out.
"And again, we certainly wouldn't be telling you about it as, once again, it would be NONE of your business." He ignored the jealousy that flared suddenly in Ardyn's eyes. "No, these particular visitors could never be termed as friendly to either of us. In fact, given their words to us last night, I think we can safely say they are our enemies."
"And very dangerous enemies at that," Harry said.
"Okay then, care to tell us who they were, boys?" Jordan asked as Tyler threw a silencing glare at both Tristyn and Ardyn, as all they were doing was pissing them off.
They didn't NEED them pissed off right now, because when one got angry for any reason, it fed the other, and it was becoming harder and harder to calm Roark down once he reached a certain point. They did not want, nor did they need the boys becoming any more agitated than they already were, despite the calming potion.
Looking over at Severus, he saw him watching the brothers, a frown beginning to curve his brow. : Are they REALLY throwing off a level-four calming potion? : he asked his cousin's husband telepathically.
A nod. : And they should not be able to. It's a testament to just how powerful they are. I'm going to have to figure something else out. And fast. :
"Rodolphus Declan Lestrange."
"Rabastan Archer Lestrange."
They spoke the names together, then sat back, smirks twisting their lips as they awaited their reaction, which was not long in coming. They were all swearing in a matter of microns {seconds}, five of the nine beginning to throw questions at the smirking brothers as they sat watching the chaos they had just caused.
"SILENCE!" Severus roared, stepping forward, turning his midnight eyes on them as silence fell. "Tell us."
"Why the hell didn't you call anyone when they showed up?" came the demand on the heels of Severus.
"To what end, Ardyn?" Roark asked of him, his brow arching at the tone of his voice. "They both gave us their warnings, then issued their threats when it was obvious we weren't going to comply, then they left."
Well, it hadn't exactly been quite that quick, Roark thought as Harry said. "Besides, they were hardly going to wait around for someone to show up at our doors, now were they?"
Severus narrowed his eyes on them. They weren't telling them everything. Something else had to have happened because if it had just been warnings and threats, these two would never have been as unsettled as they were when they had arrived. Hell, still were.
"How can you be so calm about this?!" Tristyn demanded, looking from one to the other. "Voldemort's--" twin black brows shot up at the same time, "Fine," came his exasperated voice, "Tom Riddle's top two Terminators have targeted you, threatened your lives."
Shrugs. "Our lives, Tristyn, have been threatened before," Harry told him. "It's not the first time, nor will it be the last. Besides, I refuse to give Tom Riddle the satisfaction of thinking that his hired thugs have scared me."
Roark was watching Severus watch them as he said, his voice soft, "Nor will I."
"ARE you scared?"
"Not particularly, but we are certainly wary. Rodolphus and Rabastan are, after all, top Terminators for a very good reason. They did not get where they are by being stupid, careless, OR sloppy. No, they had to have been extremely careful in all that they did...still DO. They are meticulous in their plans. They move slowly and carefully, and when they finally do strike, it's hard, and fast. It's part of what makes them so damned dangerous."
"Besides that," Tyler spoke up with a slight tilt of his head, "show an enemy that he has scared you, they'll be sure to try to take advantage of that; take even greater pleasure in the discomfort they've caused by teasing you, taunting you, tormenting you."
"And we all know how much Riddle loves to make his victims suffer," Desmond said as he looked at the two with worry.
Roark chuckled. "Yes, there is that. Rodolphus took my non-show of fear as a challenge, and according to what Harry told me of Rabastan's visit with him, he did the same."
A snort. "They would," Logan said. "A more unpredictable pair of Terminators you will never find."
"Very true," Kili said then. "Those two love challenges, and they find amusement in some of the strangest things. Now, while Rodolphus has never been one to play games, his brother is another matter entirely. Rabastan is known to love to play games. MUCH like the two of you do."
"Oh, GODS," he said with a chuckle as amusement flashed in silver eyes, "isn't that the truth? His exact words were, "You're not afraid of me. Good. That'll make things that much more interesting."
"Rabastan just shrugged and said, "Oh good, you're going to be so much fun to play with. I like it when they think they aren't afraid of me because then I get to prove them wrong.'"
"Rory," Fili pushed away from his lean against the wall, moving to take a seat on the arm of Logan's chair. "Harry, tell us exactly what they said to you."
