Logan sat forward, his blue eyes intent as he looked from one to the other, his fingers twining and forming a steeple under his chin. His pose at this moment made Roark think of Admiral Roark, as, when he was thinking, or planning something, that was his usual pose.
"We want their exact words if you please?"
Neither Harry nor Roark could help it. They began to laugh. "Do you have," Roark began, bringing himself back under control as he looked at him fondly, "just how much like your father you look right now? Only you're a blond version of him."
A bright smile followed his words. "Thank you, Rory, I'll take that as a compliment."
"It was meant to be one," he said with more than a little affection, suddenly feeling a burst of jealousy, startling him and making him glance briefly at its source.
"Tell us what was said to you, boys," Desmond said, seeing Tyler frown suddenly out of the corner of his eye. As he turned his head, he saw Kili's face and followed his frowning gaze to Ardyn. : Ki? Ty? What is it? :
: Nothing we can discuss here right now. : came the answer from Tyler. "You go first, Rory. Tell us of your meeting with Rodolphus Lestrange."
Roark sat back comfortably in his chair, fingers twined together and resting on his stomach. "He came in the terrace doors. Introduced himself, and said he was there to warn me. If I didn't drop my case against Tom Riddle, he would be my death."
"Well, fuck," Logan swore as he sat back in the chair he was in, then tilted his head back to give his brother a sheepish grin when he felt his hands on his shoulders, squeezing. "Sorry, Lex,"
Alexei looked down at him. "Don't worry about it too much this time, especially as I was thinking the exact same thing. Harry, from your expression, I gather Rabastan's message was pretty much the same?"
"Yep," he answered, popping his p, earning him a soft chuckle and a shake of his head. "It was a little different in the word content. Drop the investigation or suffer the consequences of not doing so."
"And was that all, you two?"
Shrugs from them both. "Pretty much, just that it was my choice. I told him my choice was made a long time ago." He looked over at Tristyn, then to Logan. "Do we have anything else on him? On either of them?"
Severus knew damn well they hadn't told them everything, nor, from the sounds of it, did they have any intention of it. He looked from one to the other...there was something they didn't want them to know, and he was damned if he was going to let them keep it from him. As soon as he got them alone...
"Next to nothing. We know that Rodolphus is married, of course, that he has been for a number of yahrens {year} to Bellatrix Black-Lestrange, and yes, before you explode over there, Harry, she is related to your father's friend, Sirius Black. His cousin. We called him to ask him about her, but he had little to say, He did say she's always been a bit odd...enjoyed hurting things from an early age. He hasn't had any contact with her since she left Caprica close to thirteen yahren {years} ago. There was some rumor that she may have been involved in your parents' murder, but no proof was ever found. He also had no idea that she was one of Riddle's top Terminators."
"He did also say that he wasn't at all surprised, though," Kili said as he shifted in his chair. "Back to Rodolphus. He's pretty much kept to himself, has never been as flashy as many of Riddle's Terminators like to be, and hates to make a scene. He has also NEVER been known to deliver, or issue warnings, nor does he normally play games."
"And as we said earlier, Rabastan loves his games," Logan said then, looking over at Harry. "He loves to keep people on their toes, always wondering when, where, and HOW he will strike. He likes to tease, to taunt, and like his brother...when he DOES move in for the kill, he strikes hard, and he strikes fast. His kills, like Rodolphus' are instantaneous, and there is NEVER any evidence left behind."
"Then again, they can both be extremely unpredictable. They like to change things up. Sometimes they move quickly against a given target, taking them out before they even know they're there. Then sometimes, on rare occasions, they like to take their time...keep the target wondering...trying to figure out when, where, and how. It's part of why they're so damned dangerous and so deadly."
"So why me then?" he asked of them. "'Let the games begin,' he said to me just before he walked out. He doesn't like games, and yet he has decided he's going to play with me," he looked around the room. "So, why am I so special?" he asked, but then his gaze suddenly sharpened, his eyes widening as if something had just come to him.
Which it had, but damned if he was going to share it with them. They would have a MAJOR conniption fit, and make sure that he had guards on him at all times. Oh, HELL NO. That was so NOT going to happen. Not when he WANTED to be approached by Rodolphus Declan Lestrange. He wanted...No, he NEEDED to talk to him again.
"What is it, Rory?" Fili asked him. "You just thought of something."
"It's an idea, but I need to work on it a bit. Tris, Logan, Ki, keep digging. See if you can find anything else else on either one of them. But I want you to be careful. I don't think either of them would like it very much if they found out you were looking into them. Fi, get back to work on those drop locations. I NEED to know where they're coming in, and when. Ardyn, as soon as I get that information, I want you and your people ready to move."
"We will be."
"Doesn't anything phase you, Roark?" Tristyn asked, then he looked at Harry, who had turned and was already opening his laptop. "Either of you?"
"Sure, but after everything we're been through...First at Hogwarts, then at the Academy, then finally at Virgon. This is almost like child's play."
"But way more dangerous, brother mine."
"So very true, which would be why I said almost," he said, then fell silent as he opened his own laptop.
He was about to get to work when he realized he'd heard no one moving and he looked up. "WELL?! There's work to be done. Why are you all still here?"
Harry chuckled as he slid from his brother's desk. Leaving his laptop to run a few programs, he turned, "Hey Lex, care to join me while I go talk to a certain weapon's master again?"
"Sure. Why not?"
"Be careful," Roark called out as they headed for the door.
"No worries, brother, we'll be as careful as we can be," he said as the two left the office.
