Chapter 4: Revelations
On the island of Dendera in the heart of the Nile River Valley a young girl sat and watched the moonlight. Her body aflame with unquenched passion she fought against it determined not to draw them back into her dreams.
"Not this time," she murmured to herself rubbing hands over arms that were riddled with goosebumps. Sighing, she stood and shook back waist length black hair. A white dress made of linen was too light to stave off the cool air of the Egyptian night. As warm arms wrapped around her shoulders from behind the girl let out another sigh and leaned back against the warmth, hoping to warm her body and cool her ardor.
"Athyr, you should not be out," a warm voice chastised the girl. "Re, knows you are here. It would not do to give him an opportunity to take you away," the voice warned.
"I did not ask for Re to hunt for me," mumbled the teen from the warming embrace. Besides," Amber eyes turned to face brown, "he is unable to reach Dendera, he is now an outcast, forbidden to ever touch these shores again."
"Ah, but you forget that there are many ways for him to still reach you," warm arms tightened around the teen. "Who could stop him from taking you if you ever decided to venture forth from Dendera?"
"Dog Star would never let that happen."
"I’m afraid that your Dog Star has problems of his own that he must attend to. Now," brown eyes again met amber, "why are you outside."
"I had that dream again," amber eyes dropped to the ground as a flush spread across her cheeks. "I do not know them and yet I am drawn to them. I want them as a woman wants a man," pulling out of the warm embrace she turned again to stand alone in the moonlight. "I do not wish to have history repeat itself. I do not wish to be in anguish again, my heart could not take it," she murmured to herself.
"My child, you are my greatest creation and like many times before you know that it is almost impossible to defeat fate. As in times of old they will come to you, but you must decide how you will react."
"I do not want to make that decision!"
"You will have to and maybe sooner than you think," the calming voice trailed off and the stillness of the night was shattered with the horrifying cries of the dying.
"What’s happening," the young girl asked.
"It has begun. . .you must go," brown eyes hardened as they glanced over the young girls shoulder and into the dark jungle beyond. The crashing of things, inhuman things, began to race closer to where they stood in the clearing.
"I can’t go! I will stay and fight," the teen’s amber eyes flashed in defiance, but soon quelled under the flaming lights that lit the brown eyes now staring down at her.
"You will fight soon," the soothing voice was now taking on an otherworldly ton the the wind began to shift around her. "Athyr, you must go to the temple and grab sand from the sculpture of Isis, toss it into the fire and call for your Dog Star and step into the fire," the crashing became louder Athyr was moved behind and shielded from what came crashing through.
"I won’t leave you. . ." Athyr began, trying to force her way back to the side and fight.
"YOU WILL GO!!! NOW!!!" The voice was no longer calm; it no longer tried to comfort. This was the voice of a god long asleep. The power behind that voice forced Athyr back. Tears forming in her eyhe rhe ran to the temple never once looking back to see if she was being trailed or to watch the battle that she could hear the beginnings of.

"Harry I’m not sure how you’re able to remember her or even how you dreamed of her. I was only on the island for a short time, but in that time I came to see that she was very special. The women on the island appeared to be priestesses of some kind," Sirius’ brow furrowed as he tried to remember more about the island and what he saw. "She appeared to be some sort of deity that they were paying homage to, but she didn’t act that way. She was calm and she laughed a lot, she seemed so much older than she truly was."
"I don’t know how I came to dream about her," Harry said clutching Draco’s hand tighter. "I mean it’s not as if I’ve ever wanted a woman. Cho was just a passing fancy, someone I fixated on because I thought I was supposed to like girls." Harry tried to rationalize the situation to himself in hopes of making sense of what was happening.
"I never even heard them speak her name," Sirius said. "It was as if speaking her name was unnecessary. She seemed to know when someone wanted or needed something of her and she immediately supplied. She was nurturing to all people and creatures."
"Well," Draco spoke up. "I for one want to know more about this deity now that she has begun invading Harry’s dreams. I would also like to know what I was doing there and why I didn’t have the same dream."
The four men contemplated all that they had learned in the few minutes that they had been sitting in the living room. Trying to piece together the very few pieces of a puzzle that they really had no way of knowing how to put together.

Racing through the village Athyr tried to hold herself together.
Gone, they’re all gone, she thought to herself. The Hemet netjer, the priestesses of her temple, were all dead. They’re bodies lay strewn through the village like so many paper dolls. White dresses were stained red with their blood. She could still hear their screams as she made her way into the temple.
With her pulse pounding in her ears she raced toward the sculpture of Isis. As she reached for a handful of sand a body slammed into hers from behind. Rolling to stop herself from slamming into a pillar she turned and faced her enemy.
She hissed upon viewing the abomination before her. A manticore, she thought to herself horrified. Who would release such a demon upon our holy ground? And that is when she heard it, laughter, it floated all around her and filled the temple. Soon she could hear the footsteps as they made their way closer to her. Bracing her back against the pillar she inched upwards until she was standing straight. Fists clenched at her sides and eyes watching the darkness for the owner of the laughter to appear.
"So sad," the voice chimed out. "All of the Hemet netjer are dead, so fragile. If only they would have given me what I wanted."
"Who are you?" Athyr called out defiantly. She attempted to inch her way closer to the sculpture and the sand, thinking that if she could just grab a handful she could make a run for the fire.
"I wouldn’t do that if I were you," the voice singsonged out of the darkness. The manticore lunged at her and seemed to be jerked back by an invisible cord. "The manticore is still very wild and would like nothing more than to sink his teeth into more nubile flesh. If only I didn’t have to take you back in one piece. I would probably oblige him." Finally, a body came into view. He was tall, with skin like jet, stretched across high cheekbones, and long limbs. Muscles rippled with a careful grace as the man stepped into the dim light of the sconces along the wall. Athyr gasped as she saw the marking in the center of his forehead.
"The eye of Horus," she hissed out. "How dare he give you that mark," amber eyes narrowed and Athyr could feel the fire in her veins seeking and outlet. "Blasphemer and abomination, only the vessel may carry that mark. You have damned your soul for eternity." Her spine stiffened as she stood away from the wall. The manticore took one step in her direction and then sniffed the air, with a growl, it began to back away, closer to the man who bore the mark.
"You will not defile my temple," as the words left her mouth Athyr could feel the chant following. In an ancient tongue, long forgotten Athyr called upon her earth to wipe away the plight that had dared to offend. To chase away the malign that had blighted her disciples and clear the air of its foulness. The power forced its way through Athyr taking the fire in her blood and giving it corporeal form. Tigers of the largest stature manifested themselves by her side. The temple itself glowed with the power that Athyr wielded.
The being that had at one time laughed at Athyr’s fear began to cower back, attempting to inch its way back into the darkness. The temple was soon alight as all of the sconces burst into flame casting light into every corner. The tigers growled and fell upon the manticore tearing it limb from limb and devouring it whole. Their task done the tigers returned to the earth from which they had been created.
Athyr stalked the being marked with the eye of Horus determined to smite him from existence.
Unable to run from the presence that was Athyr the being cowered in place as she approached. Placing a palm upon the symbol on his forhead Athyr allowed her power to spill forth. The power pulled from him his soul and stripped him of his mark deeming him unworthy of the eye. Athyr watched with uncaring eyes as the body writhed on the ground, soulless and unable to maintain its form the being exploded in a shower of sparks that rained down upon the stones of the temple and were swept away with a thought from Athyr.
Drained and tearful, Athyr reached into the sculpture of Isis and grabbed a handful of sand and tossed it into the fire. As it flared green she walked into the fire and calling out "Dog Star," tearfully she disappeared from everything and everyone she had ever known.

"Harry, why don’t we fire call Dumbledore and ask him if he has any ideas about why you would dream about some woman he’s never met?" Draco suggested.
"Fine," Harry said dejectedly. He was out of solutions and at this point any information would be useful. He usually tried not to bother the Headmaster of Hogwarts during the summer break, but he was out of options and more questions than answers at this point.
Draco crossed to the fireplace and tossed some floo powder into the fireplace. The fire flared green and just as Draco was about to speak Dumbledore’s name a body flew out of the fireplace and into Draco.
"What the hell. . ."Draco slammed into the couch and was unhurt, and when he lifted his head he found himself staring into a pair of startled amber eyes. "Dog star," a husky voice, tinged with an accent that Draco couldn’t place mumbled before the eyes shut and the body passed out.
AN: (author ducks flying tomatoes) I know I promised an explanation in this chapter, but it just ran away with me and I couldn’t bring it back to where I wanted it to go so I ran with it. Hopefully, the next chapter will shed a little light on what’s going on.
