Chapter 4. Early Morning Wake up Calls (part 1)

Severus had finally fallen asleep around dawn, he wasn’t going to be able to teach that day, so he stayed up and contemplated how he was going to tell Harry the truth, and actually get the whelp to understand.

In his groggy, demented sleep, Severus twisted and turned, unable to find a comfortable spot. He’d fallen asleep on the couch and boards were digging into his spine, but not for long.

Outside, in the corridor, there was a knock, shuffling, rattling of the door knob, and finally a bang, which sent the tired Severus to the floor. He groaned and stood up, wand at the ready, waiting only moments to see who had decided to disturb his much needed rest.

“My dear boy, when are you going to learn to sleep in a bed, like normal people?” An elderly voice questioned the raven haired man.

For a moment, Severus thought about cursing the speaker, but decided against it and sat down on the couch, rubbing his red and itchy eyes, “Must you be such a bother, Albus. Can’t a pregnant man get any rest in this castle?”

“Of course, but I haven’t seen… oh, you mean you. Why, Severus I thought you would have the brains to go to sleep at a decent hour and get used to the fact that you’re not only sleeping to help yourself but your child. What is that has kept you up all night?”

“If you really must know, which of course you must, Harry denied the fact that he’s the father of this brat and then decided I was trying to force him to claim it in order for the child to have two fathers. I myself know that if need be; I can raise this child myself. I don’t need some selfish pig-headed man helping me.” Severus mumbled, still rubbing his eyes.

“Severus both you and I know that that won’t be possible. You’ve got many other things to do besides being a single father. Besides that, you need to bond with the child’s father, or all three of you will die. Your magic will be ripped out of both of you, then join whenever they meet, causing a wonderful set of fireworks.” Albus said, moving to sit down beside Severus, the twinkle in his eyes fading.

“Dear lord, must you paint such a lovely picture, especially since that’s what’s going to happen to me and Harry.”

“Only if you let it, Severus, my boy.”

“Albus, I don’t know what else to do. He won’t believe me, no matter what I say to him. I can’t eat or sleep. My body is craving his magic and the child in me, though not more that cells is affecting my very being. I can’t get anything right. I need his magic to help me with the pregnancy.”

“Perhaps, you could try talking to him civilly and get him to respond to you that way. Either that or you use a pensive.”

“I can’t wait too long, Albus. I’ll surely die without his magic near me, enfolding me.”

“Very well, pensive it will be.” Albus pulled a small box out of his pocket and smiled the twinkle very apparent.

“Can I have a few moments alone?”

“Of course, I’ll be brewing some… coffee…” Albus took his leave from the room.

Severus focused his mind on that night, put his wand to his temple and pulled a very thin silvery string-like formation from his head. He put it in the box and looked down at it. He craved to relive that night, just once more, for himself.

“Severus, where is the coffee?” Albus called from the kitchen, his voice seemed muffled and strangely distant.

“In the second cupboard from the sink, third shelf, second canister, two scoops.” Severus called before diving into the pensive.

--The Great Hall was lit with many candles, some light blue some green. Music was playing softly in the background as Severus watched himself twirling about the dance floor gracefully with Harry Potter. He noticed all eyes were on them, some people smiling, other glaring. He sat down at a table and watched as the Pensive him and Harry moved to sit near him. He moved closer to hear the words being spoken.

“Severus, why have you been hiding the fact that we’re perfect together? The way you glide gracefully across the floor as I hold you in my arms. The fact that your body fits perfectly with mine. Your warm and soft breath drifting across my neck. Everything about us, about you is so perfect, yet dark and mysterious all at the same time.”

“Are you mad, Potter? Or are you just trying to get me into the sack?”

“With love, is it working?” Harry asked batting his eyelashes.

“Yes, unfortunately. Lets go to your rooms.” Severus said breathlessly as he stood and took Harry’s hand.

Severus stood also, following himself and Harry out of the Great Hall and to Harry’s rooms. Once inside, Severus noticed the warm feeling of the room. He followed himself and Harry into the bedroom, watching as clothes were being thrown from their bodies as if they were on fire.

He watched as Harry laid him down on the bed, kissed him hungrily…-

He felt himself being pulled from the pensive. He gasped as he was sat down on the couch and glared at the older man whose hand still held his.

“Let’s not live in the past, Severus. Think of your future, your child… of Harry.” Albus said, moving away and taking the box with him, “I’ve got a visit to make. I’ll be seeing you shortly with good or bad news. Good Bye Severus.”

With that, Albus left, leaving Severus there, thinking of the past, remembering how Harry smelled, how he tasted, how he felt. Tears began to fall from the man\'s eyes, this was the second time he\'d cried since he was five. A foreign concept, that made him weep even more.
