Part 4: Brena
Draco had never been on a muggle contraption like this before, and though he’d heard of his uncle’s penchant for muggle things, he hadn’t believe it until he’d been taken to the “airport” and put on a plane headed for Salem, Massachusettes.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and he’d be enjoying it more--if he wasn’t going to America after the death of his father.
Mother had been taken to St. Mungo’s, unable to handle the stress of Father’s death. His uncle, Father’s younger brother, had taken custody of Draco and had ordered, almost immediately, that Draco be transferred to the Salem Magical Institute for Witches and Wizards for “his own protection.” Why in the bloody hell would he need to be protected.
Though the Malfoy’s were considered to be the most upstanding of Wizard nobility, there were still those who the Malfoys considered “black sheep.” His uncle had moved to America in order to expand the family’s holdings, but had loved it so much that he had decided to stay. Uncle Adonis was eccentric to the extreme...
Eros, Draco’s older cousin, took after him.
The plane was “landing”, and Draco sighed, adjusting his new shirt. He was currently wearing a light blue silk shirt and a pair of black slacks. He was told that Americans were much more free with what they wore amongst other wizards, preferring to blend in with muggles rather than stand out. Uncle Adonis had sent these clothes to him as a gift.
He also had a letter from his father to read as soon as he was safely situated in the Malfoy Estate. It was in his father’s handwriting, and he knew that whatever it was, it was of great importance. Why the Dark Lord had killed his father was still a mystery, but he was sure all of his pertinent questions would be answered when he read the letter.
“I love you, my son.” Lucius said, clasping Draco’s shoulder. He finally gave in to emotion, pulling Draco into a close embrace. “No matter what happens, remember that I love you, and that everything I’ve done, I‘ve done for your sake.”
Tears filled Draco’s eyes as he thought of his father’s last words to him. He’d been doing his homework for Hogwarts when he finally saw his father standing in the doorway to his room. His father had come toward him, said those words, and had turned quickly on his heels and left the room.
Draco’s thoughts were still on his father when the plane finally came to a stop. He picked up his bag--the one with all of his homework and family documents in it--before he stood. Time to see his new home....

Uncle Hyacinthe was beyond wicked.
He was everything Aunt Petunia wasn’t. Probably one of the most outgoing people Harry had ever met, Uncle Hyacinthe had a way of making just about everyone like him. He had an infectious smile, and was incredibly affectionate toward Harry. In two days, he seemed determined to make up for 15 years of neglect, and had spent an ungodlyamount of money on everything he thought Harry would need in the United States.
Finding out that he would be transferring to the Salem Magical Institute was a disturbing, but welcome, shock. He was going someplace new, meeting his cousin--who Uncle Hyacinthe was quite proud of--and being treated like he was a member of a family. Besides the fact that he would have to make new friends, meet new professors, and get used to a new school, things were going quite smashingly.
On the flight to America--on a muggle plane, no less--Uncle Hyacinthe told him alot about Hibiscus. His cousin was incredibly smart, if quiet, and was a year older than Harry himself. He had been named Valedictorian--the equivalent of Head Boy--and though he wasn’t in House Hermetic--whatever that was--he was one of the most talented wizards of his generation. Harry couldn’t wait to meet him.
He also learned alot about his mother and father. Apparently, the Evans’ weren’t muggles at all. They were a pureblood family that could trace itself back almost as far as the Potters, who were direct decendants of Godric Gryffindor. There were some rumors that they were actually descended from Hufflepuff, but a little more genealogical research would have to be done to be completely sure.
Aunt Petunia was merely a squib.
They’d gotten off the plane to see a young man--about 17--waiting for them in the lounge of the airport, his green eyes lighting up at the sight of Hyacinthe. Hyacinthe smiled as they went toward him, and Harry knew immediately who this was.
His cousin, Hibiscus Evans.
Hibiscus was about an inch or two taller than Harry, with eyes as green as his father’s and hair that was the same auburn, though it had been grown to reach his shoulders. He smiled upon seeing Harry, offering his hand.
“I’m Hibiscus...but you can call me H.B.” he said, his voice shockingly American. “And you must be Harry.”
Harry nodded, “That’s right.” he stated, though he was shocked from speaking further by a small animal landing on his chest and climbing into the pocket of his new leather jacket. It burrowed down into it, settling before it poked it’s head out and looked up at Harry curiously.
“That’s Enya.” H.B. said, answering Harry’s shocked look. “He’s a sugar-glider. He likes to be close to people. That’s his way of saying hello.”
Harry smirked. Uncle Hyacinthe hadn’t been exaggerating when he said Hibiscus loved animals. He scratched the little rodent’s head. “He’s wicked.”
“I could get you one if you don’t think Hedwig would be jealous.” Hibiscus offered. “They’re a little high-maintenance, but they’re great friends.”
Harry shook his head. “I’m going to have some adjusting to do. I’ll just borrow him from time to time.” he said jokingly.
Hibiscus shrugged. “That’s fine with me.”
There was suddenly a small commotion coming from Harry’s left, and he looked up to see two young men--about H.B.’s age, stand as another person came from outside. Apparently, Harry’s plane hadn’t been the only one to land today.
One of them looked decidedly familiar, though he really didn’t pay it much mind. He was tall, with the white-blonde hair and silver eyes that would forever remind him of the Malfoys while the other, who was just about an inch shorter, looked decidedly exotic--black hair, black eyes, and incredibly dark skin.
But the person who had just come through the door was someone Harry knew very well indeed.
Draco Malfoy.

Once again, short and boring exposition...but it’ll start getting good next chapter. I may have *gasp* plot!
Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out soon enough!!
If there is anything you’d like to see, just mail me and I’ll see what I can do. I’m trying to balance this with the writing of my own novel, so it’s gonna be slow in coming.
And I’m alwaysopen to new ideas.
