“You
look happy.”
Hermione
looked up at Luna. “I do?”
“Yeah,”
she nodded, sipping her coffee. “Maybe it has to do with your mystery lover?”
“Oh
please, don’t tell me that Ron...”
“...hardly
talks about anything else these days,” the blonde stated, with a small smile,
her big dazed eyes fixed on Hermione.
“He
really needs to find something better to do with his time.”
“But
seriously Hermione, there is someone
right?” Hermione glared at her and she flashed her a smile. “I swear that Ron
didn’t ask me to talk about it with you. I want to know, as your friend.” A
pause followed and Luna gave her an encouraging smile. “Come on, I’m sure that
you’re dying to talk about it with someone.”
Hermione
added some sugar to her coffee, and avoided Luna’s eyes. “Well... It’s nothing
serious.”
“Oh,
you mean it’s just shagging?” Luna laughed at the scandalized look that
Hermione shot her. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
“It’s
not like me to do something like this, you know? I would’ve never thought that
I would get involved in something like this... But I just can’t stop.”
“Is
he good?”
“Very good.”
“And
how long has this been going on?”
“About
three weeks.”
“And
it’s still just sex? No strings attached? No emotions involved?” Luna asked,
and her face clearly stated that she didn’t believe that was the case.
Hermione
bit her lip. “It’s not— It’s more complicated than that. But we aren’t a
couple. We just—”
“—satisfy
the other’s needs,” Luna completed bluntly.
Hermione
sighed and drank half of her coffee. “Do you think it’s possible? To have sex
with someone, to share something so intimate and not feeling anything else?”
Luna
tapped her fingers on the table, pondering the question. “There are people that
have no problem with that kind of relationship. But you’re not that type of
person, Hermione. And neither is Harry.”
Hermione
almost choked, and it took her a whole minute to stop coughing. “What does
Harry have to do with anything?”
Luna
smiled knowingly at her. “It’s written all over you. I could tell right away when
I saw you two on the Burrow the other day. Don’t worry, Ron doesn’t even
suspect it.”
“Please,
don’t tell him. Don’t tell anyone.”
“I
won’t. But are you sure about what you’re doing? Harry’s your best friend. This
could turn out wonderful, but it could also become a real mess.”
“I
thought so to, at the beginning. But nothing has changed between us, aside
from... you know. I mean, we’re still the same.” And the truth was she didn’t
know if she could stop it, either.
“Just
take care of yourself, okay?” Luna said, her face strangely focused. “And watch
out for Ginny. You know she’s still hung up with Harry. I don’t think she’d
like it if she found out about you two.”
“She
doesn’t need to know. Harry and I are not a couple. We’re still best friends.
And if we ever find someone else we want to be with, it will just stop.”
“You
sound like you want to convince yourself.”
“No,
it’s just the way it is.”
Luna
let out a sigh of disbilief, before ordering another cup of coffee. “By the
way, what happened to that bloke you work with? Aaron? Albert?”
“Alfred?
What about him?”
“Didn’t
he have the hots for you?”
“Ah,
well... He’s a nice guy. We get along fine.”
“What
if he asked you to a date? Would Harry get jealous?”
Hermione
rolled her eyes. “Luna, cut it out. I told you, already. Harry and I aren’t
together. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. But I’m not planning to date anyone,
so...”
“Just
an hypotetical case, Hermione.”

Hermione
didn’t know if she should feel relieved or worried that Luna knew. She was sure
she wouldn’t tell anyone, and it felt good to have someone to talk to, but on
the other hand, she had the suspicion Harry wouldn’t like it if other people
found out about them... What if he got angry, and everything was over?
What has to happen will happen, she reminded herself, and decided it was about time to go home. She’d
stayed until very late at St. Mungo’s catching up with the work she’d been
dragging over a week now, and her shift had been over for a while now. She took
off her Healer robes and locked her office.
St. Mungo’s wasn’t too far
from Grimmauld Place,
and she was feeling like walking, not apparating. Usually she returned home by
foot, it was a nice time to think and clear her head, but lately she’d been in
a rush to get home to Harry, and it had been a long time since she had done
this.
She
was about two blocks away from the house when she felt it. Someone was watching
her. Over the years, her senses had
become sharp enough, and even if she couldn’t hear or see anything, her intuiton
told her that someone was, indeed, following her. She looked around carefully,
but the street was empty.
She
told herself to be calm, and kept walking. Her wand was in her pocket, and she
could reach it in a quick movement. The feeling, again. She was sure she was
being followed! She turned around fully this time, but there wasn’t anyone
there. Which didn’t mean anything, because whoever it was could be using an
Invisibility Cloak, or a Charm...
She
took out her wand and muttered a spell she had learnt in her last year at
school. It would make her see through any cloak or charm. But, again, she
couldn’t spot anyone. She felt a chill running though her spine. She didn’t
want to admit it, but she was scared. Maybe it was because of those anonymous
letters she’d been receiving, but all of a sudden, all she wanted to do was
run.
She
started walking faster, but the certainty that she was being followed didn’t go
away. By the time she reached Grimmauld
Place number 12, she was panting. She opened the
door, and before she could enter, she heard a familiar noise. Someone had
disapparated. She was right, then. She was being followed. But who was it? And
why?
A
hand on her shoulder almost made her jump out of her skin, and she couldn’t
suppress the gasp that came out.
“Hermione?
What’s wrong?”
Harry
had appeared out of nowhere, or at least that’s what she thought at the moment,
and was staring at her with concern.
“H-Harry,”
she muttered, trying to steady her voice. “I didn’t see you there...”
“I
was at the living room and heard you opening the door... I was wondering what
was taking you so long.”
She
realized she was still holding the door knob and released it hastily. “Ah,” she
said, and walked past him, into the warm house. She sighed in relief, she felt
safe there.
“What
happened? You look shaken,” Harry noticed, his eyes boring into her.
“Shaken?
I’m just cold,” she said, smiling. “Nothing happened, Harry,” she assured him.
“Are
you sure? You’re acting strange,” he insisted.
“Nothing
happened,” she repeated. Suddenly she wanted to go to her room and stay away
from him. She didn’t want to tell him that she had been followed, because that
would lead him to the letters, and the last thing he needed was worrying about
some stupid person’s pranks.
Harry
grabbed her arm before she could go up the stairs. “You’re not telling the
truth. Why were you looking so scared? I saw you standing at the entrance.”
“I
told you already...”
“Stop
lying!” He roared, startling her. “Why won’t you tell me what the heck is going
on?”
She
didn’t know why he was acting like that, but she couldn’t help getting
irritated. “You have no right to say that to me, when the only one who’s always
hiding things is you,” she said, pulling her arm from his grasp and going to
her room, slamming the door behind her.

Hermione
hadn’t expected Harry to show up at her room, but that only made her more
upset. He could have at least tried to talk to her... Or was he okay with this?
Maybe he didn’t really care if she decided to stay away from him a couple of
nights.
She
could’t sleep and she was hungry, having skipped dinner. It was about 3 am, but
she decided to go to the kitchen anyway. At least she wouldn’t have to see
Harry...
But
she was wrong. The first thing she saw when she stepped inside the kitchen was
him, sitting at the table with a tired expression. He had some sandwiched in
front of him, and when he saw Hermione coming in, he pushed the dish a little,
offering her one.
She
grabbed one and sat on the chair next to him, not muttering a word. They ate in
silence for a couple of minutes.
“I’m
going away,” he said, suddenly.
She
stared at him, not understanding.
“I
need to make a trip. Work,” he added, hastily, before she asked.
She
couldn’t help the empty feeling that surrounded her. “For how long?”
“I
don’t know. A week. Two... Depends.”
She
didn’t want him to leave her alone. She was too used to be with him. But she
didn’t let those thoughts reflect on her face, nor her voice. “I see. And when
will you be leaving?”
“In
a couple of hours.”
So soon? And you only tell me about this now? “Well. Good luck, then. Be careful,” she stood up, hating herself. She
was supposed to support him, or at leats be worried about him, but all she
could feel was the urge to ask him to stay. Selfish.
She
left him alone in the kitchen, and went up the stairs, slowly. What was wrong
with her? She wasn’t acting like herself, at all. She should go back down there
and say goodbye to her friend properly.
But
she didn’t have the chance to do so. When she turned around, she saw that Harry
had followed her, and was now looking at her with a conflicted expression. He
reached his hand out and she took it, hugging him tightly.
“I’m
sorry,” they both said at one time. Harry chuckled and Hermione realized that
his smile was very arousing.
She
kissed him softly, licking his lips so he would open his mouth under hers. They
kissed for what felt like hours, and what started like a slow action turned
into a violent snogging session when they stumbled through the hallway trying
to reach a bedroom.
By
the time they make it to his bed, they had discarded they clothes already.
Hermione
took his glasses off, and he immediately attacked her body with open mouth
kisses, leaving a hot, wet trail wherever he touched. She absent mindly put her
legs over her shoulders, and he understood right away what she wanted. He
obliged gladly, and lowered his body until his face was at her crotch’s level.
He
started slowly and teasingly, and Hermione wiggled, loving his mouth more than
ever. The vision of his head buried between her legs, his tongue going deep
inside her while his nose brushed her clit over and over, was making her
approach her climax at top speed. She knew he wouldn’t stop what he was doing
until she had reached it, so she just let go and enjoyed the ride, twisting the
sheet under her fists.
When
Harry crawled up her body, she turned them around, until she was on top. She
kissed him hard, and he kneaded her breasts at the same time she guided his
cock inside her. He fit so well in there, she thought, while she started
moving, her hands seeking level on his chest. He took advantage of his position
and kept one hand on her breast, while the other sneaked down, to where they
were joined, and started rubbing her clit in rhythm with her movements.
She
moved as fast as she could, but it felt so good that it made her arms week, and
soon she lowered her upper body, until her breasts were touching his chest and
their faces were close enough for them to kiss. Harry helped her keep the pace
by holding her hips, his own pelvis moving without rest to meet with hers.
She
came a second later he did, and let her head rest on his chest, not wanting him
to pull away yet. He circled his arms around her, trying to regain his breath.
Hermione really loved the moment they spent after they’d shagged, she felt so
content and relaxed that she knew she would miss it when he was away.
“Will
you be okay while I’m away?” he asked in a low voice in her ear, still panting
slightly.
She
nodded. She wanted to say she’d miss him, but she decided it was better to keep
it to herself.
“You
won’t tell me what happened today?”
She
looked up at him. She had hoped he would drop it, but she had obviously
understimated how fixated Harry could be. She sighed. “It was nothing much,
honestly. I think I was just a little paranoid, that’s all. I had the feeling
that someone was following me, but there wasn’t anyone there.”
Harry’s
face regained his stern expression for a moment. “Maybe you shouldn’t stay here
alone while I’m gone.”
“Oh
Harry,” she said, pulling away from his embrace and laying by his side. “I’ve
lived alone since I finished Hogwarts. I can take care of myself. I’m telling
you, it was nothing.”
