That evening was the first time Hermione saw Draco and Blaise kiss. Draco was sitting on the sofa, while she had gone upstairs to get one of her books. Blaise arrived for their usual study session while she was gone.
"Where is she?" Blaise asked.
"Upstairs." She could see Blaise's grin as he leaned down and pressed his lips to Draco's.
"You know, I don't think Hermione would have a problem with us." Blaise stated, pulling back.
"I agree with Blaise, actually." Hermione descended the rest of the stairs. "And I've yet to decide if I'm angry at you for having not told me this." She sat, crosslegged, on the couch beside Draco, facing the two boys.
"If it helps any, we only didn't tell you because we weren't sure of your reaction." Blaise informed her.
"There' nothing to worry about on that front. But I guess I'm not mad at you then."
"Wonderful. Oh and....." Whatever Draco was about to say was cut off by Pansy bursting into their common room.
"That lowly arsehole!" She stormed into the room and began pacing. "Sorry Granger."
"No worries, Parkinson. But who're you talking about?" Hermione asked.
"My ex-boyfriend, Terry Boot. See, he goes out with a girl only for her to find out that he's...."
"... actually dating his 'best mate' Micheal Corner." Hermione cut her off.
"He got to you too?"
"I found out two weeks into the summer vacation. You?"
"A week before school started, actually."
"Who'd he go for this time?" Hermione asked.
"Rebecca Wood, Ravenclaw."
"Oliver's little sister?" Pansy nodded. "We have to tell her. We can't let her find out on her own."
"What makes you think she'll listen to us?"
"She might not, but we have to try."
"Wait a minute! That's the painful subject that also makes you feel kind of stupid, isn't it?" Draco asked.
"Yes, it is. But that's beside the point. We have to tell Becca."
"When? They're both Ravenclaws; we'll never get her alone." Pansy sighed.
"Sure we will. The two of us will figure something out, I'm sure." Hermione insisted.
It wasn't until a couple weeks later that they got a chance to tell Becca about Terry and Micheal.
Hermione and Blaise walked into the library and Hermione stopped. "Blaise, I need you to run and get Pansy. Tell her to hurry, I don't know how much longer she'll be alone." Nodding, he left to find her.
"Hello Hermione."
"Hi Becca. Mind if I sit here?" Hermione gestured to the empty seat across from her.
"Not at all. Oh, I've been meaning to ask you, how's your dorm assignment? I know you're stuck with Malfoy."
"It's not bad actually. Draco and I are actually friends now."
"That's cool."
"Becca, I need to talk to you about something. You're dating Terry Boot, right?"
"Yeah. How did you know?"
"I heard Pansy ranting about it and I'm glad I did." She paused. "Becca, he's cheating on you with Micheal Corner."
"No, Hermione. They're just friends."
"They're not actually. They haven't been for a while." Pansy joined the two of them.
"Take it from people who've been there, Becca."
"You're both serious, aren't you? He's gotten to you both?" They nodded. "That bastard! Why does he keep doing this?"
"We don't know, Becca. But we decided you should know the truth." Hermione answered.
"Thank you both for that." The three girls sat talking to each other until dinner when they seperated to go to their own House tables.

The next morning at breakfast, Hermione got an odd letter.
Miss Granger,
I am afraid that you are the only person I can turn to right now. I have information that would help you. Please meet me in the clearing in the woods on the way to Hogsmeade this Saturday at 2:30pm.
It was signed with only a family crest, one Hermione knew but couldn't quite place.
