¡§What do you mean Hermione Granger is coming to teach at Hogwarts?¡¨ Snape raged as he stormed around Dumbledore¡¦s office.

¡§Severus, she is coming here to take over Minerva¡¦s classes and as head of Gryffindor. Harry Potter is also going to be teaching here this coming year.¡¨ Dumbledore watched his Potion Masters eyes widen in shock at the news that two of his least favorite students would be his colleagues.

Snape stormed out of Dumbledore¡¦s office slamming the door behind him. Going to his quarters he paced around his room. ¡§I need a break; I can¡¦t be here when she comes.¡¨ He mumbled to himself as a plan started to formulate in his head. Rushing to his dresser he packed a bag and sent a note to an old colleague of his. A short while later he returned to Dumbledore¡¦s office.

¡§Albus I am going to take a sabbatical until Christmas break.¡¨ Snape said and saw a shocked look on Dumbledore¡¦s face.

¡§Severus this doesn¡¦t give us much time to find a replacement and will you tell me why you suddenly feel the need to go away.¡¨

Snape shrugged ¡§I just felt like taking a break and since you are getting all these new staff members it was as good a time as any to take a sabbatical and Slughorn agreed to come and teach my classes until I return.¡¨

¡§Well it looks to me like you solved all the pressing issues. If you really wish to go then you have my permission. I will inform Minerva that you will be gone.¡¨

¡§Thank you Albus¡¨ Snape picked up his bag and left School grounds before Apparating away.

Across the country, sitting on the toilet in her little blue and white bathroom Hermione Granger stared in shock at the muggle pregnancy test she was holding. Letting it fall to the floor she started to hit her head against the wall upset at her stupidity. There was a soft knocking at the door.

¡§Mummy, I am done putting my toys in the boxes.¡¨ Alyson called through the door.

¡§Coming baby, Uncle Harry will be here pretty soon to help us get to Hogwarts.¡¨ Hermione opened the bathroom door and looked down at her smiling daughter. ¡§Come on Aly bear lets take one more look around the house.¡¨

Albus Dumbledore saw his fireplace light up and watched Hermione Granger and her daughter step out of the fire followed by Harry Potter. ¡§Welcome, Welcome come on in I will show everyone to their rooms.¡¨ Albus walked out of his office leading the group to the apartments. ¡§Harry this will you¡¦re your rooms with enough space for Ginny, young James and the baby when she comes.¡¨

¡§Thank you Professor Dumbledore, Ginny will love it.¡¨ Harry stepped into his rooms while Dumbledore led Hermione down the hall some more.

¡§Mummy this place is huuuuuge.¡¨ Alyson said dramatically

Dumbledore laughed ¡§Yes Miss Alyson this place is huge. So promise me you wont wonder off somewhere with out telling someone ok.¡¨

Alyson smiled up at Dumbledore and agreed. The three of them stepped through the portrait leading to their rooms the main area had a couch and two overstuffed chairs it led right into a little kitchenette. The living room area had a Muggle TV with a DVD Player that was set up to work without electricity. There were two bedrooms off of the living room with a bathroom between them.

¡§So Miss Granger, the sorting ceremony will start at six. Miss Alyson is welcome to join you at the head table.¡¨

¡§Thank you Professor Dumbledore we will see you tonight.¡¨

¡§Mummy can I wear my pretty pink dress to the party tonight.¡¨

¡§Alyson Hermione laughed it¡¦s not a party, but yes you may wear your pink dress. You need to be on your best behavior ok.

¡§Ok Mummy I will be a good girl. I want to see all the big kids.¡¨

Hermione smiled at her daughter¡¦s silliness and went to get dressed her self. Putting on her new Hogwarts teaching robes she looked at her self in the fill length mirror. ¡§Well Hermione you sure have grown up.¡¨ She pulled her long brown wavy hair into a pony tail and putting on the barest of makeup she went to see how her daughter was doing. Hermione walked into her daughter¡¦s room to find her sitting on the floor buckling her white sandals. ¡§Come love let mummy brush your hair. It¡¦s a big day we want to look nice don¡¦t we?¡¨ Especially if you see Severus tonight there is no way he can miss the last that Alyson is his daughter Hermione thought.


Hermione sat down at the head table and smiled at everyone else sitting there. She made sure Alyson was sitting in her chair and looked around for Severus, but didn¡¦t have time to be confused when she didn¡¦t see him because the second to seventh year students started to pile into the great hall and found their seats. A short while later the first years started to line up in front of the head table. When the sorting was finished and everyone was seated Professor Dumbledore stood up.

¡§Attention everyone I have a few important announcement first one is that I am retiring as Headmaster of Hogwarts.¡¨ Hermione looked at the students and could see that nearly everyone was shocked. ¡§Professor McGonagall will be taking over as Headmistress. Professor Flitwick will be taking over as Deputy Headmaster, we also have a few changes in our teaching staff, and taking over the teaching of Transfiguration and head of Gryffindor house will be Hermione Granger. The new Defense against the dark arts Professor will be Harry Potter and while Professor Snape is on Sabbatical Professor Slughorn will be taking over his classes.¡¨ Hermione listened to the applause and the rest of Dumbledore¡¦s announcements in shock. He was gone, but for how long. I need to tell him about Alyson and about this baby she thought to her self and put a hand on her still flat belly.
