Hope everyone enjoys reading this chapter, feel free to review.
---------------
She groaned, her head swirling – pounding. What had happened? Stephanie’s hand slowly came up to rub slightly at her forehead, wincing somewhat as her fingers possibly hit a bruise. She lightly felt around to assess the damage; slight jolts of pain going down her face as she slowly let her eyes open. Ugh, this day was bad – she didn’t think most first years fainted, including when food came. A masculine voice snapped her out of her thoughts seconds later.
“Well, well… Miss Kirchner, was it? It’s not every year a first year faints,” it chuckled – an annoying sound to hear at this point as her eyes glanced over to where the voice was coming from.
Shock… pure shock… laced her features as he – HE sat there… Malfoy. She began to sit up but a old woman came over, lightly pushing down on her shoulders. “No, no Miss Kirchner. You took a right nasty fall deary, hit your head – the potion I gave you should clean that bruise up in the next hour or two hun. Also, here – drink up – it’s for your head, must be poundin’. Once you feel better, you may leave, hun.”
By the sound and look of the woman, the person speaking to her was Madam Pomfrey – Stephanie smiled somewhat and complied with the woman’s wishes, lying back down after drinking said disgusting tasting potion. Then her eyes glued right back on to Malfoy. What is that guy doing here? Maybe he knows… or – he couldn’t have been the one to bring me here. Madam Pomfrey patted her slightly on the shoulder before taking the empty vial and walking off.
“No – ‘thank you’ or ‘sorry for the inconvenience’?” He smirked as her eyes widened at this statement.
A growl came from her as a light blush covered her cheeks, “Sorry, Malfoy. Though I don’t remember asking you anything, quite honestly I had fainted so it was you who inconvenienced yourself. Why? I have no clue, it baffles me.”
He glared a minute or two at her, no one spoke to a Malfoy that way – even if they did have a point. He began to stand up and snickered, “I don’t know what compelled me to help you Kirchner, but something did. Anyway, cute knickers.” He knew that’d get a rise out of her, chuckling, “green thong, wasn’t it?” He watched her face pale in horror and laughed out right causing Pomfrey to look over at the two before tending to other students.
“W…why you foul… what the heck is your problem Malfoy!?” Stephanie snapped, yet kept it indoor level so Pomfrey wouldn’t be suspicious. “Ugh, I should’ve known your character would be this way…” She groaned, almost immediately regretting what she said – Uh-oh, this isn’t good.
“How… my character would act?” He raised a brow – studying her as he circled over to the other side of the bed to block her from Pomfrey, his lips moving close to her ear, “Please – do explain how you thought I would act, Kirchner. I saw you glance over at me when you first came in, but you knew who I was right off the bat – granted it’s not difficult, the Malfoy’s are quite famous, but usually it takes people a bit of time to realize that we are one.”
She shivered as his breath tickled her ear, her cheeks reddening further, speaking softly; afraid if she spoke any louder her voice would betray her. “It… doesn’t matter how I thought your character would act, Malfoy. You are who you are, I cannot change that unless change is wanted,” she stated – then went on to explain the rest, “I’ve known you for quite some time, if you’re wondering how I noticed you right off the bat, not first hand, but I know you.”
“Hm… really now?” He smirked, seemingly weighing his options.
Just then someone came bursting into the room, “St…Steph!? Oh my, what happened to yo…u.” Adrianna had seemed out of breath as she looked over at Malfoy, her eyes wide as she then looked between Stephanie and Malfoy, a minute or two passed before Stephanie cleared her throat.
“I’m okay Adrianna, I just – I dunno what happened,” Stephanie watched her friend before noticing Malfoy making his retreat. Dammit, and I was just getting to talk to him – god he’s so hoooot. She was smiling stupidly as Adrianna waved her hand in front of her face.
“Stephanie… STEPHANIE!” Adrianna groaned, “common lovesick – ” she was cut off as Stephanie sent her fist into her shoulder. “OW! What was that for!”
“Adrianna, if we’re going to keep a low profile we have to act like we don’t know them on too much of a personal level. Rather ‘hear’ things about them. I can’t be in love with someone I haven’t met… I haven’t met him. He’s a fictional character, so there’s no way I can be in love with him – he’s gorgeous, yes.” Stephanie sounded almost depressed – including since Malfoy was gone. “Thing is last name only until we ask and get approval to use theirs and vice versa – ugh… we just can’t have anyone figure things out.”
Stephanie glanced over at the table that was beside her bed, there was a paper on it and she hoped it was from Malfoy – yet wondering what he was playing at. She felt Adrianna hug her and pat her on the head as though she was a little kid, “fine, fine. Anyway it’s night time and we’re supposed to be in our dorms soon, common – lets go.”
“I have no clue where my dorms are…” Stephanie huffed, slowly getting out of the bed and grabbing the paper as she began to walk out. “I have to find a Slytherin.”
Adrianna gave a sound of acknowledgement as she turned to Stephanie, “well I know where my dorms are, the only place I would think of to find someone would be the Great Hall or the Headmasters office. I have to get up there now, they told me that I could come down and see if you were okay…” Adrianna then hugged Stephanie and then began to turn around and walk up towards the Ravenclaw Tower, “I read that the Slytherin Dungeons were below the ground floor, so… if you can’t find anyone… I’m sorry I can’t help you either. I don’t know your password or the exact location.” Adrianna’s voice had a tinge of guilt laced in as she left. “See you tomorrow Stephanie – in class hopefully.”
Stephanie only nodded and looked around. Wow I must’ve been out forever, oh… the paper. She unfolded it and began to read.
You’ll find me in the Great Hall.
I was told to bring you back to the Slytherin Dungeon.
P.S. Make it fast, I don’t have all night.
D.M.
She rolled her eyes at the extra message as she walked towards the Great Hall. When she arrived she heard two voices. Wha… who’s with him? She peered in the opening of the door, noticing two outlined forms – one much taller than the other.
“Draco, would you like to tell me why you’re playing games?” Snape growled, the voice… the voice was unmistakable.
She gasped, Snape was the other in the room. Oh no, what was going on – was there something wrong? Did they figure something out? She started to calm herself down as she then pushed the door open. “Sorry for making you wait Malfoy… oh Professor Snape, hello.” Maybe he’s just here to escort us both back, probably after hours to be out. But then why is Dra—Malfoy… I have to keep that in mind, I can’t let his first name slip.
“Miss Kirchner, you gave us – quite a scare,” the Professor drawled as he motioned for both students to start moving out. “Now come on, you two – get…” He got quiet and Stephanie turned around, glancing back. “Miss Kirchner, I will need you to come with me. Malfoy, straight to the Dorms – I’ll know if you made any extra stops.”
Oh no, what did I do now? Stephanie shivered slightly as Draco smirked at her, chuckling softly. “See ya Kirchner,” his hand slipped into her robes momentarily before he walked back off again, raising a hand and waving once.
“Miss Kirchner, I believe you have something to tell me… along with Miss Marino,” Snape’s voice was cold as he walked forward, his robes bellowing around him – he really did look scary. Including in the darkness with only torches lit. “Follow me,” he commanded and she followed scared about what was to come.
He knows…
